The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the interior lights illuminated, and the rear driver's door message was displayed. The battery was drained due to the failure. The contact located a similar article on YouTube regarding the rear driver's door and that the wiring harness was frayed. The contact spoke to her neighbor, who experienced the same failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,391.
Doors would not latch in temperature colder than 25F.
CPSC:2018 FORD F150 FROZEN DOOR LATCH ISSUE. IN TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. IT EITHER PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED OR ONCE OPENED IT PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING CLOSED. *DT *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED AND COULD NOT BE LOCKED AND SECURED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. HUMPHREY PARKWAY FORD (311 COMMERCIAL DR, DOVER, OH) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500.

SHULTS FORD OF WEXFORD (10401 PERRY HWY, WEXFORD, PA) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WATER ENTERING THE DOOR CABIN, WHICH CAUSED THE LOCKING MECHANISM TO FREEZE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,800.
