Engine oil leaks. VVT solenoid seal in the rear valve cover is leaking oil. That seal is integrated with the valve cover. Replace valve cover at 66,000 miles. I am excellent about my Jeep/vehicle maintenance. Warranty ended at 65,000 miles.
Without any previous warnings, the car stopped in the middle of the drive. Then the battery warning turned on, after trying to turn it back on.
I have a 2019 jeep cherokee 4wd with 46077 miles. This has never happened before until now. It was dark out heading to work. I came to a stop when I went to go the jeep just literally shut down. Everything turned off- I had no lights, no engine, no warning at all. Would not start at all. I called my husband and when I opened the driver door the jeeps dash finally came on and I tried to start it, wouldn't at first than tried again it started. I turned around and drove back home. Contacted the garage. This is unsafe for anyone to put their life on the line. I was lucky I didn't get hit. I have 5 grandkids and this is not a safe vehicle to drive when there is no warning at all. Luckily It didn't do this on the railroad tracks. The garage told...
My battery went out and I literally replaced it last year. Also when I replaced it last year the back light would stay on sometimes all night and day I was worried it could start a fire or something dealer didn't even bother checking it and left it like that and replaced the battery. Last month my vehicle wouldn't start and no warning or nothing before it just died on me good thing I had it in my driveway when this happened.
Stopped car at red light. Car died. Totally. Engine cut out. Brakes failed, no steering. Tried to restart multiple times. Luckily light was on a decline. Ended up putting it in N and drifting through intersection and into parking lot. Again, no steering, no brakes. Very frightening. When turning key initially after stall, lights on instrument panel lit up but no engine start. By the time I got into the lot, not even lights. Totally dead. Had it towed to dealer. No idea what's wrong. VIN says no unrepaired recalls but this sounds an awful lot like the " engine stall" recall for 2.4L engines. Bought used with 5k miles. Wondering now if this issue was previously " fixed" and is recurring, if it can be permanently fixed or is an unsafe vehicle. I'm [XXX] and transport 2 grandchildren under 8. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT...
I was involved in a single vehicle accident at 5 am on October 5, 2023 on a rural road in Deland, Florida. I was on an unfamiliar road with a sharp curve and as I was trying to slow down the I was unable to slow down or steer the vehicle. It slammed into a cluster of trees and immediately the engine caught fire. I crawled out of the vehicle in pain from the force of the crash and was disoriented. A good Samaritan came to my aide and called the Volusia County Sherriff. I can remember my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude was fully engulfed in very intense flames in less than 8 minutes. It was so intense it set fire to the wooded area. This wasn't the first problem I had with this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle new from a dealer in Bowie, MD in 2019. Since that...
The engine has failed. The cylinder has low compression and the engine misfires and can no longer be ran. When the incident first happened we were left on the side of a busy interstate 3 hours away from home. Upon doing some research MANY other Jeep Cherokee owners for my years make and model have reported the same problem. There was ABSOLUTLEY no warning before the issue arose. We were then left with a hefty car loan for a vehicle that no longer runs. We got two opinions from two mechanics of which both said it’s a manufacture problem and that we did not cause the issue. It would cost 8k or more to fix the problem.
Vehicle stops accelerating randomly and loses power. Service electronic throttle control light comes on and engine light and traction control light and vehicle will not accelerate or stalls. Had vehicle towed to dealership and the code is saying the PTU is bad and needs to be replaced. This happens all the time, thankfully I’ve been very lucky thus far not having my children in the vehicle with me when it happens as this could cause a very serious accident.
Vehicle would randomly not start. Initially, it was several months between episodes. Would not jump-start so I would have it towed to a service center / dealership. Once off the tow truck it would start right up. Diagnosis would not find anything and all systems checked out. After several episodes, I decided to leave it at Jeep dealership so they could troubleshoot. They opened case with Jeep but after several weeks, could not replicate the issue. I spent several hundred dollars between diagnosis and towing costs. A simple google search revealed that it wasn't just me having this exact issue with several Jeep vehicles, and even this same model. Tried to get jeep to buy vehicle back but they denied. They sent me to arbitration and they also denied my case. The vehicle again wouldn't start and sat in my yard for 2 weeks, however, all of the Jeep dealerships...
Total loss of motive power at 50MPH. Independent mechanic diagnostics report check engine light code P0EA7 “Auxiliary Cooling System Performance”. Independent mechanic diagnostics, determined no compression in cylinder 1.
The auto stop start feature is causing the car to stall out and shut off during a complete stop. The car check engine, light and auto start lights turn on. Then the car starts shaking and vibrating. It’s very unsafe to drive vehicle!
URGENT: Date of near life & death situation.10-6-2023.This 2019 KL Cherokee lost accelerating power while in heavy traffic. As the car was losing speed the "D" drive indicator on center dash started flashing a moments later 2 messages displayed: Msg 1: Service transmission Restart in Park with vehicle @ zero speed. Msg 2: Shift to park or neutral Press brakes and select gear. (Center dash is the screen between tachometer and speedometer) Followed instructions, turned key to off position for a few seconds then started engine placed shifter in drive, accelerated engine to 2000 RPMs, car failed to move. Turned key off a second time, waited about 18 seconds for the mileage readout to clear then another 6 seconds (+-) for the outline light bars for the center screen to clear. Then when started it engaged a drive gear. Even in residential areas there are large trash trucks and large...
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly accelerated. The RPM had increased to a high level. The 4WD service message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, there was an abnormal dinging sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where it was determined that the PTU was blocked and not working. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
We were driving down the road at about 60MPH and the engine just quite running. With the flow of traffic, I was almost hit in the rear end, but I was able to safely move to the shoulder of the road. The car would not restart and we had it towed to dealer. The dealer informed me it needed a new engine. Upon inspection and removal of the head of the engine, the #3 cylinder piston was melted and had zero compression and the #1 cylinder piston was partially melted and had zero compression as well. All regular maintenance was performed on the vehicle. We have the 2.0l vin N. No warning lights or codes were illuminated or present at the time of or after the incident.
Driving with my children and car started to shake a little when getting on highway, while on car started shaking violently and felt was going to die. I had to drive like that to get to an exit and was able to pull over. Turned the car off and turned back on. And same, then check engine light came on but not flashing. After getting it to a mechanic and the dealer was told my cylinder blew. And the engine is done. Felt that was a safety risk for me to driving with my children like that and now we are without a car. If someone maintains their car and gets regular oil checks then how is it possible for an engine to blow.
I was driving my 2019 jeep cherokee on a very busy road when my car came to a screeching stop while in drive and began grinding it would only go in reverse the transmission blew it only has 23000 miles on it currently it is a big safety concern
I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my car just shut off. No warning or anything. My speed went from 75 miles to 0 in less than a minute.
Engine shut off unexpectedly, with no indication of a problem existed. After Jeep certified mechanic diagnosis, cylinder #2 failed. Results, engine failure, engine replacement. 63900 miles on odometer.
As accelerating to pass a vehicle, the car would not accelerate. When it eventually did, it was miss firing and still wouldn’t accelerate properly. This caused a hindrance to the flow of traffic and eventually lost complete power while on the highway. It was towed to an independent service center and he confirmed there was an issue with the engine, with no obvious fault of the driver. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure of the engine.
While driving at highway speeds the vehicle engine stalled. I was unable to restart the vehicle after multiple attempts during rush hour traffic. The check engine light is now on and AC has failed as well, vehicle was limped to a dealership. There was a known recall that was repaired back in 2018 on this vehicle but it appears to have come back.
When coming to a stop with engine running the car engine turns off
2019 jeep Cherokee- check engine light came on at 62,000 miles - reading said it was a 'cylinder 1 misfire' - long story short, I need a whole new engine. Coolant is leaking into the cylinder and throughout the engine with scoring, etc.
My Jeep Cherokee stalled as I approached a stop light. I was able to restart.
I came to a major intersection and the SUV shut completely down. Would not start up. Steering wheel was stuck. Then voltage dropped to 11.7 volts. The battery always reads 13.7 and higher usually. Afttercharge back to 13.7. I was driving for 45 minutes continuously before incident happened.
The car will start, drive for a minute or two and then the battery warning light flashes and the car completely stalls out and dies. This has now happened 3 times. Back in I believe January it happened and I replaced the battery, but then was told that the battery I replaced was actually still good (it had only been a year old). It then happened yesterday and then again today. I have taken it into the dealership and it is apparently still related to the oil consumption being way higher then it should be (which I was under the impression was fixed 2 years ago when I took the car in for it stalling out). This car is incredibly unsafe. It is unacceptable that it just turns off in the middle of the road when I am transporting my children. Ridiculous to be stuck with a car that has...
My car just stated acting up I got several warnings, start stop not working, all the systems falling, I have checked battery and alternator but not luck it still have the same issues. Transmission not shifting. It died while I have’s driving on a really busy highway, luckily I was able to pull over.
Vehicle shut off while in drive, engine and all electrical power stopped.
The engine shuts off a lights and during turning on occasion presenting a very dangerous situation. This seems common in these jeeps
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while the vehicle was at a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle failed to shift into the intended gear and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed; however, the failure reoccurred while at another complete stop. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to respond while driving from a complete stop. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Vehicle stalls while driving. Check oil light not alerting driver of low oil resulting in frequent stalls while driving or idle.
When vehicle is in idle mode it completely shuts off causing risk of a accident
Svr 4x4 transmission issue
Re: Safety Concerns Regarding Jeep Cherokee 2019 Engine Misfire To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to report a significant safety issue regarding my Jeep Cherokee 2019. I bought the car new and have always serviced it in the official dealer. Recently, my vehicle began to misfire while I was driving, which caused me to feel unsafe and concerned for my safety. Upon taking my vehicle to the dealership, I was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer service report showed that the cause of the issue was a P0302 cylinder 2 misfire code, and that the engine was misfiring. Additionally, the report indicated that there was only 75 psi compression on cylinder #2 and 40% cylinder leakage. My car had only slightly exceeded the mileage limit of the manufacturer's warranty, which was for 60,000 miles, at 60,800 miles. However, the warranty did not cover the...
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle decelerated, lost motive power, and stalled. The contact stated that the oil and battery warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer that the vehicle was purchased. The Kia dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle and determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was then sent to an unknown Jeep dealer where the vehicle was awaiting diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The vehicle would overcharge in which made the vehicle loss all power, lighting, and steering control. U had to come to a complete stop and restart the vehicle which would put it into limp mode and not handle properly
Was driving 57mph when the jeep just stopped running. The battery light came on so I pushed the gas peddle to see if it was working it was not. Cars behind me traveling the same speed. Almost got rear-ended before I was Able to pull off the road. Car will not start now. makes a humming/buzzing noise.
For the passed few months (beginning Sept 2022), my cars temperature gauge inside shows that its running hot even when there is coolant present. When checking the coolant prior to taking off the cap, the conatiner looks empty. However, when i take off the cap there is a gurgling noise and the container refills on its own. Unfortunately. I've had to add coolant to my car every 5-10 days to make sure it stays full because it constantly says it's hot, all the way to the H. Since then there have been a list of other issues: 1. heat has randomly stopped working and the check engine light has come on. 2. Error message saying automatic stop/start is unavailable and service stop/start 3. Lots of jerking when pressing the gas petal to accelerate and you can hear the gears trying to move, but it gets stuck at 1 number and...
MY JEEP HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE ENGINE STALLS OUT AND THE ENGINE MAKES A KNOCKING SOUND. THIS MORNING, 12/20/22, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WENT TO SLOW DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT AND THE EMERGENCY BREAK ENGAGED AND THE JEEP STALLED OUT. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. NOW THE JEEP IS DINGING AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT IS FLASHING SAYING" SERVICE PARK BREAK". . THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM REFUSES TO ASSIST ME ANYMORE AND I AM AT A LOSS.
This vehicle equipped with turbocharge. On 3 different occasions vehicle stalled instead of accelerating while pulling out into traffic from a stopped position. Message appeared saying "Service electronic throttle". Also, ESS symbol came on in red where warning symbols appear at the same time.Later, that went off and electrical symbol came on, looks like lightning bolt. Engine did restart itself after about 20 seconds, with vehicle shuddering rather violently. This could have caused a serious accident.
When stopped at multiple ref lights having my foot on the break pedal the car suddenly accelerates on its own and stays at 2000 rpms. This does not go away and the car must be put in park and turned off for the issue to stop.
The engine dies without warning while driving and it's burning gas much more than usual. Car has been brought back to dealer with no lasting remedy. One dealer blamed it on a built-in function which causes the engine to stop if the oil level is low so that the engine doesn't burn up, but the oil level was fine. Another dealer said the it was the "auto on/off" function that is controlled by a separate battery that could be bad or the switch that controls the "auto on/off" function, but did not fix it.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle was jerking, and the engine revved inadvertently. The contact also stated that when she applied the brakes, a loud abnormal noise was heard. After parking the vehicle, the parking brake engaged independently. Additionally, the contact also stated that she needed to refill the engine oil on a weekly basis. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on two different occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to Lone Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (8811 Interstate 35 Access Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211) where various unknown repairs were performed; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that she was offered to trade in the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.
Hello -- My Jeep has had a repetitive issue with the Start/Stop system since I took ownership. In recent months, my vehicle has stalled on two separate occasions by completely shutting down at a stop light. First the "hood switch is open" alert comes up, then an emergency braking alert comes up, all while the vehicle completely shuts off as I am accelerating. This is extremely dangerous as it could definitely cause an accident as I'm mid-intersection. I have taken my vehicle to Jeep to complain of the issue, but they have let me know that the vehicle is not recording the error codes and there is nothing to be done. They literally send me home to continue driving it and have the stalling happen again. I have done extensive research and found that I am not the only Jeep owner with this issue. In fact, they have also gone...
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while in for a routine oil change it was discovered that oil was leaking from the rear main seal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who confirmed the leak and indicated that the rear main seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.
Vehicle auto stop/start malfunctioning. Vehicle has shut off while driving. Vehicle has shut off while coming to a stop. Vehicle fails to start with auto stop/start feature. Vehicle currently won’t start.
I bought this car end of July 2022, around 31,000 miles from a Jeep dealer. Within weeks I began receiving alerts on my dash that the 4WD needed to be serviced as well as the start/stop function. Dealer had my car in Sept for almost two weeks. Today, something flashed on my screen stating electric failure and it completely shut down. Nothing will turn on. It had to be drug up onto the tow truck as it could not be placed into neutral. Upon reviewing online resources, this appears to be an issue with this year/model, often happening while the car is in motion. This is terrifying! I have owned two Dodge Journeys and am currently leasing a wrangler. I have been a long time Dodge/Jeep customer and am terrified to drive this vehicle! If I could hand the keys back I would. The service center at the dealership said...
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. Additionally, the vehicle made abnormal sounds while driving. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced after an oil consumption test was performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,082.
The automatic start/stop feature shows a warning on the dashboard. The vehicle cut off completely at a stopping point 3 times on me. It’s not suppose to cut off completely, when I took my foot off the break and or pressed the gas the vehicle did not move nor was it still running.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 30-35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road and activated the hazard lights. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle after approximately 25 minutes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown recall as it had already been completed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The Jeep auto restarted after a sitting at a red light then the car shut off and would not go. The accessory lights were still on and the dashboard indicated the emergency brake was on. Pushed the restart car button but the car did not respond. I manually turned off the emergency break and waited a minute then the car restarted after pushing the button. My safety was put at risk because the light had turned green and the car behind me had started to go. I put my hazard lights on and the car drove around me. Had this happened at a higher speed the car would have ran into the back of me and I'm pregnant so the life of my unborn child would have been put at risk. The problem has not been reproduced. There was no warning that the car was going to experience a problem....
