WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK ON OLD GA2 A TWO LANE COUNTY MAINTAINED GRAVEL ROAD. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING QUIT WITHOUT WARNING WHEN I WAS ENTERING A SWITCHBACK CURVE.THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALMOST FORCED ME OFF THE THE ROAD. IT WAS PHYSICALLY ALL I COULD DO TO KEEP THE TRUCK ON THE ROAD. ANYONE WITH LESS UPPER BODY STRENGTH WOULD HAVE GONE OFF THE MOUNTAIN.
POWER STEERING TENDS TO BE STIFF AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP IT APPEARS TO SUBSIDE TIRES HAVE BEEN CHECKED SERPENTINE BELT HAS BEEN CHECKED FLUID HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED IN POWER STEERING PUMP WONDERING IF THERE IS ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS OF THIS I HAVE SEEN ONLINE THAT THERE HAS BEEN FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR
POWER STEERING COMES IN AND OUT INTERMITTENTLY, STEERING WILL LOCK UP AND COME BACK ON INTERMITTENTLY. COULD BE A FATAL HAZARD WHEN COMIN OFF EXIT RAMPS AT HIGH SPEED AND OR TURNS OR SITUATIONS FOR STEERING TO BE CONSISTENT.
OCCASIONALLY UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BE LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF, THEN TURNED BACK ON AGAIN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. RECENTLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP AND VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE DID NOT IMPROVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP THAT LOOKED UP THE VIN AND STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER 'EQUIPMENT SAFETY RECALL VB9/NHTSA 19E-077 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR.' THE DODGE/RAM DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CLAIMED THE PARTS USED IN THE VEHICLE WITH THIS VIN ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 107,000 MILES. THE REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THAT THEY BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE 'EPS GEAR, RACK AND PINION.'
FAILURE OF ELECTRIC STEERING RACK AND STEERING CONTROL MODULE WHILE UNDER WAY WITH NO WARNING. FAILURE IS NOW INTERMITTENT, CREATING A RISK OF LOSS OF VEHICLE LOSS OF CONTROL AND CRASH.
AT FIRST INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING LOSS BUT NOW COMPLETE FAILURE

HAD STEERING HARNESS RECALL DOWN. NOW CLOCKSPRING GONE OUT. HORN CRUISE CONTROL EVIC SCREEN FROZEN. DEALER DID RECALL REPORTS NOT COVERED.
POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT ON MY 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. IT LOCKED UP ON ME AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID THAT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DODGE HAS NO RECALL ON THIS AS THE MORE I READ ABOUT IT, IT WAS COMMON ISSUE ON 2013,2014 AND 2015"S MODEL YEAR. TO ME THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN IT LOCKS UP YOU CANNOT STEER THE VEHICLE.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE GETS BELOW FREEZING, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT TURN, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE WILL APPEAR. IF THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP FOR UP SEVERAL MINUTES, THEN TURNED COMPLETELY OFF UNTIL THE DISPLAY LIGHTS TURN OFF; THEN RESTART THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE WILL RESET ITSELF, AND WILL TO WORK NORMALLY AGAIN.
I GOT INTO MY TRUCK TO LEAVE FROM WORK. WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE, THE "BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW" WARNING INSTANTLY CAME ON. JUST A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" WARNING CAME ON AS WELL. AT THIS TIME THE RADIO SHUT OFF. MY TRUCK THEN SAID: "BATTERY SAVER MODE" WAS ON, AND THE RADIO CAME BACK ON. THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OFF/NOT WORKING, SO I WAS VERY GRATEFUL THAT I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT AND NOT DRIVING WHILE THIS HAPPENED AS IT COULD'VE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT! I LIMPED ALONG SLOWLY WITH MY FLASHERS ON, TO AN AUTOZONE TO HAVE THEM CHECK MY BATTERY. THEY WERE VERY BUSY, SO EVEN THOUGH MY BATTERY WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD, I SIMPLY BOUGHT A BRAND NEW ONE TO SEE IF IT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH THE BATTERY (WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM AT ALL)...

THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NEEDED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENCE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000.
I HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 5.7L SPORT AND OVER A YEAR IT STARTED LOSING POWER STEERING. I TURN ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE TO WAIT 5 TO 10 MINUTES FOR THE EPS TO ACTIVATE. IT STARTED DOING THIS ALL ON ITS OWN ONE DAY. A MESSAGE APPEARS THAT SAYS SERVICE EPS. I HAVE READ AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT FOR SOME REASON THERE IS NO RECOLL ON IT. AND THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME OVER $3,000 TO FIX THIS. CAN SOME ONE HELP ME WITH THIS.
AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM A BRIEF TRIP APPROXIMATELY 20 MI I CAME HOME, I THEN LEFT MY HOUSE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MI WHEN I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION, AS I STARTED TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION MY TRUCK SUDDENLY DIED I WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, WITH NO POWER STEERING AND NO ASSISTED POWER BRAKES, USING A LOT OF FORCE I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE TRUCK TO A COMPLETE STOP, ON THE EDGE OF A BUSY ROAD WHILE I WAITED FOR HELP TO ARRIVE. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME A PART THAT WAS CALLED A TONE WHEEL HAD FAILED. AFTER DOING A BIT OF ONLINE SEARCHING I SEE THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST THESE RAM ECO-DIESELS. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FIND THAT CERTAIN ECO-DIESELS RANGING FROM 2014 TO...
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND ALL OF SUDDEN MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND A RED STEERING WHEEL ICON WITH A FLASHING EXCLAMATION POINT WAS ON THE DASH BOARD. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I RESTARTED MY TRUCK IT WENT AWAY. THE NEXT DAY IT DID IT AGAIN. NOW AFTER ABOUT A 2 WEEKS IT THE ICON WILL NOT GO AWAY I CAN NOT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF ANY ISSUES SO I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THAT A RECALL WASN'T AVAILABLE FOR THE BUILD DATE OF MY TRUCK. BUT I'VE SEEN RECALLS FOR TRUCKS BEFORE AND AFTER MY TRUCK. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS BECAUSE THE REPAIR PRICE IS ABOUT $2,400 DOLLARS.

I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN A ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK JUST STOPPED WORKING. MY TRUCK HAS NOW BEEN SITTING AT A DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 MONTHS AND THEY ARE SAYING IT WILL BE ANOTHER MONTH UNTIL THEY MIGHT GET THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR IN NEEDED TO FIX IT. HERE IS THE THING, DODGE IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. A PROBLEM THAT IS SO WIDE SPREAD THEY LITERALLY DO NOT HAVE ANYMORE PARTS TO FIX IT. NEXT DAY AND EVERY DAY SINCE THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENS BUT GETTING WORSE. I HAVE TO TURN VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES TO GET STEERING TO WORK. VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. FEBRUARY OF 2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 RAM 1500 3.6LITER 4X4 TO WORK. WHEN COMING DOWN AN ON RAMP MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN BACK TO THE RIGHT. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE STEERING TO TRY AND TURN RIGHT BEFORE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE STEERING SUDDENLY TURNED RIGHT SHARPLY SENDING MY VEHICLE HARD RIGHT INTO THE DITCH. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS OR MAINTANCE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. I WAS ACCELERATING WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AND LET OFF ONCE THE TRUCK REFUSED TO RESPOND. THE FACT THAT LATER MODELS ARE BEING ADDRESSED AND YET 2014 OWNERS ARE REPORTING THE ISSUE AS WELL IS PURE NEGLECT.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE RECALL FOR THE 2015-2016 RAM DOES NOT INCLUDE 2014. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH EARLIER YEAR MODELS. THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THIS MALFUNCTION WAS $2400 ! THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

I IMMEDIATELY CALLED A RAM DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE IT TOWED DO TO IT BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER GETTING IT TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME MY POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY ($2400) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR MY TRUCK. I CONTACTED MY WARRANTY COMPANY AND THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED DUE TO IT BEING A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE.
SINCE DAY ONE OF BUYING THIS VEHICLE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEMS SOMETIMES FOR A FEW WEEKS AT A TIME. SEEMS LIKE NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DIAG THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS ALWAYS DARTS THROWN AND NO PROBLEMS EVER FIXED, THEY HAVE REPLACED AIRBAGS, COMPRESSOR, CHARGED THE SYSTEM, REPROGRAMMED/CALIBRATED THE SYSTEM AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY FUSES! IVE GOTTEN AIR SUSPENSION CODES LEFT AND RIGHT WITH COMPRESSOR TEMP CODES... THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE WAY THIS VEHICLE DRIVES WHEN IT FALLS ON BUMP STOPS AND CHANGES THE CAMBER OF THE TIRES ( HAS RUINED A BRAND NEW SET OF TIRES DUE TO INSIDE TIRE WEAR ON BOTH FRONT ) TIRES ARE SCREECHING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, BOUNCES WHILE TURNING AND HITTING SMALL BUMPS... WELL THAT JUST MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT IN A CRASH WHEN IT THROWS YOU AROUND OUT OF...
WHILE DRIVING TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE, TURNED AND STEERING WHEEL GOT REALLY HARD THAT I COULDN'T TURN IT JUMP THE CURB ALMOST HITTING A LIGHT POLE, TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FRIEND THAT HAS A SHOP AND FOUND CODE C221700 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MODULE INTERNAL PROBLEM
COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST.
MY STEERING ON MY TRUCK KEEPS FAILING , I'VE ALMOST HAD 5 ACCIDENTS. I REPLACED THE EPS AND STILL DOING IT , THERE ARE RECALLS ON 2015 AND 2016 RAM BUT NOT MY 2014 WHICH IS DOING THE SAME THING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FINDLAY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM POST FALLS LOCATED AT 550 N ALBERTA ST, POST FALLS, ID 83854,(208) 457-1900, WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V167000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE FOR ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE 2014 RAM 1500 THE VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE ON THE SPOT. THIS MEANS THAT THE LOSE OF POWER CAN HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS LOSE OF POWER WILL RESULT IN LOSING STEERING AND SOMETIMES BRAKING, SINCE ALL ARE CONTROLLED BY ELECTRONICS. THESE OCCURRENCES HAVE HAPPENED WHILE NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS; ROLLING UP WINDOWS, TURNING ON BRIGHT LIGHTS, AND JUST DRIVING.
THE STEERING OF THE WHEEL IS ROUGH. I HAVE TO USE SMALL MOVEMENTS. IT'S LIKE SOMETHING IS STUCK OR NO POWER STEERING FLUID. SINCE THERE IS NO FLUID, ONLY ELECTRICAL, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL PORTION OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP
I HAVE A 2014 RAM WITH AROUND 48K MILES. BACK IN FEBRUARY WHILE DRIVING I LOST STEERING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A ONCOMING VEHICLE. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER INTO MY NORMAL SERVICE DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR STATING THAT WAS THE ISSUE THAT MADE THE TRUCK LOSE STEERING. SINCE THEN I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK BACK A FEW TIMES WITH STEERING ISSUES AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO 'DUPLICATE' THE ISSUE SO CANNOT FIX IT. THIS PAST FRIDAY 11/15/2019 I WENT TO LEAVE MY HOUSE AND ONCE AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK IT LOST STEERING AND THIS TIME POWER DROPPED. I AGAIN HAD IT TOWED INTO THE SERVICE DEALER ON 11/18/2019. TODAY 11/22/2019 THEY STATED THAT AGAIN THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY DID FIND ERROR CODES ABOUT...
STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T LOCK AND SENSOR IS ALSO CAUSING CRUISE CONTROL TO MALFUNCTION. THIS COULD BE UNSAFE IF THAT SENSOR CONTROLS ANYTHING ELSE
DRIVING TO INDIANA TO SEE MY GRANDBABIES AND THE CHECK ELECTRONIC TRAILER BRAKES CAME ON THE CHECK ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AND LOST POWER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY BACK TO KENTUCKY. I HAD THE BRAKES DONE, BUT MECHANIC SAID IT'S A SENSOR I THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ABOUT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN WHEN MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND AN INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKY I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT SO I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

AT 124000 MILES, ELECTRIC STEERING IS GOING OUT. NOT SEEING ANY RECALLS ON MY 2014 RAM 1500. I DO SEE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME. DODGE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK IS GOING OUT, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY, ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH.
2014 DODGE RAM TRUCK 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HAVING THE RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED ON THE STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS, THE HORN AND ELECTRICAL FEATURES ON THE WHEEL FAILED. WHEN DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AT 70MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUT OFF. I PULLED OFF, RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS WORKING AGAINST. CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. NO MORE INCIDENT THAT TRIP. TOOK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY POWER STEERING MODULE IN THE EPS. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT IF THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK. *DT INVALID VIN*JB
