Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE NEXT LANE, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND DID NOT RELEASE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE'S SPEED TO INCREASE TO APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ATTEMPT TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, IT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL THE CONTACT DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PLACED THE GEAR IN PARK, AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE FAILURE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUBURBAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF TROY (LOCATED AT 1790 MAPLELAWN DR, TROY, MI 48084, 248-585-8800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX].
