2018 RAM 2500 Forward Collision Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking Problems

This has been a recall for almost 2 yrs now and the dealer is saying no parts available. There are 1000s of RAM trucks driving around waiting for parts. A simple google search shows there are parts available on line. What is taking so long. This should have been resolved a year ago.

It has been 7months since I bought my truck. STILL I have an open safety recall that hasn’t been fixed since no parts are available. I live in the Midwest and bought a ram truck just for the snow and conditions. I’ve been stuck more this winter than ever due to this abs recall. It takes away traction control, takes away cruise control. It’s not safe at all. I need this figured out IMMEDIATELY

I am in Virginia and received a recall code C0020-01 for general abs fault. The truck continues to beep alerting me of this fact. I need replacement of the hcu. Which i have been told controls the breaking hydraulics. To me this seems to be of concern and could easily cause an accident and injury. This has been occurring since August of 2025 and I have been in contact with the dealership, Blackwell of Danville, VA, since then. On 11/1/25 I went into the dealership for other issues but this problem as well. They told me there is no part available for replacement and hasn't been for over a year. Well we are in a new year so how much longer do I need to wait for my truck to be safe?

ABS and Electronic Braking System. I have not been able to use cruise control because this problem with my brakes also disabled my cruise control. I worry about my brakes failing. The part(s) needed to repair this have not been made available so I've been advised to not have it serviced until repair parts can be made available. I have had warning lamps light up on the dash since December of 2022. It's been over three years and RAM is not handling this in a timely fashion. I'm concerned about my brakes failing.

The cruise control on our truck does not work when the Hydraulic Control Unit is not working. It has started having issues this past summer which causes the message to be displayed on our dash with a warning sound. This may cause the ABS and ESC not to work properly, which is very concerning. We had planned to pull our 30 ft travel trailer across the US this winter to the south, but with these issues, we are hesitant to drive the truck a long distance. We are also hoping that the truck will stop correctly this winter since we live in Wisconsin and have snow and ice that we have drive in on a regular basis. ABS module/ HCU faulty. This has been replaced 2 times and lasts 3 years. Dealership says no fix has been made at this time for recall. No new parts to fix it, ABS light constantly going off.

Recall 24V-896, cannot be repaired, no repair timeline in site, vehicle is coding and dealership has confirmed code. Driving cruise will turn off and braking system becomes difficult and unstable. Warning systems come one. Dealership attempted to repair but manufacture advised they were not allowed to do so because it would not be permanent. In November 2024 through December 2025 our Ram started experiencing issues with the traction control and ABS lights coming on randomly and the vehicle not braking properly. Braking in corners is very sketchy and feels like you are going to run off the road. As December went on, all brake related lights stayed on and the truck feels like it has manual brakes from the 1970s. We received a Legal Notice explaining there is a class action settlement going on due to the ABS module and Brake HCU on our truck in late December 2024. We did not drive the truck long distances for the latter half of December due to the issues we were experiencing plus receiving the legal notice. On August 10, 2022 the truck was presented to the dealership because the ABS system was failing. This was prior to the recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. I paid to have the system repaired. A recall was issued AFTER that date. I submitted a claim and was paid for my expenses by FCA. On March 3, 2025 the system notification system flashed warning the the ABS system was failing. I immediately took the truck to Mac Haik dealership and was advised that I could safely drive the truck until the following Monday when I could drop it off for diagnostic testing. The diagnostic testing revealed that the system was failing BUT FCA would not cover the full cost of the repairs. They would require "Customer Participation" payment of $546.00. I refused the repair because the repairs done August 2022, PRIOR to the recall was failing, so that told me that the parts...

My ABS light keeps coming on intermittently. I been calling mopar since this recall started in 2024 and they are not supplying needed parts to the dealership to fix it. I call mopar and no ETA on the parts. I want this fixed since they said it can cause my truck to wreck with no notice. I have kids in my truck all the time and mad on delay. How are they getting by not fixing this.

I have received an "Important Safety Recall" issued for my vehicle. In the notice, it states that "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." I have contacted the dealership as well as RAM offices with no answer other than that the part is not available. As a safety issue, this is unacceptable. Please know that legal representation will be sought out.

This is 3rd time I have had ABS failed. Truck only has 66,000 miles on it and this has happened for 3rd time. Has been twice repaired by Ram dealer in Denham Springs Louisiana. Evidently parts are defective. I am original owner. First time happened at 24,700 miles. Second time at 48,200 miles. Third time at 66,000 miles. Evidently bad parts.

Intermittent Electronic Brake System and ABS Failure messages. Been dealing with this issue for over a year now. Dealership told me I had to wait almost a year before there would be a fix and that’s if I’m lucky. The ABS pump motor and the software are both faulty and Ram is aware of how to fix it, and haven’t. There needs to be a recall for issue, ASAP.

As I am driving, (2018 ram 2500 6.7l with 45000 miles) the “service electronic brake system” and “service automatic brake system” will flash on and off intermittently. I took it to the dealership and they stated possibly the HCU. But since the codes flash intermittently and at completely random times they couldn’t say fer sure. But it does have to do with HCU system. I did a quick google search and discovered this is a recurring issue with the 2017-2018 Ram models.

In reading all the forum ABS and traction control fault. Comes on and off depending on speed and hit any bumps in the road. Looks like there is open recalls but none for 2018 RAM 2500 Diesel. This is a safety issue and could cause a massive accident. Cruise control will not work when sensors are on.

Service electronic braking system continues to flash along with Service Antilock brake system--This is a failure of the HCU (hydrolic control unit) that should be a RECALL. Thousands of people are having the same issue.

And the anti-breaking system and the electronic braking system lights keep coming on. Maybe two months ago I had to have the left wheel assembly, everything repaired because the wheel was about to fall off.

Intermittent ABS brake error code C0020 - "Recirculation pump general electrical failure". This error occurs then clears within seconds while normal driving. No special weather conditions, road conditions or temperatures noted. May drive 5 miles, 50 miles or 500 miles before error occurs again. Only 6150 miles on vehicle. Repair parts scarce or not available.

ABS light and traction control lights are on and off with the service light on dash on and off.When the abs light and traction light comes on it also disables the cruse control to the off position. Performance is totally reduced ! Vehicle shows active code C0020 for ABS pump motor control general electric failure..Diagnostic issued said to replace the hydraulic control unit. The problem was inspected by the Ram dealer and was reproduced by the tech and is currently being repaired by the Ram dealer. We were notified the complete unit was not available and only the possibility of the control motor was available at this time at a cost of $1400 give or take. On 07/02/2022 I had my Dodge Ram 2500 serviced and assessed for Electronic Braking System Warning and Service Soon light on, by Farlow Automotive 500 S. Wickham Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904 (321) 724-8888. The issue was diagnosed and identified as a bad ABS Control Module as well as a bad ABS Hydraulic Unit. The parts were ordered and installed on 07/20/2022. Following the installation the same Electronic Braking System Warning and Service Soon light went on again. I brought the truck back to Farlow Automotive immediately after the new braking units were installed and it was diagnosed as a faulty ABS Control Module and ABS Hydraulic Unit from the manufacturer. It has been over 2 years since the faulty ABS control module and ABS hydraulic unit has been installed and we have not received appropriate replacement to remedy this important braking system malfunction. Abs control module & HCU module not working properly. Ram brand knows about these problematic modules on the 2014-2018 rams trucks. Now, I can’t drive my truck since Ram fixes this issue.

ABS Pump failure: First occurrence July 18 2022. Mileage 24268 ABS pump replace under warranty by dealership. Second occurrence: July 23 2024 Mileage 45907 ABS pump not replaced as of yet, parts out of warranty by one week. OEM warranty out by 25 months. I am the original owner and this vehicle has been gently used and not abused. The ABS pump failure, two occasions, of a part which should be have a life expectance of 100,000 miles, minimum.. Two failures at less than 50K miles in my mind is not acceptable, especially with a safety related part. From the research I have done, additionally talking with other owners and dealership technicians, this is a common problem especially with the 2017 - 2018 year model vehicles. Something should be done to rectify this issue.

My ABS system has started going off and on intermittently but regularly. It turns my cruise control off and creates a hazardous situation with both traveling on interstate and when raining as I have no ABS.

My ABS system went out while under warranty. A couple years later now I'm getting ABS module warnings. Brakes are different and the cruise control is affected at times. Sounds like very common issue to certain Ram owners. We need a recall.

The ABS is malfunctioning and affecting cruise control. This can cause major safety issues. The truck is constantly dinging over and over while I drive. I contacted the dealer but they said ram has not came out with the parts to repair it yet. There is a class action lawsuit against them for this reason but nothing is still being done yet. Many people have complained of this issue.

Issue with the Hydraulic Control Unit. It requires replacing.

ABS and traction control lights come on intermittently. Cruise control won’t work when this happens. Problem seems to be a wiring issue and mainly happens during wet conditions and then stops after engine compartment warms up. I’m guessing ABS brake’s won’t function when light is on.

Abs light keeps intermittent and loss of traction control! Hcu or Abs module is the problem for the intermittent cycle on the dash! Seen other people having similar problems with that particular year 2017-2018 rams 2500-3500 models.

For the second time since the vehicle's purchase in 2019, the Antilock Braking System is flashing an intermittent error stating that the Antilock Braking System needs to be serviced. Electronic brake control module failure, 2 nd time . Vehicle has less than 46000 miles. I am told this is. Very common problem due to defect in control motor and causes a braking safety issue.

ABS and traction control lights going off and on. Stating abs need serviced. Took to a auto maintenance and told it need anew pump and module would not be available until August 24,2024. In January 2021hydraulic unit was replaced now need to replace it again

Hydraulic Control Unit failed, along with the control module per dealer diagnostics. The ABS warning and traction control light is flashing consistently, and the ABS system is not working. The dealer has indicated there is no estimate on when these parts will be available. This is the third occurrence of the same bad components.

2018 Powerwagon intermittent abs traction control light dinging on and off randomly. Does it more in bad weather. During dry sunny days sometimes it never comes on. From what I can tell I don’t seem to have any problem with my brakes.
