Our 2018 F-15 with 3.5 ecoboost has experienced known issues with the cam phasers, a loud rattle during startup. Ford service technicians report the problem to be from a pin coming loose on the cam phaser, resulting in the cam phaser slapping. Ford has acknowledged the issue and designed an updated cam phaser but has selectively chosen to replace the defective items only if a truck is under warranty. This said, the updated cam phasers were available after many trucks exceeded their warranty.

The vehicle is available for inspection and evaluation if needed. Also can provide all records for service and repairs over last 2 years. Transmission failure hard shifting between gears 3-5 and 8-10, downshifting while driving vehicle will slow down and downshift even when accelerating. Had evaluated at several ford dealership that stated a new transmission was only solution after several attempts for re calibration and reprogramming. Causing a safety issue when accelerating and at high speeds. Yes my safety has been put at risk multiple times. Also the risk for passengers in the vehicle as well. The problem was reproducible several times at dealerships and repair shops. And all places stated the only way to fix is with new transmission which was purchased in 2024. There were warning lights (check engine) came on and transmission was overheating with normal city driving and highway driving. Every time the light would come...

2018 f150 5.0 engine 102k miles burned 8 qts of oil in 8,000 miles, now the engine is getting rebuilt and I just bought it 8k miles ago. Also the transmission cuts power completely while shifting causing a safety concern. 10 speed transmission is in the truck, worst transmission and engine I’ve ever had out of any vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Oil consumption is excessive.
#11650218 |
2018 f150 5.0L engine. Uses excessive oil. Usually have to add 2-3 qts of oil between oil changes. Numerous times (over 20) I have stopped and vehicle would not start because oil level was too low. Happened multiple times before I knew what was causing this issue. Same vehicle transmission will shift from 4th gear to 2nd causing engine to rev high and jerk one forward. Ford knows about the oil issues with these engines. This is causing unwanted expense with having to add oil between changes, excessive engine wear, and damage to other engine components and exhaust system components.

This vehicle is using oil in a rate of about 7-8 quarts every 2000-2500 miles. When the oil dipstick is checked there is not a drop of oil on the dipstick. I have spoken with the dealership concerning this matter and the suggestion from FORD was to purchase another dipstick, which would cost my pocket book around $600. The dealership indicated that there is a service bulletin out at FORD addressing this very issue, however FORD Motor Company will not pay for the repair. There is no way a brand new vehicle should be using this much oil in that little of miles driven. I have searched the web and found hundred of vehicle owners who are describing the exact very nature that I am reporting. FORD's fix was to put thicker oil in the motor and change the oil dipstick. Can you please contact me in regards to my...

I own a 2018 Ford F-150 with 56,000 miles, and I have been experiencing serious and unpredictable transmission issues. These problems first started around 48,000 miles, but at the time, I assumed it was normal behavior. However, the issues have progressively worsened, and by 55,000 miles, a wrench warning light started appearing intermittently. Symptoms: •While driving at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly drops from 10th gear to 1st gear, causing a sudden and severe deceleration. •The gear shifts are jerky, unpredictable, and rough, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. •The wrench warning light appears occasionally but disappears quickly, making diagnosis difficult. •No diagnostic trouble codes (D DTCs) are stored or retrieved when scanned at multiple repair shops. •The issue happens intermittently, making it challenging to replicate on demand. •Started noticing issues at 48k miles, but they became significantly worse around 50k miles when the wrench light began...

This truck was supposed to be recalled under the Transmission recall for 10r80 and I noticed while conducting a decode on the vin number that the type and kind of transmission was never listed so I’m wondering how many people have been going through the same issues as us and if this will get fixed because our vin is not recalled and it should be

With 83,000 miles, we checked the oil to discover it was empty. Upon taking it to the dealer, they determined that there was severe scoring due to the known PCV value issue under TSB 19-2365 for excessive oil consumption. Prior to this time, there had been no oil issues with the vehicle. Dealer recommended replacement of the engine. The engine was replaced in August 2024 with a remanufactured engine. The oil was changed on December 5, 2024. From that point to February 25, 2025, the oil was checked periodically with 3 quarts of oil being added over that period of time. We took the truck back to the dealer to check to see why there is excessive oil consumption again. The dealer instructed us that they would need to follow the recommended action in TSB 19-2365 to reprogram the powertrain control module, install a new engine oil level indicator, and...

A significant knocking sound can be heard from my truck during cold start and when at idle and remains an issue that Ford did not address as part of their Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 issued on March 21, 2021. That specific CSP specifically excluded my model (Ford F-150 Raptor) from the program; however, my vehicle exhibits the exact same cam phaser issues and has already been identified by my local Ford dealership as the root cause. I am submitting this request that the NHTSA will require/force Ford to honor their product and fully cover the cost of needed repairs no different than what they did as part of the CSP 21N03.

There was something wrong with the Ford 10 speed transmission on my truck - 2018 Ford F 150. The transmission would jerk hard at completely random times. The biggest safety issue was that at times it wouldn't "go" when you pushed on the gas causing a delay that was particularly problematic when you were pulling into traffic. There needs to be a recall. If you google F150 10 speed transmission problems, there have been a myriad of them. Powertrain control module software is faulty, causing improper diagnosis of catalytic converters efficiency. Prompting a check engine light and P0430/P0420 code. I could not pass emissions testing with this code. The Ford dealer made me pay out of pocket to replace catalytic converters ~6 months ago, total cost of $2975.12. The have now addressed that it is unlikely the catalytic converters were faulty, and are offering no reimbursement.

My coolant/water housing had an issue and caused a leak by the thermostat and it caused my engine to overheat while I was driving. I had my 10yr old son in the vehicle with me and had I not had the opportunity to pull over into a Walmart parking lot almost immediately in order to get some coolant into my truck, it would have been disastrous. The warning for high engine temperature was the only warning I had as I was unaware that I had any type of coolant leak. This could and may have caused some more damage than just the mandatory repairs that I had to do because this is my mode of transportation to/from work for the Federal Government.

Ford F-150 equipped with 5.0L with 68,000 miles has a significant amount of engine oil loss between recommended intervals from the manufacturer. Took vehicle to dealership it was bought from brand new, they confirmed the level. Added oil, then the service department manager said, “we’ll have to do the oil consumption test. This is the test Ford recommends on the Service Board and they know about the problem.” They will send data to Ford, and Ford will recommend to “more than likely put a new motor in.” Since I’m just out of warranty, I have to pay over $15,000 out of pocket for a problem Ford knows about.

The Cam phasers on this vehicle are defective. This will be my third cam phasers in less than 3 years. The Cam Phasers cause the emissions to fail and can also cause unsafe driving such as the first time they failed while driving on the highway. I have brought this to the attention of the dealership numerous times and they say they can't duplicate it, even though it makes the noise when turning on the car or idling every time. They finally admitted this past visit to the Mall of Georgia Ford that it is an issue and a known recurring issue with this vehicle. I see the issue reported online, Ford Facebook pages, blogs, etc with thousands of people experiencing the same unsafe issue with both emissions and driving safety. Please advise.

Cam phasers, turbos, exhaust manifolds. Cam phasers failed in the truck and started to make are really bad rattling noise on the cold start. After it warmed up it had the sound of a diesel engine. This vehicle has only been serviced at Ford since our purchase. We have not noticed any leaks after having the oil change in April 2024; however, we have noticed and reported in the past to the Advisor the rattling/ticking coming from the engine while the vehicle is running but nothing was was mentioned by the technician/Service Advisor after having vehicle serviced until recently. We took the truck in to be checked after noticing the check engine light came on. It was at this time the Service Advisor mentioned while there was no evidence the oil was leaking it appeared to have no oil in the truck. The Service Advisor at the Ford dealership mentioned the technician investigated and stated the oil was being absorbed into the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced.

The 3.5L ecoboost engine in my truck has the Ford cam phasers used also in the 2.7L and 3.0L engines. The cam phasers rattle when the engine starts, and are experiencing failure. The vehicle has been diagnosed by Ford and the quote for repairs is 6,000. To which I am responsible as Ford fails to admit that this engine has the same cam phasers that are also on the recall for other models. This engine has had several complaints and is a common issue and Ford has released a TSRB pertaining to exactly this issue. The problem with this, is that when you buy the truck as used, they don't tell you about the TSRB. Nor does Ford when you service the truck at the Ford Dealerships, tell you about any TSRBs either. My truck has had all of it service requirements met at Ford Dealerships since I have owned...
