Lost 100% of electrical power steering while driving. Almost went over a drop-off while on a cloverleaf freeway exit which would have caused significant harm or death. The steering wheel was very difficult to turn and I needed to sit up out of my seat to use leverage from my body weight. I pulled over after that and found the closest Ford dealership. I carefully drove to the dealership and waited for them to open. While waiting I researched the issue and realized this was a Safety recall and very common. Recall is 15V340000. Once they opened I went in to see how long the recall would take to fix. The dealership said the safety recall isn't valid due to they reset my ECU when the recall initially came out instead of replacing the recalled safety part. Which allowed them to terminate the recall on my car. They scheduled to...
While I was driving down the road my cars information center showed a message of 'service power steering soon'. Stopped vehicle and restarted it to be met with a new message of 'service power steering now' with a total loss of power steering. Ford dealership tech confirmed a lack of power steering and confirmed the presence of DTC P07AE which was the exact code and issue of recalls 15S18 and 15N01. Recall work was completed by prior owner but there was no replacement of steering gear at the time and only a software update done, which and the issue I had was what the recall was based on. Ford refused to pay for repair stating the recall was closed even though it was 100% the same issue as the recall as confirmed by ford technician.

Power steering went out and very hard to steer, "power steering assist fault" came on. There was no prior warning from the dashboard or the steering. I thought there was a recall on it from what I read. Dealer informed me that is a 10 year warranty and that it expired. I have read many people have this problem. NHTSA and Ford refuse to recognize it as a safety issue for it to be recalled. I guess many people have to be killed or injured before any action is taken.

When driving to a friend's house the steering wheel froze and an error message appeared on the instrument cluster. The error read "power steering assist fault." This was a known issue that required a reprogramming or replacement of steering gear. Ford is saying that I am out of warranty, which I don't understand because clearly the issue was not fixed. I thought safety recalls never expired. This issue affects me and other people on the road, my community!

I was sitting in line at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky. Due to the time waiting, I would turn my car off and restart when the line moved. After my last restart, the power steering no longer worked. I turned it off and restarted. Still no power steering. I went ahead and got the oil changed. Restarted to leave the bay area without power steering. I parked in the lot of the business and called for a wrecker service to tow my car home and had another family member pick me up. I noticed on the internet that this is not an unique problem. My car had 77,951 miles on it when the power steering went out. It happened 12/3/2021. I had the air bag recall worked done on 8/8/2022 and a diagnostic done on the power steering. They reported an internal component failure,...

The electronic traction control light would come on but then go off. Was driving home on the interstate doing about 75 when lost all power steering. There is none at all. Got home finally, and started checking into the issue. Ford did a recall in 2015 on this and if the car showed problems when brought in then the service center replaced the faulty part., If it showed no problems then they only reprogrammed the vehicle which left the original faulty part in the vehicle that was reprogrammed when it had no codes given.. which is to say that nothing was done because how can you fix an issue that the vehicle doesn't see as there? It was a way for ford to get out of having to pay and replace the issue. I feel that my life and anyone else's life that was on the road when it went...
POWER STEERING SHUTS DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION - WHILE MAKING TURNS OR EVEN SLIGHT TURNS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. ERROR MESSAGE ON DASH BOARD IS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CAR VARIES WITH THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD CONTINUES TO SEND OUT VEHICLES WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING AND HAS NOT RESOLVED THESE PROBLEMS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD.
I recently completed a car diagnostic and there were no reports of steering concerns. I was driving my son so summer camp and as I was trying to exit, my wheel locked and I had to use crazy force to get off the hwy exit and to avoid hitting the median. I had no warning lights in the car prior, but recived a message times after I would force the wheel "power steering assist failure".
Tucson, Arizona. The incident occurred on about June 10, 2022 around 10:00 a.m. The steering failed just after the car was started by the owner, the dash light "power steering assist fault"turned on and the car was nearly impossible to steer. The car was driven approximately 2 miles straight ahead and parked at home. The car was towed the next day to the AAA service center at 7060 Speedway, Tucson, AZ 85710. The owner researched recalls related to steering on the 2011 Ford Fusion; it seems NHTSA Campaign 15v340000/Ford Recall 15s18/393,623 vehicles affected by 06.23.2015. Steering complaints continue to roll in for the 2011 Ford Fusion, yet, the recall has not been extended. Steering issues appear be the same or similar to those issues covered by the previous recall. I wonder why NHTSA has not extended the recall.
Advance Trac light abs traction control light came on next thing I know car goes out of control and now my car is totaled total loss smashed right into side of the road brakes failed steering failed and all this popped up moments before and then q truck ran into me my mom went to hospital but is ok I'm fine
Was driving about 50 miles per hour and lost my power steering. Almost hit the car beside me my power steering assist fault and service advancetrac lights are on. Ford had a recall on this issue.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving and turning the steering wheel, there was an abnormal grinding noise detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
I was driving my car and the power steering failed. It was difficult to steer. Sometimes the power steering would work and sometimes it would not.
I have a 2011 Ford Fusion. There was a recall 15S18 which was a recall on the Electric Power Steering Assist. Where the vehicle may lose power steering. It claims extra effort may be required at lower speeds. It doesn't matter the speed, if this system goes out, it is extremely difficult to steer. It was replaced in my vehicle in 2015, before I owned it. Then the recall 15N01 came out, which was an extended warranty of the Electric Power Steering Assist. I purchased the vehicle and the Electric Power Steering Assist failed and was replaced in 8/2020. Now less than 2 years later the Electric Power Steering Assist has failed again and Ford refuses to warranty a part that they provided and installed. If I had purchased the part myself, it would have had a 2 year warranty. But it was provided and installed by Ford. This system...
on January 14th 2021 I brought this car in to address the power steering(15S18), airbags, and Fuel Tank and Canister Purge Valve recall (15S34). The dealer reprogrammed the PSCM at no charge, inspected the Fuel Tank and Canister Purge Valve and replaced the passenger side airbag...we did not realize the didn't do the driver side airbag at that time. The vehicle had 172k miles on it at this time. on April 25th the driver assist power steering failed so I brought the car in again on April 27th. The car now has 200k mile on it and they want to charge $3400 to replace the rack and pinion. They indicate the vehicle is reporting the u3000 error codes which are related to the 15S18 recall. Shouldn't they honor the recall since the issue is related to the recall? Also, I feel like they did not address the recall during the...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 46 MPH, the steering wheel locked while making a left turn. The contact instead turned right and the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with power steering failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000. The VIN was not available.
On several occasions, when starting the car, an alert is displayed on the instrument panel that says "Power Steering Assist Fault", and the power steering system is inoperative. After restarting the car, the message usually goes away and the power steering is fully operational. There is already a safety recall for what seems to be a similar issue. That recall campaign number is 15V340000. For some reason, this car is not yet included in the recall.
After starting the vehicle, I was pulling out of my parking space when the steering wheel locked up. It required more effort on the steering wheel to turn the wheels so I could maneuver the vehicle through the parking lot. About that same time, I noticed a message come up in the information center in the instrument cluster that read, "Check Steering System". After moving through the parking lot for a minute, the steering assist returned and the steering wheel was no longer locked up. If a car had pulled out in front of me unexpectedly (which is a common occurrence where I live) while my steering assist was out, I would not have been able to avoid the impact. I found out through research through All Data there is a RECALL on the steering gear for my vehicle. I DID NOT RECIEVE A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS...
my Steering not working
While driving down the highway, vehicles braked suddenly. While slamming on breaks the electric power steering went out resulting in a near high speed collision. At the same time as the power steering being lost, the Advancetrac light illuminated on the instrument cluster as well as a message stating "power steering assist fault". Upon returning home and searching the vin in ford website there is a "customer satisfaction program" for the electric power steering efforts. Upon contacting the local dealership service department it was stated by them that the program had expired. Ford HQ was also contacted who stated the same and that all repairs would not be covered. If Ford knows this was an issue, then customers should have been made aware of the program. Notifications should have sent out as failure to notify has left faulty cars on the road and puts millions of drivers and passengers in...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an unknown failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was unknown.
My sister in-law was driving her 2011 Fusion and when pulling into a parking spot had no power steering. She has two kids that were with her and she could not turn the steering wheel. Luckily this happened as she was parking as we thank God it did not happen 3 minutes earlier on the interstate and God only knows what would have happened. The warning message came up and said steering assist fault so we know it has an issue now. The vehicle is headed to a trusted friends shop since Ford shows no recalls for this on this car. The idea that so many people are having this same issue and Ford is doing nothing about it is alarming. Is it going to take lives being lost before Ford wakes up and takes care of a known issue?
A loss of power steering assist code. Car hard to steer. Definite safety risk. Not yet taken to dealer. Is recall 15V340000 but have not received a notice that it pertains to my vehicle.
The power steering system faulted on multiple occasions while the vehicle was in motion. This made the vehicle hard to control while driving. The dealer confirmed a fault in the power steering system. The dealer inspected the car for repairs. The first two times the power steering faulted, there was no warning light or sound. The third time it faulted there was a warning light and sound.
EPAS has gone out AGAIN! EPAS was repaired in 2016 before I bought my Ford Fusion Hybrid, was replaced in 2019 under dealer warranty, and as soon as I have a tune up and front end alignment done two days later while I’m driving EPAS goes out again. Almost $3000 is what it costs to fix this faulty part and I should not have to keep fixing it after repairs are made. Now I’m being told that it will not be fixed under CSP because it’s already been fixed by the original owner and I am not the original owner. I’m very upset and my car is just sitting there with 6K left to pay on it! I don’t have the money to fix this vehicle for a 3rd time.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 10 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with code U300 - Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) failure. The mechanic related the failure to an unknown recall and informed the contact that the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, but the dealer informed the contact that he needed to pay out-of-pocket for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000. The error code that qualifies the vehicle for this recall repair, and evidence from Ford.com saying that safety recalls do not expire.
In the middle of driving, my car popped up two alerts: "service advancetrac" and "service power steering". Nothing else occurred, and I got to my destination and turned the car off. When leaving again, I turned the car on, and the power steering didn't work. The warnings were still present. While driving, turning the steering wheel was very difficult, much more difficult than older cars with manual steering. At slow speeds, I felt it was dangerous to drive as I couldn't guarantee my ability to turn properly.
