Vehicle is flashing all kinds of repair needed signals. It is stalling and shutting off. It's not safe for me to drive. I'm elderly (disabled) and need to drive to get medicine and doctors appointments. The fuel pump is on recall and I can not wait until the fall to get the pump replaced. No Honda dealers have the pumps in stick yet. I need help ASAP. Thank you
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic with a short circuit in the electrical system. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated again. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #1. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and directed the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
The vehicle began running rough Spring 2023 and all the lights on the dashboard lit up. The local mechanic did not identify any serious problem and the lights all going off seemed to be a separate issue since the whole dashboard was lit up. We continued driving it out of necessity and eventually it began stalling. Then we took it back to our mechanic who identified the fuel injectors as the issue and recommended that we take it to the dealership. We took it to the dealership and they charged $3000 for the fuel injector replacement and also did some minor recall repairs. When my husband drove it off the lot, it stalled again so he brought it back and identified that it still was not repaired. They then kept it for 2-3 more weeks and repaired the head gasket. We took it home and drove it for another 6...
The car quit suddenly while picking up my child at school and would not start. Had to be towed to the honda dealership due it not running. No warning sign of it having any problems, nothing. This qas February 13th and has been sitting therr for over a month now. I have contacted the Honda service department twice and they can not give me an ETA on when my car will be fixed or when the fue pump will arrive and if that is the only thing wrong with my car. This is our main vehicle, I do have a courtesy car to drive but I am making car payments on a car that is not functioning.
It is terrifying and unacceptable that they announce a fuel pump recall and then tell drivers to wait basically a year to they maybe get the part. Ticking time bomb. This is an addendum to some folks who already had a near catastrophe or worse because this company was negligent. Is anyone filing any lawsuits yet? My vin: [XXX] Can someone get back to me with a safety proposition because Honda has failed. Thank you. Informed at 5 dealerships that repair parts not available now and until until FALL 2024...car has 10,000miles and fearful of driving it
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the engine; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was contacted, and case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Initially we had check engine light on and we felt that the car had difficulty to start after stopped at traffic light. We had to restarted the engine to solve the stall problem. We took the car to a mechanic and he changed oxygen sensor and spark plugs but the problem came back. Then we received the recall letter realized it was exactly the same problem we had. The mechanic re-examined the car and confirmed that fuel pump was the problem. The recall letter told us to wait for replacement. Since we did not have another car we had to use it. On February 16, the situation became worse. We almost ran into crash on high way 95. The check engine light kept flashing and the car seemed to lose power in the middle of high way. We managed to pull over. It was very scary and it was lucky...
On my way home, the car began to tremble and make a very strange noise. I couldn't stop because I was on the highway, the next day all the lights car on the dashboard were on, I dropped my car on the dealer and still is there,.
My vehicle stalled out while driving on the highway, with all electrical components going haywire and the vehicle stopped accelerating or maintaining speed. After being towed 61 miles, my mechanic says that it is not making a loud noise when he tries to test-drive it, had no power, and returned MANY error codes, including one for the turbo. Mechanic believes that the turbo failed and triccered all electrical systems to go haywire. Honda dealership service tech confirms (without commitment, as they did not personally examine it) that the mechanics explanation makes sense and my experience describes what would happen if the turbo failed. In addition to putting me in an unsafe situation on the highway, this malfunction may end up costing me thousands between parts, labor, and towing costs. Research on the problem tells me this has happened to many other 2017-2017 CRV owners and Honday has simply failed to...
Sudden unexpected acceleration. Multiple occurences during same outing, almost caused me to have an accident . had to HARD break while engine continued to surge. Had vehicle towed to Honda Dealer. They said No Code set and couldn't duplicate condition. They kept vehicle 2 weeks and drove multiple times but couldn't duplicate problem. Since no code set, nothing fixed. Do not believe any diagnosis on components were done. My opinion.
Our 2018 CRV Touring modelm has had the dashboard light up like a christmas tree with all codes flashing. We have had the vehicle to the local honda dealer numerous times and also to a private garage. The battery has been changerd out, The Honda dealer performed a sparkplug recall and the car continues to do this with the dashboard lighting up showing all kinds of codes. Last evening for the second time the car would not go above 10 MPH. I had to shut down the engine and restart. This is very dangerous. We bought the car brand new and have had all the maintenance done. My wife is afraid to drive the car, Is there anything NHTSA can do to have Honda look into this problem. From my looking into this it appears quite a few honda CRV's are encountering this problem. This is unsafe. Thank you for...
Engine failure while driving on the highway. This is related to the oil dilution issue with the 1.5 turbo engines on our 2018 CRV. Valve got destroyed. Honda dealer replaced the cylinder head under warranty at no cost to us.
I had all the warning lights come on my 2018 Honda CRV. At one time the car also lost power. I have been visited my dealer 3 times, and still is the same problem!! It has happened 4 times.
When on the highway, if you try to match other cars speed, the car turns on the check engine and starts losing its force. When I check, it says it has a problem with misfire. P0304 & P0303. Honda changed the injectors, coils and spark plugs. The vehicle dilutes a large quantity of gas into the motor oil. 1/4 more of gas than the 3.7 quarts that the engine is supposed to have. The motor is a 1.5 engine. The car isn’t safe because I have to stop on the highway, turn it off and on then start driving again and pray that in 5 minutes the same thing won’t happen again. I’ve had to stop using the car and it’s been parked for 2 months and Honda wipes their hands clean because it’s out of warranty, yet the majority of people with this specific model have the same problem.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the brakes locked up inadvertently. Additionally, the electronic braking system, TPMS, the emission, the AWD system, braking system, brake hose, power steering, the vehicle stability assistance, Fuel Start Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and the Hydro High beam warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, there was smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was sludge in the engine and that the turbo system was blown. The dealer replaced the turbo, rebuilt the engine, and performed an oil change and an engine flush; however, the failure persisted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Schaumburg Honda Automobiles (750 E Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60173), where an oil change and an engine flush were performed; however, the...
After battery replacement done by dealership Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, horn was off, lights were on, keyless remote can not be detected, many safety system errors etc. Called road side assist, after entire system reset, everything seemed to be normal, but problem showed up again on Saturday morning. Towed car to dealership, they checked everything and turned out to be body control module problem, had to replace body control module. My car only 5 years, 55k miles. It happed so randomly, faulty locks, faulty anti-theft, and can be a huge safety concern/issue.
I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the 2018 Honda CRV that I purchased from Honda dealership in Bellevue, Washington state just a few short months ago. Initially, after several week ago from the dealer, all warning lights on the dashboard were illuminated, prompting me to bring the car to your dealership for an evaluation. Following your team's assessment, the car was upgraded with software in accordance with Service Bulletin [link to the bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10154475-0001.pdf However, this was only the beginning of our troubles. In the past few months, my family, including my 9-year-old son, has encountered a series of issues that have severely affected the safety and reliability of the vehicle. We rely on this car for various family activities, including picking our son up from school and transporting him to various extracurricular activities. On multiple occasions, my family has been exposed to a strong smell of...
Multiple engine failure codes appeared on dashboard. Took vehicle for inspection and diagnoses states code P0172 Fuel system too rich. The service technician recommended fuel injector replacement due to faulty injectors. Service advisor did not file a warranty claim on my behalf despite my request to do so. When I called Portfolio Protection, they informed me that the technician did not call in the claim. Portfolio Protection Ever Drive 250 Limited Powertrain Coverage has an exception for injectors listed in the Mechanical paragraph as follows: Mechanical: This Limited Warranty does not provide coverage for service adjustments/cleaning, carburetor, throttle body assembly (except injectors), contaminated fuel system, water ingestion, air conditioning recharge, refrigerant, coolant, battery cables, belts, hoses, brakes (front hubs, drums, shoes, lining, disc rotors and pads), exhaust system, (...) etc. Portfolio Protection and Barber Honda Service Advisor will not acknowledge the exception for injectors clearly stated in the contract. I...
I was driving south on the Fl Turnpike when my vehicle shuts off,
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while sitting at a stop light, another motorist hit her vehicle on the front passenger side. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact nor the other driver sustained any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to an independent body shop where it was repaired. Since the accident, the contact stated that several warning lights would flash on the instrument panel either upon start of the vehicle or while driving at various speeds, . The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where a diagnostic showed that the fuel injector needed to be replaced. Prior to owning the vehicle, the contact was informed that a recall(recall unknown) was performed on the vehicle that was related to the fuel injector. A software was performed to repair the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure....
I bought this vehicle few weeks ago from the Honda Bellevue, Washington state. After one week or more, all warning signal were presented and we could smell strong gasoline inside cabin when all windows were closed. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they couldn't figure out the problem but only updated the software for me. After the checkup, me and my family smelled gasoline twice. I am so worry about it because I have used this vehicle to deliver my 8 year old son to school and other sport activties.
AC Discharge Hose replaced due to leak. Many people reported this same issue on online forums on the same vehicle. This is on a 1.5 L engine. Refrigerant type is R-1234yf. There was a recall on the compressor shaft seal deterioration due to this refrigerant type. Could the same be said for the discharge hose? I have already replaced my vehicles discharge hose. For diagnostics and repairs it cost between 800-1100 dollars depending on the shop due to labor. For the average American this is too expensive and some may choose not to repair the AC system and the heat is not good for families with children. There were no warning lamps the car just stopped cooling.
In February, 2023 all of the warning lights came on my 2018 Honda CRV, including brake failure, lane departure and many more, making me afraid to drive the car. Dealer wants to replace fuel injectors, but none are available! I’m afraid my car is a danger to myself and others on the road, since all the warning lights continue to appear. HELP!!
Within the last 2 months the car began to run rough. We added fuel injector cleaner to no avail. After some time, the computer system went berserk - every system in the car was informing us that it had a problem (ie lane keep assist, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking system, vehicle stability assist , electric power steering etc) along with continued rough engine performance. We took the vehicle to a local Honda dealership repair shop and were eventually informed that the fuel injectors were faulty and need to be replaced. We requested that they order a set of injectors for us a month ago and are still waiting delivery of these back-ordered parts A phone call recently to the parts department of another dealer turned up with non-availability there as well The fact that these parts are in such demand along with the continued poor performance of our...
Three years into owning the vehicle the spark plugs were misfiring. When replacing them finding the ceramic part of the plugs were cracking. I replaced all plugs and coils and was good for only about six months. Same thing happened and progressively got worse and in shorter time between all the mis firing codes and engine stumbling and not driving over twenty mile per hour. Now I am at a point where it has become a monthly issue and have been through approximately thirty replaced spark plugs and on the third set of ignition coils. Apparently there is an extended warranty for this issue and for the past visits the dealership says they fixed the recalls and don’t see any other issues. I am taking it to the dealership again and getting it in writing this time. I want the company to fix the resin for the spark plugs consistently...
At 57000 miles, our SUV suddenly displayed a warning of “emission control problem”. Within a few miles of that, the car displayed virtually every warning message it has… something in the range of 20 different alarms. The onboard computer showed the problem to be 1 cylinder running too lean. The fix was to replace the fuel injector on that cylinder, but Honda now only sells the injector in sets of 4 for their 4 cyl engines. I ended up paying $1438 to have all the injectors replaced in a car that is not even 5 yrs old. This follows the replacement of a faulty A/C compressor for $2200 a year ago when the car had around 45000 miles. These kinds of premature failures are more and more common in Honda’s , and it’s clear Honda is doing nothing to address the issues if a car is out of the 36k...
While driving (road trip 500 miles round trip), all the dashboard lights turned with no real indication of what the issues was. I pulled over to see if there was anything noticeable and did not see anything exteriorly nor once I opened the hood of the car. I continued my drive home (remaining 100 miles or so) and once I parked my car in driveway, I noticed a strong smell with black smoke coming from exhaust pipe with black oil at the end of my tailpipes. My car is currently at dealers getting looked at and they recommended changing my fuel injector and spark plugs, which they completed ($2,000) and I AM STILL having issues.!!! Doing my research online I noticed that there was a recall of this vehicle in China but not in the US, which is unacceptable. Something needs to be done ASAP!
I have a 2018 Honda CR-V touring , with a 1.5 turbo engine. It seems that as my oil usage (Mileage) increases, between oil changes, I have been losing Miles per Gallon. After an oil change my MPG is around 34 to 35 MPG. My car now is at 60% oil usage before an oil change is needed. I am due for an oil change now. The last oil change the mechanic noticed there was a thinning of the oil and the smell of gas in the oil was present, as well as the oil quantity was higher. We assumed the higher oil quantity is due to gas in the oil.
The car does not get up to operating temperature at idle during cold climates. If the car is started and left to idle and warm up, the heat will not blow and the front window will not defrost. If the car is driven on short trips through town, it will not heat up at all. Also, if the car is driven around and gets up to operating temperature and then left to idle, the car's temperature will slowly edge down and cause no heat to blow from the vents. I have brought the car in to the dealer twice for the same issue only for them to tell me that this is a normal characteristic of the car and that nothing is wrong. I have never had this issue on any other vehicle. Additionally, the car suffers from oil dilution in the engine which cases poor performance and thinned oil....
Hello NHTS, I have been dealing with my vehicle stalling & losing power while driving on the freeway. This is a very dangerous issue with my Honda CRV. I have had this happen several times now and it was reported to Honda. Honda has not yet placed this issue on recall status. This needs to get looked at before someone gets injured or killed.
Toda la seguridad relacioada al sistema de frenos y la emisión de gases es un problema persistente en el panel del vehículo. Al parecer es un problema común de éstos vehículos según las reseñas que he escuchado y leído de por parte de otros propietarios de éstos vehículos.
The contact's father owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that on separate occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact then stated that the same day while his father was driving, the vehicle stalled and was towed back to the dealer where it was then diagnosed that the software needed to be updated however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it remained. The vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact left a voicemail however, there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I am making this report because I am shocked that my Honda's CRV AC hose from compressor to condensor needed to be replaced. All of my AC leaked out from compressor. My Honda is a 2018 and it only has 60,000 freeway miles.I went online and saw that many other Honda CRV 2018 owners have had the same issue. Honda should have repaired it. It took almost a week to get it repaired. Difficulty finding the hoses. I called both my dealer and Honda Customer Support and they didn't offer any type of extended warranty for this.
While traveling on I-95N my car started braking on its own, I was in the middle lane of I-95 North in Maryland traveling about 75 mph when the car started braking for no reason, all the indicator lights lit up on the dashboard, I had no idea what was going on but somehow safely made it to the shoulder without incident. I was informed today that it was an "engine failure" that caused my car to brake/stall; I inquired why there was no warning, when you need an oil change you get a warning, when your battery is dying you get a warning, when your tire pressure is low you get a warning, all things that do not require immediate attention but there is no warning when your engine is going to fail -- that does require immediate attention especially when you are traveling on I-95 north with trucks and...
AC Compressor Leaking Freon. 23243 miles. Cost $2184.20 to repair. Numerous complaints concerning AC, compressor should not have failed at this juncture. Believe HONDA installed defective part during production.
In early April 2022 the Body Control Module went bad. A replacement was ordered, and is still unavailable (Honda PN: 38809-TMM-A21). This rendered the car unable to be started, unless the battery was first disconnected and then reconnected (as advised by Honda Service). However, this results in several error lights, including emergency braking, hill start assist, lane keeping assist, collision warning systems, blind spot systems, as well as non-driving systems like operation of the windows, and the associated symptom of these systems working intermittently, or not at all. Honda still has not provided a reliable estimate for the part to be made available, despite escalating the situation to their corporate level. I am aware of other Honda models of the same year having BCM (Body Control Module) issues and a recall being current and active.
As I was driving home from work, I tried to accelerate to merge onto the highway and my car would not go over 30-40 mph. It felt like it was going to stall. This could have caused a major accident. I was able to make it home. I took the 2018 honda crv to the dealer that night and was told that Turbocharger was broke. During this whole ordeal, the engine light did not come on once, nor leading up to this event. The dealer ran computer diagnostics and nothing came up. They had to take the car apart to find out what was wrong. Because the turbocharger had been broken, this also caused damage to the fuel injectors and they needed replaced. 25 days later, again on my way home from work, every single light and warning message is flashing on my dash, as if there is a battery...
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact used excessive force to steer the vehicle off the highway and immediately called for roadside assistance. The contact had the vehicle initially towed to her home where her son inspected the vehicle. The contact's son informed her that there was an issue with the engine and the vehicle needed to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with a defective cylinder head. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
My vehicle stops going down the road. It starts slowing down quickly and is very hard to drive like the power steering is going out. Hopefully I can get to a shoulder to turn it off. I let it sit for a few minutes and it will restart. Close to my home, there are curves where there is no shoulder and it has happened multiple times there. It is not consistent and usually occurs within the first 30 minutes of your drive. This has happened since I bought brand new but is occurring more frequently now.
Traveling on I-20 My wife reported the car just quit working with no warning between Atlanta and Birmingham about 90 miles from home. She was able to get to the side of the interstate and called me. She said all the lights on the display were showing as failed systems. Internet search lead me to believe it was the battery. On arrival i installed new battery but symptoms remained car would not start and just shuddered when attempting to start. I called the dealership we purchased from to talk to a tech. I was asked if she was low on gas below 1/2 tank. Yes the gauge shows 1/4 tank remains. I was told to get gas and it should be fine, some of the CRV's run out of gas but read that gas remains. I did get gas and car cranked we drove home. At 63 we don't need...
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while pulling into a parking space and depressing on the brake pedal, she heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle began to vibrate. The contact stated an unknown green brake hold warning light was illuminated and then turned off a second later. The contact stated she was able to park the vehicle. The contact stated that a week later while starting the vehicle, she experienced the same failure. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where she was informed that the engine was overfilled by one quart of oil. The contact was informed that the extra oil needed to be drained. The repairs were completed. The contact stated on 2/9/2022, she started to smell fuel fumes inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer and was informed there was no leak and no...
Engine oil diluted. 2/8/2022 Engine oil was Diluted by 55mm. This happened within 400 miles of the last oil change. That's a lot of gasoline in the oil and oil viscosity is significantly decreased. All updates/recalls have been completed on the vehicle. The updates that are specific to this issue have been completed. Talking to Honda dealership, this is extremely unnormal and results in premature engine wear.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle several unknown warning lights would remain illuminated, including the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact also indicated that fuel had mixed into the engine oil causing a heavy fuel odor to be present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a computer re-flash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
The oil leak from oil pan seal and timing chain tensioner seal area.
Vehicle stalled when accelerating to overtake another vehicle. No errors/warnings, displays were working but speed suddenly dropped and does not increase no matter what. It was scary. Luckily I was able to come back to a shoulder lane and stop the vehicle. Vehicle ran normally after powering off and starting again. I've been driving the vehicle for couple of hours on freeway by then. This happened 4 times over the summer. Dealers are asking for $200 to diagnose but not promising that they will be able to find the problem since the issue does not happen consistently. I suspect it is due to oil dilution problem for which Honda performed repair last year.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, multiple unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated an independent mechanic came to her residence and informed her that the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on 10/17/2021, while driving 45 MPH, the engine experienced a misfire and the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact stated that multiple warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road. The contact stated she was able to drive back to her residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
