Car suddenly lost power and dash lights came on while I was passing a large truck, legally, on rural highway. Was unable to pass truck and had to fall back and thankfully no vehicles were coming in opposite direction. Was a pass with caution area with dotted line. Had to have towed to dealership, found to be issue with turbo. Research shows know issue with vehicle, see NHTSA service bulletin 19-032, but Honda states does not involve my VIN number, though exact issue, model, and year. I think this issue should be expand to include all vehicles of same make, model and year.
Grinding noises were heard in the car twice, before the engine stalled. The car was stopped in the middle of the intersection. Could not restart the car at all, and check engine lights were lit on the dashboard. After 5 minutes passed and after multiple tries to restart the car, the engine started and I was able to get to safety. Upon dealer inspection, the cause was the air condition compressor locking up, possibly due to a leak in the refrigerant. This is confirmed by the car blowing hot air even in AC mode. The lock up caused the engine to stall and go into fail safe mode. This meant the car was stopped and unable to restart in the middle of a busy intersection. The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway and waited for a few minutes before attempting to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle was jump started and the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed to disconnect and reconnect the battery for the vehicle to resume normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
I was driving and then the car wouldn't go, seems like a fuel pump issue. There is a recall on fuel pumps for this year but according to Honda and this site mine is not effected. I disagree.

The vehicle was taken twice to the dealer and two of the fuel injectors were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer for the third time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would contact the dealer. The failure mileage was 31,000.
While driving on the highway the service engine soon light started blinking and the engine lost power effecting my ability to keep up with traffic. After coming to a stop the light stopped. When I started the engine back up there was a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I checked the oil level and it was at least 1/2 inch above full and smelled strongly of gas.

I PURCHASED MY 2018 HONDA CR-V EX 2WD IN FLORIDA APRIL 2018. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES ON IT NOW. I TRAVEL THROUGH INDIANA AND OHIO DURING THE YEAR, INCLUDING WINTER MONTHS. I HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CAR AND HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE IN THE OIL ESPECIALLY IN WINTER MONTHS WHEN I AM TRAVELING NORTH. I CALLED HONDA CORP ABOUT THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM AND THE TSB 18-114 AND TSB 18-124 THAT WERE ADDRESSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT ONLY COVERS NORTHERN STATES. I EXPLAINED THAT I TRAVEL THROUGH NORTHERN STATES DURING THE YEAR AND HAVE EXPERIENCED GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN AND ALSO IN THE OIL. IT WAS ALSO REVEALED THAT IN JANUARY 2019, HONDA SENT A RECALL TO ADJUST THE SOFTWARE AND MAKE A CHANGE IN THE AC UNIT...
SINCE NEW, ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS FOR A SEVERAL SECONDS AND THEN RECOVERS WITH A BURST OF ACCELERATION. HAPPENS MAINLY AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN STOPPED OR ROLLING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AND TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND I CANNOT PURPOSELY DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT WILL. HOWEVER, IT AVERAGES HAPPENING EVERY APPROXIMATELY ONCE PER WEEK. IT HAPPENED 4/2/2021, ON A HEAVY TRAFFIC LOOP AND CAUSED A FENDER BENDER ACCIDENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. AFTER INVESTIGATION, I FIND ENGINE STALLING IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL HONDA.

DILUTION OF THE ENGINE OIL WITH GASOLINE, CAUSING LEVEL TO RISE. SMELL OF GASOLINE OUTSIDE VEHICLE. DEALER SAYS HONDA TECHLINE TOLD THEM THIS IS NORMAL. MY VIN IS NOT PART OF HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY AS AN ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE.

UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FROM STOP. WITH THE ENGINE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE RPM INSTANTLY AND ABRUPTLY INCREASES FROM 700 RPM TO APPROXIMATELY 1000 RPM. THE VEHICLE MOVES AHEAD SUDDENLY WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND CAN REACH A SPEED OF 7 MPH ON LEVEL PAVEMENT. THE SAME ACCELERATION OCCURS WHEN I AM MOVING VERY SLOWLY INTO A PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE AND MY FOOT IS PRESSING LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL -- THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES SUDDENLY AND THE VEHICLE "JUMPS" AHEAD, REQUIRING INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT ACCELERATION. 3WKS FEB23, 2021 I PURCHASED A 2018 HONDA CRV I WAS LOOKING AT SOME CUSTOMERS THAT COMPLAINING ABOUT OIL DELETION IN THE ENGINE, I'M VERY WORRIED BECAUSE I DO GET A GAS SMELL INSIDE MY CAR, FROM THE EXHAUST AND WHEN I CHECK THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK. IT DOESN'T SHOW AS A RECALL BUT IT IS VERY CONCERNING AND I'M WORRIED THE VEHICLE WOULD BURST INTO FLAMES.

WHILE DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE, DRIVING SLOW AS I WAS IN MY SUBDIVISION MY VEHICLE STARTED JERKING, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING REPEATEDLY. I NOTICED A BAD ODOR. I WAS ONLY A MINUTE OR SO FROM HOME AND DRIVING SLOWLY, MAYBE 10 OR 15 MPH. THE SPUTTERING, JERKING AND FLASHING ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. I GOT HALF WAY UP MY DRIVEWAY AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING SO I STOPPED AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. A STRONG BURNING SMELL CONTINUED AND I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST PIPE.
I HAVE A 2018 HONDA CRV EX. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING AT TIMES, AND AT OTHER TIMES, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. THROTTLE CONTROL WAS DEFEATED BY DESIGN AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN A LANE WITH NO SHOULDER AND SEMI TRUCKS BEHIND ME. WAS ABLE TO CYCLE KEY A FEW TIMES AND THROTTLE CONTROL WAS RESTORED UNTIL CAR MISFIRED AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. TALKED TO LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT WHAT HAPPENED IS BY DESIGN, TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE EVENT OF A MISFIRE..THIS IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND STILL LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING WITH AT LEAST PARTIAL POWER. MANY MANUFACTURERS SIMPLY CUT FUEL DELIVERY TO THE CYLINDER THAT IS MISFIRING, LEAVING YOU LESS POWER BUT STILL SAFE TO DRIVE.. THIS PROBLEM IS A SIMPLE FIX FOR HONDA WITH A REFLASH. THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION WAS CREATED...
ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO DRIVE. THE PROBLEM LIGHTS ALL APPEARED AS DRIVING: STEERING, TIRE PRESSURE, EMERGENCY BRAKE, ENGINE. THE CAR STALLED AS DRIVING AND STEERING WAS MADE DIFFICULT, DID THE DER DER DER NOISES. I FELT ENDANGERED WITH MY CHILDREN AND PUPPY IN THE VEHICLE.
RECENTLY AFTER PURCHASED 1/2019 NOTICED OIL LEVEL WAS 3/8" OVER HIGH MARK. REPORTED TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY SAID ITS NORMAL TO HAVE GAS IN THE OIL. ALSO CAR EMITS SMELL OF RAW GASOLINE BOTH IN CABIN WHEN STOPPED. ALSO SMELL RAW GAS IN GARAGE AND SOMETIMES IN OUR HOUSE WHILE CAR IS PARKED. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I WAS PARKING MY CRV AND ALL OF MY DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. MY CRUISE. LANE KEEP ASSIST OTHER FEATURES ARE COMPLETELY DISABLED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. MY DEALERSHIP STATES I NEED FUEL INJECTORS. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM, AND HONDA IS VERY AWARE OF THIS FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. THEY ACTUALLY PUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN PLACE ON THE POWERTRAIN TO REMEDY THIS . UNFORTUNATELY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER FUEL INJECTORS.ON ONE OCCASION. NOV. 3 2020, MY CAR STALLED WHILE GOING 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTERWARDS I SMELLED A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY CAR. I KEEP SMELLING GASOLINE AND HAVING TO GET OIL CHANGES WELL BEFORE 5,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THAT GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE. I FEAR THAT THE ENGINE IS GOING TO GIVE OUT SOON.

TOOK TO NEARBY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO NARROWED MALFUNCTION TO ECM. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO REPLACED VSA MODULATOR. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START; ENGINE STARTS BUT SHUTS BACK OFF IMMEDIATELY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER; BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED.
THIS THE THIRD INCIDENT, WHERE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR LOST POWER, STALLED, SHUT DOWN, AND ALL THE SENSORS ON THE VEHICLE WENT OFF. THE VACAVILLE HONDA DEALERSHIP ON THE SECOND TIME REFUSE TO DOCUMENT MY ISSUE OR LOOK AT THE BATTERY WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR A SERVICE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I FEEL REALLY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND VACAVILLE HONDA HAS A HISTORY OF NOT DOCUMENTING MY CONCERNS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND I CAME TO A STOP SIGN WHERE I TURNED RIGHT AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS. THE CAR TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED ON AND ALL THE SENSORS CAME ON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHER SPEEDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UMANSKY HONDA (960 HILTON HEIGHTS RD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22901, (888) 686-9143) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, THE OIL PAN WAS REPLACED AND RESEALED, AND THE BELL HOUSING WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR WAS THE MANUFACTURER MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
OCCASIONALLY, THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING. ALSO, WHEN ENGINE OIL IS CHANGED, IT EMITS A STRONG GAS SMELL. I TOOK IT TO CRISWELL HONDA IN GERMANTOWN, MD, AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 16 MILES ON IT; I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. IT LEAKED OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID ALL OVER MY GARAGE AND WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. I HAD A SIGNIFICANT OIL AND TRANSMISSION LEAK. HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO BE REPAIRED. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN WHERE IT DUMPED ALL THE OIL OUT OF THE ENGINE, AND THEY HAD TO FIX IT FOR A SECOND TIME. THEY INFORMED ME THERE WASN'T ANY OIL LEFT IN MY ENGINE AND THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER AN OIL CHANGE.THEY SAID THIS NEVER HAPPENS, BUT IT DID TWICE. MY 36,000-MILE WARRANTY IS ALMOST UP, AND I HAVE A FEELING THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. LAST TIME IT LEAKED, IT TOOK THEM THREE MONTHS TO FIX IT. AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 PM ON JUNE 2, 2020 WHILE TRAVELING ON ROUTE 30 WESTBOUND NEAR COATESVILLE, PA AFTER THE ROUTE 82 EXIT THE HONDA CR-V LOST POWER. THE CR-V SLOWED TO UNDER 15 MILES PER HOUR WHILE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC PASSED. I ESTIMATE THAT SOME PASSING VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH. THE CR-V FINALLY MADE IT TO THE AIRPORT ROAD EXIT - A DISTANCE OF NEARLY THREE MILES. NOTE: IN TWO PLACES RT. 30'S NARROW SHOULDER WAS NOT USABLE AND I WAS BRIEFLY FORCED BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY CONTINUING IN THE SLOW LANE. ONCE ON AIRPORT ROAD I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, TURNED OFF THE CR-V AND INSPECTED THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND DROVE TO REEDMAN TOLL HONDA. THE CR-V HAS 35,762 MILES AND HAS BEEN SERVICED AT ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVALS. MY WIFE WAS THE SOLE PASSENGER. I WAS THE DRIVER....

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA MOTOR WORK (1475 SOUTH BARRINGTON ROAD, BARRINGTON, IL 60010, (847)-381-8900), WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO MONITOR THE OIL LEVEL AND TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THE ENGINE OR SOMETHING THAT CONTROLS THE FUEL TO THE ENGINE CAUSES FUEL DILUTION OF THE ENGINE OIL. THIS WAS EASILY IDENTIFIED WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL. THE CAR WAS AT HOME ON A LEVEL CONCRETE FLOOR AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE THE NORMAL FULL LEVEL AND THE OIL STRONGLY SMELLED OF GASOLINE. THIS RESULTS IN DECREASED OIL VISCOSITY CAUSING PREMATURE WEAR OF ENGINE PARTS AND ENGINE FAILURE LEADING TO INCREASED MAINTENANCE COSTS.
THERE IS A VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE ENGINE OIL. THE OIL LEVEL IS MUCH HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK THAN AT THE LAST OIL CHANGE, INDICATING GASOLINE IS SOMEHOW MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE OIL. THERE IS A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN ON EVERY TRIP. CAR IS OWNED AND OPERATED IN ATLANTA, GA.
