MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL GO INTO NEUTRAL WHILST DRIVING AND THEN TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE SHIFTER, THEN WILL NOT DRIVE SAYS TO SHIFT TO PARK THEN PUT INTO GEAR. I DO THE FOLLOWING AND STILL WON'T TRY. HAVE TRIED SHUTTING IT OFF TURNING IT BACK ON AND NOTHING WORKS.
CONTINUALLY RECEIVING A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ERROR MESSAGE AND ALL GEAR LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP (PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL DRIVE). HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND REQUIRES THAT YOU STOP AND RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO AWAY. JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS. AT FIRST WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. THEN THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE SHIFTER. TODAY THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. HAVE READ ABOUT MANY OTHER CASES ONLINE FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS.
APPROX. 4:45PM WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS 117, I WAS PARKED, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, WAITING TO PICK UP MY DOG AT THE VET. I HAD JUST DRIVEN 15 MILES TO THIS LOCATION = 25 MINUTES. WAITED OVER 20 MINUTES FOR DOG TO BE BROUGHT TO CAR. WHEN READY TO LEAVE, CAR WOULD NOT START, ALL SERVICE/DASH LIGHTS COME ON. (HAD AIR, RADIO, LIGHTS} WAITED OVER 40 MINUTES AND FINALLY CAR STARTED. DROVE DIRECTLY HOME, AGAIN THE 15 MILES IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES, BACKED INTO DRIVEWAY, PUT CAR IN PARK (DID NOT TURN ENGINE OFF), TOOK DOG INSIDE. WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE TO PUT CAR IN GARAGE, CAR STALLED OUT. THIS WAS TWICE IN ONE DAY!! THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS ON VERY HOT DAYS. WHY NO RESEARCH/RECALL ON THIS STALLING OUT ISSUE??
UPON SLOWING DOWN AROUND 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTS TO ACCELERATE REQUIRING A HARDER PRESS ON THE BRAKE. IF I LET OFF THE GAS AROUND 40 MPH THE VEHICLE MAINTAINS SPEED BEFORE IT STARTS TO ACCELERATE. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE WILL JOLT AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON PUTTING IT IN A LIMP MODE WITH LITTLE FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. THE DEALER SAID ITS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE BUT THE FACTORY WOULDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE DEALER COULDN'T PROVE IT WAS BAD. AT THAT POINT THE 2015 KL TRAILHAWK HAD AROUND 33000 34000 MILES ON IT AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
AUTO SHUT DOWN WHILE IN LEFT TURN LANE, WAITING FOR LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. AUTO SEEMS TO STALL OUT AFTER IDLING (IE: AFTER LEAVING DRIVE THRU, TRAFFIC LIGHT). WILL NOT RESTART, ALL DASH INDICATORS COME ON. AIR, RADIO, WINDOWS STILL FUNCTIONING. HAD HELP PUSHING CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. 55 MINUTES LATER IN 117 DEGREES AUTO STARTED. NEXT MORNING AUTO WOULD NOT START, ALL DASH INDICATORS COME ON AGAIN. HAD USE THE KEY FOB TRICK TO START. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN 2019 AS WELL FIRST TIME, MAY 1, 2019, TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, LEFT THERE FOR 2 DAYS, NOTHING FOUND.
SERVICE SHIFTER CONTINUES TO COME ON
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH DASH LIGHTS START BLINKING ON THEN OFF SEVERAL TIMES. AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY! I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED ENGINE. THEN AS I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE AUTO START /STOP WAS DISENGAGED AS I RESTARTED THE AUTO START STOP LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE STARTED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. AS I DROVE THE DASH LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH ON AND OFF, NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT? THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO BOTH MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORISTS, AS TO THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AT WILL WITH OUT NOTICE OR WARNING OF ANY TYPE. WHEN DRIVING, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFTER (P,R,N,D,1,2) COME ON. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF TO CLEAR THE ISSUE. YOU ALSO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CONCERN THAT THE SHIFTER WON'T WORK WHEN YOU TRY TO SWITCH MODES. *TR
CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A STOP START FEATURE TO CONSERVE FUEL USAGE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND HELD AT A STOPLIGHT THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING AS IT SHOULD. THE PROBLEM IS THE STOP START FEATURE NO LONGER FUNCTIONS AS DESIGNED. THIS FEATURE HAS FAILED IN THE PAST AND REPAIRED MARCH 2018. REFERENCE THE COMPLAINT LISTED BELOW ( NHTSA ID 11270672 ) ON OCTOBER 24, 2019. I HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE/PROBLEM CONCERNING THE GAS/FUEL CAP SENSOR SINCE NOVEMBER 2016. MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS OF HAVING IT FIXED AT LOCAL CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP WITH ZERO SUCCESS. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE FROM THE REFERENCED COMPLAINT BELOW IS THAT I HAVE NOT HAD A VAPOR TEST NOR HAVE I REPLACED MY GAS CAP BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT; VERBATIM : 'THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT CAN NOT BE FIXED.' IN ADDITION; THE FUEL/GAS CAP ISSUE IS ONLY ONE OF SEVERAL ISSUES THAT I'VE ENCOUNTERED ALL WITH THE SAME RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP ' 'IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT WE CAN'T FIX IT'. THERE WAS A RECALL A FEW YEARS BACK FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES, I TOOK IT IN TO GET FIXED AND IT WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS THEN AFTER THAT IT WORKS ON AND OFF. I NOTICED WHEN IT GETS HOTTER THAN 80 DEGREES THE A/C WILL NOT ALWAYS TURN ON. I AM NOT SURE IF MY CAR WAS FIXED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME.

PREVIOUSLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PERFORMANCE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM GEORGESVILLE, 1130 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRDM BASIL IN HARNESS AND THE SHIFTIER HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
SINCE 2015 WHEN THE JEEP WAS PURCHASED I HAVE HAD SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE RPMS WOULD GO UP TO 3 OR 4 AND I WAS NOT ACCELERATING THE GAS WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT ACTED LIKE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS . THE JEEP DEALER COULD NOT FINE ANYTHING WRONG AND WOULD UPDATE THE COMPUTER, IT WOULD LAST FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND THEN THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN. ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8TH 2020 I PARKED THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND RETURNED 3 HOURS LATER TO A CAR THAT WOULD NOT START , LIGHTS WOULD WORK AND THE BATTERY APPEARED DEAD. I GOT A HOTSHOT TO TRY TO START THE CAR. IT DID START BUT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING , NO POWER BRAKES, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND THE LIGHTS WERE CLICKING OFF AND ON. THE CODE STATED SERVICE TRANSMISSION RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE AT ZERO SPEED. AND WOULD CHANGE...

LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP, SHIFT TO PARK, AND RESTART THE ENGINE... IT PROCEEDED TO HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES, NO MATTER HOW FAST I WAS DRIVING.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE KEEPS POP UP RANDOMLY. IT STARTED AT AROUND 70,000 MILES. ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY. THERE SEEM TO BE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEE. IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL?
DRIVING ALONG, "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE NEXT RED LIGHT, WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO, ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR MOVED EXTREMELY SLOW LIKE IT WASN'T IN GEAR. THIS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I STOPPED AND STARTED ON THE RETURN HOME AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. I DROVE IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN. HAD IT SERVICED AT DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SHORT IN WIRING HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. SEE CODE S55 PERTAINING TO TRANSMISSION MAY SHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY TO NEUTRAL. 2014 & 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE DATED AUG. 6, 2106.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE NOVEMBER 2018 AND HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED AS OF DECEMBER 2019 MY VEHICLE WOULD STALL, SHIFT, AND CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING WHICH VERY DANGEROUS NOT ONLY TO MYSELF, KIDS, AND OTHERS AROUND ME IN TRAFFIC.
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MY LOW BEAMS 10+ TIMES THIS YEAR. THEY KEEP SHORTING OUR. ALSO HAVE TO HAVE MY ENGINE THERMOSTAT REPLACED EVEN THOUGH IT'S WORKING FINE. COMPUTER KEEPS RESETTING. THESE THINGS USUALLY OCCUR AFTER STARTING AND PULLING AWAY. YOU NEED TO STOP AND RESTART THE JEEP. THESE THINGS HAVE ALSO OCCURRED AT 65MPH. THIS HAS STEADILY BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
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
SINCE PURCHASING 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE IT HAS BEEN MORE AT THE DEALERS THAN MY HOME. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE, PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION, SENSORS, AND RADIO ETC. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES FOR SUBSTANTIAL DEFECTS AND IT CONTINUES TO DO SO. THIS FALLS UNDER THE LEMON LAW. IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT I AM SEEKING AN ATTORNEY, IF MY WARRANTY IS NOT EXTENDED AND THIS IS NOT FIX AT NO CHARGE TO ME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,118.

SERVICE SHIFTER WARNINGS ON & COMPUTER SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING, BEEN HAPPENING OFF & ON SINCE I BOUGHT IN JANUARY 2015 NOW WONT STOP AND CANT GET SERVICE UNTIL OCTOBER 10TH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. TWO DAYS AFTER THE FAILURE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED RED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE KEY FOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRIFFIS MOTORS, INC. (1012 HOLLAND AVE, PHILADELPHIA, MS 39350, (601) 656-4244). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THERMOSTAT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
CAR HAS BEEN STUTTER STARTING. ONCE IT FINALLY STARTS I GET AN ERROR CODE THAT SAYS SERVICE PARK BREAKS SERVICE TRANSMISSION. THEN WHEN PUTTING JEEP INTO GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT HARD AND YOU CAN FEEL THE CAR JERK AND HEAR A CLUNKING SOUND. AFTER FILLING MY TANK I RETURNED TO THE CAR TO START IT AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER INSERTING AND TURNING THE KEY I WOULD NOT GET A CLICK OR NOTHING. MY AUTOMATIC REAR HATCH STOPPED WORKING AFTER A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER FROM A COOLER LEAKED IN MY "TRUNK". I CHECKED THE FUSE FOR THE HATCH AND IT BLEW, I SWAPPED IT OUT AND SMOKE BEGAN TO POUR FROM THE REAR OF MY JEEP (THE TRUNK) THEN A FIRE ERUPTED, SEVERELY DAMAGING MY CHEROKEE. THE JEEP WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND DUE TO THE FIRE BEING NEAR THE GAS TANK I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO THE STREET OUT OF FEAR IT WOULD HURT MY FAMILY. THERE IS A RECALL RE: THE HATCH MOTOR MODULE GETTING WET AND CAUSING A FIRE WHICH I HAD PERFORMED IN 2016. THIS PART IS FAULTY AND ALMOST HARMED ME/FAMILY AND NOW I AM OUT MY DEDUCTIBLE AND CAR RENTAL COSTS. NO ONE FROM CHRYSLER OR JEEP WILL CALL ME BACK.
