PURCHASED FORD ESCAPE IN 2014. HAD 39,000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING IN THE ENGINE. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT. I TOOK THE ESCAPE TO A REPUTABLE SHOP IN TOWN AND THEY FIXED IT. THE COST WAS $4,346.00. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THERE IS A COURT SETTLEMENT TO REIMBURSE BUYERS WHO WERE INDISPOSED BY THE DEFICIENCY OF THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE REIMBURSE ME FOR FAULTY PARTS.

IN MY DRIVEWAY, I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF. IT FELT ODD, SO I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON. A MESSAGE SAYING THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WILL START AND DRIVE, BUT WILL NOT GO INTO PARK. AFTER TALKING TO FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT , I LOOKED FOR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. ONE EXISTS FOR THE MAKE AND MODEL BUT THIS CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURE DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,000.

THE ELECTRICAL CONTROLS (RADIO & HVAC) ON CONSOLE AND DASHBOARD HAVE A SHORTAGE AND GO OUT REGULARLY. I POINTED THIS SHORTAGE OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED WHEN I CAME TO PICK IT UP.. THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY. I REPLACED THE BATTERY IN NOVEMBER 2018 WITH A FORD BATTERY. 4 MONTHS LATER, IN FEBRUARY 2019 IT FAILED TO START DUE TO EXCESSIVE LEAKAGE WITH CORROSIVE EXPOSURE. THERE WERE OVERHEATING ISSUES ON THE NEW ENGINE AT TIME OF INSTALL (STATED IN DEALER NOTES), BUT THEY "FIXED" THEM. THE CAR NOW HAS 103,000 MILES. HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY, WITH OCCASIONAL OVERHEATING ISSUES NOTED. TRANSMISSION FAILED LAST MONTH. WAITED OVER 2 WEEKS FOR DIAGNOSIS. TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND ANOTHER NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED BECAUSE OF COOLANT LEAK. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 100,000 MILES.
