Starting to turn left and the power steering stopped working and made me go straight. Took it to dealer and checked out Power steering rack. I had no other option than to order part since this is the only vehicle i have. Immediately after the malfunction on the turn the "Service power steering" warning lamp showed up on dash.
The air suspension system on the truck fails, it will not raise. I’ve replaced almost all the components of the air suspension system and it’s still not working. The system fails in any type of weather but often it does so more in winter. System has been reset multiple times. Compressor has been replaced twice, relay replaced, fuses replaced, lines have been checked, height sensors have been replaced. Looking at online forums, this seems to be an issue with many Dodge Rams of 2014 as well as other years.
ABS module malfunctioned, auto maker has no available replacement. No ABS module available, vehicle is undrivable, no parts being made to fix.
Suspension failure. Unsafe to drive, goes out in the middle driving.
honestly the compressor failed for the air suspension and keeps failing many times for many people in different altitudes and humidity levels as you guys should already know by now. the system is supposed to be a sealed system that no air should be able to get into, right? so my question and things i really would like you guys to look into is why, if this true why do they need a dryer for the n2 gas based system they is not supposed to be able to get air in it? more so when n2 gas is supposed to expel moisture and being a dry gas. I bought this truck in Colorado and in the dry cold of Colorado I had no issues like this but the moment i had my first winter in a more humid environment and it dropped to 20 degrees Fahrenheit the system failed such...
Stellantis/Ram for over 10 months now have claim that the ABS Module is under engineering review to me. The ABS Module controls the brake anti skid, sway control, cruise control and other systems. Since 3/2024 I've tried to replace this module but it's not in stock because of not being produced. It's a manufactured control item only. I was informed by Gator Dodge this has been a problem for almost a year now if not longer. Called Stellantis/Ram and was informed to go to a junk yard to get a replacement with no product control. Tried to exchange it for a new truck but the dealer does not want it on it"s lot because of no anti skid and other functions this module controls. If it's not safe enough for Ram to sale how can it be a safe vehicle on public road ways? To answer any questions, yes the...
Hello, I went and got my truck service at a car dealership for rear air bag shock not working properly (4times) ; futhermore, my power steering went out while driving...not knowing the steering is electronic
My front ball joints went out own my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck recently and had to be replaced the vehicle only had 58, 343 miles at the time. I contacted Chrysler even though the vehicle was not under warranty, because one of there team members said all the could do was try to get me a reimbursement, but I was recently denied. The vehicle also has right arm shifter issues that keep occurring even though I have had it repaired at the Chrysler dealership in Stockton, Ca. I paid around 27,000 for this vehicle in 2019 at Fremont Toyota in Fremont, Ca. The vehicle had supposedly over 21,000 miles own it at purchase.
Air ride suspension warning light came on with the ABS electrical warning and lost of cruise control. At the same time the truck became almost uncontrollable.
Approximately 1 year ago, the factory air suspension system on my 2014 Ram 1500 Limited would cease to function, displaying an alert saying "Air Suspension Immediate Service Required", and the suspension system would drop down to the point that the truck suspension was riding on the bump-stops. I took the vehicle to a Dodge/Ram Dealership service center, where the suspension compressor and air distribution valving was replaced, costing of $5,000.00. Initially this cured the problem, but a few months later, the problem cropped up again. This issue has now progressed to the point that at about 30=45 minutes into driving, the same alert comes up on my dash display, with the same results.
Front suspension bracket where the crossmember is welded to the frame. The weld failed and separated from the frame. Possible metal fatigue. Vehicle was driving in a straight line at low speeds when it became wobbly and unstable driving. Pulled to the right hard and almost caused a wreck. Components separated causing brakes to stop working, damage to oil pan, inner & outer tie rod, spring, shock, bushings, tire, wheel, and body damage. Would have been detrimental and potentially fatal if this happened with speeds higher. Vehicle is not drivable and had to be towed by rollback. Emergency brakes had to be used in order to stop vehicle.
Air suspension fails while driving causing vehicle to sit on the bump stops. Vehicle become unresponsive and unsafe to drive. FCA knows about the air suspension pre-mature failure due to inferior components in the compressor and distribution block.
At speeds over 65 mph the truck vibrates violently. We have had it to 3 different repairs places, new tire’s balanced, new front parts and it still vibrates.
Air suspension system fails causing dangerous driving condition. This is an ongoing issue which began periodically when temperatures dropped below 32 degrees. Now it is occurring more frequently causing the vehicles steering and stability to be compromised. Fuel tank strap failed due to heavy rust causing one end of tank to drop and scrap on the road surface. Potential safety and fire hazard.
The factory installed air suspension has failed more times than I can count. It’s has been going on for years mainly during the winter months, but so far this year with the warmer weather it still fails probably at least once or twice a week. This issue puts everyone in danger that is around these trucks while the are having these issues with the suspension air bags deflating when on public roadways. The truck is available for inspection anytime and I encourage you to follow up with any of these trucks with complaints that suffer the same issue because if you do maybe you will realize that we are not all just crazy. This is a serious issue that needs addressed by the manufacturer. The message of immediate air suspension service required shows on the dash, or air system cooling. The defect has been confirmed/observed/examined by multiple members of law...
I bought this 2014 RAM December of 2022. I drove the truck from Charlotte NC to Cleveland Ohio and back with no issues the week after I purchased it. At the end of January this year the FACTORY AIR SUSPENSION started giving me trouble. The Air bags deflate and will not pump back up and it becomes almost un drivable because it bounces violently and it slams down hard on the bump stops so hard it literally jars your insides and this is very very dangerous. The truck seems to have a mind of its own because it does this and then anywhere from 1-15 days later the warning lights go away and it seems to work just fine. It will pump back up and stay like it's supposed to be for anywhere from 1 day to a week and then it just automatically on its own deflates again all...
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated and he heard an abnormal sound underneath the vehicle. The contact stated that the front axle fractured, and the front passenger’s side wheel detached. As a result of the failure, the vehicle started to slide. The contact engaged the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the tow lot where it remained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
While driving on the highway my air suspension fails dropping my front end all the way to the frame stops causing speed wobble and an almost loss of control. After replacing a fuse dude to the compressor failing The very next day the right rear dropped while driving causing unsafe driving conditions. This is the third time in 6mo that this has happened with my truck. My truck is welcome to be inspected anytime. My safety, my kid’s safety, and other on the road are in danger if this happens and I lose control. There was no warning besides a service air suspension immediately notification on my dash as it was happening. There are thousands of reports of this being an issue in 2014-2019 ram trucks with air suspension. The dealer and manufacturer have been no help and I’ve been told by the dealer even after fixing it it will...
For numerous years my 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with 4 wheel air suspension has been failing. 1: When it fails it mostly drops the complete left side and the steering wheel is off center to the right approximately a 1/4 turn and alters the steering behavior pulling the truck to the right while driving. This alters the alignment of the truck. 2: The truck also at times drops all of the air out of the system and the truck is riding on its jounce bumpers / suspension stops making it very dangerous to drive. When operating on the roadways with bumps or pulling into parking lots the read of the truck can launch into the air and a hard jarring is felt throughout the truck, and is dangerous to drive on slippery surfaces such as snow/ice covered roadways when the system fails. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer...
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? my suspension and also my engine are the first problems that i have noticed while driving this vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When I drive I am scared to go even the speed limit of 30mph because my suspension makes my car bump aggressively and also there is a loud ticking noise I notice under the hood I have looked up reviews of this vehicle and seen that others have similar complaints for the dodge ram 2014 1500. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?] I took it into palmens dodge dealership and they didn't want to diagnose the vehicle unless the took the engine apart though they said it was better off replacing just by hearing the noise. Has...
Suspension is air ride and is defected. It stops working and makes the truck bounce with any disturbance/bump on the road. Truck sways from side to side. Have had to replace the front axles/joints and the front end alignment. The mechanic stated that something was welded (that shouldn't have been) probably was caused because of the suspension. Every now and again the warning message "service suspension" comes on but not every time it happens. I haven't had the money to have it inspected because I put a lot down on the vehicle and to have the front end repaired. Our insurance wouldn't cover the claim.
Air suspension system fails intermittently. If it fails while driving, the vehicle has virtually no suspension and is unsafe to handle. It has failed at highway speeds, and rapidly deflated. When hitting bumps or anything in the road that is normally easily traversed, the vehicle will bounce and or skid, sometimes uncontrollably. The vehicle has been at the dealer multiple times for this issue, and it has not been solved. Dealer claims they can't find a problem due to their diagnostics not showing a fault, but the vehicle has failed right in front of the service manager! Currently they have had the vehicle for going on three (3) weeks, and the failure has not been fixed. When the system fails, there are multiple alerts present in the vehicle information center on the dash, but sometimes these do not appear until sometime AFTER the failure, and at highway speeds this does...
Vehicles air suspension freezes in colder weather causing the suspension to lock up. Just purchased this vehicle in August (warm weather) first time it happen was the first below 35° weather and almost bounced us off the road on the highway. Many complaints about this on line for 4th generation 1500's. We talked to dodge and they gaslighted the issue and told me is a recall comes up they will reimburse any issues caused by this. They CAN NOT reimburse a life if it bounces us off the road and causes a accident!! It's already caused another issue with either the cv boot or axel which were taking it tomorrow to be looked at. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and could definitely cause a accident!!!!
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a grinding and rubbing sound was present coming from the rear of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact noticed that the vehicle was sitting on the frame. The contact stated that whenever the weather was cold while driving, the vehicle would bounce while the air suspension defect warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure would recur whenever the weather was cold. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Airbag suspension fails when the compressor fails causing a fuse to blow and loose all air ride suspension. The ride leaves you feeling terribly unsafe hoping you can make it home in one piece. Its all over the web about this issue. Canada has a class action lawsuit filed. There are service bulletins but we need a recall with a permanent fix. It costs over 3000 with no guarantees to be fixed if you live in cold weather. internet information...........PLEASE READ............ If the outside temperature dips below freezing, there's a good chance Ram's air suspension will stop working. That's a big deal for people who live in places that have, oh what's it called ... WINTER. When the air suspension stops working, it doesn't fail gracefully. It delegates the task of absorbing bumps and keeping your vehicle safely upright to four deflated rubber bags. And as you might imagine the...
Air suspension failed while going 78mph, causing the vehicle to lower. With the vehicle lowered, the slightest bump can cause loss of control. I hit a small rise (present after a bridge) and the vehicle slid sideways. Luckily there were no other vehicles nearby and I was able to pull over to the side of the road (mainly due to the fact that I am a very experienced driver). This issue is known by Dodge and a simple Google search shows thousands of complaints about it. These issue could have eaisly caused an accident, injury or death.
The Air Suspension System on my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 4 X4 has stalled or has currently frozen and this makes it extremely difficult to steer the vehicle. Even at low speeds 25-45 mph it leaves the pavement when crossing the slightest pavement imperfections. The Highways of Louisiana and Texas are filled with imperfections and it is a horrifying experience to drive this vehicle in this condition. I have taken it to several different respected mechanics, and many are the most recommended and it's always the same. "Dodge needs to have their butts kicked for putting this system in a small truck such as this." They warns me, 'it will only grow worse as the truck gets older.' When driving on the Interstate (I-20) in Louisiana and Texas the truck leaves the ground whenever I pass over a dip, bump or a bridge. This is scary when I am driving...
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the suspension failed, and the vehicle became lowered. While driving over a bump in the road the suspension independently lowered, and the vehicle became uncontrollable. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to raise up. A message on the display stated that the vehicle was unable to achieve ride height. The vehicle was towed several times to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
THE AIR SUSPENSION RANDOMLY STOPS WORKING. I PURCHASED TRUCK LESS THEN A YEAR AGO. I FIGURED IT WAS DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER WE GET IN COLORADO. HOWEVER I DROVE THE TRUCK TO FLORIDA. HALFWAY THERE THE SUSPENSION STOPS WORKING. MAKES A VERY BUMPY RIDE, AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND PAINFUL. ALSO I MANAGED TO GET PULLED OVER IN DALLAS AND ACCUSED OF A DUI BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A LANE. DUE TO THE SUSPENSION BEING MESSED UP. IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS
AIR RIDE SUSPENSION DROPS TO BUMP STOPS CAUSING ROUGH RIDE AND LOSE OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE. VERY POOR DESIGN...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CRISWELL CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT (84 BUREAU DR, GAITHERSBURG, MD 20878, (301) 637-4198) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LIFTER ROCKER FAILED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CAMSHAFT WAS RESEALED AND THE TOP STARTER AND LIFTERS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,982.
ON A HWY THE SUPENSION DEFLATES AT WILL CAUSEING VEHICAL TO IE. HOP;JUMP;SKIP;FISH TAIL ACROSS ROAD. ALSO RISES & LOWWERS ON ITS OWN : IN THE DRIVEWAY;PARKED UNATTENDED WITH NO CONSISTANT CIRCUMSTANCES. HEAR COMPRESSER OPERATING WITH VEH. UNATTENDED. MAY DEFLATE ON ROUTE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT & REINFLATE WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT. CAN REMAIN DEFLATED HOURS OR DAYS AT A TIME; THEN INFLATE AND MAINTAIN ITS POSITION 4 HOURS ;DAYS; WEEKS AT A TIME. IN BOTH INSTANCES SYSTEM WILL MOT RESPONED TO VEH. SETTING OFFERED VEHICAL DASH MAY SIMPLY STATE 'RISING' OR VEH. MUST BE IN PARK'
MY TRUCK VIBRATES AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55 -68 MPH. I NO LONGER HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND WAS TOLD IT IS MY RIGHT FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT END COSTING ME CLOSE TO $3,000. I HAVE SEEN THIS AS AN ISSUE ON RAM AND DODGE FORUMS. IT SEEMS LIKE IF THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW YEARS BUT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE DIED LAST YEAR BUT DUE TO COVID I DID NOT GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I WAS WORKING FROM HOME. I AM NOW BACK TO WORK AND NEED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. UNFORTUNATELY THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND AT LEAST A MONTH AWAY. I HAVE 121,000 MILES AND I WOULD HOPE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR YEARS TO COME BUT IN THESE TIMES $3000 IS A DIFFICULT...
THE AIR SUSPENSION HAS NOT BEEN WORKING PROPERLY FOR WELL OVER A YEAR NOW IT INTERMITTENTLY GOES DOWN TO THE BUMP STOPS AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS IN OTHER VEHICLES PLUS MY OWN BECAUSE ANY BUMP THAT YOUR HIT CAUSE THE TRUCK TO BOUNCED LOSING TRACTION WITH THE ROAD AND THAT EVEN MEANS WHEN SLOWING DOWN THE TRACTION CONTROL ABS BRICKS IN AND CAUSE THE WHEELS TO NOT LOCK UP ,, ALSO THE TRUCK CAN'T HOLD THE LOAD IF AND IN THE BED CUSSING UNSAFE HANDLING AROUND CORNERS AND THREW TRAFFIC
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THE AIR SUSPENSION ON IT FAILS RANDOMLY, ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER. I JUST HAD THE AIR COMPRESSOR REPLACED IN IT AND IT FAILED AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN STATIONARY, BUT I HAVE HAD IT FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN GOING 65-70 MPH. NORMALLY THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE FALLS TO ENTRY EXIT LEVEL AND OTHER CORNERS STAY UP, BUT I HAVE HAD SEVERAL COMBINATIONS OF FRONT AND REAR CORNERS FAIL.
AIR SUSPENSION WILL STOP WORKING WHILE TRAVELING AND YOU LOSE ALL SUSPENSION VEHICLE WILL START TO BOUNCE EVEN ON SMITH ROADS WHICH CAUSES TRUCK TO WANDER IN ALL DIRECTIONS AND GIVES ANOTHER WARNING SO YOU IMMEDIATELY SEE THE RESULTS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TRAVELING STRAIGHT
AIR SUSPENSION FAILS EVERY FEW MONTHS LEAVING THE TRUCK UNDRIVEABLE. NORMAL ROADS CAN LIFT THE REAR TIRES OFF THE GROUND AND CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE AND DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT WELL TRAINED TO FIX THEM.
THE COMPRESSOR ON THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION SYSTEM FAILS UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE OUT OF LEVEL WHILE DRIVING, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE CAN HAPPEN AT VARIOUS TIMES. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE HIGHWAY. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ENTERS WHAT IS CALLED "AERO MODE." THE "AERO MODE" LOWERS THE BODY OF THE TRUCK TO ACHIEVE BETTER AERODYNAMICS AND FUEL ECONOMY. AFTER SLOWING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE RETURNS TO NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT. WITH THE COMPRESSOR FAILURE, THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO RETURN TO NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT.
DRIVERS SIDE REAR AIRBAG GOES FLAT INTERMITTENTLY. THIS MAY HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED AND NOT RUNNING. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS OR PROBLEMS. WHEN FLAT, EVEN IF COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING , IT WON'T REFILL. IT MAY STAY FLAT FOR MINUTES OR DAYS, AND THROUGH MANY DRIVING CYCLES THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FILLS AND OPERATES NORMAL. NORMAL OPERATION MAY LAST FROM A FEW HOURS TO WEEKS. THEN IT DOES IT AGAIN. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT IS THE AIRPUMP OVERHEATING BUT THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AS ONLY ONE SHOCK GOES FLAT AND DOESN'T RESPOND WHEN THE PUMP IS RUNNING. MANY PEOPLE REPORT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THIS YEAR DODGE RAM TRUCK AND HAVE SAID REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR AND VALVE BODY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ONE PERSON REPORTED THAT THEY HAD THE CONTROL MODULE RE FLASHED AND IT FIXED THE ISSUE.
SINCE DAY ONE OF BUYING THIS VEHICLE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS SOMETIMES FOR A FEW WEEKS AT A TIME. SEEMS LIKE NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DIAG THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS ALWAYS DARTS THROWN AND NO PROBLEMS EVER FIXED, THEY HAVE REPLACED AIRBAGS, COMPRESSOR, CHARGED THE SYSTEM, REPROGRAMMED/CALIBRATED THE SYSTEM AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY FUSES! IVE GOTTEN AIR SUSPENSION CODES LEFT AND RIGHT WITH COMPRESSOR TEMP CODES... THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE WAY THIS VEHICLE DRIVES WHEN IT FALLS ON BUMP STOPS AND CHANGES THE CAMBER OF THE TIRES ( HAS RUINED A BRAND NEW SET OF TIRES DUE TO INSIDE TIRE WEAR ON BOTH FRONT ) TIRES ARE SCREECHING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, BOUNCES WHILE TURNING AND HITTING SMALL BUMPS... WELL THAT JUST MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT IN A CRASH WHEN IT THROWS YOU AROUND OUT OF...
I HAD JUST STARTED DRIVING WHEN I HIT THE BUTTON TO RAISE MY SUSPENSION, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING AS NORMAL BUT THE TRUCK NEVER RAISED AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHED RAISING BUT NEVER STOPPED. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES I STOPPED THE TRUCK TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED. THE INDICATOR STOPPED FLASHING,REMAINING IN OFF-ROAD 1, BUT THE FRONT WAS LOWER THAN THE REAR. I TRIED ADJUSTING AGAIN BUT NOTHING WORKED. GOT BACK ON THE ROAD AND GOT UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO SEE IF IT WOULD AUTO ADJUST BUT IT REMAINED IN OFF-ROAD 1, EVEN AT 70MPH. IT HAD BEEN BELOW FREEZING OVERNIGHT, BUT THE TEMP HAD RAISED ABOVE 45 WHEN THIS OCCURRED. A BIT OF A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE TRUCK DOESN'T HANDLE RIGHT, WHEN THE FRONT IS LOWERED TO EXIT LEVEL AND THE REAR IS IN OFF-ROAD 2.
DURING COLD WEATHER (SUB 32F) AIR SUSPENSION WILL FAIL, CAUSING TRUCK TO SIT ON BUMP STOPS (SUSPENSION BOTTOMS OUT ON ONE OR MORE CORNERS, SOMETIMES ALL 4 CORNERS). HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING VERY ROUGH/BUMPY RIDE AND CAUSES POOR HANDLING IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS RANGING FROM SUB 25MPH TO 70+MPH. CAN ALSO FAIL IF PARKED. ATTACHED IMAGE IS OF FRONT DRIVER TIRE BOTTOMED OUT SITTING IN GARAGE.
I HAVE A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500 LARAMIE LIMITED WITH THE AIR SUSPENSION OPTION. I BOUGHT IT 11 MONTHS AGO. IT WAS WINTER WHEN I BOUGHT IT, AND ON THE TEST DRIVE, I ATTEMPTED TO ADJUST THE SUSPENSION LEVEL AND IMMEDIATELY GOT THE WARNING MESSAGE THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. THEY TOOK IT INTO THEIR SERVICE BAY AND REPLACED THE FUSE, WHICH TEMPORARILY RESOLVED THE ISSUE. AS THE WEATHER REMAINED COLD, HOWEVER, I GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AGAIN, SO CONTACTED THE DEALER AND TOOK IT BACK IN. I ENDED UP HAVING TO TAKE IT BACK IN MULTIPLE TIMES, WITH THEM "INSULATING A PART OF THE SYSTEM AND UPDATING THE ECU". AS THE WEATHER WARMED UP THROUGH THE SPRING AND SUMMER, NO ISSUES. FAST FORWARD TO THIS WINTER, ONCE THE WEATHER DROPPED BELOW FREEZING, THE SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I CHECKED ALL FUSES, AND NONE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION SYSTEM BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LEANED TO ONE SIDE. THE AIR SUSPENSION MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GENE'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM 3400 S CUSHMAN ST, FAIRBANKS, AK 99701) FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PROGNOSIS WAS NOT PROVIDED, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FIRST TIME I HADE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION WAS WHEN THE TEMPURAS GOT BELOW FREEZING. NOW I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRUCK WILL LOWER ALL THE WAY DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS MAKES THE TRUCK TO LOOS CONTROL GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEEDS. I HAVE HADE IT IN THE SHOP TO GET IT FIXED BUT IT STILL IS DOING THE SAME THING.I SEEN ON LINE WHERE OTHER PEOPLE HAS HADE THE SAME THING HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL ALSO LOWER ITS SELF ALL THE WAQY DOWN TO EXIT MODE WHILE PARKED AT TIMES
THIS TRUCK HAS A AIR SUSPENSION THAT INFLATES AND DEFLATES ALL OF THE TIME, I AM AFRAID OF DRIVING THE TRUCK IN FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRUCK AIR SUSPENSION THE LEFT REAR DEFLATES AND HITS METAL TO METAL MAKING IT VERY SQUIRRELY. IT SEEMS THAT IT NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS, PLEASE HELP. THIS HAPPENS MAINLY WHEN IT IS IN MOTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN OR PARKED, THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION DEFLATED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING. THE SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (765 CENTER ST, AUBURN, ME 04210, (207) 783-2291) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE NITROGEN WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
SUSPENSION SYSTEM (AIR BAGS) GO OUT. THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND TRUCK WILL HIT THE ROAD (EVEN FLAT NEW ROAD) REALLY HARD WITH ANY BUMP. USUALLY IT STARTS WITH ONE SIDE THE DRIVER BACK SIDE AND EVENTUALLY BOTH AIR BAGS GO OUT. IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF A LITTLE BUMP CAN MANAGE TO MOVE MY STEERING, A BIG POT HOLE CAN MAKE MY WHOLE TRUCK CHANGES LANES. THE SYSTEM DETECTS THE MALFUNCTION AFTER 3 USES AND SAYS "SUSPENSION OVERHEATED" SUSPENSION COOLING". THIS HAPPEN EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS . THE MORE USE IN THE DAY, THE MORE PULL, THE MORE WEIGHT, IT GOES OUT. I CAN'T USE THE TRUCK FOR WHAT IS FOR AND NOW IS ONLY A CARPOOL TRUCK. DODGE RAM LONGHORN 2014
AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM FAILED. THE ISSUE HAPPENS AT RANDOM AND CAN BE STATIONARY OR TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALL AIR IS EMPTIED FROM THE SYSTEM CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BOUNCE AROUND UNCONTROLLABLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK WILL BE RESTING ON THE AXLE DIRECTLY. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE RAM DEALER FOR REPAIR AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, CHANGING OUT SERVAL COMPONENTS THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHY THE TRUCK IS LOOSING AIR. THE DEALER NOW TELLS ME THAT WITHOUT A CODE IN THE SYSTEM THEY CAN NOT REPAIR IT EVEN THOUGH I SHOW THEM PICTURES WITH DATE AND TIME THAT THE SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE FRAME IS SITTING DIRECTLY ON THE AXLE.
