THE OUTLINED RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING ON THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE, IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. DESPITE THIS, THIS PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. I AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS. AS POWER STEERING IS A VERY CONCERNING SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TWITCHING WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IDLING. IT IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS DAYS GO ON.
WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WILL SHUT OFF SUDDENLY AFTER A SMALL "CLICK" SOUND AND THE POWER STEERING IS SUDDENLY GONE. THE BATTERY SYMBOL WILL LIGHT UP RANDOMLY. ALL OF THE ELECTRIC COMPONENTS WILL FAIL WHEN THE STEERING DOES, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE DASH, HEAT/AC, RADIO, HEATED SEATS. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS MULTIPLE TIMES. SOMETIMES THE CAR WORKS PERFECTLY, OTHER TIMES THE POWER STEERING REFUSES TO REENGAGE FOR A WHILE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING FORWARD AND REVERSING. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT SPEED I'M GOING, IF IT DECIDED TO SHUT OFF IT'S JUST GONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING' DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE LOCAL DEALER OLATHE FORD (1845 E. SANTA FE ST. OLATHE, KS) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH 130K+ ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BACK IN 2014 BUT BECAUSE IT WASN'T "BROKEN" IN 2014 THEY CLOSED THE RECALL. NOW IN 2020, IT IS GIVING FAULT CODES AND IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WASN'T BROKEN 6 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY REALIZED THE MECHANICS OF THE SYSTEM WERE FAULTY IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHEN IT LOST POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FORTH AT IDLE WHILE STATIONARY AND PARKED. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT IT IS A SYMPTOM OF THE FAILURE OF THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD BE COVERED IN FORD RECALL 14S05, OR RECALL #14V284000 BUT A CANNOT FIND MY VIN NUMBER INCLUDED IN THESE RECALLS
STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO WIGGLE OR TWITCH WHEN PARKED OR DRIVING. SOMETIMES FAST AND OTHER TIMES SLOW. FORD SHOULD RECALL UNDER CODE 14S05. STEERING IS GOING OUT BECAUSE OF COMPUTER TORQUE MISFIRING. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IS HAPPENING TO 100S OF PEOPLE.
THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD OCCASIONALLY SHAKE ~1' IN EITHER DIRECTION FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS WHILE IDLING FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS; DID THAT 4/5 TIMES EACH DAY. IT WOULD STOP WHILE DRIVING. THE 3RD DAY A SENSOR ALARM WENT OFF ABOUT 60 SECONDS APART AND BY THE 4TH TIME, IT FINALLY SAID THIS ERROR MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. ALL OF THIS PART OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, GETTING ONTO THE EXIT RAMP, ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND PARKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN LOOKING UP THE CODE, THIS WAS LISTED FOR A RECALL. 1 TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A PART OF THE RECALL. ANOTHER TECH SAID IT WAS NOT AFTER ALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THEY INSISTED IT WAS ONLY FOR A FEW VEHICLES YET IT IS THE SAME EXACT RECALL WARNING LISTED. AMERICAN CORPORATIONS AND GOVERNMENT...
WHEN DRIVING BATTERY LIGHT COMES ALL LIGHTS ON DASH GOES OUT THEN EVENTUALLY WILL COME BACK ON, THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE ON THE DASH THEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT N THE HEAT WILL GO OFF N ON PERIODICALLY. I'VE SEEN OTHERS COMPLAIN REGARDING SAME ISSUE ON BLOGS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY SEVERAL TIMES
FAILURE OF THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR B2278. WHEN DRIVING OR IDLING, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL TURN BY ITSELF AS THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR FAILS. FORD DEALERSHIP CLOSED THE RECALL WITHOUT PERFORMING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR BASED ON REMEDIES RECOMMENDED IN RECALL 14S05. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR RECALL WAS NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY AND WILL NOT HONOR RECALL TO REPLACE FAILING SENSOR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITH THE POWER ASSIST FAULT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STEER THE WHEEL AND DRIVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO RECALL WAS UNDER THE VIN PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE#(25442840). A DEALER (BEYER FORD LOCATED AT 170 RIDGEDALE AVE, MORRISTOWN, NJ 07960 (973) 644-3200) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED NO RECALL WAS PRESENT THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000. *LN*JB
POWER STEERING WAS LOST WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING IS NOW IN MANUAL MODE. POWER ASSISTED STEERING HAS FAILED. DEALER SAYS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THAT HAS AFFECTED SEVERAL OTHERS. SAME COMPONENTS AS OTHER RECALLED ESCAPES. AS FORD DEALER CHARGED $150 TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS OR SO, WHEN I HAVE TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY BACK TO THE OFF POSITION & TRY REPEATEDLY TO TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY FORWARD TO FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE TO START. BECAUSE OF PAST PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE ENGINE DYING SUDDENLY ON ME & IN PARTICULAR A COUPLE TIMES WHEN I WAS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL & MY RIGHT HAND HAPPEN TO GENTLY BRUSH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.... I NOW WONDERED IF I COULD START THE ENGINE MY SIMPLY GENTLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE NEXT TIME I TURNED THE KEY ALL THE WAY FORWARD TO START THE ENGINE & NOTHING HAPPENED I KEPT THE KEY TURNED ALL THE WAY FORWARD IN THE IGNITION & TRIED TO GENTLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL... THE ENGINE CAME RIGHT ON. QUITE ALARMING...
THE POWER STEERING FAILED, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. SHORTLY BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE BACKING OUT ON THE DRIVEWAY AND TURNING TO PULL OUT , THANKFULLY NOT ON A PUBLIC STREET OR WHILE NAVIGATING THE CANYON ROADS IN OUR AREA. THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT WAS DECEMBER 30, 2019.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT WHEELS VIBRATED OUT OF CONTROL. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF AND FOUND THAT THE WHEEL BEARING WAS THE WRONG DIMENSION. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING HIMSELF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR THE STEERING FAILURE AND THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15E045000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
FORD VERY WELL KNOWS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS UNEXPECTEDLY. THEY ARE PUTTING $$$ OVER SAFETY.
WHILE DRIVING MY ESCAPE I LOST ALL POWER STEERING CONTROL. ERROR NOTED WAS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND TRIED TO UP SELL AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE PAPERWORK WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES FROM THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WENT REDLANDS FORD INC. (1121 W COLTON AVE, REDLANDS, CA 92374, (909) 793-3211). THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AT LOW SPEED GAVE THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. DROVE HOME AND PARKED. WENT TO LEAVE LATER AND THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. DIAGNOSIS AT MECHANIC SAID IT IS POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR. CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIP WAS DIRECTED TO FORD CANADA. FORD CANADA SAYS WE CAN'T HELP YOU TRY YOUR DEALERSHIP. MANY CALLS LATER THEY FIND A DOCUMENT THAT SAYS SINCE I HAD THE COMPUTER UPGRADE WHICH PREVENTS ME FROM LOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING I AM. OR ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TORQUE SENSOR WHICH IS COVERED IN FORDS 14S05 RECALL OF 'CERTAIN' FORD ESCAPES/MARINERS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 2006 AND SEPTEMBER 2010 (MINE IS EARLY 2010). MOSTLY OUT OF KANSAS. THOUGH WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. GUESS I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE?

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH CORWIN FORD TRI CITIES (1225 N AUTOPLEX WAY, PASCO, WA 99301, 509-544-8000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,402.
PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY. MORE THEN ONCE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO DRIVE - I ONLY HAVE 70,000 MILES ON MY FORD ESCAPE - I WAS PARKING MY CAR WHEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF THEN WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I TRIED CALLING FORD AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP .
LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD FILE A REPORT, BUT OFFERED NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. *BF*JB

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING); ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
***THE POWER STEERING JUST GOES OUT AND ITS VERY DANGEROUS!!!*** ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SCARY & DANGEROUS SITUATION TO STEER THE CAR. IT SEEMS AFTER I PULL OVER & TURN ON & OFF IT WORKS AGAIN FOR A WHILE, BUT DOES THE SAME THING AGAIN.. FORD COMPANY KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE MAKES & MODELS, BUT SAY RECALL IS NOT ON THIS ONE--(WHICH IT CLEARLY LANDS ON THE DATES & MANUFACTURING PLANT)

THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP15001 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO LOOSEN AND SHAKE, IMPAIRING STEERING ABILITY. MECHANIC SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (CODE B2278), WHICH WAS COVERED BY RECALL 14S05, WHICH INCLUDED THE FACTORY AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER FORD SAYS THIS RECALL WAS VIN-SPECIFIC, SO THEY WOULD ONLY REPAIR SOME OF THE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE B2278 STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUNRISE FORD OF NORTH HOLLYWOOD (LOCATED AT 5500 LANKERSHIM BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 91601, (877) 510-8967); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A FEE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,173.
POWER STEERING LOST INTERMITTENTLY. POWER STEERING MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS FIXED UNDER RECALL IN 2015 BUT HAS FAILED AGAIN. FORD WONT STAND BY THE PART THEY FIXED IT WITH. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON THE ROAD WHEN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING DUE TO A FAILED PART.
LEAVING WORK FOR LUNCH MY POWER STEER STOPPED WORKING. I LOOKED INTO RECALLS AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLES MAKE MODEL AND YEAR HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. BUT ONLY A COUPLE HUNDRED THOUSAND MADE IN A CERTAIN PLANT AND MINE DIDN'T QUALIFY.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. NTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:14V284000. FORD RECALL NUMBER: 14S05. CALL PLACED TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT 800-392-3673 ON 04-15-2019. REPRESENTATIVE SAID FORD WILL NOT PROVIDE NO COST SERVICE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND ANY COST WILL BE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY. NEXT STEP? CONTACT ATTORNEY?
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED.
I HAVE A 2010 FORD ESCAPE AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND MY POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS IN EL PASO, TX AND THEY SAY THAT THERE'S NO RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NOT, THERE ARE SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT. WHY? MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME IT OCCURRED THERE WAS NO WARNING IT JUST WENT OUT--THE POWER STEERING. I HAVE KEPT UP WITH MY CARS MAINTENANCE AND BEFORE MY HUSBAND LEFT OUT OF TOWN I MADE SURE THAT THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND ALL WAS GOOD WITH THE VEHICLE. I ASKED THE FORD DEALER IF IT NEEDED POWER STEERING AND THEY SAID NO ITS ELECTRICAL. NOW I'VE BEEN DRIVING MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WITH NO POWER STEERING.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A CLICK AND LOST MY POWER STEERING. IT CAME BACK AND THEN OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF MY IGNITION. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RE-STARTED IT, IT AGAIN KEPT GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN POWER AND MANUAL STEERING WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH DOWN BACK ROADS TO MY HOME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING INDICATOR FLASHED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED AND THE CONTACT WAS EXPECTED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WAS PART OF RECALL 14S05 WHICH DEALT WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL IN 2014 WHEN I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING BUT AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTICE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PSCM. THE POWER STEERING ACTUALLY FAILED THIS YEAR WHILE MY WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN. IT WAS NECESSARY TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AT A COST OF $1265.43 WHICH FORD REFUSES TO PAY EVEN THOUGH THIS REPAIR IS SPECIFICALLY LISTED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. HAD I NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED THE NOTICE, THE COST WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THE STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN ON A SIDE STREET. I CAN PROVIDE ALL RELEVANT DOCUMENTATION.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE CAME UP ON DASHBOARD WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE. LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS DESPITE A RECALL #14S05 BEING DONE BY FIRST OWNER IN OCTOBER 2014 SAME ISSUE HAS AGAIN HAPPENED. THANKFUL THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT, NOT WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS USED BY OUR 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO IS STILL A FAIRLY NEW DRIVER. WHEN WE CALLED FORD THEY TOLD US SECONDARY REPAIR IS ON US SINCE RECALL WAS ALREADY PREFORMED. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING THAT SAFETY IS NOT THEIR FIRST PRIORITY; SECONDLY THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND FIXING WHAT CLEARLY SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT COULD LEAD TO A VERY DIFFERENT OUTCOME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

NEEDED TO MEET WIFE TO GET CAR SO I COULD DRIVE IT BACK STILL VERY DIFFICULT FOR MYSELF AND I AM A STRONG PERSON.

SUDDENLY LOST ELECTRIC STEERING WHILE IDLE BUT APPARENTLY NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL
DROVE TO SCHOOL EVERYTHING OKAY, CAME OUT AFTER PRACTICE AND 2010 FORD ESCAPE WOULD NOT TURN WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPOT. THE WHEEL WOULD CLICK EACH TIME YOU TURNED A QUARTER OF A TURN RIGHT OR LEFT. AFTER RECEIVING ASSISTANCE, LEARNED THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND NO POWER STEERING. TOOK TO SPARKS AUTOREPAIR (1665 SCHERER PKWY, ST CHARLES, MO 63303) THEY DIAGNOSED A STEERING COLUMN COMPUTER FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE COULD LOCK UP THE STEERING AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. AS A VEHICLE OWNER, I AM FORCED TO FIX IT. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, SEEMS LIKE THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN JUST MYSELF EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE ON PARTICULAR VINS THERE WAS A RECALL. REPORTING THE ISSUE OF A SERIOUS STEERING ISSUE IS PRETTY IMPORTANT. THIS ISN'T A SIMPLE FIX. BE SAFE 2010 ESCAPE OWNER/OPERATORS. WE WERE LUCKY NO ONE WAS...

I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET AND I WENT TO TURN AND ALMOST DID NOT MAKE THE TURN BECAUSE MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD NO WARNING OR NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH THAT CAME ON TO TELL ME.
