ON JAN 25TH, 27TH AND 29TH A "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP - REGULATORY' LIGHT WENT ON, AND AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS A WARNING OF 'REDUCE POWER' THE TRUCK POWER RESULTS IN AN REDUCTION OF SPEED TO 10-20 MPH. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEED, 60-70MPH ON THE FREEWAY, TO 10-20 MPH. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, AFTER A 'SOFTWARE' UPGRADE I WAS TOLD THE TRUCK WAS OK. HOWEVER ON FED 11TH AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER THE "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP - REGULATORY' LIGHT WHEN ON, AND AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS A WARNING OF 'REDUCE POWER' THE TRUCK POWER RESULTS IN AN REDUCTION OF SPEED TO 10-20 MPH. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE TRUCK GOING, IS TO SHUT IT OFF AND RE-START THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE 'LIGHT' STAYS ON, HOWEVER THE TRUCK RUNS FINE. ITS...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTO START FUNCTION WAS USED TO REMOTELY START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LATER NOTICED FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. A FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED WITH A FIRE INSPECTOR WHO EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGER NEAR THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE WAS CALLED TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. BENNA FORD SUPERIOR (3022 TOWER AVE, SUPERIOR, WI 54880, (715) 394-8669) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FIRE. A FIRE INSPECTION REPORT WAS TO BE DETERMINED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND A MESSAGE DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION WAS ENGAGED, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND RE-START ENGINE. THIS WAS WITH THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE ALREADY DISENGAGED, WHICH I ALWAYS DO. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR ENGINE TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE TO STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, AND RE-START IT IN MOVING TRAFFIC. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL FORUMS. VEHICLE IS A 2018 FORD F150 XLT, 5.0 ENGINE, HAD ABOUT 4000 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING, BETWEEN ABOUT 800 AND 1700RPMS, WHEN YOU LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE TIMING CHAINS RATTLE FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. IT DOES IT EVERY TIME WITHIN THOSE RPM RANGES.
DURING SOME STARTS ENGINE WILL PRODUCE A SMELL. LOOKING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE, I'VE NOTICED 2 LEAKS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.

THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND TAILPIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EVERGREEN FORD LINCOLN (1500 18TH AVE NW, ISSAQUAH, WA 98027, 425-392-6900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 772.
ENGINE REVS UP ON IT OWN: WHEN DRIVING AT A SPEED ~ 10 MPH DOWN MY GRAVELED 600 FEET DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE REVS UP, EXCEEDING 6000 RPM. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON 5 OCCASIONS, TWICE IN NOVEMBER AND THREE TIMES IN DECEMBER, LATEST BEING 12/24/2018. I HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 MONTHS WITH 3300 MILES ON IT. I NOTED WHEN IT OCCURS, IT'S WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED UP. THE REAR TIRES DIG IN AND START SPINNING, THROWING GRAVEL. PRESSING THE BRAKE AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP LOWER THE RPM AND SETTLE THE ENGINE DOWN. THIS COULD BE A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN IN HIGHWAY OR BUSY CITY TRAFFIC. I'VE NOTED ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, SEVERAL FORD F150 OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

MY TRUCK HAS THE 2.7 ENGINE. WHILE TOWING OUR TRAILER LONGER DISTANCES THE TRUCK WILL STALL WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY OR STOPPING FOR FUEL. IT WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE GAS AND DROPPING IT INTO DRIVE. ITS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE IN A INTERSECTION AND CANNOT STEER IT BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRIC STEERING. THIS HAS BEEN A ONGOING ISSUE SINCEE IT WAS NEW AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. ITS TO THE POINT THAT I DONT FEEL SAFE TOWING WITH THIS TRUCK ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY IN IT.
VEHICLE STALLS WHENEVER COMING TO A STOP AFTER TOWING FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. REQUIRES THE VEHICLE TO BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART, BUT WILL CONTINUE TO STALL OUT IMMEDIATELY. DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS AND STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. ALSO STALLS (WHEN TOWING) WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART AFTER REFUELLING. ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START WITHOUT STALLING IT TO KEEP THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED TO KEEP THE RPM ABOVE 1500; OR WAIT 10-15 MINS FOR ENGINE TO COOL. NO CHECK ENGINE/COMPUTER SYSTEM ERROR GIVEN AT ALL. ONLY STALLS WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWING OVER A LONG DISTANCE. OCCURRED 20+ TIMES A DAY OVER THE COURSE OF TRAVELING ACROSS THE US AND CANADA IN JULY/AUGUST 2018. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO FORD SERVICE CENTER IN LONGMONT, CO, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WITH NO CODE. I AM SEEING MORE AND MORE REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH 2018 FORD F-150 2.7L...
MY TRUCK HAS HAD AN ENGINE STUMBLING, HESITATION, AND MISFIRING PROBLEM SINCE DAY 1 OF OWNERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF AFTER 2000MILES OF NORMAL DRIVING BUT IT HAS NOT. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE OVER 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. IT IS MUCH WORSE DURING HOT SUMMER WEATHER (IE TEMPS ABOVE 90F). OCCASIONALLY WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE TRUCK HESITATES AND FAILS TO ACCELERATE. I AM VERY WORRIED THAT IT WILL DO THIS WHEN PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. I AM USING MY 2ND VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO/FROM WORK AS THIS NEW 2018 F-150 V8 IS UNRELIABLE.
MY TRUCK HAS A CONSTANT RATTLE/DETONATION/PREIGNITION NOISE DURING ALL DRIVING. IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD DURING HOT SUMMER MONTHS. IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE AS MONTHS HAVE GONE BY. IT IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHILE CLIMBING VERY SLIGHT UPHILL GRADES AND AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-55MPH. IT CAN BE HEARD FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS COMING FROM ENGINE. A VIBRATION AND SHUDDER CAN BE FELT IN VEHICLE WHEN NOISE IS PRESENT. WHEN IT IS REALLY BAD, THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD AND SOUNDS LIKE A METAL HAMMER BANGING ON INSIDE OF ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD GET BETTER WITH MILEAGE, BUT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. I HAVE AUDIO AND VIDEO RECORDINGS OF NOISE OVER THEN PAST 10MONTHS. I AM VERY WORRIED THAT THIS ENGINE IS GOING TO FAIL.
MY 2018 FORD F150 XLT V8 WITH 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AFTER IDLING. THE START/STOP FUNCTION IS ALWAYS DISABLED WHEN I DRIVE. THE TRUCK HESITATES AND STUMBLES UPON LIGHT ACCELERATION. ONE TIME IT CONTINUED FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE QUITTING COMPLETELY. IT MAKES ME REALLY NERVOUS WHEN I AM PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AS I FEEL IT MAY HESITATE. I GIVE PLENTY ROOM TO TRAFFIC AND EXPECT IT TO STUMBLE SO THAT I DO NOT GET INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE IT QUIT. I'VE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT I HAD TO SUBSTANTIALLY CHANGE MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR TO ADAPT TO ITS MANY FAULTS. DANGEROUS TRUCK.
ENGINE MAKES A VERY LOUD CLICKING AND RATCHETING SOUND AFTER EVERY THROTTLE LIFT FOR THE FIRST 15MIN OF ENGINE OPERATION. I DID NOT HEAR IT UNTIL THE FORD DEALERSHIP WORKED ON THE INTAKE SYSTEM FOR THE STUMBLING AND HESITATION ISSUES. IT CAN BE HEAR OVER 300 FEET AWAY. MY NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS ALL ASK WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY NEW TRUCK. I SUSPECT THE ENGINE VIBRATION ISSUE IS RELATED TO THIS VERY LOUD INTAKE NOISE.

DAUGHTER DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, PARKED IT, AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. WHILE INSIDE THE RESIDENCE, DAUGHTER HEARD DOGS OUTSIDE BARKING. DAUGHTER WENT TO CHECK ON DOGS AND SAW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND ENGINE WAS NOT ON. THE VEHICLE FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE VEHICLE FIRE ALSO BURNED A PART OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL AT THE RESIDENCE WHERE IT BURNED. I REQUEST THAT THIS VEHICLE BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT REASON FOR IT TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. IT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT.
WITH AUTO STOP/START DISABLED USING THE DASH CONTROL, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE MOVING ON A CITY STREET IN TRAFFIC DURING A SLOW-SPEED 90 RIGHT-HAND TURN. THE ON-DASH MESSAGE REFERENCED EITHER THE AUTO SHUTDOWN OR AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION STOPPING THE ENGINE AND INSTRUCTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE DID RESTART AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY REPORTED THAT NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES WERE PRESENT IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED AFTER "SEVERAL" TEST DRIVES.
I HAVE HAD TWO RUN AWAY FULL ACCELERATIONS IN THIS NEW TRUCK. I ACCELERATED FIRMLY AND THE ACCELERATOR REFUSED TO DISENGAGE. AT OVER 90 MPHM I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, THE RPM INCREASED AND I SHUT OFF THE KEY. NEXT TIME IN THE SAME DRIVE IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE KEY. I WILL NOTIFY MY DEALER TOMORROW. I WILL NOT DRIVE IN THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. AS AN EXPERIENCED COMMERCIAL PILOT I HAVE BEEN TRAINED HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE BUT THE PUBLIC HAS NO CLUE WHAT TO DO.
I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRUCK WAS STATIONARY STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, AND THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE STOP WAS ACTIVE, WITH SYNC NETWORKED. A VEHICLE FROM BEHIND RAN INTO MY 3 WEEK OLD VEHICLE. THE ENGINE AUTOMATIC START-STOP SYNC STARTED, AND THE ENGINE RACED TO VERY HIGH RPMS. THROWING MY HEAD BACK INTO THE HEADREST AGAIN. I HAD TO PRESS REALLY HARD UPON THE BRAKES TO PREVENT MY VEHICLE FROM SLAMMING INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. AT THAT MOMENT MY MIND THOUGHT OF THE TOYOTA CAMRY ACCELERATION PROBLEM YEARS AGO, AND UPON THE VEHICLE RETURNING TO NORMAL IDLE RPMS, I DOUBLE CHECKED THAT MY FOOT WAS ACTUALLY ON THE BRAKE. MY FOOT WAS ACTUALLY ON THE BRAKE.
SAME ISSUES I'M READING HERE. VEHICLE FREQUENTLY MAKES A LOUD BANG WHEN STARTED. SHIFTS GEARS EXTREMELY ROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE YOU'RE JERKED AROUND. NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN CARS ARE BEHIND YOU OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS BECAUSE MY FUEL INJECTOR WENT OUT AT 4,500 MILES! IT DOESN'T RUN MUCH BETTER NOW. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY JUST BLEW ME OFF AND SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR THE VEHICLE'. READING ALL THESE ISSUES HERE, FORD REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION! EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!
I HAVE 2018 FORD F150 RAPTOR EDITION AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH IT SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 BRAND NEW. CURRENTLY THE ENGINE IS BLOWN AND IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SERVICE FOR OVER 118 DAYS SINCE PURCHASE.I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, FIRST DAY AFTER GETTING TRUCK BACK FROM 28 DAY SERVICE AND THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WHICH IS WHY IT WAS IN SERVICE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND FORD AND THEY ADVISED TO KEEP DRIVING UNTIL THEY HEARD BACK FROM THE FORD HOTLINE. A WEEK OR SO LATER IT WAS BROKE DOWN SMOKING ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IN ADDITION THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER PROBLEMS.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND MAKES A POPPING NOISE FORM ENGINE . SOUNDS LIKE A MISFIRE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES ON SOMETIMES DURING THIS EVENT. ALSO WHEN CRANKING IT MISFIRES SOMETIMES. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME DAY ONE BRAND NEW.
THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WIDESPEAD AMONGST OWNERS OF FORD'S NEW 3.5L HIGH OUTPUT POWERTRAIN. UPON OPEN THROTTLE, THE ENGINE WILL INSTANTLY DROP OFF ALL POWER, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO DANGEROUSLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY DROP TO ZERO MILES PER HOUR. VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING WHILE ENTERING ROADWAYS OR INTERSTATE ROADS WITH TRAFFIC. UPON OPEN THROTTLE, A "LOW OIL PRESSURE" LIGHT TAKES OVER THE VIEWING AREA ON THE DASH CLUSTER AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. UPON RESTARTING, THE TRUCK WILL FAIL AND PROVIDE A "LOW OIL PRESSURE" SIGNAL AGAIN AFTER APPLYING OPEN THROTTLE. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP OR UNDER CRUISING SPEEDS, WHEN OPEN THROTTLE IS APPLIED, THE ENGINE FAILS AND CUTS OFF ALL POWER. IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU ARE TURNING OR GOING STRAIGHT, THE ISSUE HAPPENS REGARDLESS. ALWAYS HAPPENS UNDER OPEN THROTTLE. THIS HAS BECOME A WIDESPEAD ISSUE WITH OWNERS OF THE TRUCK...
