NHTSA Complaint #11484299 — 2011 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 65 MPH, the power steering assist fault message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact's daughter pulled over as the steering wheel began to seize. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer where she was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that her vehicle was under a prior warranty and that the first part of the warranty was performed; however, she was then informed that the warranty had expired and that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
