• The Incident: "The rear window shattered spontaneously while the vehicle was in motion. My wife was driving, I was in the passenger seat, and our two children were in the back seat." • The Risk: "The explosion of glass occurred inches away from my children's heads. This is a severe safety hazard caused by a known manufacturing defect in the rear defroster grid".
Closed the hatch to the CRV and the glass shattered. Looked up on line and there was a voluntary product update campaign requested.
My case has only 40k miles on it and the Body Control Module failed costing me $1k+
The driver side sun visor became very difficult to operate and when trying to place in back in the stored / upright position it will not go into place and hangs down 2-4" that can cause visibility problems especially for taller drivers. This is a very common defect on several Honda vehicles as seen on Honda Forums or a Google search of Honda Sunvisor problem.
The driver side sun visor will not stay in a stowed position. Instead, it flops down and blocks my view of the road. It has become progressively worse. I have tried moving the visor to the side position so I can see out of the front windshield but that creates another safety issue because it is so loose that it literally swings when I turn or go over any bumps and hits me causing another major safety distraction. By not being able to see without obstruction, my daily drive is much more hazardous. I've shown this to the dealer who said that the issue is "VERY COMMON" and that the failure is due to the internal parts of the visor simply breaking and rendering the car visor to be useless for its' intended purpose and dangerous as it now obstructs view and swings uncontrollably when car is in motion. This...
Sun visors are extremely hard to move. May require two hands.
Driving on freeway when a loud noise came from driver side window and the window had completely shattered. The whole window was completely gone by the time I was able to realize what happened. It was like it broke all at once.
The visor on the driver's side does not go all the up or down. This puts the driver and passengers at risk for an accident, especially if driving into the sun by limiting needed visibility for the driver. The visor was brought to the dealer's attention.. He said I would be responsible for the cost of a new visor and installation. I was told upon buying the car that it was tight because it was new and would "work itself out." It never has become better., only looser.
The 2018 Honda Crv driver side mirror replacement parts are.too magnified than the original mirror when purchased the vehicle. The passenger side mirror is this correct mirror as originally purchased the vehicle. It's a safety concern as it is constant balancing of looking into a magnified glass mirror and then a more distant one and causes dizziness. Honda can replace the part but the part is the incorrect (too magnified) mirror and should be an expedited recall.
Display screen regularly & unexpectedly malfunctions while the vehicle is in motion. During these times, the display screen dims, goes dark, freezes, or goes into full bright mode. This continues throughout a cycle until the can can be stopped & restarted. Also, the windshield continues to crack along the base from side to side without any noticeable damages prior & I continue to have it replaced.
Windshield washer nozzle freezes just below 32, resulting in limited view. Weather was clear, at or just below 32F. Started with driver sider and later on both side froze, unable to see on freeway as other cars in front sprays snow melting water.
A multitude of cracks forming with in 2 years. First one happened with zero Contact to the windshield. Others when Ice landed on windshield. Another when barely moving and a small cack noise and a small crack appeared.
The driver's side sun visor will not stay up in the correct position it keeps falling down causing visibility issues. when I'm going down the interstate at 70 miles an hour and The driver side sun visor decides to just go from the correct position and fall down into my line of view especially at night there's a couple of seconds there where my eyes get taken off the road to deal with it and that shouldn't happen. I consider this to say the issue it's no different than your phone ringing and looking down to see who's calling because when it just falls down in front of your face those couple of seconds something could happen. I get my Honda CRV serviced regularly at the dealership and I've mentioned it to them and they've offered to let me order one and pay for it and they would put it...
Sun visor is not staying up. Already replaced once under warranty but it is happening again about 1.5 years later.
THE HEATING/ COOLING SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION VERY WELL IN COLD TEMPERATURES. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE CABIN TO HEAT UP IN THE WINTER, AND ON SHORT TRIPS IT DOES NOT HEAT UP SUFFICIENTLY, EVEN WHEN I LET THE CAR "WARM UP" IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE I DRIVE AWAY. WHILE THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A MINOR INCONVENIENCE, IT IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE WINDOWS KEEP FOGGING UP, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE REAR WINDOWS ARE HARD TO KEEP DEFROSTED AND VISIBILITY IS VERY LIMITED WHEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE AND HAVING TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO LOWER MY BACK WINDOWS IN ORDER TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT, BUT THAT IS ALSO LIMITED BECAUSE THE WINDOWS DO NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY. I ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THIS WHEN THEY FOG UP...
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSANGER SIDE ON 02/02/2020 WHEN IT WAS PARKED. NO SIGNS OF ANY CHIPS.
2018 PARKED HONDA CRV - BACK WINDOW SHATTER WHILE CAR STATIONARY
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACK DEVELOPED ON ITS OWN. DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT AND REFERRED TO NEARBY GLASS COMPANY FOR REPAIR. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CASES A 6INCH+ CRACK IN THE PASSENGER'S FIELD OF VIEW.
WINDSHIELD CRACK FROM DRIVERS SIDE EDGE TOWARD THE MIDDLE. CRACK IS NOW OVER 18 INCHES. NO APPARENT ROCK CHIP AT ORIGIN OF CRACK. NOW A SECOND CRACK HAS FORMED. CRACK WAS DISCOVERED IN MORNING AFTER PARKING CAR IN GARAGE OVER NIGHT.
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK ON ITS OWN WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A COVERED PARKING. THERE WAS NO IMPACT/DAMAGE. THE CRACK SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY POOL DESIGN/WORKMANSHIP
NOTICED A LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE CAR LAST WEEK. GOT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AND SAW A THIN LINE RUNNING THE LENGTH OF BOTH WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE CRACK WAS IN THE BLACK PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AT THE DEFROST LINE. THE CRACK SEEMED TO SPREAD AFTER COLD NIGHTS. I HAVE INFORMED MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM.
MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE JUST ABOVE ONE OF THE AIR VENTS (IN MARCH 2019) OVERNIGHT WHILE PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT TO MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. NO OTHER CARS WERE NEAR IT FOR THE CRACK TO OCCUR, AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF IMPACT. I TOOK IT INTO HONDA (HONDA OF LISLE) THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE THEM INSPECT IT AND THE DEALERSHIP DEEMED IT "NON-IMPACT" CAUSED BASED ON THEIR INVESTIGATION. HOWEVER, SINCE IT WAS WINDSHIELD DAMAGE, THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO SUBMIT IT TO THEIR REGIONAL DIRECTOR WHO WOULD MAKE THE FINAL CALL AND DETERMINE WHETHER IT WOULD BE COVERED BY THE HONDA AS A SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE UNDER THE WARRANTEE (THE CAR WAS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD). AFTER SUBMITTING IT TO HIM, CUSTOMER RELATIONS INFORMED ME, SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THAT THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR DEEMED THE CRACK "IMPACT CAUSED" BASED ON HIS VISUAL INSPECTION...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. TAMAROFF HONDA (28585 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (248) 327-4881) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,500.*JB
THE SUNROOF KEEP LEAKING WATER TO THE TRUNK. I GOT IT REPAIRED 3 TIME. THE ISSUES HAPPEN DURING A RAINSTORM OR GOING TO A CARWASH:
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND HEARD A LOUD BANG THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. ONCE PULLED OVER, I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE BANG OCCURRED WHEN MY SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. AFTER PARKING AND LOCKING THE VEHICLE, AN AUDIBLE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALARM SOUNDED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED, THE AUDIBLE SOUND FOR THE DOOR LOCK WOULD SOUND; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DISPLAY WOULD OCCASIONALLY FLASH ON AND OFF AND THEN GO BLANK. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED TO WORK. COMMUNITY HONDA LAFAYETTE (LOCATED AT 1407 LA 728-8, LAFAYETTE, LA 70501, (337) 235-9086) STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS PROGRAMMED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING, WHICH WAS A FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE...
AFTER HAVING A MANDATORY UPDATE DONE BY HONDA JANUARY 3 2019 I NO LONGER HAVE HEAT IN MY VEHICLE WHEN ITS BELOW FREEZING. MY WINDOWS CANNOT STAY DEFROSTED OR SAFE TO SEE OUT OF. I HAVE TO KEEP PULLING OVER TO SCRAPE WINDOWS DURING STORMS. ALSO FEBRUARY 14 I NOTICED MY ENGINE RAPPING BADLY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALER. MY ENGINE OIL WAS 1 INCH OVER THE HIGH FILL LINE. HONDA CORPORATE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL ME THAT IT'S 100% NORMAL AND FINE, AND OIL DILUTION IS NORMAL AND FINE. MY ENGINE IS RAPPING BADLY, I HAVE HAD COWORKERS WHO ARE ASE CERTIFIED LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THAT'S ENGINE DAMAGE AND THE ENGINE WILL FAIL AND PROBABLY SOON. MY OIL WAS LAST CHANGED 1600 MILES AGO, AND IN THAT TIME IT GOT 1 INCH OVER FILLED, GASOLINE IS IN MY OIL NOW. HONDA...
THE HEAT IN THE 2018 CRV DOES NOT OPERATE SAFELY DURING AVERAGE WINTER TEMPERATURES (NORTH DAKOTA). WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY COLD OUTSIDE, BELOW ZERO DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THE HEAT IS NON EXISTENT CAUSING A TERRIBLE PROBLEM WITH DEFROSTING WINDOWS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR RESOLUTION. THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL ENGINE AND THERE WAS NO FIX IN PLACE FROM HONDA. I PROCEEDED WITH AN INCIDENT WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHICH THE CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THIS WAS AN UNKNOWN ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER AND MANY CAR FORUMS SAY OTHERWISE. I GUESS NOW I WAIT FOR RESOLUTION, TRADE THE VEHICLE, OR CRASH AS MY WINDSHIELD FOGS UP DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
I LIVE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, A VERY COLD CLIMATE. MY HONDA CR-V EX HAS REMOTE START. WITH EVERY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED, YOU REMOTE START THE VEHICLE, IT IDLES FOR 10-15 MINUTES AND YOUR CAR GETS WARM AND THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTS. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT DO THIS. IT REMAINS COOL, AND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DOES NOT DEFROST. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN A COLD WEATHER CLIMATE. THE ENGINE HAS TO BE RUN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MANY MILES (SAY 10-15) BEFORE THE ENGINE HEATS UP ENOUGH TO PRODUCE NOTICABLE HEAT. THIS IS UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WITH THE WINDSHIELD. DURING A RECENT ICE STORM, I COULD NOT KEEP MY WINDSHIELD FROM BUILDING UP ICE BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH HEAT TO THE WINDSHIELD EVEN USING THE DEFROST SETTING AND FANS AT FULL ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER FAILED TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRIVEN BEFORE THE VEHICLE WARMED UP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCLARTY HONDA (10 COLONEL GLENN CT, LITTLE ROCK, AR, (501) 482-5326) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED; HOWEVER, THE OIL WAS CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 09213798. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
FROM THE LACK OF HEAT COMING OUT (ENGINE VERY VERY SLOW TO WARM UP) THE WINDSHIELD DOES NOT CLEAR OFF WELL WHEN ITS SNOWING. I NEVER OWNED A CAR LIKE THIS, ITS RIDICULES HOW LONG IT TAKES TO WARM UP. IT MAKES DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ITS SNOWING
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TRIM PIECES ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE ARE DESIGNED SUCH THAT THERE IS A TROUGH OR CHANNEL THAT RUNS UP THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDSHIELD ON BOTH SIDES. THE DEPTH OF THE CHANNEL VARIES; BEING DEEPER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD AND TAPERING DOWN TO LESS DEEP AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, WATER IS DEPOSITED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE CHANNEL BY THE WIPER WHEN THE WIPER COMPLETES ITS UPWARD STROKE. THERE IS NO WHERE FOR THE WATER TO GO. AS THE WIPER BEGINS ITS DOWNWARD STROKE, THE POOLED WATER IS PULLED OUT FROM THE CHANNEL AND TRAVELS HORIZONTALLY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE RESULT IS THAT 2-3 INCHES OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BECOMES UNUSABLE WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THIS ACTUALLY MAKES QUITE A BIT OF DIFFERENCE IN...
DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR BLURRY/SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ANY SPEED GOING OVER BUMPS; WHICH CAUSES SOME VISIBILITY CONCERNS- INCREASING THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT WHEN CHANGING LANES. NOTICED IT DAY AFTER PURCHASE OF NEW CAR. DEALER REPLACED JUST THE MIRROR-DID NOT FIX PROBLEM, THEN DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE MIRROR ASSEMBLY-DID NOT FIX PROBLEM, TECHNICIAN AT DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE MULTIPLE NEW 2018 CR-V'S ON THE LOT AND FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM ON EVERY CAR HE DROVE. AFTER MUCH LOBBYING/BEGGING(TO THE DEALER AND HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE) FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE ADDRESSED/FIXED, HONDA SENT OUT A FIELD ENGINEER TO EVALUATE, WHO TEST DROVE MY CAR AND 2 OTHER NEW LOT 2018 CR-V CARS, FOUND MIRROR VIBRATION AND BLURRINESS IN ALL CARS WITH SOME VARIABILITY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF VIBRATION/BLURRINESS, OR "TOLERANCE" EXPECTED, UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED WITHIN A TOLERABLE RANGE....
SIDE MIRROR REAR VISIBILITY, PARTICULARLY THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE, IS DANGEROUSLY LOW. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN PREPARING TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE, ONE CAN NOT SEE THE WHITE LINES TO GUIDE YOU IN. OUR PREVIOUS 3RD GENERATION (2007-2011) CRV HAD SUPERB SIDE MIRROR VISIBILITY. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT HONDA'S DANGEROUS AND INCONVENIENT DESIGN FLAW IS TO OFFER "REVERSE TILT DOOR MIRRORS", WHICH AUTOMATICALLY TILT DOWNWARD WHEN REVERSING. IRONICALLY, HONDA, OFFERS THIS FEATURE IN OTHER COUNTRY MARKETS, BUT NOT ON ANY US MARKET CRV TRIM LEVELS. THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR APPEARS TO BE EXCESSIVELY ANGLED BACK, NOT STANDING OUT ADEQUATELY TO ALLOW A CLEAR VIEW ALONG THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. AS A RESULT, I CAN ONLY SEE THE CAR'S BULBOUS (OUTWARDLY CURVED) RIGHT SIDE. THE LEFT SIDE MIRROR CAN/MUST BE MANUALLY LOWERED TO SEE WHERE ONE IS BACKING, WHICH MOST PEOPLE WON'T DO, AMOUNTING TO A SAFETY HAZARD. AS...
