I was driving around 35 mph, the steering wheels suddenly have no power, really tight and hard to turn with no symptoms before and no light on dash, this was very dangerous if I was driving on the highway. Second thing is the famous "Hemi tick" happened on my truck, everyone have the Ram truck have exactly same issue but I really do not know why this issue still not have any recall yet. Please recall and make your product better and safer for your royal customer, please and please.

TICKING NOISE FROM 3.6l PENTASTAR ENGINE. SAFTEY CONCERN COULD RUIN MY ENGINE CAUSING STALLS AND MISFIREING AND SEZEING.
#11707990 |
The magnetic material on the tone wheel detached causing a crank position sensor error code (P0336) and subsequent misfire while accelerating into traffic. The software had been updated per recall W58 (NHSTA 20V-475). Vehicle could be restarted but lacked full power. The vehicle is out of warranty, however, Stellantis directed that a dealer make repairs, customer pays out of pocket ($3200), and claim be submitted for reimbursement. Stellantis promptly denied the claim, despite correspondence in writing and recorded customer service phone call. A BBB complaint has been filed against Stellantis.

We have a 2014 dodge ram 1500 SLT with a 5.7 hemi. I was driving down the road and stopped at a red light and the truck shut off and wouldn't start again we had to tow it home. We had a mechanic look at the vehicle and run the codes for the truck to find out what was wrong it was a misfire in cylinder 3. We called a few mechanic shops in town to get other opinions and they all said the same thing its more than likely the lifters or the camshaft is bad and its a very common problem with this model truck with the engine and it would cost over $5,000 to fix it. I spoke to the dodge dealership in our town they said the same thing its more than likely the lifters they see it all the time and its around $5,000 plus...

Flexplate (flywheel) had tone wheel dislodge and destroy crank position sensor. After a $2200 repair quote from dealer and while at the dealer the repair shop claims the engine is failed completely and new ecodiesel engine is needed. Crankshaft is suspected failure. Vehicle had total loss of power when crank tone wheel failed. Very dangerous to find a shoulder without power while towing travel trailer. Vehicle was purchased due to longevity expected from diesel engine.

Driving under normal conditions, truck had been running perfectly for the 3 months I owned it. Coming down a hill on the freeway, lights started blinking on the dash, then making a knocking noise, lost pressure (all control) of gas pedal, then white smoke from drivers side, then grey smoke, then completely engulfed in flames within 5 minutes of dash blinking. Complete loss of engine bay

this vehicle is equipped with 3.0 litre ecodiesel. truck has been in for numerous recalls--no problem. i have spoken to numerous buyers of these trucks with this engine and virtually everyone has replaced engine once or sometimes twice. i needed to replace toner wheel behind flywheel a couple weeks ago. this was a 1200.00 fix. stellantis's fix was to reprogram ecu so engine would not fail on highway but did not address the root cause of the problem. i find it appalling that stellantis has not been forced to extend the warranty on these engines since every customer paid extra for the longevity of diesel power. i am afraid to drive this truck since there are probably 2-3 rams every week on facebook marketplace locally with seized engines. this truck has 135000 miles and i am afraid the end is near.

The abs module for this vehicle has failed and is a major safety hazard. A known issue that has been on going with this particular part for years. I myself have waited over 6 months with a lemon of a truck because the part is on back order. We have called multiple dealerships and their response has been, “the part is on manufacturing review. “ No recall for this specific part has been issued and no dealership/insurance or Chrysler themselves have not provided us or any others with a solution.

Driving on the interstate without cruise control on at 70 mph. I had a vehicle passing in the fast lane and a vehicle in front of me slowing down so I applied a little pressure to my brake peddle and my truck automatically began to accelerate on its own. I kept pushing on the brake peddle and it was stuck in a acceleration. The brakes tried slowing it down but it would not stop acceleration once I took my foot of the brake peddle it just rapidly began to pick up speed on its own again! I ended up pushing down on the break peddle long enough to turn off the engine and coast off to the side on the interstate. I was so glad it happened while I was driving it and not my wife she could of wrecked into the back of the vehicle in front of us...

This truck has many issues including emmissions problems thst cussed the truck to go into limp mode related to the boost sensors. This happened to me 3 times on the freeway when the truck flashes service electronic throttle control and power is reduced. On October 28th I was driving the truck on 55 mph roads. As I came to a 45 mph road, the engine started knocking. As I got into stop and go traffic the oil pressure started dropping to 0 and back to normal and the knock got louder. I had the truck towed into the dealership where they verbally quoted me over $24,000 for a new motor. The truck had just over 118,000 miles on it. They stated none of the repairs would be covered by the extended emissions warranty. The dealership then allowed me trade the truck in for less than the value ($16,000) causing extra...

This vehicle lost power while driving and would not re-start. A message came on dash saying “service electronic throttle” and then the vehicle burst into flames. There is a recall for other models with the same engine but not this vehicle. It is a safety hazard that almost killed me.

Exhaust manifolds on 5.7 Litre Hemi’s, bolts that hold exhaust manifold to head break often resulting in exhaust manifold to warp, common issue on various years of 5.7 hemi, the exhaust gases leaking from around the manifold therefore can pass through the firewall, and cabin vent system causing the occupants inside cab to breath dangerous exhaust gases, also resulting in uncontrolled exhaust levels that are not being passed through exhaust system properly equaling higher exhaust emissions. Department of Transportation (DOT) put Tractor Trailers out of service for similar issues due to the health safety risks. This is a common issue with Dodge Hemi 5.7 litre engines of various years and should be a serious issue as breathing carbon monoxide and traces of carbon dioxide are very harmful. Please look into this, the dealership has repaired mine twice with the same faulty parts and now it is bad again and said...

The reluctor wheel on my 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel has failed. The truck was taken to the dealer on May 8th of 2023 where they flashed the ECU as a remedy for the vehicle losing signal between the magnetic material on the Tone Wheel (reluctor wheel). A few months later the vehicle went into "limp mode" with a crankshaft position sensor fault and became hard to start. A local mechanic shop explained to me that the tone wheel is has failed leading to the hard starting and advised me that there is a Technical Service Bulletin on the issue and I should call a local dealer to see if they will do the repair at no cost. I called a local dealer to tell them that the tone wheel has failed and asked if it was part of the recall [XXX] ). I was told no that it is not...

rear Exhaust manifold bolts broken off in engine allowing gas into the cabin. Ram dealer wants $1900 to repair.
#11549974 |
Leaky manifold with broken bolts replaced on passenger side by RAM dealer at my cost. Drivers side now needs replaced. RAM 1500 has 71,000 miles on it. The pickup has and had a ticking noise for at least a year before dealer discovered it during an oil change. I wasn’t aware it was due to the defective manifolds. This seems to be a common problem with RAMs. Concerned about breathing in noxious fumes.

On August 9 2023 I was driving my ram and it just completely shut down. Had towed to dealership. It’s now been 2 months and no answer on when I will be getting my truck fixed. Still making payments on this thing and it’s just sitting and cost me money from sitting. I keep getting the run around from ram

The components that malfunctioned in my 2014 Ecodiesel Ram 1500 was the fuel sending unit and fuel pump. As I was driving on the freeway my truck started cutting out and stalling from 75 mph. It finally stalled and I was able to pull over in the middle island on the freeway I was on. The truck would start then turn off. The fuel gauge read over 1/4 tank of diesel fuel. The safety of myself or my family could have been at risk if someone else was driving that truck. Even for myself trying to pull out of full commuter traffic was very dangerous with a stalled vehicle. I don't know if the problem has been reproduced or reported by any other owner of the same vehicle. The only inspection was done by the Auto shop that works on my truck. Their were no warning lights or alerts on...

My 2014 ram 1500 has a ticking noise which in turn is creating an exhaust smell inside my vehicle which is making me dizzy / sleepy when I drive.
#11546749 |
There have been several recalls on this vehicle. The day after purchase there was a class action settlement. I’m curious as to how the dealership was allowed to sell this vehicle knowing they had all the information in regards to the sell. The vehicle should have had a stop sell. Our family was at risk when the engine started to give out while on the road. The vehicle has been sitting at the shop for months with back and forth on an engine failure, etc. replacement. It’s all fine to purchase the vehicle, yet we are facing the consequences of the manufacturer/dealership negligence and left with no help and being dismissed due to claims of parts not available. We have a family of 6 and down to one vehicle but, not our part but, due to the fact we have one vehicle. I have sent an email 3 times due...

2014 Dodge RAM with the Hemi engine - noticing a ticking sound coming from the truck’s engine bay. Sound seems to lessen or stop after the engine has warmed up. This is from broken exhaust manifold bolts and a broken manifold. This is the third time this has happend with 150k miles. It creates dangerous exhaust leak in engine campartment!

problems with the heating coolant temperature regulation sometimes not heating at all or cooling too much. Check engine light came on and coded that toe coolant bypass valve was the issue. This has since been replaced 4 times over the last two years . The wiring was checked and working. The mechanic (not Dodge) stated that there was a software update needed that had to come from the manufacturer yet the Dodge dealer will not acknowledge this. Technical Service Bulletin [XXX] . No start issue. I initially started my truck and it was running very rough and the check engine light came on so I shut it off, and then attempted to restart my truck and it turned over fine but would not start. This left me stranded out of town late in the day so I had it towed to my home. I have now learned that there are two outstanding recalls, one for the tone wheel (20V475) and for the high pressure fuel pump (22V406) either of which would cause a no start. I have contacted a local dealership and they informed me that they already have a truck in their shop for the same problems and it has been there for over six months. I then called the dealership were I purchased it on July 10, 2023 and they said they could not take care me because the parts...

Engine stalled while passing vehicle on the highway. Lost power no acceleration. Once the engine stalled and I could not accelerate multiple vehicles behind me almost wrecked almost causing a multiple car pile up. It was towed to dealership. Dealership ran its diagnosis and the issue was the tone wheel. They told me it was a recall 66A that has no fix yet. Multiple warning lamps came on once the engine stalled. Once parked tried starting the truck and it would not turn over. It told me to service engine throttle body control. There were no warnings before the engine stalled. I bought the truck a week ago and now I do not have a vehicle or an ETA on when my truck will be fixed. There is another recall out on this truck from almost a year ago with no fix either. I called FCA and all they told...

My truck has 87,000 miles. 1st my engine went out last month because of a known engine issue that Dodge is not owning up to on Hemi engines. 3 weeks later after replacing the engine my Power steering went out as I was driving causing it to be very hard to drive. These are both known issues with these trucks that recalls should in place for. I have spent close to $14,000 in one month fixing these issues Dodge should be paying for on a truck with only 87,000 miles.

On 07 May 2023, the engine temperature light came lite up on my 2014 Ram 1500 which has the Fiat Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine. The engine had approximately 138,000 miles on it. The incident occurred while driving on a major interstate highway with three (3) other people in the vehicle. We were fortunate to have an exit close to where the incident occurred and we were able to get the truck off the highway. An independent service center was contacted and performed a diagnostic on the truck. They only code found at the time was for the engine temperature light. On 21 May 2023, the check engine light came on with no warning nor were there any previous or prior failures with the coolant system. A scan revealed a P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire was detected. On 25 May 2023, I replaced all six (6) spark plugs and coil packs....

When driving vehicle with my with the check engine light appeared. We were on interstate and truck would not accelerate above 45-50 mph with intermittent surges. I called dealership and they took in my vehicle and replaced the Module Powertrain Control stating that would fix issue. After replacing MPC they check engine light was still not repaired. Dealership told me that fuel pump, fuel lines, intake manifold, and coolant leak needed to be repaired, I asked dealership if that would fix issue and they stated that they did not know and were working with Chrysler/Dodge/Ram to resolve. After a total of 7 weeks the repairs are still not completed. Prior to picking up vehicle I called FCA USA LLC and asked what was being done to get recalls repaired and received responses that repair solution has not been sent to dealerships and another stated parts were not available. I picked...

This is the second attempt reporting this issue with this vehicle and I have not received any response. This vehicle has recalls and was sold with recalls, in which I find this highly irresponsible from all angles. You can see for yourself the safety risks, it is very clear it is a safety hazard issue. Yes, the vehicle has been looked at and we have the proper paperwork and also, yes, warning lights have come on and they were checked and dismissed as “normal.” It is not normal, nor is it safe, nor is this acceptable. Not a single person, manufacturer, even cares to fix this problem that did not occur on our behalf, it is due to horrible manufacturing. How these vehicles are allowed to be sold blows my mind.
#11533706 |
This whole vehicle has several recalls, looking at what the recalls stated, those are all safety issues that could occur at any moment. The engine has failed in said vehicle. The issues at hand have been confirmed by a registered mechanic. He was unable to locate any engine for this vehicle and it was taken to a dealership, in which they will not fix. Also, have been in touch with Stillantis, however, after giving them time to respond after the initial conversation, to find out they never took down our information. Another issue is they lied and said the dealership said it was fine. The problem is that was a definite lie. They did not know where or what dealership. This vehicle was made and sold to be reliable but, it is not. There are recalls and there have been class action lawsuits but, no one is willing to help...

#11528489 |
On May 26th, 2023 I was driving my Ram 1500 with 3.0 liter diesel down a multilane road with traffic. At about 30 mph, normal driving, the engine stalled without warning and power brakes and steering were lost. Traffic continued to pass as I had to cross lanes of traffic and coast to a stop out of the way of traffic. The vehicle could not be restarted or put into neutral to move. There were no abnormal driving issues, noises, warnings, or messages prior to the event. The truck was towed to a Ram dealership for inspection. The engine code clearly indicated that there was an issue with the crankshaft sensor. The dealership diagnosis was that the oil pump had failed and the engine was destroyed. After towing it to a second, independent shop, the actual diagnosis is that the reluctor wheel (tone wheel) and crankshaft sensor had failed, preventing...

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while slowing down for a traffic signal or for traffic, the vehicle RPM’s fell to 564 RPM, and the vehicle started to stall. The contact stated that the target idle RPM should be set to approximately 900 RPM while idling. The contact stated that the failure was constant and had to have the vehicle towed several times due to not being able to restart the vehicle following a stall. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the RPM settings could not be changed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Check engine light came on after replacing spark plugs and coil packs. Code reads cylinder 03 misfire. Engine has a ticking noise. Cam and lifters are what's causing the check engine light. If not replaced with the upgraded cam and lifters, engine will be no good. Would be very unsafe if my engine were to blow up while driving on the freeway or around town with my children. Dodge knows these cams and lifters are junk and should replace them with the upgraded ones

I have a loud ticking noise doing startup which appears to be coming from the engine compartment. Upon further investigation, there are several owners that's having the same problem which they call the hemi tick. This should be investigated as a defect with the 5.7L engine and recalled. My vehicle was purchased new.
#11493558 |
Exhaust manifold bolts have broken causing a ticking sound upon cold start. This is the passenger side. Same thing happened on drivers side a few years ago. This is a well known problem with Ram Hemi engines and should be considered a manufacturer defect and repaired free of cost
#11489691 |
This is the second time I've reported still no recall. These 5.7 are dangerous, with virtually no miles on them, the camshafts can have a lobe warn down, from oiling issued and the faulty MDS systems in these trucks. Mine stalled in the middle of a intersection with my wife and kids, these engines are unsafe and need to seriously be reevaluated. Also the timing chain guides prematurely wear out, causing excess play in the chain and can jump time and severely loose power or even stall out completely. Recall these engines, or I will make it public via YouTube, and facebook.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle was jerking and he noticed a sudden drop in the gas mileage. No warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that he heard an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed the contact that the abnormal ticking sound could be associated with the exhaust manifold failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as an engine cylinder misfire. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the engine would need to be dismantled in order to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

in my case it's the hemi tick i took my truck to the dealer they said that i didn't have the tick now but the tech told me if I wanted to replace the lifter and cam it would cost me 6,000.00. The problem is that the oil pump doesn't pump oil into the lifter when idling it's a faulty oil pump and Chrysler isn't taken responsibility.
