My HCU is out and constantly dinging at me for no traction control and ABS. I know this is recalled and I have been waiting over a year and FCA still doesn't appear to have a remedy for this.

I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V‑896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: 3C6UR5CL4JG333543). I am active‑duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has...

This has been a recall for almost 2 yrs now and the dealer is saying no parts available. There are 1000s of RAM trucks driving around waiting for parts. A simple google search shows there are parts available on line. What is taking so long. This should have been resolved a year ago.

ABS system doesnt work. no update on recall c4b. have had this issue since 2023
#11718432 |
Received a recall letter Jan 2024 concerning C4B/NHTSA24V-896. I have contacted the FCA recall assistance center several times since then. They say there is no parts available for this recall. Yet they have not seemed to have this problem with 2019-2026 models. They say I can have the HCU replaced at my own cost and they will reimburse me for the cost. But there is no guaranty it will fix the problem or how long it may last if it does. This causes me problems because why should I have to pay nd Waite on my money to be returned to me in 60 days. I am retired and on Social security and can only afford to put this on a credit and which I would have to pay interest on. It seems you or FCA has any intentions of coming up with a fix for this recall.

Have had an open Recall since December 2024. To date 2/17/2026 I just confirmed that the dealer has no current repair options for the recall: The Warning light came on November 1,2024. Manufacturer Recall NumberC4B NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 Recall Status Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available

My 2018 Ram 2500 has an active safety recall for the ABS/EBS system that has been open for over two years with no remedy or parts available. The issue was first noticed in August of 2023. I contacted CDJR dealership on how to repair this issue. This is a serious safety defect that directly affects braking stability, trailer brake communication, and emergency handling. Because the ABS module and electronic brake system are malfunctioning, the truck cannot safely perform the heavy towing it was purchased for. When towing a large trailer, the trailer’s electronic braking system does not communicate with the truck, forcing the truck to absorb the full braking load. This has resulted in unstable braking, increased stopping distance, and unsafe emergency handling at highway speeds. The ABS fault also disables cruise control, which significantly increases driver fatigue on long-distance trips. I regularly travel 1,500 miles each way to Florida,...

The warning lights have been on for months indicating the ABS is malfunctioning, we have had it to the dealership garage several times and they keep telling us we are on the list but the parts are not available even though it has been over a year. If they fail completely we will have no control over the braking system which can cause a vehicle crash. We have to limit the driving we do with our vehicle because of the danger that is involved. We have another issue for our vehicle: I contacted Chrysler twice with no response. and addressed it with our dealership and they have not helped. We have reported this issue to Chrysler about our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins diesel concerning the Particulate Matter Sensor. This has been ongoing for a year and Chrysler is aware of this problem and has issued recalls on them...

Received recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 on 27 Nov. 2024. Remedy for this defect has not been completed as of this date. I tried on AUG 1 2025 to have it corrected at the Berlin City Ram dealership with no luck. I asked the dealership again today 12 Feb 2026 about the repairs and was told they do not have a remedy yet for this. I called Chrysler Customer Care 12 Feb 2026 and was told there is still no remedy. My state Vehicle inspection is due in March, and will not pass inspection due to the ABS/ESC Lights being on. What do when the vehicle fails inspection and i cannot drive it?

Abs hcu/ module malfunctions. Has been for 1.5 - 2 years now. Waiting on recall to be complete for a long time. Scared to drive truc long distances but still have to pay for it.

I have been in need of a repair for the C4B recall for well over a year. My truck is unsafe to drive. No ABS, no traction control, no cruise control. I also cannot use 4wd with this issue. My truck has been undriveable for this time frame.
#11714944 |
ABS and traction control continously comes on and off. Recieved safety recall almost a year ago. Have been to my local dealership several times over the last year to get recall fixed. Went as recently as today. Each time I am being told no parts / fix is available. It is my understanding this is a major safety concern and it is unacceptable not to have a fix.
#11714756 |
This recall affects the brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") on my RAM 2500. I already had this part replaced back in 2022, and it went bad again in the Summer of 2025. I'm trying to sell the truck, but the incessant error messages and bell ringing makes that impossible. Nobody is going to buy a truck in this condition. Ram has known about this for years, and the recall was issued 14 months ago. Still no fix? I had the truck to my dealer last week and they said they are unable to help me with a replacement part, because it is not available. So now I'm driving around with a broken ABS system and constant error messages and audible warnings from my dashboard. For such a big company, it shouldn't take this long to develop a remedy to this problem. Anything you can do to assist would be appreciated....

CB4 Recall Some (2017-2018 MY Ram xxx) vehicles may have been built with a brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") that is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance. A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/Traction control progressing to permanent loss. Been dealing with this issue since the recall got initiated back in November 2024. I call Mopar every month to check on the status and still no parts available. I haven't had any brake failures in my truck or scares, but whoever has this issue has to understand how annoying the constant chime is. Can't use cruise control and worst thing is if you are considering selling your truck outside of a Ram dealer, they won't take it in because of the open recall and privately, who would...

It has been 7months since I bought my truck. STILL I have an open safety recall that hasn’t been fixed since no parts are available. I live in the Midwest and bought a ram truck just for the snow and conditions. I’ve been stuck more this winter than ever due to this abs recall. It takes away traction control, takes away cruise control. It’s not safe at all. I need this figured out IMMEDIATELY
#11714459 |
ABS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS BEEN ON/OFF SINCE 2020. Can't drive on snow ice due to traction control abs 4-wheel drive doesn't work correct. I almost hit the divider/wall on Interstate 30 on 01/28/26 due from poor braking.
#11714608 |
Dash warnings for abs / traction control flicker on and off steadily. Every time the warnings come off it kicks off cruise control. I live in often snowy conditions and I worry that steadily changing traction control systems will absolutely be dangerous. Not to mention the frustrating noises of the alerts coming on Avery few seconds. As I was told by my dealer, this recall has been out there since December of 2024. I’ve been dealing with this issue for months and it is getting worse.
#11714147 |
My truck has had the issue stated in recall C4B since November of 2024, per the recall a solution was to be provided by first quarter of 2025. It is now first quarter of 2026, the recall still shows no parts available, dealers state no parts are available and this is a ridiculous amount of time to remedy a safety recall. Truck currently has multiple lights/issues related to the problem, no traction control and no cruise control for over a year and a half now. This problem needs to fixed ASAP, it's ridiculous.
#11713452 |
RAM or FCA USA has not timely made parts available to address the Recall C4B on my 2018 RAM 2500 HD Truck. I have been driving it without anti-lock braking system and without the skid control engaged due to the failed HCU unit covered by this Recall. I have called RAM customer care multiple times and they tell me their engineers are working on it, but they have not estimated time for the parts to be available. it has been 14 months since I first received the recall notice. This is an excessive amount of time to still not have a remedy available. Especially when RAM has remedied the same issue with the RAM 3500 Chassis.
#11712390 |
The failure and recall of the HCU( hydraulic control unit) means that my truck • ABS (antilock brake system ) failure • 4 wheel drive failure This poses a severe safety risk to the driver and passengers in this vehicle. It has been over a year that this issue hasn’t been resolved.
#11711604 |
Been getting abs warning alarm for over 2 years and no fix in site. Also cruise does not function when in alarm been living with this alarm for 2 years or more. I would like to sell vehicle but cannot with this unrepaired recall. Need some action asap.
#11711612 |
I have had this recall for over 3 years and its still not fix. Its dangerous to drive because you will never know when the brakes goes out completely. I have call the dealership many times and I receive the same answer like they waiting on the parts to arrive.

Code C0020-01 ABS-VSC lamp and intermittent warning chime.
#11711237 |
I am in Virginia and received a recall code C0020-01 for general abs fault. The truck continues to beep alerting me of this fact. I need replacement of the hcu. Which i have been told controls the breaking hydraulics. To me this seems to be of concern and could easily cause an accident and injury. This has been occurring since August of 2025 and I have been in contact with the dealership, Blackwell of Danville, VA, since then. On 11/1/25 I went into the dealership for other issues but this problem as well. They told me there is no part available for replacement and hasn't been for over a year. Well we are in a new year so how much longer do I need to wait for my truck to be safe?
#11711005 |
Abs control module defective been having this problem for over five years. Ram just keeps saying no parts available. That they are working on solution. I think they are dragging there feet on purpose hoping the trucks will wear out before they have to fix. These companies need to be held accountable. Thanks for any help

Anti lock brake control has failed twice and then afects cruise control and warning bell continues to ring paid to have fixed twice and still no factory fix .it hs been on recall list for years now!

I own a 2018 Ram 2500 equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine that I purchased brand new in Iowa. For approximately the last four to five years, my vehicle has displayed persistent warnings including “Service Electronic Braking System,” ABS warning light, and traction control warnings, accompanied by constant audible alerts. As a result, multiple braking safety systems are disabled, including anti-lock braking, stability control, traction control, and cruise control. For several years I contacted Ram dealerships and the manufacturer regarding this issue and was repeatedly told that repair parts were unavailable. During this time, widespread reports of identical failures were being discussed on owner forums and among dealerships. A federal safety recall was eventually issued for the ABS control module, and I received my official recall notification letter approximately one year ago. Despite the recall being active, the manufacturer and local dealerships continue to state that no replacement parts...

Service ABS light constantly alerting, every time I touch brakes. Loses cruise control. I called two local dealerships who tell me parts are unavailable. This is on recall, why aren’t parts available?
#11709330 |
The manufacturer has had a recall out since November 2024. It is now Jan 2026 and no word from the manufacturer when the parts will be availiable. My truck continually gets an ABS warning. I have contacted the dealer several times with no help. I believe the recall should have been address sooner than this.

I recieved a recall ncotice # 24v-896 on my vehicle over a year ago and there is still "no parts available" to fix it. The break HCU needs to be replaced. This is a huge safty concern!! The brake system in my vehicle has become more and more unpredictable in the past few months.

ABS and Electronic Braking System. I have not been able to use cruise control because this problem with my brakes also disabled my cruise control. I worry about my brakes failing. The part(s) needed to repair this have not been made available so I've been advised to not have it serviced until repair parts can be made available. I have had warning lamps light up on the dash since December of 2022. It's been over three years and RAM is not handling this in a timely fashion. I'm concerned about my brakes failing.
#11708492 |
My ABS light keeps coming on in and out over the last 6 months. The dinging is equivalent to NOT wearing your seat belt. Dealer said it was a recall since 12-2024. There is still not a remedy for this. I was told I could pay for an aftermarket product for about $1000 and when parts became available they would do the repairs and pay me back for the repairs I have paid for. I told them I wanted that statement on paper and was told to contact corporate. They told me exact same thing. It's been over a year now since the recall has been issued shouldn't that be enough time for them to figure this out since it has to do with your brakes not working properly? This is a safety issue and needs to be fixed ASAP!

A recall was issue 1 year ago for the issue below. This issue has yet to be resolved. The dealer informed me they could fix it at my cost but left little or no hope for the reimbursement. Recall/Campaign: Ram/Stellantis C4B Problem: “Dealer says remedy/parts are not available / cannot schedule recall repair.” This has been a problem since 2023. Have not had ABS for years or 4x4 and i live in a snow environment. My breaks and rotors are trash from not having ABS.
#11707872 |
I do not feel this recall - considering it is regarding BRAKES - has been remedied in a timely fashion. It started over a year ago. They obviously are not interested in addressing the fix. I assume they are taking the hit and paying off lawsuits as it is cheaper than actually completing the recall. But whatever the reason, they have not addressed this and my RAM repair location keeps telling me "parts are not available" to fix it. A recall was issued but it does not appear it has any teeth. What is the point? Please let me know if any action is imminent. It can also potentially effect the transfer of title if I chose to sell the vehicle. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

My 2018 RAM 2500 has had an ABS system recall since Nov 2024. My truck has had a problem with the ABS since 2019. I do not have anit-lock brakes or cruise control as a result of this failure to be able to resolve the problem. Over a year since the recall, and still no parts available. How long is the NHTSA going to let RAM get away with this?? Maybe after some has an accident or hurts someone they will respond. I have been a RAM owner since 1989 since the first CUMMINS engine was put in their 2500's. I'm VERY disappointed in RAM, and the NHTSA for not resolving this.

I am the owner of a 2018 RAM 2500 that is subject to NHTSA safety recall 24V-896 (manufacturer recall C4B), involving a potential failure of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) affecting ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control systems. This recall has been active for over one year on my vehicle. Despite repeated contact with authorized RAM dealerships and the manufacturer, I have been informed that no repair remedy or replacement parts are available, and no timeline has been provided for when the recall can be completed. This is a brake-related safety recall, and the continued inability to repair the vehicle creates an ongoing safety risk. The manufacturer has not provided an interim remedy, loaner vehicle, or alternative solution. I am filing this complaint to document that the recall remains unresolved due to parts unavailability and to request NHTSA review of the extended delay in providing a safety remedy.
#11707272 |
I am forced to drive a vehicle through the winter with a known safety defect - an ABS system that does not work properly. I was told by Ram corporate they were trying to source parts - it has been several months and still no resolution. I was told I could rent a car at my expense to drive in the winter, or try and find the parts to repair and do it at my cost. They are obviously trying to avoid paying for the repair, and putting me and my family at risk.
#11706945 |
The recall has been active for over a year without repair authorization due to no parts being identified.

After several visits to dealership, I have been told I am not able to get this recall remedied. I am stuck with a vehicle that is unsafe to drive, according to the Dodge dealership and unable to be traded in. I am now having a financial loss as I pay for rent on my RV and am unable to pull it due to the faulty part and safety concern. The ABS indicator and traction control light is lit on the dash. This started about 6 months ago. Periodically, I believe the brakes are failing as I can feel it on the front end. The cruise control no longer works on the vehicle and a buzzing sound comes on while driving. The warning indicators have been confirmed through the dealership mechanic and code readers. The staff at all dealerships I have visited have been of no assistance and virtually told me...

I have had this issue for over 2 years now and the recall is almost a year old. I went to the RAM dealership in Elizabeth City, NC and they have told me that they would get back to me for over two years. I call MOPAR and they still have no fix for the issue nor do they have a timeframe of when to expect. When asked, if they are going to cover the cost of the accident that occurs when the brakes actually fail, they suggest if I am not comfortable driving the vehicle, they might offer a rental vehicle. I go through that process and since they don't have an estimated timeframe, they won't allow me to get a rental. Just need to problem fixed and they have had plenty of time to correct this issue.

MY ABS module was replaced shortly after purchasing my truck, which currently has 65,000. However, the ABS module has been malfunctioning for years. Despite contacting and visiting dealerships, I've been informed the necessary part is unavailable. consequently, my truck has been without traction control, and I've been unable to use cruise control, for most of the time I've owned it. Recently, I've experienced loss of traction, which has nearly resulted in three accidents. while I understand the concept of recalls, this situation is unacceptable.

Warning lamps for braking systems are active. Recall C4B has been active for over a year now with no remedy.
#11705192 |
The brake system and steering system are affected. Both are subject to open safety recalls that have not been fully resolved. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Unresolved brake and steering issues pose a serious safety risk, particularly when driving with my family. A failure or malfunction of either system could result in reduced stopping ability or loss of steering control, increasing the risk of an accident. Due to these unresolved safety concerns, I do not feel safe operating the vehicle. The issues are associated with acknowledged manufacturer recalls. However, my local dealership/manufacturing has failed to adequately respond or complete the necessary repairs, despite multiple attempts to address the problems. The vehicle has been presented to the dealership for recall-related concerns. No inspections by police or insurance representatives have occurred to date. Manufacturer involvement has been limited to customer service communications, without resolution. Symptoms include ongoing brake and...

Continuing saga of HCU failures. First identified years ago, i follow up with dealer monthly. Latest call last Friday, they advised no solution or timeline for repair provided by FCA. Impact is loss of ABS (reduced braking safety), loss of control of trailer electronic brakes (increased risk while towing a trailer), incessant audio warning alarms (distracts driver), and loss of other systems (cruise control). First detection of malfunction was spring 2024. My fear is FCA/Stellantis are not doing their due diligence to preserve the safety of their customers muchless of our highways. All documentation of the problem is based on personnel research and verbal communication with the dealer service department. I do have maintenance records identifying the problem with my vehicle if needed.

ABS / HCU failed. It was recalled a year ago but still no parts / remedy available. It needs to be fixed. A year is a ridiculous amount of time to have no fix.
