My svc 4wd light came on in November of 2024. Took it to the dealer same month, they said my ptu failed and they couldn't do anything for it bc the parts were jot available. They weren't available on back order even. I paid for $130 dollars just to be told that they couldn't do anything. While at the dealer after they told me this news I went and talked to a salesmen, they told me they couldn't take the jeep in on trade bc they don't know when they could get the part so they would loose money with it sitting. Recall came out on this in January 2025 and it now is February of 2026..I'm still waiting. The car is unstable and is basically worthless and a death trap in rain and is worse in snow. I got offered a rental out of my own pocket. I'm still...
Bought car, got 4WD not available light on dash, got car "scanned" at multiple outlets and there is no "code". Took to local mechanic and he diagnosed it is the PTU (power transfer unit) and told me there was a factory recall. Contacted Jeep dealership, told them of the problem, they said my vehicle is not included in the warranty but they would diagnose for me. They did and told me it will be $3,000 to fix, but that is "if" they can get the part. Told me they located the part at 2 other dealerships, but those locations won't sell the part to them. They said they are trying to get the part, but it is on back order. When I called to check they said they still haven't been able to get the part, but won't give me any concrete information about when they can fix it.
Upon driving car about a month after purchase the transmission hesitated, with jerking and a Loud hard clunk sound. Took vehicle to dealer and dealership stated none of the mentioned malfunctions noticed. They updated some software. Continued driving vehicle and malfunctions started again. Looked online for similar issues and found quite a few similar comments.
found rear axle assembly has locked up, terrible binding noise when trying to move. found rear axle to be low on fluid and burnt up. needs new rear axle assembly.... remove and replace rear axle assembly NOTE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY IS ON BACK ORDER SINCE 8/2025. Unable to drive or get repaired. Making car payments without the ability to use. This vehicle has a "special gear ratio" that is not available. Due to the back order, price of replacement part continues to rise due to the lack of availability and demand. There has been no confirmation on when this part will be available.
I previously reported a safety issue with my vehicle and have not received a response. My complaint number is 11709360. Issue still remains and no recall is associated to my vin number yet, even after locating a recall for my vehicle make, model and year when researching on line.
Newnan Peachtree Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram: The dealership initially identified the recall-related failure but subsequently "deleted operations" from my service record. They replaced these with different labor codes and "tag numbers" to misclassify the repair. By deleting the recall codes, the dealer successfully billed my third-party extended warranty for a transmission replacement. This allowed the dealer to collect a higher labor rate while unnecessarily depleting my private warranty’s limit of liability. The dealer failed to address the root cause (the Power Transfer Unit/PTU). My vehicle was returned to me still exhibiting grinding noises, which is a known precursor to sudden power loss on the highway. During the unauthorized warranty work and a concurrent oil change, the engine oil cooler was damaged. Furthermore, the dealership failed to perform a mandatory cooling line flush, causing metallic debris to contaminate new components.
I have a diagnosed PTU failure in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk it has 55k on the vehicle. The vehicle is not safe to drive in the michigan winter, and i have contacted my jeep dealer who said there is nothing they could do.
PTU failure. Causing vehicle to roll when placed in park. Service 4WD indicator light. Many other 2019 Cherokee models are part of a major recall. This one should be included.
I was driving down the interstate in the mountainous region of Montana. While coming down the hill, I lost all power in my vehicle. My car continued to slow down, unable to accelerate. I had multiple warnings/things flash across my screen that identified that I no longer had access to them. After about 30 minute or more of driving slower and slower, able to initially go 30 mph, then it continued to decrease. I was maybe to go 10 mph up a hill to try to get to the next town. I inched my way to the dealership to drop my car off. I know there is a recall on my vehicle for something related to power however in the past year, every time I take it to dealer, they say there is nothing available to fix it. I now have no vehicle and I could have easily been hit...
My 2019 Jeep was serviced for a 4x4 system warning light on the dashboard. At the dealership they explained my vehicle is experiencing an issue with the Transfer Case, power transfer unit. After this recommendation, I took this vehicle to another reputable mechanic who found the same issue, but then advised me this vehicle has a recall for this (PTU) power transfer unit issue. Upon reviewing the vin with another dealer they state no recall has been issued for this vehicle. I was told some of these vehicles may have been built with an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the two speed power transfer unit. Furthermore, the input shaft snap ring that is not fully seated may allow uncontrolled movement of the input shaft inward. Uncontrolled movement leads to the potential for wear to the range shift sleeve, spline damage, and/or range fork damage which can cause an...
Safety issue involving loss of power and braking Prior to receiving a PTU recall notice in January 2025, my vehicle began experiencing sudden and unexpected loss of power while driving, particularly when braking. Since that time, the issue has worsened significantly and now occurs more frequently. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to accelerate properly after braking, creating dangerous situations in traffic. In at least one incident, there was a loss of braking power that nearly caused me to run a red light. Several of these incidents were near-accidents and occurred without warning. I have brought the vehicle to my local Jeep dealership three separate times and fully explained the loss of power and braking concerns. Each time, I was told that all issues are “directly related to the PTU recall,” that there is currently “no solution,” and that “nothing can be done.” The vehicle was returned to me...
Started financing this vehicle 11/8/25- driving on the interstate on 11/27/25 I started hearing thumping noises coming from my vehicle, I thought it was the road so I turned my radio and everything off and listened and it continued so I pulled over. I put the vehicle in park, walked around my vehicle to check for flat tires and to see if I possibly ran over something and there was nothing. I put it in reverse and it pulled itself back a little.. I put it back in park and checked around the vehicle again. I got back in the vehicle and put it back in drive and it wouldn't budge. I sat on the side of the road for over 6 hrs, 2 hrs away from home. My dealership didn't put in any of my information or transfer for the vehicle at the time it was suppose to be...
Vehicle has been having driving issues such as noises and loss of power while driving. Recall for power control module, have been told they can’t give a loaner and they don’t have parts since the recall was issued (01/16/2025) was in the shop while that recall was going on (8 months actually because they couldn’t get parts) because it caused my differentials to lock up, they replaced them but vehicle has still had problems since then and was told there was nothing to be done. Warning signals come on and off when vehicle loses power, all dashboard lights cut on and off and it makes noise when shifting gears or accelerating. I have been terrified to drive it for months because it has just been getting worse and I am currently pregnant and don’t want to put my child at risk if it were to cause a wreck because I...
I'm pretty sure it's the ptu . I was driving up a hilly road and my jeep had no power all of a sudden. Then the service 4wheel drive light came on in the cluster,/ dash. Then when I stopped the tires would not quit spinning. But I could tell only one at a time was rolling. But it would switch to a different tire .each time it switched it would almost catapult me of to the side or towards the middle of the road..I finally just shut the engine off . Because it seemed as though it had a mind of its own ...thank God the plow truck came up this road I was on . Because I was afraid to start it again due to the fact I did not want to go off in a trench . I had no traction when the wheels kept kicking in...
Two speed power transfer unit failure. It's been since July 1, 2025 y car has been unable to drive. The PTU unit went out on the highway going 65 MPH and immediately lost control of having power to the gas pedal and had to pull over quickly on the highway. They still have not developed the remedy, and are withholding money from rental reimbursement.
There was a recall issued for the PTU on my vehicle that is a safety concern. I have went to the dealership where purchased and no parts or remedy available. At one point the dealership considered trading the vehicle. Then changed their mind and offered two financed vehicles for me to make payment and not wanting the vehicle. Then changed their vehicle jolts at times along with slowing and almost shutting down One experience with both of these issues. The display screen shuts off and on randomly. The vehicle was recently put in 4 wheel drive in weather conditions and shortly after use an oil leak started. The recall has yet to be satisfied with correction and safety. I’m paying constant repairs and rental expenses during these times. Yet the manufacturer is offering reimbursement for outside repairs with outside dealership service mechanics. How are they able to make repairs with...
Power Transfer Unit is showing error codes as my Service 4WD has been activated for warning light. Research shows many Jeep Cherokees from 2014-2019 were recalled for same issue. My Jeep Cherokee was not and now I have the PTU issue. My vehicle is 4WD and it cannot be used, long term effects can cause problems for my vehicle.
4 wheel drive system failure and dashboard warning light has been on since late 2024! Took it to a Jeep dealer. They specified a problem with the PTU upon inspection. The part was unavailable for repair. Through the Mopar website, my Jeep has been recalled for this problem since Jan 2025. There is still no fix as of 12/3/25!!!! I phoned dealer to see if it could be repaired as per the recall... they tell me they cannot help me and to call Chrysler. Ridiculous. Please advise!! I do not want to experience further damage to my car and unexpected motor loss as the recall states... and I want my 4WD working again as it greatly helps with car control in wet situations and I often travel through mountains (snow). Thank you for your time and assistance.
Approximately two weeks before the major symptom appeared, the “Service 4WD” warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle’s performance didn’t seem to be noticeably affected, so I checked for any active recalls or service bulletins but found none that applied to my VIN. I monitored the situation closely in case it was an electrical or sensor-related issue. Shortly after, a loud clunking noise began coming from the drivetrain area, most noticeable during acceleration and deceleration. After arriving home, I immediately stopped driving the vehicle due to serious safety concerns and contacted my mechanic. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the transfer case (Power Transfer Unit) had failed and required replacement. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem in 2019 Jeep Cherokees. After researching, I found many other reports of similar failures, all traced to transfer-case defects. However, my VIN is not currently included in...
I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep Recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! My SRC 4WD light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4WD as it says it must be serviced first. This ONLY STATED about 10 days ago. I have an appointment with a dealer this coming Wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my SRV 4WD light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (NOW I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay $187 for a scan!! WHAT?!? Now that I know the story I will NOT do that! I...
This car has had the recall for quite sometime and the dealership refuses to help because there hasn’t been a fix yet with this recall. It has powered off or simply stop working in the middle of the road multiple times. Today on the most dangerous highway in Colorado Springs in the snow it turn off and all the messages relating to the recall turned on. It was the scariest moment of my life
I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I recently learned that a specific part on the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was recalled due to a known defect (Oil Pump Recall (Recall T65 / NHTSA 17V-670). My 2019 Cherokee is now experiencing the exact same issue that was identified in the recall for the previous model year. Because the problem appears to be identical to the 2018 recall condition, I believe this may indicate a continuing safety defect affecting additional model years that were not included in the original recall campaign. I am requesting: 1.A formal review and investigation into whether the recalled part on the 2018 model also affects the 2019 Cherokee. 2.A FULL refund to what I paid to have this repaired. And yes a receipt can be provided. 3.Written confirmation of the steps you will take to address this matter. This issue is...
While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the vehicle's start/stop system malfunctioned and caused the engine to completely shut off at a traffic light. I had my hazard lights on, and while stopped safely another driver rear ended my vehicle. The Jeep has had repeated issues with stalling and engine shut-off since I purchased it. This is a serious safety concern and could have caused greater injury. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 3 times for the same issues once back in 01/25/2023, when the vehicle was still under warranty a part was ordered and replaced, but the same issues kept recurring. When I brought the vehicle back in in 2024 I was told because my warranty had expired I would have to pay out of pocket to repair the issue.
Power Transfer Unit (PTU), The Service 4WD light keeps coming on and off. 2019 Jeep Cherokee
Last week my 4wd service light came on. I took it to get diagnosed and was advised my ptu was faulty and needed to be replaced. There are recalls out for a faulty ptu but my vin was not included.
Have had multiple issues where stop/stop fails while at a stop in the street and either doesn’t start again or starts after a while. Last time on 10/29/2025 I was at a stop just getting off I-10 and the car would not start and gave start stop error and took multiple minutes before starting again. This first began 5/2024. Dealership has replace the battery, starter relay, and the start twice. It is a huge safety concern for me being stuck in the middle of the street or at a stop
I was getting off the highway and my car stopped on me. I put my emergency lights on. I put the car on park and tried turning it on. The brake was hard to push down. I gave it a few minutes to rest and I tried 2 more times. The second time it turned on but imediately turned back off. I let it rest a minute or so and it finally turned on. I was scared for my life because there all on coming traffic coming off the interstate. I did call the police for help but as soon as I got it started I called back for them not to come. I also got a warning saying engine warming. 6:30 am 10-30-25
While im driving my car completley shuts down with no notice or anything. I have to restart the whole vehicle for it to start running again. This happened to me while i was on the high way slowing down and on the street slowing down to turn. I almost got into 2 car accidents this morning because of this. Not sure whats going on but my dashboard completely goes blank and flashes when this happened. This occured on 10/29/2025 at 6;45-6;50 am.
The 4WD service light keeps coming on and off in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus. The obd2 code c1494-92 displays. This is directly related to a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) issue. There was a recall issued in January of 2025 (recall 01C). However, I am being told that my VIN is not covered under this recall. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep) and there were not able to give me a reason why the 01C recall does not cover my vehicle. The NHTSA referred me to the manufacturer. But I keep getting the runaround and nobody is providing me a clear answer on this issue.
My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus is currently inoperable due to a failed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The local authorized Jeep dealership confirmed that the PTU has failed and that the replacement part is no longer being manufactured or available anywhere in the U.S. This is a well known defect for this type of vehicle. The dealership informed me that there is no repair option at this time and that there is no timeline for when my vehicle may eventually be added to the recall batch list. Stellantis Customer Care has acknowledged the problem but denied my request for a buyback, citing vehicle mileage and age, even though the defect renders the car unsafe and undrivable. The PTU failure can cause a sudden and total loss of power to the wheels while driving, which poses a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road. Before the complete...
Driving from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, then To DC, then VA, power steering service show up and caused my jeep hard to turning. Completely unexpected. I just got them 2 month ago.
I have already received the official recall notice, but I have been told by both my local mechanic and FCA representatives that there is still no remedy available. In the meantime, my vehicle is exhibiting exactly the defect described in the recall and is now unsafe to drive. Here is my experience: In early 2024, while running errands, I stopped at a red light before making a left turn. When the light turned green, the car would not move forward. I had to turn on my blinkers while other drivers were honking. I panicked, tried turning the car off and on, and eventually it moved again. This same issue has happened four other times since then. Most recently, on 8/22/25 the car left me stranded in a grocery store parking lot. It was full of groceries, making multiple alert sounds, and would not start. My cousin had to leave what...
This Jeep suddenly started smoking while driving. Driver immediately pulled over and noticed oil all over on ground. Towed to mechanic and the transfer case has a large crack and the rear differential is bad. Repairs exceeding $4000. Also, on a regular basis the car loses power while driving. Driver has to pull over and restart car. This has not been fixed yet. Not sure what it is. Both issues are known issues for Jeep Cherokees and also this year Jeep. Yet there is no recall for this VIN number. The costs for fixing this and the dangers are unacceptable. Scared about the power loss and not sure what my mechanic will find. This car should be included in the recalls for both issues. I am super disappointed in Jeep. I filed a report with Jeep cares and will also be contacting the attorney general and a consumer attorney. These...
The PTU power train unit is bad in this jeep and has been for awhile. I seen in Jan 2025 a recall for this for some jeeps and my jeep should be on there it’s been on back order to get fixed and still nothing. Also the rear end differential has been fixed 3 times for it being broken in 4 years
Am concerned about theses vehicles even being on the roadways with no resolution to the safety recall being resolved. Reported in Jan 2025, no resolution yet. for 8 months? "Parts are not available". It appears by documentation that if you are in the states you can get a dealer to check via software to detect and monitor for excessive wear within a PTU. If PTU failure is confirmed by software, FCA US will replace the PTU for all impacted customers experiencing messaging related to the defect to replace the PTU. Warranty extension terms and unlimited years/unlimited mileage. Why can we not check the vehicle out at a Canadian Dealer to confirm what we are potentially driving down our busy highways?
Delamination of the console screen. Due to this delamination the vehicle has "ghost" called s.o.s. (911) and other people multiple times. it frequently changes radio stations (not a big deal) While driving on the highway has put the rear view camera on screen randomly. which has been a very scary distraction. It has also changed from a/c to heat (also not a big deal) The biggest safety issues are the dialing of 911 and the rear view camera turning on. This will happen even if I turn off the screen completely. I have brought this by a dealer. they say it is a common issue. I have also brought it by a private auto mechanic. They also say it is common, but that its not usually as bad. I first noticed the delamination when I purchased the vehicle at a dealer, I thought it was just the screen protector lifting....
The car shut off again in the middle of the road, this really needs to be addressed.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? UNKNOWN; believe it may be something with the suspension or possibly the transmission. Their is a chirping sound when making a low speed (15 MPH or so) turn more prominent when making turn up a hill. Sounds can also sometimes be replicated when letting off the accelerator and getting back on it again which is why I believe may be a transmission issue. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? UNKNOWN Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It has not yet been reported. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? I...
I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, on August 6th around 545AM, while on Highway 70E In Maryland, my Transfer Case completely seperated itself (Per Repair Shop). I immediately pulled over, there was lots of smoke. Roadside Assistance towed my Vehicle to repair shop. Repair Shop and Jeep Dealership have told me that the Transfer Case won't be in for approximately 2 Months, due to the Large Quantity on Order for the 2019 Jeep Recall, however my VIN was not on this Recall and clearly this is a known issue. Since this is a known issue, and so many being on Order, why is my VIN not apart of the recall and since it just completely separated causing a huge sudden safety issue, what needs to be done to add this to the Recall?
I am writing to express my deep frustration and concern regarding the unresolved recall on my Jeep vehicle, which has rendered it unsafe and undrivable. Despite my repeated efforts, I have received no meaningful support or communication from Stellantis. Here are the details: Recall Status: The vehicle is subject to an open recall (issued in January 2025), for which a remedy is still unavailable. Dealership Diagnosis: On or around July 15, 2025, I took my vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership due to warning messages and irregular driving behavior. The dealership confirmed the vehicle is exhibiting symptoms directly associated with the recall and advised me to park the vehicle immediately for safety reasons. Stellantis Communication Breakdown: I contacted Stellantis on July 15, 2025, and was informed a case manager would reach out. As of today, I have received no follow-up communication. When I attempt to call, I am either disconnected...
The PTU needs to be replaced at 83,000 miles. A message appeared on the dashboard and a diagnostic by a dealership confirmed it is the PTU.
I was driving one day and stopped at a stop light. I go to accelerate as the light changes, the vehicle moves forward a little then stops moving. The battery stayed on but it would no longer move or rev. So I was left stranded in the middle of the stop light. Thankfully a cop came by and helped me push to a safer spot. I then had to have the vehicle towed to the nearest pepBoys. After their initial inspection they were thinking it was a transmission issue but they do not work on them there so I then had to get it towed again to my house until I could figure out what I should do. After my own investigation then later confirming with the jeep dealership, we’ve determined the symptoms are related to the defective part. I’ve called several times to the manufacturer and recall team and...
Car shuts off, once while in the middle of a turn almost went off road and couldn’t use brake or turn wheel. There were three other times it shut off at red lights and I have to put car in park and press the start button. Two of those times car had just started with oil light, was told that it is linked to the oil and to always keep it full until recall is issued. However yesterday on my way to work with full oil it shut off again. I then did my regular way to fix it and kept driving to work, out of nowhere my car starts only being able to drive up to 29 miles per hour I’m just about to get on the highway so I pull over and have to shut off again fixing the problem. This seems incredibly dangerous due to it also...
PTU unit having same issues as other jeeps with recalls.
My 2019 Jeep Cherokee 2.4L engine is consuming an excess amount of oil. I took it to the dealership and the only solution I was given was to replace my entire engine. I looked up recalls for this, there are none. Never received anything from JEEP like other people online have regarding excess oil consumption. I have to now get oil changes every 1,500 miles… The oil light doesn’t come on, instead, every time I go to make a turn. The car turns off while driving or stalls. Very dangerous
Component: Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Jeep has issued a recall for the same year and model as my 2019 Cherokee, but my VIN is not included in the recall. However, the power transfer unit is failing as verified by the Jeep dealership. This appears to be a manufacturing defect identical to those listed under the recall. The warning that lead me to take it to the shop said 4WD not available service required. I would like my vehicle to be added to the recall list for this issue. NHTSA campaign number: 25V011. Jeep’s own number for this recall is 01C.
The service 4WD light came on [XXX]. We discovered that there is a current PTU recall along with numerous other problems that are potential for recall. We spoke to the dealer (not able to help us) who referred us to the manufacturer. We spoke with Paul of US Customer care who told us to file this complaint. They do not recommend driving the car for safety reasons. There have been vehicles repaired but the repairs do no last. We have not been offered repair. We are on social security and can't afford a rental for reimbursement. We called all Dealers in out area. Their loaners are all taken and they all have waiting lists for loaners. We are left with no transportation. We can't afford another car - this one is paid for. Also, we were not notified of the recall within 60 days. We have been having problems with...
Ptu
There is still no remedy for current recall on my jeep. This is my only vehicle and I have a young child. How am I supposed to feel safe driving to even just the grocery store for basic needs when there is an ongoing safety recall. I'm just at a loss of what to do.
The 4WD light came in November 2024. When taken to the dealer I was told it was probably the power transfer unit as they have been replacing a lot of them. And upon inspection it was the PTU. This problem was verified as being common and a recall issued shortly after my vehicle got a new PTU. My VIN is not under the recall and I am being told there is nothing they can do. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my vehicle has the same defect the others have and I think they need to look broader at the vehicles included in the recall. In May 2025 (just 6 months later), the rear differential went out with no warning or lights at all. There was a noise and by the time we got it to repair shop they said they don’t know how we even got it there...
