My svc 4wd light came on in November of 2024. Took it to the dealer same month, they said my ptu failed and they couldn't do anything for it bc the parts were jot available. They weren't available on back order even. I paid for $130 dollars just to be told that they couldn't do anything. While at the dealer after they told me this news I went and talked to a salesmen, they told me they couldn't take the jeep in on trade bc they don't know when they could get the part so they would loose money with it sitting. Recall came out on this in January 2025 and it now is February of 2026..I'm still waiting. The car is unstable and is basically worthless and a death trap in rain and is worse in snow. I got offered a rental out of my own pocket. I'm still...

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, where the contact purchased a new battery and had the battery replaced. After the battery replacement, the failure recurred with the messages "Service Stop/Start System" and "Check Engine" displayed. The failure persisted with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The mechanic also replaced the transfer case and the rear differential. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that on three occasions after refueling the vehicle and driving approximately two feet, the vehicle unexpectedly shutoff. The message to “Shift to Park” was displayed. The contact activated the hazard lights. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was eventually restarted. The contact associated the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

Well the engine definitely failed to provide power for me to drive my vehicle. And as I am doing more and more research on what the PTU does, which is what there is a recall on. It appears the PTU not working correctly on my vehicle affected the engine, and the ability for car to properly utilize oil, thus affecting the operation of the cylinders 1 and 4 on my vehicle. I am being told I need a new engine however, I believe the PTU problem directly affected my engine because everything that happens with the failure of the PTU is similar things that happen with the failure of my engine, thus the two really are related. And if the PTU "talks to" the engine for proper consumption and usage of oil then, my current engine replacement needs to be covered under the recall of the PTU and any other...

I was driving down the interstate in the mountainous region of Montana. While coming down the hill, I lost all power in my vehicle. My car continued to slow down, unable to accelerate. I had multiple warnings/things flash across my screen that identified that I no longer had access to them. After about 30 minute or more of driving slower and slower, able to initially go 30 mph, then it continued to decrease. I was maybe to go 10 mph up a hill to try to get to the next town. I inched my way to the dealership to drop my car off. I know there is a recall on my vehicle for something related to power however in the past year, every time I take it to dealer, they say there is nothing available to fix it. I now have no vehicle and I could have easily been hit...

My 2019 Jeep Lost all power. Shortly after that My service 4wd light came on. I understand that this is a recent recall for the PTU but, my VIN number is not showing this recall. How do I get my Jepp added to this recall for the service 4wd indicator?

My check engine light comes on and stays on now. I have to put oil on my truck between oil changes. They haven't found any leaks. A diagnostic showed the camshaft as needing fixed at one point but the diagnostic hasn't given any other code problems. I'm having to put in oil frequently but the engine light had remained on. The check engine light will go off sometimes street i hey an oil change but then it comes back on.

The vehicle experienced a sudden and catastrophic failure of the powertrain/engine system. Based on dealer inspection, the failure requires complete replacement of the engine long block assembly, indicating an internal engine failure rather than a minor or maintenance-related issue. The vehicle and failed components are available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were placed at significant risk. The vehicle first shut off completely while I was proceeding through a four-way stop intersection, forcing me to restart the vehicle while stopped in the middle of the intersection. Later, while driving on a very busy highway, the vehicle again lost power and became completely inoperable. I was barely able to maneuver the vehicle onto the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a collision. The vehicle then would not fully shut off despite multiple attempts, further indicating a serious malfunction. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer, Krebs Chrysler...

I'm pretty sure it's the ptu . I was driving up a hilly road and my jeep had no power all of a sudden. Then the service 4wheel drive light came on in the cluster,/ dash. Then when I stopped the tires would not quit spinning. But I could tell only one at a time was rolling. But it would switch to a different tire .each time it switched it would almost catapult me of to the side or towards the middle of the road..I finally just shut the engine off . Because it seemed as though it had a mind of its own ...thank God the plow truck came up this road I was on . Because I was afraid to start it again due to the fact I did not want to go off in a trench . I had no traction when the wheels kept kicking in...

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee service light for 4wd came on. After having the car into a Jeep dealership for diagnostic/service I was told it was the PTU and no replace/fix is available. There is a recall for this year, make, model for this exact problem ( PTU ) however , my VIN# is not included under this recall. They need to widen the recall to ALL affected by this problem. clearly , my car has a PTU issue confirmed by the dealership, is the same year, make and model as the recalled cars with EXACT same problem.

My vehicle is under an open safety recall 01C involving the PTU system, and there has been no remedy available for nearly a year. This defect caused a dangerous and sudden loss of acceleration while I was driving, and the manufacturer has still provided no fix, and no support through the dealership. The incident occurred when I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green,I pressed the gas and the vehicle immediately made a loud grinding/shaking noise, shuddered violently, and lost all propulsion. The car would barely move. I was extremely lucky that there was a parking lot directly next to the intersection, and with the tiny amount of movement left,I was able to coast into it. If this failure had happened anywhere else—on a highway, in the middle of an intersection, or without a place to pull off—I could have been rear-ended or caused a collision....

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the engine randomly shuts off without warning. This has happened multiple times at different speeds. The vehicle suddenly loses all power, and I have to coast to the side of the road. There are no warning lights, messages, or diagnostic codes before or after the stall. The specific component causing the failure is unknown, but it seems related to the electrical/engine/powertrain system. This failure puts my safety at serious risk because the engine dies unexpectedly in traffic, which could easily cause a rear-end collision or loss of control. I had a diagnostic scan done at AutoZone and no trouble codes were found. There were no symptoms or warning lamps prior to each incident ,the engine simply shuts off while the vehicle is in motion. This is a recurring safety hazard.

An alert showed on the message board SVC 4WD and 4WD unavailable. We live part time in the mountains and rely on 4WD. Last winter we had snow and could not get up our driveway. When leaving the mountains we were going through the steps to tow our Jeep behind our RV. The system indicated failure to disengage the transmission so we were unable to tow the Jeep and we were still 1000 miles from home in Florida. We went to Jeep dealers in PA, DE, GA, and again in FL. All dealers found the issue with the PTU issue 01C but said there was not a remedy. Even if they replaced the PTU it could happen again as they did not know what inside the PTU was the problem. We've had some transmission slipping or hesitating as well.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). While driving at 55 MPH, the vehicle began shuddering and stalled. The 4X4 warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to remain in 4WD. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

I was getting off the highway and my car stopped on me. I put my emergency lights on. I put the car on park and tried turning it on. The brake was hard to push down. I gave it a few minutes to rest and I tried 2 more times. The second time it turned on but imediately turned back off. I let it rest a minute or so and it finally turned on. I was scared for my life because there all on coming traffic coming off the interstate. I did call the police for help but as soon as I got it started I called back for them not to come. I also got a warning saying engine warming. 6:30 am 10-30-25

When driving I experienced the loss of power when trying to accelerate. My Jeep began to exhibit a loud noise and vibration which sounded like a "Jack Hammer" being used. There was a smell like something was burning, there was jerking, grinding, making clunking noises and happened each time I was making a turn or trying to accelerate. This put my safety and other drivers safety at risk because it could have caused an accident especially with the loss of power. My wheels can lock up and this will cause me not be able to steer or have control over my vehicle. This can cause harm to myself and others which can include death of either party. I do have fluid that leaks from under the vehicle and the burning smell comes through the car vents. The problem has been reported to a confirmed Jeep dealership, Fred Frederick with no...

1. The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failed, which also caused damage to the transmission and rear drive system. The PTU is part of Recall 25V-011 / Jeep Campaign 01C. The failed components and all related service documentation are available for inspection upon request from Boone Jeep (July 8, 2025) and Randy Marion Jeep (September 10, 2025). No, PTU part was available. 2. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly jerked hard, lost all power, and became inoperable, putting me and other motorists at immediate risk of collision. The vehicle also would not go into Park, creating a rollaway hazard once stopped. These incidents occurred with my grandchildren in the vehicle, making it a severe safety concern. Despite confirming the PTU recall diagnosis, Jeep returned the vehicle to me with no repair available or timeline for a fix, forcing me to continue driving an unsafe vehicle. 3. Yes. Boone Jeep...

In March 2025 I experience shaking while driving every time I stopped. Took to Dearlership and Power Transfer Unit was replaced. Now September 2025, I experience shaking while accelerating. No clear answer on what is causing this.

My vehicle, had had issues with the brakes even after repairing (changing them) a horrible grinding and squeaking. The shifter reads "Service shifter soon" how does one even do this. The car jolts forward, or stalls in the middle of traffic, when I press the gas, when I brake sometimes it does not register, I have had the fuel sensor repaired and its still says its not working. I am going to be hit one day on account of this vehicle. I have taken it in to the dealership when these problems started with the auto start and stop censor going off. The windshield wiper line is kinked and I have taken this in multiple times for them to tell me nothing is wrong, and they do not service. Jeep brand is going to kill me due to its unsafe traveling. I have asked called and wrote in and no...

My 2019 Jeep completely lost ALL power while driving. There is a clanking sound that no one can locate. There is a change in the way the care is driving as far as power and engine sounds louder than usual. On 9.8.25 my sev 4WD indicator light appeared. I have seen the recalls for ALL these issues I am having but, My VIN # is showing that my care is NOT on the recall list. WHY??? I have had every single problem on the list related to this recall.

My PTU is failing. My 4 wheel drive no longer works. I have been waiting for a remedy for this recall for months.

My car is doing exactly what the newest recall is for the PTU... I lost power while driving, I couldn't put the car in park. I bought a new car the following day and it's been sitting in my driveway ever since.

#11680642 | Fire
On [XXX] my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ) unexpectedly caught fire while [parked/operating — choose one], originating from what appears to be an internal electrical or wiring defect. No modifications, aftermarket parts, or repairs had been made to the engine or wiring since purchase, meaning the defect originated from the manufacturer. The fire caused significant damage to the wiring, requiring professional repair, and left me severely traumatized. Although the vehicle was repaired, the incident could have easily caused me serious injury or death. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2019 Jeep with 59051 miles on it. Upon starting the car, the idle was low and the engine ran rough. While driving, it would stall when stopping. After several tries it would start but not stay running while idling. The jeep dealership stated the plugs were fouled, ($400), then when that did not fix it the fuel pump was bad ($4000), when that did not fix it they stated the bad fuel pump and plugs caused the engine to lose compression and it now needs a complete motor ($11,500). This car's 60K/5year warranty expired by 4 months. Turns out this problem is happening with lots and lots of jeeps. Stalling on the road while driving is not acceptable and very unsafe! Jeep needs to find the problem and recall it.

The 4wd has a warning light that says 4wd not available. I had my mechanic run the code C14A7-97 and it stated PTU Motor - Component or System Operation Obstructed or Blocked - Active, Pending, Stored. I looked it up and there is an issue with this with the code C01 stating this is an issue but my vehicle says there are no recalls on my vin. I have all the symptoms listed in the report saying it is a recall. I live in Montana I need 4wd

Hello, I own a 2019 Jeep Cherokee and recently noticed that the "4WD Service" light has come on. After having it inspected, I was informed that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is failing. I understand this is a known issue with certain Jeep models and may be covered under a recall or extended warranty. I would like to know if my vehicle qualifies for any related coverage. Please let me know what information you need from me to determine eligibility. Thank you. My VIN Number is [XXX] . The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The engine was not connected to the 4WD. The Police assisted with pushing the vehicle to the side of the road. While in a parking lot, the vehicle stalled. While at a stop and accelerating, the vehicle stalled. The 4WD warning light was illuminated after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the PTU, engine intake gasket, and actuator needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that there was no recall coverage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Vehicle started jerking while accelerating. Acceleration was also extremely slow, especially at lower speeds. Vehicle was also shaking at one point when reaching about 50 mph, but had just driven at over 60mph without shaking. Oil level is good. All temperatures are normal.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving on the highway at 50-60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. While driving 20 MPH in a subdivision and approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after several attempts. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer confirmed there was no recall coverage on the VIN for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 48,829.

The automatic start/stop feature says there's a problem. One time it started doing weird electrical things and completely shut off while driving. Had to turn it of and wait a minute then restart it. Things seem to be going haywire
#11662887 |
While idling, especially at red lights or in park, my 2019 Jeep Cherokee vibrates noticeably. This happens almost daily, and the vibrations are felt throughout the cabin, particularly through the steering wheel and seat, and has caused my phone to fall off its mount while driving. The issue has been consistent and now appears to interfere with the Auto Start-Stop feature. On several occasions, the vehicle has struggled to restart after the engine auto-shuts off at a traffic light, raising concerns about reliability and safety. I brought the vehicle to a Jeep dealer, and I was told that because this is not a recall issue, there is nothing they can do. No warning lights or diagnostic codes were found. However, the problem persists and affects the vehicle’s comfort and function. It also poses a potential safety risk due to distraction and instability at idle. The vehicle has not been inspected...

While driving down the interstate, my wife’s car just died in the middle of the highway, no life or lights of any kind. Luckily we got it started again and made it home. Second time it happened, the car shut off on the highway and would not restart. Had to have it towed home, tried taking it to our local Dodge dealership and they said since there’s no”active codes” they couldn’t do anything and sent us on our way. The car has a mind of its own and shuts off and or starts up whenever it wants. The care had a few codes when sent to dealership, service throttle control, lost function in fuel pedal, check engine light was on, start/stop needs serviced, and now the key fobs aren’t working, the car won’t start, acts like the battery is dead when we just had a brand new battery put in....

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who observed a misfire in cylinder two, and 90% compression in all other cylinders, resulting in damages to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective alternator. The contact disputed the mechanics findings and contested that the vehicle would not restart if the defect was related to the alternator. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective oil sensor. The mechanic replaced the oil sensor and the battery; however, the failure returned soon after the repair. The contact then stated that several warning lights and messages appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was then towed to another independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic suggested that the failure might be related to the electrical panel but was not certain that was the...

At 48,000 to 49,000 my vehicle started experiencing PTU issues and Auto start/stop feature issues. My PTU unit started grinding and making loud noises while driving. I contacted my local Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership and they said my PTU and the sensor for the PTU was going out and needed to be replaced. I couldn’t drive my car for over 2 weeks because it was in the shop. It costs me over $5000 to get it replaced. My warranty couldn’t cover it and it says I don’t have any recalls. But other similar vehicles have the same issue and give a recall. After more research on the PTU issue, I noticed that 2013-2017 had the same recalls. Now my 2019 is being included with the FCA # 01C and the NHTSA Campaign # 25V011000. I believe my vehicle should be part of this safety issue and I should be reimbursed for this...

Vehicle turned off on highway while in drive. Would not start again after this happened and was only five years old. This created a significant safety risk of the veg I leg stopping on the highway. Due to this insurance would not cover, and vehicle was returned to bank. Was assessed at a dealership stating potentially could be repaired costing more than the value of vehicle. We became aware of a pending recall of the following issue that describes what occurred. “The power transfer unit (PTU) may become damaged and disengage the transmission and differential, resulting in a loss of drive power and/or loss of park function.”

In the past two weeks, my car has stalled three times, all occurring approximately 5-10 minutes after starting my drive. Everything works fine until I apply the brakes, at which point the car immediately stalls while in traffic. Fortunately, each time, I was able to turn on my hazard lights, pull over to the side of the road, and restart the car—though it took some effort. Each incident also happened when my automatic start-stop system was turned off. These stalling incidents seem similar to a recall issue from 2020, where a computer system update was required. However, in 2020, I was unable to restart the car without a jump after it stalled. There have been no warning lights on the dashboard, and the car has not yet been independently reviewed by a dealer.

I was driving approximately 30 mph on an exit ramp and as I pressed the gas to accelerate when I got below speed, the drive power completely ceased, started making a noise that I have never heard, almost like a baseball card in a bicycle wheel. The screen flashed a 4WD alert, and then shut off / went completely black. I could not accelerate, I could not turn the wheel at all as it locked up, and once the car finally stopped, I had to keep the break pressed because it would not shift into park. it wouldn't move forward but i was afraid if i let my foot off, it would randomly start again. A truck behind me nearly crashed into the back of my car which would have killed me. I quickly had to pull off to the right in the shoulder as my car came to a...

The vehicle is shutting down while driving. Full power down. I have replaced the battery and taken it to Jeep. They have reset and ran multiple diagnostics. The car shows nothing wrong. Each time I call MOPAR about the PTU recall which is causing from 2017-2019 Jeeps to shutdown they say my VIN isn’t listed so they are unable to cover it under the recall. My car is doing exactly what the recall is describing.
