NHTSA Complaint #11487064 — 2011 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon attempting to make a turn from a complete stop, the steering wheel became significantly difficult to turn. The TPMS warning light and the traction control warning light were illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road by using physical strength to steer the vehicle. An independent mechanic had taken steering fluid to the contact; however, he became aware that the steering system was electrical. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the failure persisted. The contact was able to drive to her residence at a slower speed. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with an unknown steering recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
