2018 RAM 2500 Forward Collision Avoidance Adaptive Cruise Control Problems

It has been 7months since I bought my truck. STILL I have an open safety recall that hasn’t been fixed since no parts are available. I live in the Midwest and bought a ram truck just for the snow and conditions. I’ve been stuck more this winter than ever due to this abs recall. It takes away traction control, takes away cruise control. It’s not safe at all. I need this figured out IMMEDIATELY

Been getting abs warning alarm for over 2 years and no fix in site. Also cruise does not function when in alarm been living with this alarm for 2 years or more. I would like to sell vehicle but cannot with this unrepaired recall. Need some action asap.

The cruise control on our truck does not work when the Hydraulic Control Unit is not working. It has started having issues this past summer which causes the message to be displayed on our dash with a warning sound. This may cause the ABS and ESC not to work properly, which is very concerning. We had planned to pull our 30 ft travel trailer across the US this winter to the south, but with these issues, we are hesitant to drive the truck a long distance. We are also hoping that the truck will stop correctly this winter since we live in Wisconsin and have snow and ice that we have drive in on a regular basis. Abs light and traction control light stays on plus keeps popping up to service electric trailers brakes. Electric trailer brakes well not work. Cruise control stopped working. All do to recall. Truck has had this recall for over a year now and I’ll I ever get told by dealerships that the parts are unavailable. Dodge makes this junk ass trucks everyday so I don’t understand why parts are unavailable.

•Side curtain airbag malfunction front driver's side. The truck has a warning light for the airbag and the computer diagnostics says it is a side airbag malfunction. The vehicle is well kept and has not been damaged. Mopar does not lost this malfunction and recall as included in my VIN •Cruise control malfunction The cruise control sporadically does not turn on when the button is pressed. The button may need to be pressed a dozen times before it activates and cruise control is available to be set for a given speed and then engaged. This has occurred since purchase brand new at the original dealership at less than 25 miles on odometer. Mopar does not list this malfunction/recall for my VIN. •Hydraulic Control Unit recall difficulties. The dealership has stated multiple times it has no replacement parts to do the recall repair covered under NHTSA Recall # 24V-896.

Under the Recall information it shows that this vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the ABS system in Major. It will go off and go on all by itself while I’m driving. and they can’t get the part I need.

ABS INTERMITTENTLY ALARMS VERY FREQUENTLY AND CAUSES THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DROP OUT. I ASSUME THE ABS IS USELESS AND THIS TAKING PLACE. I’M TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

The ABS brake warning lights are on all the time. I have no cruise control. There are times when I can't even shift my vehicle into gear. I will be checking to see if I even have 4wd with this light on. But, haven't tried it since the lights have been on.

The Anti-Brake system ABS and ESC Electronic Stability Control alert keeps coming on and off on my dashboard. The cruise control will shut off by itself when this alert comes on. The alerts appear randomly and all various speeds. I took this to the dealership in October of 2022 for this issue and they replaced the anti-lock brake controller and bled the brakes. I had to pay $1000 out of pocket cost as my truck was no longer under warranty. The same issue has started occurring again in June of 2024. ABS won't stay engaged causing traction control to not stay engaged and causes cruise control to not stay engaged. Skidding and loss of control are possible without ABS and traction control systems working. Loss of cruise control can cause rear impact from sudden slow down. Same problems are occurring in similar vehicles. Console chimes and ABS and traction control indicator lights come on. Message to service ABS system appears on console.

I am getting a warning saying to service the anti lock brakes and the traction control. I have had this same issue before and paid the dealership to fix it. Also when the warning appears the cruise control shuts off. I am concerned about the loss of control of the vehicle.

The ABS dash light and traction control light started coming on about a year ago. the light is intermittent with a ding sound. Some days it comes on non stop, sometimes it doesn’t come on at all. cruise control does not work, and “park rear” button is not able to get out of the off mode.

In reading all the forum ABS and traction control fault. Comes on and off depending on speed and hit any bumps in the road. Looks like there is open recalls but none for 2018 RAM 2500 Diesel. This is a safety issue and could cause a massive accident. Cruise control will not work when sensors are on.

Thai dang ABS going out in these trucks. And still no fix. Went out when going down the high way. Kicked out Cruze co trip 4 we and all sensors. Almost died this is crap that nothing is being done to fix this and get a part that fixes this for the customers that bought these trucks. I have a 50k truck I can’t drive. Brake module malfunction kicks out cruise control and dings constantly. Seems to be a recall for other years but this year is missing?

My abs/traction control and electric braking system warning light has recently cone one for the third time. The first time it was repaired around 3,200 miles, the second time was around 32,000 miles and now around 72,000 miles. The light flases randomly and when it does i can't use my cruise control.My vehicle can be inspected any time.

ABS light come on and the service antilock brake system light comes on and NO cruise control, happening all the time so NO ABS systems and in south dakota that is a big problem and no parts for 8 months now comes on when you hit a bump all the time 68 times driving 50 miles

The ABS is malfunctioning and affecting cruise control. This can cause major safety issues. The truck is constantly dinging over and over while I drive. I contacted the dealer but they said ram has not came out with the parts to repair it yet. There is a class action lawsuit against them for this reason but nothing is still being done yet. Many people have complained of this issue.

Hi, The ABS System shows Service Antilock Brake System at the display, It comes and go so I assume that it is an intermittent issue, it does stays for hours or days and go on ad off during the whole drive, definitely is an issue. It allow the brakes to preventing locket when brake on certain circumstances. Had an issue on a wet pavement and have to handle to avoid crash with other vehicle cause the tires got locket and the truck slipped on the pavement for a considerable amount of feet's. Dealer inspected and replaced the module under warranty when I bought the truck and told me that it has to be replaced again.

The Hydraulic Control Unit begins to malfunction presenting on the ECU as C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control-General Electrical Failure. This is fairly common in 4th generation 2500-3500 RAM trucks. The malfunction affects the ABS system, Traction Control system, and Adaptive Cruse Control system by deactivating them when the malfunction presents. This could cause the braking system and other systems to not perform in hard breaking/ emergency braking situations causing the operator to loose control of the vehicle. The Traction Control system and ABS system warning lights illuminate on the dash and the message of "service electronic braking system" is displayed on the HUD.

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS TURNS THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL COMPLAITS.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, an alarm sounded, and the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving, causing the ABS and the cruise control features to become inoperable. The contact stated while driving and slamming on the brakes on several occasions to come to a complete stop, the ABS was inoperable, causing the tires to lock and the vehicle to slide. The contact who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was contacted for parts several times and informed the contact that the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

ABS, traction control, cruise control, 4WD works intermittently ABS and traction control warning flash, wile ABS light is on you can not use traction control ABS system does not engage and cruise control is inoperable. Seen by dealer (benson CDJR) in April and June of 2023 and parts to repair were NOT available. Being seen again as new part is currently available to be repaired 4/6/24. After 1 year of not being able to find a solution for the problem. I have slid on sharp turns, got stuck wile pulling camper due to no 4wd among other issues. Contacted RAM regarding replacement assistance and they denied due to after market warranty. I am still responsible for 250$ for a repair that should have been a recall for Sevier safety concerns by RAM

ABS and Traction light on dash. Chiming of alarm. This alarm turns off cruise control and feels like it applies the brakes at 70 mph. Lots of brake dust accumulating on my rims. It happens some days but not every day. Some days there is a constant alarm chime and cruise won't activate. On 10/24/23, parts weren't scheduled to be released until February 2024. Charged over $100 diagnostic fee for the ABS, traction control lights on the dash. By looking at other reports, this has been an issue for several years. They have known for over 2 years that there is an issue. Why is it taking so long to get a fix in place? ABS is a safety system. This should be a recall. The recall should cover replacing the brake pads and rotors also.

Abs and traction control light come on. Then off. Some days every 5 minutes. Some days once a day. Alarms sound. ABS and cruise control won’t work. Dealer reported over 10k truck have issue. I keep getting an Electronic Brake Service message and ABS message that randomly starts dinging and popping up on my display that also disables my cruise control. This obviously is a known issue and I would like to know what is being done to correct this. I have read several and seen over 3000 reports of this problem so why is it not being addressed to make our vehicles safer when it is a known fault. We travel with our camper and travel baseball all summer long and this is not acceptable when it comes to my family or the safety of others on the road around me.

The vehicle has lost all antilock brakes Lights on dash warn there is a issue with vehicle safety capabilities. The trailer brakes will not activate. Dealer says common issues with 2017 2018 and cannot fix due to parts not available for a year. People are putting their lives in danger operating this truck with this issue. I have had work on this problem before costing thousands of dollars. I can't belive you let them effectively shun safety and lives.

I have an intermittent abs warning that turns off abs,traction control, and makes the truck brake worse when it happens. Diagnostics indicate a abs pump failure performed at dealer and an independent shop. Dealership says there’s a hold on the part from Chrysler engineering. I have been informed it’s several of the 2017-2018 2500 rams and makes driving the truck dangerous.

The ABS light continuously comes on and off, especially when hitting a bump or going down a gravel road. Traction control light and ABS light will come on and off which ultimately causes a lack of control when roads are icy or wet. It's especially dangerous while in tow.

2018 Ram 2500 6.7 L Problems with ABS Module Control. Replaced in October of 2021 now bad again and on back order with no date available. This module controles abs braking, traction control which are safety items designed into the truck. I've had the truck to 2 different repair shops and both confirm the problem and both tell me that Ram is having a problem with this part and the the part is on backorder

The ABS light has continuously turned on the last two years of owning the truck. We took it to a mechanic that informed us a recall should be called because it was a common problem that 2018 Ram 2500 have been experiencing. A recall still hasn’t been called even though many people have had the same issue.

While driving the ABS lights flash on and gives warning the ABS system need service. Also traction control light comes on and cruise control stops working. Ram knows there is a problem with 2017 and 2018 2500 and 3500 AB S module.

ABS lights go on and the truck chimes sometimes, not all the time. Cruise intermittently does not work as well. This is a well-documented issue online. I took this to the original dealer and he said this is a common problem. Even after getting it fixed, it will occur again. The dealer said it is still supposedly safe to drive, but it is very concerning to see ABS warning lights regularly popping up on my dashboard. Many others have parked their trucks and are not driving them because of this issue.

Service electronic brakes, traction control, and service trailer brakes light stays on.

At exactly 75100 miles my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman gets a warning light to service my anti-lock braking system. Since I was on a trip I also noticed when the warning comes on it also disengages the cruise control. This has been happening for over 1,000 miles and a couple of months. I've tried to look up to see if there's a recall, but there isn't. I do see several hundred posts/complaints online and even other people contacting NHTSB about this issue. My truck seems to be acting fine now, but I haven't had the time to bring it into a dealership since I'm constantly on the road. I have tried to contact a Ram dealership service department, but no help come of it. Since Ram knows about this, they should recall the trucks and fix them.

Got a code for service abs system, abs module pump bad. Ram cannot even get people in to fix the issue and they want like 2000 dollars out the door to fix this unsafe issue. I also have no cruise control now and no abs. This is an absolute shame that my truck only has 66k mostly highway miles and is now worthless because I cannot afford to fix it. Ram will not fix this issue under warranty. There is a current lawsuit under James Neu vs. Fiat Chrysler to get them to make this a warranty issue and fix it. Please please please release the recall so we can get our trucks fixed! Thousands of trucks are affected and at risk of accident. ABS & traction control lights on along with messages reading "Service Antilock braking system and Service Electronic Braking System. 1st intermittently then very often. Code C0020-01 is stored in the system via OBDII scanner. It is available for inspection at any time. I can not tow anything that requires trailer brakes because I here, through many other online complaints that trailer braking will be inhibited. I have not yet taken it to the dealer yet because it is out of warranty and the part required to fix it properly won't be built/available until Feb 2024. I first saw warning lights/messages in July of this year 2023 with around 37,000 miles. See attached pics.

The truck intermittently shows an alarm for failure of the abs braking system. This suddenly shuts off the cruse control and disables the abs. The loss of cruse control caused the truck to suddenly drop in speed in a highway traffic situation, which nearly caused a car behind me to hit me. The loss of abs leaves the truck vulnerable to brake related accidents in slippery or wet weather. I contacted a dealer for the replacement parts and they told me they would not be available until a new generation of abs module and hydraulic control unit were available. I believe the NHTSA should demand a recall for this extensive and dangerous issue.

This is my 4th HCU/ABS Failure. 3 Priors were replaced/reported in FEB/March to NHTSA. ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system. This can cause a sudden and unexpected deceleration or loss of vehicle control, as the traction control system also shuts off without warning. The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. ABS Control Module causing ABS light to come on, consistent audio warning, and disengages Cruise Control function. Currently being diagnosed by Dodge dealer the ABS Module and Hydraulic Control Units failing internally. Initially it was very seldom, and now is constant.

The Hydraulic Control Unit Chrysler part number 68143491AA failed and been replaced multiply times on my vehicle. I have the current failed part available for inspection upon request. This causes the Anti-lock braking system and Traction control system to no longer function limiting function under wet or slippery conditions. This puts the driver and others at risk. The problem has been reproduced by my local dealer twice both with the original part and its' replacements. I am adding the first date below. The second failure was 12,000 miles later after the first was ABS was fixed. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no Warning lamps/messaged before failure only after. These would be ABS lamp and traction control lamp plus a service ABS warning message.
