Ford has a known motor defect with 2018-2020 F150 pickups with coyote engine. In my case at 57k miles dealer determined I need a new engine due to this oil consumption issue caused by the costing they sprayed on the motor cylinders. Searching the internet thousands of this model have same issue and ford refuses to recall it. In fact I am having issues even getting Ford to cover it under warranty. While I jave not experienced a safety issue yet, if the motor seizes while on the highway it is highly likely to cause a safety risk. Fords fix as indicated by attachment is to extend the dipstick so you put additional oil(takes 10 qts by default so requiring more) to hide the issue from consumers. Their goal for sure is to hide the issue from consumers until out if warranty.
Three occurrences within a week, low oil pressure and check engine light illuminated on 2018 F-150. Twice at cruising speed (20-50 mph) and once when accelerating(60-70mph) to pass. When accelerating to pass, light(s) illuminated, and experience a temporary loss of power. Took vehicle for inspection and notified vehicle was 6 quarts low. Vehicle had last had oil change approx. 5,000 miles before incident, and had no evidence of leaking. I was given a copy of TSB 19-2365(Excessive Oil Consumption) and advised to see dealer. Dealer stated this was a known issue, even though not widely published/disseminated . Dealer charged for performing maintenance under TSB and advised to return in 3,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact added 1 quart of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the failure recurred every 1,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a different independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with excessive oil consumption. The contact discovered Technical Service Bulletin: 19-2365, however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The engine makes a popping sound, acceleration and deceleration rattles and response delay. Dealer repair was a replacement of the intake manifold/runner controls. Service advisor advised the dowels that hold the interior parts and runners come lose due to improper factory installation or defect. The popping is raw gas causing the popping. When the runners fall out the vehicle will lose power. Obvious safety defect and concern to the public. The vehicle has 30K miles, no warning light or computer error shown at the dealer, obvious concern with this. Concern with transmission delay, clunking and jerking, along with the poor running engine. The dealer said this was normal and again no warning light comes on or computer code. All repairs and concerns have been addressed with the dealer. Ford is res041920ponsible for a poorly built truck and lack of warning systems in place.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds and entering traffic, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the gear shifter slipped into neutral. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser and rear differential had failed. The transmission drum had shifted, and a transmission replacement was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that there was no recall or warranty coverage on the vehicle and referred him to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

2018 Ford F-150. While starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine bay. There is no warning light illuminated on the dash. It mostly occurs while starting the vehicle, and after the vehicle had been turned off for more than an hour. I have been informed through my mechanic that it is cam phaser failure and needed to be replaced. I have been checking regularly for and recall.
2nd time my F150 has had a CAM Phaser issue. Repaired once in 2021 now again in 2024
Vehicle continues to slip with the transmission and also lose power. I took it to FORD to get it checked out, and they provided the code of p07f7. From what I've read online, this isn't the first time this has happened and their transmission are very faulty. The vehicle will downshift from whichever gear to 1st, and nearly causing multiple wrecks. The wrench light is the only thing that will come on to notify of the problem.

On [XXX] I dropped of my truck at Jim Click Green Valley/Sahuarita Arizona. I was hearing a knocking noise while truck in parked / stopped position. On [XXX], I was advised the truck was ready for pick up. The results read, “C/S: Engine knock in engine bay *check and advise -partners Perform engine diag perform 2 extensive test drive load test the vehicle and listen to the engine noise, only the normal high pressure pump noise all ok at this time.” Very concerning results as noise not present until recently and not what would be considered normal especially with “…all ok at this time.” Extended warranty expires in less than 5,000 miles. A CAM Phaser in the timing chain area is failing. Apparently the oil is not able to stay on that area and drains out. The symptom is a severe rattle on start up. Since it's part of the power train a failure in this part could result in an engine failure. It is a safety issue if this happens and causes a sudden loss of power at freeway speeds. Ford has repaired many of these as part of some program I do not know its name. However Ford has stopped repairing them.
The 10-speed transmission in my 2018 ford f150 shifts erratically causing a huge safety concern for myself and passengers. Pulling out onto highways and crossing intersections have become increasing dangerous when my truck doesn’t shift and essentially stalls in the middle of oncoming and crossing traffic. This is a known concern with these transmissions and the service bulletins issued by ford to “fix” these problems have not done so. This truck and its faulty transmission is a danger to my family and others on the roadway and needs to be fixed.

On several occasions the truck engine started to sound noisy, metal clicking when running. l checked the oil and found it was down several quarts of oil. This has happened several times despite my checking. No leak. Usually down one quart but sometimes down 5 or 6 quarts. The engine doesn't start sometimes and has no power on other times. I brought it to a Ford dealer and told him that it was burning a lot of oil and he changed oil and filter, he replaced the air filter and spark plugs and checked the top of cylinders, he did an "induction service" and said to have it done again in 1,000 miles. Total cost $1,265.50. He also mentioned (not on the bill) that I may need a new engine. No sign of leaking and it looses oil faster than I can check.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during the initial start of the vehicle, there was a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing belt had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. Leaking antifreeze from t clamp with quick connects
Engine makes awful rattling and consumption of oil is ridiculous even after I had them supposedly fix problem which was change the dipstick and reprogram the PCM I believe that's it and now the rear end is being changed for the 2nd time in a year. All the oil is still being consumed somewhere no leaks and my engine shakes and bogs and makes noises like driving a standard. Transmission is lacking on shifting and hard shifting for sure. It needs to be on a recall to fix transmission and engine issues. I barely got 87k and I got it at 56k and I have had all this crap. Done with it.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. 1) My 2017/2018 Ford F-150 has had numerous mechanical issues since I purchased it in May of 2018. The issues were initially repaired by the "dealer" as it was under either factory or extended warranty. The most note worthy issues, which is the purpose of my correspondence as it potentially could lead to a vehicle fire, is the leakage of oil from the oil pan (second time being repaired) and the driver's side valve cover (first time). The issues are reportedly caused, says Ford, due to faulty material used in the gasket of the oil pan and poor material used in the manufacturing of the valve cover (leading to cracking and subsequent oil leakage). These issues, if not repaired at great cost, can result in a vehicle fire. 2) No fire has been experienced nor has the vehicle been examined by an independent mechanic. 3) The only warning I had...
While I was driving slow on a dirt road and after driving for like an hour on an Interstate road engine just shut off and got a message on my dashboard. I tried to upload the picture I took and the message appeared on my dashboard but it’s not letting me.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal clicking sound. The contact drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed cam phaser sensor. The dealer determined that the cam phaser sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 76,100.
The truck currently has 75xxx miles on it. I've had it in at the dealership before for transmission issues. The repairs/fix they did lasted for a while before the same problems came back. It started as rough shifting/jerking. Recently the truck will, when accelerating, jump out of gear completely while indicating on the dash that it is in gear, and the engine will rev up on its own (up to 3500 rpm) for several seconds before violently jerking into gear. I worry that the engine may try to rev up while actually in gear and cause rapid acceleration and possibly an accident if it's unable to be stopped in time.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed cam phasers and that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
While idling at a stop light I could smell an oil burning smell. I continued to monitor the smell the rest of the day and determined an excessive amount of oil dripping from the bottom of the vehicle and also excessive oil puddling near the driver side valve cover in the engine compartment. The amount of oil in the engine compartment is enough to warrant a fire hazard. Diagnosis is a cracked valve cover. No engine warning lights appeared, however excessive oil consumption and a possible fire hazard remains. Vehicle is scheduled for service, however it will takes a few weeks to get a service appointment and parts in stock....
There was a recall on Ford F150 cam phasers years 2017-2020, but my VIN was not included. Our cam phaser has gone bad. It rattles and shakes. Please include our VIN in the recall so our engine doesn’t go out.

This was the letter I initiattly include dthe [email protected] to ford. Dear Ford Motor Company, I'm writing to you as a concerned parent of a 6-year-old child and consumer of your product regarding critical safety issues reported in the 2017-2020 F150 model, and I'd like to ask Ford to please take action. I compiled some research from numerous affected vehicle owners across various states, highlighting alarming and potentially hazardous health concerns and issues that pose significant risks on highways. Just so you know- I noted the same issues I am having with my vehicle and now have to take my car back to the dealer once again. •Grinding noises and pronounced thumping sensations resembling towing a trailer. •Issues reported from critical sections such as the engine solenoid, transmission, flyer axle/Cam Shaft, deceleration noise, oil consumption, leaks, power loss during turns, and truck bogging down. The research highlighted in the attached...
