Power steering loss power and transmission failed
The transmission shift linkage bushing broke. See safety recall for Ford Escape 2013-2014 18S20. My care was built at the Louisville manufacturing plant on May 3, 2013, 12 days prior to the safety recall for this exact problem.

The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission were degraded o and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition did not allow me to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
I recently had a potentially deadly encounter while driving on an interstate. While traveling at 55 mph, my (automatic transmission) vehicle suddenly shifted into first gear on its own. I can’t begin to explain how much stopping force that created on the vehicle and my body, so much so that it caused the vehicle to momentarily skid. Had it not been for my seat belt and an alert tractor trailer driver, the result could have been deadly. This is the second time this has happed with my vehicle. After the first time that this happened the vehicle went to an ASE Certified mechanic shop for evaluation. After an extended period of time, the mechanic could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. As is common knowledge, if an “error code” isn’t produced, a mechanic can only hope to replicate the same event to help assist in diagnosing the problem. After this...
My 2013 Ford Escape was not included in the safety recall 18S20. I had the exact failure that is described in recall. Shift cable bushing that attaches to shift lever on transmission came off and vehicle was stuck in reverse. The bushing was soft crumbing apart and would not stay on the transmission lever. Vehicle missed recall date by 8 days. This vehicle should of been part of the recall 18S20 and for all safety reasons that it was issued for. Ford refused to repair the part under the recall, so very close to recall start date and a $1.53 part.
The suv stutters and jerks at take off real hard
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while shifting from PARK to REVERSE, there was a delay with the transmission going into gear. The contact shifted back into PARK. The contact called a local independent mechanic and describe the failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure could be related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V471000 (Power Train) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.
Shifter bushing is worn out and broken not allowing the vehicle to go into gear and lock to that gear. I was parked during this time but it didn't allow my car to go into park without force so wasn't sure if the car would rollback. I mentioned the open recall on certain models to Ford and was confirmed that the issue is re-occurring in multiple Ford Escape, Focus, and Fusion models to date. The vehicle has been repaired for the same open recall (18S20) but paid for by out-of-pocket expenses. There were no warning or indications that the vehicle had this issue the issue happened once on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
This just so the information is sent in to someone I bought this car used from.day one had problems warranty did not cover anything. First when you would start it it would flash power steering assist fault on the dash you shut car off and restart it goes away. Then the turbo boost sensors keep going I have replaces these three different times find out there is a service bulletin out for it but ford won't fix it for free there is a short in the wire you have to pay out of pocket for. Next was driving down the road and lost all power it went into limp mode while we were driving. The transmission is all messed up in this vehicle it was leaking fluid and took it to a shop to see where and can't find it. There are other electrical issues with the car I have...
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that as her daughter attempted to place the gear shifter into reverse, the gear shifter seized between reverse and neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact's daughter called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V471000 (Power Train). The contact then had the vehicle towed to a dealer where she was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. Don's Ford (5712 Horatio St, Utica, NY 13502) was also called and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic where it remained in their possession unrepaired. The failure mileage was 110,000.
While driving ,the car slips and jerks then the transmission will just stop. The car is still running and in drive. I had to coast and find a place on the shoulder of the road to pull off. I turned the car off and started back driving, and I went roughly 12 miles and it started again. So I pulled off and let it sit for around 10 minutes and tried it again. I was able to get close to where my wife works and it started again. Pulled off waited a few minutes and got to where she works. I left it there and got her vehicle and went home. I then contacted the Ford dealership and they took my message down and said they would have the service department contact me. After 3 days and still no call back, I called them and they ran the vin and...
WHILE DRIVING, INDICATORS SAID LOW COOLANT. CHECKED THE LEVEL AND IT WAS FINE. ERROR KEEPS SHOWING UNTIL SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION AND LOST ALL MOTOR POWER. DASH ILLUMINATED WITH 'ENGINE OVERHEATING' AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY, REMOVED THE KEY FROM IGNITION AND CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD. COOLANT LEVEL WAS FINE. TOOK TO AUTO BODY SHOP, THEY SAID CODES WERE SHOWING FOR LOW COOLANT/OVERHEATING BUT THEY DID A PRESSURE TEST AND FOUND COOLANT LEAKING INSIDE CYLINDER, WHICH COINCIDES WITH THE HUGE ENGINE RECALL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. FORD WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS ALTHOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS A PROBLEM BUT 'MY VIN ISN'T ON THE LIST'. ENGINE REPEATING TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND LOSE POWER GOING FROM 30MPH DOWN TO 5 SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I'M DISABLED AND FORD CO WON'T HELP NOR WILL ANY...
SHUDDERING SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT AS A USED CAR NOW DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ,HARD TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES AND SHUDDERS IN A FRIGHTENING MANNER. NOW SO BAD AT IDLE IN PARK, PUT TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND THE CAR TRIES TO TAKE OFF AND IS DIFFICULT TO HOLD BACK WITH THE BRAKES
OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS A VIN THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL #18S20, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME AND CAUSE THE BUSHING TO DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN PARK, WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. OVER THE WEEKEND, OUR CAR EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE COVERED IN THIS RECALL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE VIN, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RECALLED IN THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR WITH A DIFFERENT VIN. THE ISSUE OCCURRED AFTER I PARKED THE CAR. AFTER BEING PUT IN PARK, THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL. THE DASH DISPLAY INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE, BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER...
DRIVING BACK HOME LATE AT NIGHT ON A BUSY FREEWAY A MOM AND 2 KIDS BY THEM SELF MY CAR "OVERHEAT PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON" SO I STARTED TO GET OVER LIGHT THEN THE WENT OFF WEIRD SO I TURNED THE HEATER ON IT WAS WORKING I STILL PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF THEN COLD AIR STARTED BLOWING I GOT OFF PULLED INTO GAS STATION CAR DIED. NOW CAR WON'T START HAD TO GET IT TOWED. I BELIEVE IT'S A BLOWN HEAD GASKET I ALWAYS CHECK MY FLUIDS AND I KNOW...

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL JUST SHUT OFF. DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT 55 THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF ALMOST CAUSING A REAL BAD ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR AND A COUPLE MONTHS AND THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT LEAST A MINIMUM OF 50 TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO A SHOP TO GET DIAGNOSED AND NO-ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. MY 17 YEAR DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IF THIS IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I SEEN THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON MY FORD ESCAPE 2013. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER STALLED JUST SITTING STILL ALWAYS STALLED WHILE MOVING FORWARD BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 20-65
I PULLED IN THE DRIVE WAY. PUT THE SUV IN PARK BUT MY CAR WAS STILL ROLLING. I NOTICED MY DASH SAID I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON BUT MY GEAR SHIFTER WAS LOCKED. I THEN STARTED LOOKING UP WITH THE PROBLEM MAY BE. I WAS ABOUT TO RELEASE MY GEAR SHIFTER BUT USING THE UNLOCK WHITE LEVER UNDER THE COMPARTMENT. STILL NOTHING CHANGED MY CAR WAS STILL IN NATURAL. HAD EMERGENCY BREAK ACTIVATED TO KEEP THE CAR IN PLACE IN MY DRIVE. KEPT SEARCHING AN FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BUSHING. IT WAS ALMOST MIDNIGHT SO I LEFT MY CAR OVERNIGHT WITH E BREAK ON TILL DAY LIGHT. THIS MORNING WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AN SURE ENOUGH IT WAS DETACHED. THE BUSHING WAS GONE. I MANUALLY BUT MY CAR IN PARK. CALLED ALL AUTO STORES AN THE INFORMED ME...

I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE 2 DAYS AND IT STALLS ON ME. SLOWING DOWN COMING TO RED LIGHT CAR STALLS. HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 DAYS. NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANYTHING. I AM DEATHLY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW TOTALLY UNSAFE!
THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WITH NO WARNING ON ACCELERATION (IN MOTION). THE VEHICLE WILL START AGAIN AND THIS CAN HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT VISIBLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. FORD SERVICE HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AS WE HAVE DESCRIBED THIS PROBLEM TO THEM SEVERAL TIMES.
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 19 WITH 91 THOUSAND MILES. IN 3MOS. MY ENGINGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. MY HOOD WAS VIBRATING AND TRANS WAS SHIFTING HARD AND JUMPING IN AND OUT. TOOK IT TO FORD IN MESQUITE TX. I PAID 800 + DOLLARS FOR MOTOR MOUNT. TWO DAYS LATER VIBRATIONS RETURN. TOOK IT BACK. THEY SAID THAT'S NORMAL. DIDNT DO DIAGNOSTICS. 2MOS AGO IT STARTED RATTLING FROM THE REAR. VIBRATIONS WORST. FORD SAID ITS TRANSMISSION MOUNT NOW. THIS CAR HAS OVER 10 RECALLS PERFORMED. I CANT AFFORD TO FIX. I TOOK FOR ANOTHER LICENSE SHOP. MECHANIC SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT HE SAID THE EXHAUST AND MOUNTS GO OUT FREQUENTLY ON THESE CARS. IT WOULD KILL IN ON HIS ONE WARRANTY. SAID MOUNTS CAN GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN 3MONTHS. I'M STUCK WITH THIS MONEY TAKING LEMON. 2013 WITH 101 THOUSAND MILES.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION JIST LET'S GO AND THEN WHEN YOU STOP AND TURN IT OFF AND TURN BACK ON YOUR ABLE TO GET GOING BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION TO GET BACK INTO DRIVE BUT IT'S CONSTANTLY DOING THAT AS IT'S DRIVING YOU LOSE THE POWER TO IT OR ACT LIKE IT'S BOGGING DOWN AND SO FORTH IT SEEMS LIKE THIS ALREADY WAZIRI CALL ON SOME LIKE THIS BUT NOT FOR SURE
SUDDEN AND TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH. CAR HAS LESS THAN 50000 MILES ON IT. DEALERSHIP REPORTS NEW HEAD CYLINDER REQUIRED AND STATES NO KNOWLEDGE OF ENGINE ISSUES FOR THIS MODEL. REPAIRS ESTIMATED AT $5300.
WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP AND IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE, THE ENGINE RPM WILL DROP SUBSTANTIALLY, THE CAR WILL SHAKE AND SHUDDER AND OFTEN STALL COMPLETELY. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND NO VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC CODES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, SHE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED TO PARK, RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING FORWARD. SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN AND ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. SHE RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE STILL ROLLED AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE MOVED AS SHE WAS NOT ON A HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A DETACHED SHIFT CABLE AND THE BUSHING WHICH DETERIORATED AND DETACHED FROM THE SHIFT CABLE AS WELL. THE SHIFT CABLE WAS NO LONGER...
I DRIVE VEHICLE A LITTLE AND IF I STOP THEN WHEN I START CAR IT WILL STALL WHEN I START DRIVING AND I HAVE TO CRANK IT AGAIN AND IT WILL GO A LITTLE AND DIE AGAIN. I PULLED INTO INTERSECTION AND CAR DIED LEAVING ME IN SITTING IN THE HIGHWAY . I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUNTERSVILLE FORD (13825 STATESVILLE RD, HUNTERSVILLE, NC 28078) WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE THE FAILURE. CODE P0741 (TORQUR CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF) COMES UP. TRANSMISSION SLAMS WHEN PUTTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE AND THEN ALMOST STALLS. BUT SHIFTS AND DRIVES FINE
STARTING IN MAY OF 2020 MY FORD ESCAPE STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AS WELL AS THE EXPRESSWAY IT HESITATES IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE THE MOMENT YOU TAP THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR STARTS TO SPUTTER AND THEN COMPLETELY STALLS OUT AND STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF WHEREVER YOU ARE THE STREET PARKING LOT IT DOESN'T MATTER IT ALSO HAS DONE THIS BACK-TO-BACK MULTIPLE TIMES OCCURRING MAYBE FOUR TO SIX TIMES IN A ROW BARELY ALLOWING ME TO MAKE IT FROM ONE DESTINATION TO THE OTHER. THE ESCAPE ALSO OVERHEATED REPLACED THE COOLANT SENSOR REPLACED THE FUEL REGULATOR AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME EXACT THING. IT JUST DECREASED THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THAT IT WOULD DO IT IN A ROW SO NOW IT DOES IT TO THREE TIMES. IT ALSO STALLS OUT AND DIES WHILE IT STOPLIGHTS MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AS YOU'RE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION COMING...
I WENT THRU THE CAR WASH AND TRIED TO PUT MY CAR FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE AND THE GEAR JUMPED INTO PARK JAMING THE TRANSMISSION INTO REVERSE. THEN I LOST ALL POWER, I COULDN'T START MY CAR AND BEGAN TO BE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR WASH CUSTOMER. I HAD TO HABE THE CAR TOWED FOR REPAIRS & RENT A CAR UNTIL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THERE ARE RECALLS FROM FORD ON THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. FORD REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS AND "IF" A RECALL COMES AVAILABLE THEN I WOULD BE COMPENSATED. THANK GOD I WASN'T DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE POINT THIS BUSHING BROKE LOOSE! THIS IS A HAZARD FOR MORE THAN A FEW 2013 FORD ESCAPES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF VIN# FOR THE RECALL. VERY UNSATISFIED FROM THE...
ECOBOOST ENGINE HAS INTERNAL LEAKS. COOLING SYSTEM HAS LEAKS AND FAULTY SENSORS. CAR OVERHEATS OR THINKS IT'S OVERHEATING AND SHUTS DOWN. WHILE ON A DANGEROUS HIGHWAY WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OVER CAR OVERHEATED SO I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. FINDING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES. SOME CARS EVEN CATCHING FIRE.
