NHTSA Complaint #11565083 — 2018 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH and merging onto the highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle hesitated and then surged forward. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling roughly while stopped at a traffic light and almost stalled. The contact stated that during a stop at an intersection, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was shifting hard from third gear to fourth gear. Additionally, while shifting gears the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failures to Customer Satisfaction Programs: 21B10 Control Module Reprogram for Cam Phaser Rattle (Engine) and Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 Cam Phaser Replacement (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
