2014 RAM 1500 Vehicle Speed Control Problems

There was a previous recall for my vehicle July 21, 2015 R36 15V•459. The recall was handled at the dealership to fix the recall. But now I'm experiencing the exact symptoms of Recall R36. Steering Wheel: •Ghost right blinker - When engaged, all lights are on and in working condition and blink at a normal rate on the outside of the vehicle. •No menu navigation •No cruise control •Can't control radio •Can't control phone calls •No working horn •Active airbag light Symptoms are constant all angles of the steering wheel. Anti-Lock Brake Module Internal Failure, error code C2200--49. This ABS failure also takes out the following safety features, anti-lock braking, traction control, trailer towing brake controller, and cruise control. As a result I do not have these safety features, and I tow a 10,000 lb rated trailer that required that the OEM factory brake controller works. A new module is $1200 plus, however there are NONE to be found. It has been on National Back Order for several years, and affects many year models. Failure at first was intermittent and worked during cold weather, but once up to 70 degrees or above it failed consistently, then finally failed permanently. l Intermittent Failure was real risk when towing, as you could not depend on system working in case of emergency.

I purchased This truck new in 2014 and have had very few problems with it, but now the ABS module is defective which affects the brakes, traction control, cruise, with all lights on. In driving the vehicle under wet roads it has gone out of control and is dangerous. Ram has told me that the parts are back ordered and recently gave me incorrect information as to the extent of this parts problem. The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. Computer reads CC2200-49. ABS internal electronic failure. Brake,ABS,traction control lights came on and electric trailer brakes and cruise control deactivated while pulling 5000# camper putting my family in danger. Dealer and Ram Care have been of no assistance locating new part. Part has been under engineering review for 2 years and is unavailable from Mopar.

ABS module failure. Doesn’t allow traction control, ABS, or cruise control to work. Module was diagnosed bad at dealership and Chrysler can’t get a replacement module manufactured. Have already paid for the module in August of last year and still can’t get one.

Lost connection with the restraint control module. I have 97,000 miles on my truck., and the air bags module malfunctioned at the same time. Now I am a bit worried about driving my truck.

The vehicle has a fault in the ABS system that is causing the ABS light to stay on, as well as the traction control light and the Brake light. This means the brakes will lock up, causing the vehicle to slide, the vehicle has no assisted traction control, and the cruise control will not engage. In a vehicle like this (a pick-up truck) the back end is notoriously light and will easily loose traction during emergency braking and without traction control, can easily lose control on wet roads. The part needed to repair this issue, the ABS Module, is unavailable anywhere...and has been for years now. Some can still be found in old junk vehicles, or for sale out of used vehicles, but these have no guarantee and are no safer or less susceptible to failure than the stock product. ABS system failure. Unable to repair the ABS control module because the part is not available making the passenger rear wheel lose traction while starting to move and driving at highway speeds causing the rear of the vehicle to fishtail on dry roads. Even with new tires installed.

ABS BRAKE WARNING Light came on and others warning lights. Error Code C220-49 Anti-Lock Brake Module Internal Failure-Electronic. Also lost cruise control, traction control, trailer brake controller and anti-lock brakes. Parts are on Nationwide BACK Order due to the massive failure rate. Safety Issue especially when towing and using OEM trailer brake control.

Driving on the interstate without cruise control on at 70 mph. I had a vehicle passing in the fast lane and a vehicle in front of me slowing down so I applied a little pressure to my brake peddle and my truck automatically began to accelerate on its own. I kept pushing on the brake peddle and it was stuck in a acceleration. The brakes tried slowing it down but it would not stop acceleration once I took my foot of the brake peddle it just rapidly began to pick up speed on its own again! I ended up pushing down on the break peddle long enough to turn off the engine and coast off to the side on the interstate. I was so glad it happened while I was driving it and not my wife she could of wrecked into the back of the vehicle in front of us...

EPS system quit working and no power steering. Code С2217-00. It is available to be inspected. Currently being looked at by Tempe Ram service center in Az. System going out while driving can cause death’s and injury. No issues prior to lights and code and steering wheel stiffening. Also Intermittent cruise control issues with it not wanting to go into and out of cruise. Will not always come out of cruise control when cancelled with button. Previously took in for recall check and dealership said it did not meet recall criteria problem still persists.

My ABS module and TCS light has been on for several years. I have taken it to the dealer multiple time to have it repaired, only to be told it is on back order. This has been going on for over two years. I have a life time warranty through Chrysler as long as I own the truck. Since the warning lights have been on I have had many instances where my truck has lost control and slipped on the highway most of the time in rain. I have also had my truck lock up once, when a person made a right turn into my lane in front of me, forcing me to hit the breaks. My truck skid through the intersection and almost rear ended the vehicle. I avoid traveling with my family in the truck now.

Stellantis/Ram for over 10 months now have claim that the ABS Module is under engineering review to me. The ABS Module controls the brake anti skid, sway control, cruise control and other systems. Since 3/2024 I've tried to replace this module but it's not in stock because of not being produced. It's a manufactured control item only. Does not start reliably. When driving vehicle sputters and even stalls or complete shut offs while driving. Will loose ability to accelerate and lack power. Taken to 4 different mechanics / 2 of which Dodge Dealerships and no one can find whats wrong. Engine light on.

My ABS light has been on and when I took my vehicle to the dealership, they said it requires a part that is on back order for almost a year already. My vehicle suddenly comes out of drive while I’m on the road. It’s scary because one minute I’m going 50 miles an hour and then it just turns off. Other times the car does not register my foot on the break when trying to get it out of park to start it. The Dodge dealership says all of these things are related to a bad ABS module which I have been waiting for since December, and they have no idea when the part will be available. Codes c2209-49, c2200-47, u0121, u11bc, u1110, u1412. ABS, traction control, brake and CEL iluminated. No speedometer and no power steering. Codes will not clear. All wheelspeed sensors are operational per scantool in live data mode. Issue not confermed by dealer or independant as the cost is outrageous. And i cannot find a recall to repair issue. These issues i have had since March 2024. Cost for me to repair would be approximately $1200. Safety systems like these should not need a recall they’ve had years to resolve issues with ABS problems. The Abs, Traction Control and Brake lights are on. None of the affected systems are working at this time. The vehicle was tested by Chrysler Ram in Peotone, Illinois. they said that the Abs control module was bad and could not be ordered at this time because it is still in product development at FCA.

This is the 4th time it's happened and also the 2nd time iv almost been killed!! I have a 2014 ram 1500 which iv grown to love. No accident has happened but I have had the Anti-lock brake module go bad in my truck and it has disabled cruise control, anti-lock brakes and traction control. So basically just old fashion standard braking is all that is working. Took it to the dealership and they told me the part is on hold by Ram for review by their engineers. This whole vehicle has several recalls, looking at what the recalls stated, those are all safety issues that could occur at any moment. The engine has failed in said vehicle. The issues at hand have been confirmed by a registered mechanic. He was unable to locate any engine for this vehicle and it was taken to a dealership, in which they will not fix. Also, have been in touch with Stillantis, however, after giving them time to respond after the initial conversation, to find out they never took down our information. Another issue is they lied and said the dealership said it was fine. The problem is that was a definite lie. They did not know where or what dealership. This vehicle was made and sold to be reliable but, it is not. There are recalls and there have been class action lawsuits but, no one is willing to help...

When accelerating, gas pedal is sticking to the floor, and continues to accelerate on its own, at high rate of speed

Dash digital display screen completely black and not working. The truck was driving fine the day we noticed the screen being black but could not determine speed or anything else. Now the truck will not start.

I filed a complaint on 7/4/2022, complaint number 11472254. Since then, I have done some research and found out that there have been MANY FAILURES OF THE ABS MODUALS on RAM trucks. I have attempted to buy a new one, but there are none. I called dealerships around the United States, and many have some in stock but can't sell them (won't sell them). And if I try and order from a local dealership, the part has a 6-month lead time. I have asked why the has not been a recall and I have been told it's not a safety issue and that traction control is a nice to have option. While looking at a new dodge Ram, I noticed that traction control and antilock brakes are listed under SAFETY (please see attached). If this is a SAFETY issue, why hasn't there been a RECALL issued?

My vehicle suddenly and dramatically accelerates when descending steep hills, without any depression of the accelerator pedal. When this happens, the engine RPM abruptly increases from around 1500 RPM to 3000 RPM or more, with a corresponding increase in vehicle speed. This typically happens in first and second gear. After I slam on the brake to reduce speed, the engine speed temporarily returns to normal (1000-1500 RPM) then the vehicle accelerates on its own again. This does not happen when descending gentle hills. This has been happening since the vehicle was brand new and is still occurring now, 6 years later. The dealer attempted to fix the problem when the car was new, but without success.

I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN A ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK JUST STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK, I ACCIDENTALLY TURNED OFF THE KEY BEFORE PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. I SAW SMOKE COME FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD AND SMELLED ELECTRICAL WIRES BURNING. WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THEN STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR THE RAM WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND DID NOT GO PAST 15 MPH. THE RAM DID NOT TURN ON ANY LIGHT TO NOTIFY ME OF AN ISSUE. I HAD TO FORCEFULLY TAKE IT OUT OF LIMP MODE THEREFORE RISKING THE TRANSMISSION TO GET DAMAGED. THERE WAS A BIG TRUCK BEHIND ME MAKING A LEFT WHO THANKFULLY NOTICED THE RAM STOPPED WORKING AND PATIENTLY WAITED FOR ME TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. HAD AEM FLASH CAUSED 10-15% MPG LOSS AS WELL AS THROTTLE LAG,LOSS OF ACCELERATION FCA SAID THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE OR MPG

THE TRUCK HAS AN EXAUST LEAK. IT'S ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD. THE BOLT BROKE FOR SOME REASON AND IS A BIG COMMON ISSUE IN THESE TRUCKS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BECAUSE THE BOLTS USED WASNT STRONG ENOUGH TO WITH STAND PRESSURE AND CORROSION. MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO NO LONGER WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD. AFTER HAVING THE AEM UPDATE COMPLETED, I LOST 5MPG IN FUEL ECONOMY (FROM 23 MPG COMBINED, TO 18 MPG COMBINED), I ALSO AM EXPERIENCING AN INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AMOUNT OF ACCELERATION LAG (4-6 SECONDS). I OWN A 2014 RAM 1500 WITH A 3.0L ECO DIESEL. THERE WAS A FEDERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS HANDED DOWN AND THE OUTCOME WAS AN APPROVED ENGINE MODIFICATION (AEM). THE AEM WAS A REFLASH OF THE ECM AND TCM. AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE PERFORMANCE OF MY TRUCK DANGEROUSLY IMPACTED. FCA ADVISED THAT THE UPDATED SOFTWARE IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF THE VEHICLES ATTRIBUTES TO INCLUDE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVEABILITY, AND FUEL ECONOMY.
