I started the truck including the rear and front window defroster. After about 5 minutes, I heard a loud "pop." I looked around the vehicle and noticed that back window was broken.
I have a 2018 Ford F150 with a windshield wiper linkage that is seizing up. It is available for inspection upon request. I was driving down the highway after the snow last night and with all the salt and snow coming off the highway, I couldn't see and the wipers just stopped mid swing. This appears to be the same issue that Canada users are experiancing too (24S77). The dealer said they were out of the part due to many instances of this issue. It was inspected and the motor appears to still work but the linkage is seizing up and stopping. There were no warnings. It just stopped working.
The windshield wipers began running very slow and at times completely stop at mid wipe position. The occurs no matter what speed they are set at.
The 2018 Ford F150 is notorious for the connection for the rear defroster on the rear window to fall off. There is no real good way to repair this. This leaves it impossible to clear the rear window from snow and ice. This causes extreme visibility issues when attempting to back up and see what is behind you.
Rear view camera is blurry. Can no longer clearly see obstacles while backing up. Camera problem was reproduced and repaired by the dealer.
Linkage seized and no longer moves. This is a recall in Canada but not the US, but my truck was also affected.
Rear Window/Glass spontaneously shattered. Loud Noise as it shattered entirely. No apparent cause while driving in parking lot with no bystanders.
Backup camera was hard to see with, when backing up I could not detect obstacles. I replaced the backup camera with a new part at my cost of about $100 which I have a receipt for.
The Air Conditioning fails and windows fog impairing visibility. Ford dealer diagnosed the problem as the A/C evaporator sensor failure and estimated the cost at $2800 to remove the entire dashboard and all components. No warning lights or other indicators appear. The A/C evaporator apparently freezes over and block air flow through the vents. This is a problem many of these vehicles are having. I have included the ford service bulletin. It is available for inspection. Thank You
The windshield wipers will sometimes go off when they are not on.
Back-up camera is not clear , I can't clearly make out objects when backing, even after cleaning the lens. This has been like this as long as I have had the truck.
My windshield wipers will come on in the slow position even though they are "Off". I cannot get them to stop. My wipers will continue to do this for a month or so, and then return to normal where I can control them. This has happened 3 times now. While this is happening, I have problems controlling the speed of the wipers. This only happens when the truck is running.
Windshield Wipers stopped working
Rain sensing wipers activate when there is no rain. Also, the wipers activate when I use my turn signal.
My drivers windshield wiper arm broke 4 weeks ago in the rain because the little key popped off. The wiper hit the driver behind me and I almost got into an accident. Today my passenger windshield wiper arm broke for the same reason. The little metal key popped off. This wipers are very flawed. That little key should be welded to the wiper. It was snowing and a very little snow caused my wiper arm key to break. Now I have to buy a whole new one. This is my second arm in 2 weeks. I have now replaced both wiper arms. This could have killed me, my family and others. Corners should not be but while making wiper arms. They can cause a visual hazard and result in death. Not smart! Please do a recall on these.
Windshield wipers will not completely shut off. Wipers come on approximately every 12 seconds after being turned to the off setting. Besides being irritating, it eventually will wear down the wiper blades and scratch the windshield which becomes a safety concern. Searching the internet this seems to have been a chronic problem with the combination wiper/turn singal switch on Ford F-150 dating back several years.
The wiper motor has failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. This is a safety issue as rain or snow cannot be cleared for visibility during inclement weather. No, it has not yet been inspected by the dealer. There are no warning lamps or indicators associated with the failure. It first started to appear as degraded performance (slow moving) in December of 2022 and has progressively gotten worse.
tHE WIPERS WILL STAY ON. THE REAR SUSPENSION IS RATTLING. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY TRUCK. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT WITH MY TRUCK. THE DEALER AT BBMOTORS CONFIRMED THE SUSPENSION RATTLING THE LAST TIME I HAD SERVICE THERE.
Back window shattered without any impact. The truck was parked in my garage. I started the truck, put it in reverse, and let my foot off the brake. As soon as I started moving I heard a loud bang and the back window was shattered. Not cracked but shattered into little pieces. If this would have happened when I was on a highway no telling what could have happened. A dealer said it was out of warranty and they don't do glass so they would farm it out to someone else and I would have to pay for it. I told them no thanks and had it replaced by someone of my choosing. Cost was less than my deductible so I payed for it out of pocket. The truck was parked in my garage and the temperature was in the low 80's at the time. I have no idea what...
There wasnt an incident yet, but it was made a law that after may 1st, 2018, all new vehicles need rear view visibility systems. Ford made their vehicles have backup cameras, but they are faulty and stop working. Then charge consumers thousands of dollars to fix a safety issue that should be a recall, free of charge. I am filing a complaint om behalf of thousands and thousands of Ford owners. This law went into effect may 1st of 2018, According to USDOT and the National Highway Traffic safety administration. What ford is doing is wrong/unlawful and they should have to follow the law just like everyone else (even being an automobile company).
The rear window spontaneously shattered while stopped at traffic light in South Florida I heard a loud bang and discovered the rear window was shattered. It was temporarily held in place by the laminate in the glass and window tint. It was approximately 90° outside, and the air conditioner was on. I inspected both interior and exterior surfaces of the window. They were unmarked. We called our insurance agent and they directed us to get it repaired by one of two companies they dealt with. The vehicle is currently undrivable. When I closed the driver’s door upon exiting the vehicle the window pushed out further towards the truck bed.
Rear window fractured and exploded when opening and then closing rear drive side door. Original owner. Neighbors outside and didn’t see anything unusual or anyone around vehicle and Erlo cameras didn’t pick up any activity. Vehicle was in driveway closest to garage door.
Driving 35mph on flat straight road when rear sliding window exploded with no external forces applied. Huge noise shocked me and made me swerve into adjacent lane. Glass shattered all over the rear seats and floor of the vehicle. Immediately brought vehicle to Flood Ford in East Greenwich to be looked at. Service advisor said he had never seen that and because I was a couple months out of warranty they wouldn't be paying for the repair. Contacted Ford customer service same day and was told the same thing.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-250. The contact stated that when they closed their driver-side front door, the vehicle's rearview window suddenly shattered into many pieces. The contact called the dealer who had been in contact with the manufacturer regarding replacing the rear windshield window. The window had not been replaced as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 28,600
Back windshield blown out without impact. Vehicle was parked in driveway and had not been driven for several days.
1. Rear Window Spontaneously Shattered 2. My seven years old daughter was in the back seat, glass remains reached even the front seats. 3. My wife was driving and she was not able to see the traffic behind her. She was very concern about my daughter safety with the broken window behind her. 4.Dealer had not been contacted. 5. 911 contacted, police inspected the rear window and created an incident number. -No warning lamps were turned on.
VEHICLE WAS IN THE GARAGE, PARKED. I GOT IN STARTED THE VEHICLE, HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE WIND CHIMES, GOT OUT, LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND SAW GLASS. I THEN NOTICED THE BACK WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THERE WAS NEVER ANY IMPACT TO THE WINDOW.
BOTH TRACKS ON PANORAMIC ROOF ARE CRACKED AND PLASTIC PIECES FOUND IN TRACK. SUNROOF STUCK IN OPEN POSITION ON THE HIGHWAY. CANNOT CLOSE PANORAMIC ROOF SO HIGHWAY DEBRIS IS FLYING INTO VEHICLE. HAVE SAND AND ROAD DEBRIS HITTING PASSENGERS INSIDE VEHICLE.
WINDSHIELD FLUID IS FREEZING UP. 1ST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE THE FLUID USED WAS ONLY FOR WARMER TEMPS AS THERE WAS ALSO SOME ICE FLOATING IN THE RESERVOIR BB. TOOK TO A DEALER IN NY, HAD THE OLD FLUID REMOVED & REPLACED WITH FLUID GOOD TO -20 DEGREES. IT WORKED FINE AT FIRST AFTER REPAIR BUT THEN OVERNIGHT IT FROZE AGAIN IN THE LINES (NOT RESERVOIR). IT EVENTUALLY DEFROSTED IN SOUTHERN VIRGINIA, AFTER DRIVING @6 HOURS. LUCKILY THE ROADS WERE RELATIVELY DRY. I'VE LIVED IN COLD CLIMATES THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE NEVER HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. I FOUND INFO ON YOU TUBE THAT ONE OF THE VALVES NEEDS TO BE ENLARGED TO PREVENT FREEZING.
THE REAR WINDOW ON MY 2018 FORD F-150 SHATTERED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MIDDLE SLIDING WINDOW WITH NO IMPACT. THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED OUTWARD TOWARDS THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND AND NOT INSIDE FURTHER CONFIRMING THE SHATTERED WINDOW WAS NOT DUE TO IMPACT OF ANY KIND. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED STATIONARY AT MY OFFICE PARKING GARAGE ON AN 80-85 DEGREE DAY WHEN THE REAR WINDOW RANDOMLY SHATTERED OUTWARD. THE EDGES OF THE GLASS THAT ATTACHED TO THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK CAB ALSO SHATTERED AND "SPIDER WEBBED" ACROSS THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW JUST AS A BUILDING WINDOW BREAKS WHEN UNDER STRESS FROM STRUCTURAL MOVEMENT OR SHIFTING. THE REAR WINDOW CLEARLY SHATTERED OUTWARD FROM STRESS ON THE GLASS WHILE MY TRUCK WAS PARKED AND NOT MOVING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS INCIDENT AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER FORD TRUCKS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE REAR WIND SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERING WITH NO IMPACT. THIS...
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WITHOUT ANY IMPACT. ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING IN DRY 70 DEGREE WEATHER I HEARD WIND NOISE AND WHEN I LOOKED OVER MY SHOULDER I NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW HAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED EXCEPT FOR THE SLIDER WINDOW,
THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL SOMETIMES BE FUZZY OR GO DARK WHEN IN REVERSE CAUSING NO VISIBILITY TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS.
EVEN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTUATOR KNOB SET TO 'OFF', WIPERS CONTINUE TO OPERATE, AS IF ON LOWEST INTERMITTENT WIPER DELAY SETTING.
THE BACK GLASS ON MY 2018 F-150 EXPLODED OUTWARDS INTO THE BED OF MY TRUCK WHEN MY WIFE SHUT THE REAR RIGHT DOOR. THE REAR GLASS HAD NO DAMAGE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, BY ME, IN 2018. THE GLASS WAS ORIGINAL FROM THE FACTORY. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED TODAY 04 JULY, 2020. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 90 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. SOME GLASS RAINED DOWN ONTO MY INFANT SON'S CAR SEAT BASE. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THAT MY WIFE DECIDED TO PUT SOMETHING INTO THE TRUCK BEFORE WE PUT MY SONS CAR SEAT IN THERE. THE GLASS CUT MY WIFE'S HAND A LITTLE BIT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND BECAME AWARE THAT THE SUNROOF HAD STARTED TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER WHILE A BYSTANDER PROVIDED TAPE TO SECURE THE SUNROOF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER MAC HAIK'S SOUTHWAY FORD LOCATED AT 7979 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78224, WERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,100.
THE ELECTRIC REAR DEFROSTER ON MY 2018 F150 XLT CREWCAB PURCHASED IN 10/2018 STOPPED WORKING FOR SOME REASON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRES HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE REAR WINDOW GLASS FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. THE DEALER "REPAIRED" THE DEFROSTER USING EPOXY TO GLUE THE WIRES ONTO THE GLASS AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD 13,542 MILES ON IT. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER ON 1/15/2020 AT ABOUT 7PM. THE NEXT MORNING I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK AT 6AM FOR A 24HR SHIFT. I WORKED UNTIL 6AM ON 1/17/2020 AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A STATE ROAD WITH THE DEFROSTER ON THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED SUDDENLY WITH SUCH FORCE I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD SHOT THE VEHICLE. WHILE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. I LOOKED...
ON 01/09/2020 I PARKED MY 2018 FORD F 150 IN A PARKING LOT WHEN WE CAME BACK WE HEARD A LOUD POP AND WITHOUT ANY INFLUENCE FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE THE BACK WINDOW WITH THE SLIDER INSIDE SHATTERED. WE DROVE TO OUR FORD DEALER AND HE TOLD AS THAT THE GLASS BROKE WITHOUT ANY IMPACT FROM OUTSIDE AND HE IS HAPPY THAT THIS HAS NOT HAVE HAPPENED DURING DRIVING BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY WHO DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY EVEN IF THEIR ARE MULTIPLE CLAIMS REPORTED FROM OTHER FORD F 150 DRIVERS WITH THE SAME MODEL. THE DEFROSTER FOR THE WINDOW WAS USED THIS MORNING BECAUSE IT WAS FREEZING AND THE WINDOW INDICATED THAT IT BROKE BECAUSE OF TO MUCH HEAT AND STRESS IN THE GLASS WHAT IS IN MY OPINION A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD...
WHEN IT RAINS OR WHEN I CLEAN MY WINDSHIELD. IT DOES NOT LEAVE A CLEAN VISION. AND I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED THE WIPER BLADES 4 TIMES. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERS AND ONE OF THE SERVICE MANS HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH HIS NEW 2019 F150. I REALLY THINK THE WIND SHIELD NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OUT. I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE BLADES.
WHEN I CLOSED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ON MY TRUCK THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 95 DEGREES F. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME.
BRAND NEW TRUCK WITH 750 MILES WAS STATIONARY AT A LIGHT WITH CARS STATIONARY ALL AROUND WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE A HUGE BOOM/EXPLOSION HAPPENED. I LOOK IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SEE THAT THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW(SAVE THE MIDDLE SLIDER WINDOW THAT'S ONE A SEPARATE TRACK) HAS SHATTERED, BUT MOSTLY INTACT, INTO A MILLION PIECES. UPON CLOSE INSPECTION I NOTICED 99% OF THE GLASS IN THE BED AND OF TRUCK AND A FEW VERY SMALL PARTICLES ON THE REAR HEADRESTS. THE TWO NOTICEABLE HOLES IN THE REAR WINDOW ARE ON OPPOSITE SIDES FROM EACH OTHER AND ARE PROTRUDING OUT AS THOUGH SOMETHING TRANSPIRED IN THE CAB AND BLEW THE GLASS OUTWARDS. NO FOREIGN OBJECTS FOUND IN THE VEHICLE OR IN THE BED, NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK OR REMAINING WINDOWS. NO MACHINERY OPERATING IN THE AREA OR LANDSCAPE WORK NEARBY. I PURCHASED THE KING RANCH DIESEL HALF TON NEW...
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR HAS A DOUBLE IMAGE. THIS MAKES NIGHT DRIVING AND IDENTIFYING OBJECT IN THE MIRROR MORE DIFFICULT. IT DUPLICATES HEADLIGHTS WHICH AT NIGHT CREATES MORE LIGHT IN THE DRIVERS FACE MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. THE MIRROR HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE IT WAS TEST DRIVEN THE DRIVE TRAIN ISSUE, AT 7,000 MILES THE TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED A WHINING SOUND WHILE ACCELERATING THE DEALER BELIES THIS IS THE PINION BEARING.
WARPED DASH BOARD CAUSING VISIBILITY AND SAFETY CONCERNS
FORD 2018 F150 REAR WINDOW / DEFROSTER ISSUES - LUCKILY, MY REAR WINDOW DID NOT SHATTER AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCED DEFROSTER OVERHEATING TO THE POINT WHERE 2 OUT OF 3 SECTIONS OF THE WINDOW NO LONGER WORK. UPON INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THE RESISTIVE ELEMENTS ARE BURNT AND BECOMING DELAMINATED FROM THE WINDOW IN MULTIPLE PLACES. I DID ALSO SMELL WARM/BURNING ELECTRONICS AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP - AS THIS SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WAS TOLD THE CLAIM WAS DENIED, EVEN THOUGH I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED. I CAN SEE HOW A SUDDEN OVER-CURRENT / OVERHEATING LIKE THIS COULD LEAD TO GLASS SHATTERING AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE IF THEIR CONTROLS AND/OR DEFROSTER ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS, AS MY VISION IS OBSTRUCTED AS A...
USED AUTO START TO WARM UP THE TRUCK. WENT AND STARTED DOWN THE STREET AND NOTICED BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SLIDING WINDOW. SLIDING PART WAS FINE. WINDOW WAS FINE WHEN PARKED 8 HOURS BEFORE. THIS SAT WHERE NO ONE OR ANYTHING COULD HIT IT BEHIND MY HOUSE. DEALER SAID IT MY INSURANCE'S PROBLEM.
MY F-150 WITH STANDARD MIRRORS, LEAVES A DRIVER OPEN TO MANY BLIND SPOTS. MY VEHICLE IS A SUPER CREW. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A LARGER MIRROR BUT I'M TOLD FORD DOES NOT MAKE ONE, WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE. MY PREVIOUS 2012 F-150 SUPER CREW HAD AWESOME MIRRORS, WHICH LEFT NO ROOM FOR A BLIND SPOT. WHY THE CHANGE? YES, SMALLER MIRRORS ARE MORE AREO DYNAMIC BUT LACK FOR SAFETY AND VISUALIZATION. ALL REMAINS AS IS UNTIL PEOPLE START GETTING HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF POOR VISUALIZATION. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A SAFER MIRROR. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET, BUT DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DOES?
MY REAR WINDOW OCCASIONALLY LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX. IT COULD CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND/OR MOLD/MILDEW IN VEHICLE.
REAR WINDOW VISIBILITY WITHOUT DEFOGGER DEFROSTER. ALL CARS/TRUCKS SHOULD HAVE A REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER DEFROSTER. FORD SELLING VEHICLES WITHOUT AND IGNORING SAFETY ISSUES. DEALERSHIP SHOULD MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT THESE TRUCKS SELL WITH OR WITHOUT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER/DEFROSTER AND ONLY COME AS AN OPTION. EVEN MY 1955 RENAULT HAD ONE. THANK YOU.
WINDSHIELD HAS SEVERE PITTING AND IS GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY. ANY SUN GLARE CAUSES LOSS OF VISIBILITY AND I HAVE TO ACTUALLY STOP THE VEHICLE AND HANG MY HEAD FROM THE SIDE WINDOW TO SEE. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO SAND STORMS, ETC. I OWN A 1966 TBIRD WITH THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD AND IT HAS BETTER VISIBILITY THAN THE 2018 F150. FORD IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET AND NOT RESPONDING. FORD CASE # 15233332
DASH IN THE XLS AND XLTS ARE BUCKLING AT THE DEFROSTING VENTS, POTENTIALLY EFFECTING THE AIRFLOW OF DEFROSTERS AND CREATING A HAZARDOUS CONDITION.
THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WENT OUT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT. I CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR LIKE NORMAL AND THE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT UPON CLOSING. THE AMBIENT AIR WAS PROBABLY 72 DEGREES AND IT WAS AROUND 8PM. THE TRUCKS INTERIOR WAS THE SAME AS AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. FURTHERMORE, IT DOES NOT HAVE A REAR DEFROSTER.
