WHILE DRIVING, THERE HAS BEEN ROUGH INTERMITTENT SHIFTS/ACCELERATION, PARTICULARLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENS BETWEEN 5-7 GEARS. VEHICLE WILL BE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, AS YOU ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WILL GO THROUGH FIRST FEW GEARS WITH NORMAL ACCELERATION AND PICK UP SPEED, THE SUDDEN JERKING OF THE VEHICLE SEEMS LIKE IT JUST DID AN ENGINE BREAK(?). VEHICLE WILL BE ACCELERATING TO 40+ MPH AND FEEL AS IF IT DID A SUDDEN BRAKE AND DECELERATE RAPIDLY TO THAN RESUME ACCELERATION. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED, WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN PARK AND DRIVE OR PARK AND REVERSE, THE SHIFT IS SOMETIMES ROUGH AS IF THE CLUTCH WAS NEVER ENGAGED AND IT WAS FORCED INTO THE DRIVE MODE. NOT ONLY WILL THE BE A LARGE NOISE, BUT A SLIGHT JERK. ALSO, I HAVE HAD MY PHASERS REPLACED ALREADY DUE TO LOUD ENGINE NOISE.
FIRST TIME TOWING OUR 5000LB TRAILER; DROVE WITHOUT STOPPING FOR APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES ON HIGHWAY. AS PULLING OFF HIGHWAY ON EXIT RAMP THE TRUCK STALLS AS WE COME TO A STOP AND IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. GIVES A MESSAGE SOMETHING ABOUT TURNING OFF THE AUTO STOP. ONLY WAY TO GET THE TRUCK TO MOVE IS TO GIVE LOTS OF GAS AND LET OFF ON BRAKE SLOWLY AND HOPE TRUCK MOVES. 2018 F-150 WITH 5.0 LITRE V-8 ENGINE HAS LOUD AND CONCERNING KNOCKING WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION HAS RECENTLY SHIFTED INTO A NEW GEAR AND BEFORE ENGINE RPMS HAVE CLIMBED BACK UP. WHEN I PULLED OUR BOAT OUT OF THE LAKE A MONTH OR SO AGO, MY GASOLINE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE AN OLD DIESEL ENGINE DUE TO THE KNOCK. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, AND THE TECHNICIANS HAVE CONFIRMED THE KNOCK. ON THE SECOND VISIT, FORD ENGINEERS HAD THE TECHNICIANS TAKE APART THE ENGINE AND REPLACE SOME VCT VALVES. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN, THE FORD ENGINEERS HAD THE TECHNICIANS DRIVE A LIKE MODEL TRUCK (2018 F-150 WITH 5.0 LITRE V-8), AND THAT TRUCK MADE THE SAME KNOCKING NOISES. MY VEHICLE COMPLETE TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH. NO STEERING WHEEL NO BRAKES AFTER THAT AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY TOOK THIS TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE INTERNAL TIMING OF THE ENGINE AND IT WILL TAKE 3-4 WEEKS TO GET IT REPAIRED HOWEVER I DO NOT TRUST IN THE CORRECT FUNCTIONING OF THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THOMASVILLE FORD LINCOLN (1515 E JACKSON ST, THOMASVILLE, GA 31792) ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DUE TO ABNORMAL NOISES COMING FROM THE ENGINE, THE TRANSMISSION SKIPPING GEARS, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. ON HIS LAST VISIT, A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE AND MULTIPLE FAILURE CODES APPEARED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DIAGNOSTIC HE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER STATED FOR HIM TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER ALLOWED THAT CONTACT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. UPON RETURN OF HIS VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A...
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE STALL AFTER A 5 HOUR DRIVE (WITH REFUELING STOPS) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (I-85 SOUTHBOUND, BETWEEN DURHAM AND ATLANTA), TOWING A 2,000LB EMPTY TRAILER . STALL OCCURRED AFTER STOP AT THE OFF-RAMP. NO ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, BUT MESSAGE STATING "AUTOSTART/STOP"FEATURE ERROR. CAR WOULD STALL AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER RESTART. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, ENGINE WOULD NOT STALL IF THROTTLE PRESSED TO KEEP RPM'S ABOVE IDLE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE REMAINING 15 MILES (OF TOTAL 350 MI TRIP). FIRST LEG OF THIS TRIP WAS TAKEN DURING THE DAY, WITH A 2,000LB LOAD TOTALLY APPROXIMATELY 4,000LB TOWED, WITH NO ISSUES. THE ABOVE STALL OCCURRED AFTER 2 HOURS OF NIGHT DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOT, TRUCK LOST POWER, TURNED ITSELF OFF, AND DISPLAYED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE: AUTO STARTSTOP SHIFT TO P, THEN RESTART ENGINE. STILL HAD POWER STEERING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE UNTIL COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SHIFTING TO PARK.
TRANSMISSION IS NOT SMOOTH WHEN SHIFTING. MAKES LOUD CLUNKING SOUNDS AND SHUDDERS.
MY 2018 FORD F150 HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE CAM PHASER MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE DURING STARTUP. I HAD THEM REPLACED BY MY DEALER. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES DO TO OIL LEAKS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON. ALSO I AM HAVING WHAT LOOKS LIKE MY ENGINE OIL MIXING WITH MY COOLANT AND ALSO THE COOLANT MIXING IN MAY OIL. THE DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS NORMAL. I TRIED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY ALL REFUSED TO WORK ON MY TRUCK THEY SAID TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THAT DID THE ORIGINAL REPAIRS. I CALLED THE DEALER THAT DID THE ORIGINAL REPAIRS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON MY TRUCK SINCE I HAD MY LLAWYER CONTACT FORDS CUSTOMER RELATIONS I HAVE REPAIR ORDERS BUT THE FILE WAS TO LARGE TO ATTACH

ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN STOPPED AND WAITING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC ON A FOUR LANE STATE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE AUTO STOP FEATURE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN I LET OF THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE AUTO STARTED AND I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND NEARLY DROVE INTO A DITCH. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS A DELAY BETWEEN WHEN THE ENGINE AUTO STARTS AND WHEN THE POWER STEERING WORKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ESPECIALLY WHEN CROSSING LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
THERE IS A TICKING RATTLE SOUND FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AREA. THE SOUND IS NOTICEABLY LOUDER AFTER STARTING THEN THE VOLUME DROPS A LEVEL, BUT STILL STEADY SOUND THERE AFTER, MOVING OR NOT.

THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2018 FORD F150 VIN [XXX] THIS HAS THE ECO-BOOST V6 3.5L ENGINE IN IT. LAST OCTOBER 2019 THE ENGINE STARTED RATTLING AT STARTUP. I BROUGHT THIS TO DEALERSHIP (FX CAPRARA FORD PULASKI, NY) AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAM PHASERS & TENSIONERS WERE BAD AND REQUIRED REPLACING. THIS WOULD BE DONE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ORDERED THE PARTS AND INFORMED ME THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. IT TOOK 2 1/2 MONTHS FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN ON FEB 11TH FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD WOULD TAKE 3 DAYS TO COMPLETE. ON FEB 17TH ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP 4 OF THE PARTS WERE MIS-LABELED AND HAD TO BE ORDERED AGAIN. AS OF TODAY FEB 25 I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY TRUCK BACK. WAS TOLD PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST NEXT 3 WEEKS AS FORD IS HAVING A PROBLEM SOURCING THE PARTS....
VEHICLE CONSUMED A FEW QUARTS OF OIL BEFORE IT'S NEXT OIL CHANGE WAS DUE. JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK WITH LOW MILEAGE. NO REASON FOR IT TO CONSUME LIKE THAT. NO LEAKS. NOTICED WHEN A CHANGE OIL SOON WARNING CAME UP AS I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY.THOUGH IT WAS ODD CONSIDERING IT WAS PREMATURE. WHEN I CHECKED, ALMOST NO OIL WAS ON THE DIPSTICK. IT WAS FULL 5 WEEKS AGO WHEN I CHECKED IT LAST.
MY 2018 F150, AFTER TOWING A TRAILER FOR 2 HRS, DIES WHEN STOPPING AT A LIGHT OR IN A PARKING LOT. IN THE TOW/HAUL MODE THE AUTO-STOP-START SHOULD NOT ENGAGE, BUT THE DASH WARNING LIGHT SAYS "SHIFT TO P, RESTART ENGINE" AUTO STOP-START HAS STOPPED ENGINE. THEN ENGINE DOES NOT START EASY AND SUPTTERS AND DIES SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER TOLD ME NO CODES WERE RECORDED AND PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED BY DRIVING AROUND AND STOPPING. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN A 2 DAY DRIVE PULLING MY TRAILER.

TRUCK WILL VEER OFF ROAD UNLESS EXTREME CARE IS EXERCISED. 2.) TRANSMISSION LUGS ON ACCELERATION, PARTICULARLY @ 1100RPM AND 38MPH. 3.) HARD "CLUNK/THUMP" SENSATION AT LOW SPEEDS, CAUSING SEVERE "WHIP-LASH" ACTION TO OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE. 4.)WHEN TAKING SLOW LEFT TURN UP A STEEP INCLINE THE TRUCK LUGS AND TRANSMISSION FEEL LIKE IT IS SLIPPING AND UNABLE TO DOWNSHIFT, CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER AND MOMENTUM. 5.) THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,249.
ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2018 I PURCHASED A NEW 2018 FORD F150 5.0 V8. ON 02/16/2019 (4,546 MILES) AFTER THE FIRST OIL CHANGE IT BEGAN MAKING A KNOCKING LIKE NOISE. FORD SAID IT WAS NORMAL, BUT THE KNOCK WASN'T THERE BEFORE THE OIL CHANGE. FORD TRIED TO SAY IT WAS THE DIRECT INJECTION MAKING THE NOISE. WHICH MIGHT BE TRUE BUT OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE KNOCKING NOISES AND HAVE HAD SCORED CYLINDERS THAT REQUIRED THE ENGINE BLOCKS TO BE REPLACED BY FORD. ALSO ON 07/04/2019 (10,416 MILES) I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN COLD FROM 1200-2000 RPM. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS NOISE, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A TSB FOR THE RATTLING NOISE. ON 07/16/2019 I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER (FRIENDLY FORD IN LAS VEGAS) AND THE TSB WAS PREFORMED ON THE TRUCK (TSB# 18-2354) THE TSB DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. ON...

BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW AUGUST 28, 2018 AT 6000 MILES THE TRUCK CONSUMED 3 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL YES THAT'S 6000 MILES SINCE THEN THE TRUCKS HAD AN EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED 15 MONTHS LATER IT'S BURNED OVER 2 GALLONS OF OIL AND 26,000 MILES FORD REPLACE THE ENGINE AND IT'S BURNING MORE OIL NOW THAN IT EVER HAS IT BURNED 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN 1500 MILES
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES PER HOUR WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE MAINTENANCE SYMBOL CAME ON AND THE DRIVE FUNCTION ECO, TOW, WET ROAD AND SPORT WERE NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AFTER 5 MINUTES I STARTED IT UP AND ALL FUNCTIONS WERE NORMAL. I CONTINUED DRIVING TO MY DESTINATION AND HAD NO FURTHER INCIDENTS.
I BELIEVE THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE FREQUENTLY MAKES A LOUD BANG WHEN STARTED. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND I FEEL A THUD IN THE WHEEL WELL. IT'S LIKE THE CLUTCH IS FAILING OR SOMETHING? SHIFTING GEARS EXTREMELY ROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE YOU'RE JERKED AROUND. SOMETIMES, TO GET INTO GEAR, I HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RE-START. SOMETIMES THERE IS NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE (OR THE TRUCK IS OUT OF GEAR) FROM A STOP WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN CARS ARE BEHIND YOU OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE SIMPLY DROPS OUT OF GEAR AND 'D" (DRIVE) IS NOT AN OPTION. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. I'VE READ ABOUT A LOT OF OWNER COMMENTS THAT ARE IDENTICAL TO MINE. READING ALL THESE ISSUES COMPLETELY AGREE, THIS ISSUE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
2018 F-150 3.5 ECOBOOST MAKES A LOUD CLATTERING SOUND AFTER A COLD START. THE VEHICLE IS STILL STATIONARY AND THE SOUND LASTS BETWEEN 1-3 SECONDS. THIS WILL NOT OCCUR ON A WARM STARTUP, ONLY COLD. IT APPEARS TO BE VALVE TRAIN CLATTER COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THIS SAME PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED ON THE PREVIOUS GENERATION 3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINE AND APPARENTLY THIS PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE START UP SOUND IF NEEDED, BUT ITS WIDELY DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE WITH AUTO START STOP MODE DISABLED VIA THE DASHBOARD BUTTON, THE ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT OFF, A MESSAGE APPEARED ON DASHBOARD "AUTO START STOP SHIFT TO P, THEN RESTART ENGINE". THIS OCCURRED SEPTEMBER 14, 2019 AND OCTOBER 17, 2019. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SEPTEMBER 16, 2019. DEALERSHIP RETURNED VEHICLE STATING NOTHING WRONG, NO FAILURE CODES WERE STORED IN VEHICLE COMPUTER, NO RELATED SERVICE BULLETINS, UNABLE TO VERIFY COMPLAINT. THIS IS CLEARLY A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. ON INITIAL TAKE OFF, WHEN THE TRUCK SHIFTS THROUGH 1ST AND 6TH GEARS IT SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE SLOWS TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE NO POWER AND THEN SHIFTS. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS. HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE I CAN'T GET UP TO SPEED FAST ENOUGH TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS ON MOST OF THEIR ECOBOOST ENGINES AND THE 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION COMBINED. THIS TRUCK HAS THE 2.7L ECOBOOST ENGINE.

WHEN WILL FORD FIND THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE ISSUE CAUSES AN ACCIDENT?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD; HOWEVER, SHE MANAGED TO PARK THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE OIL PRESSURE AND ADDED OIL TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V672000 (ENGINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DON WOOD FORD LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 2065 E STATE ST, ATHENS, OH 45701, (740) 593-6642), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND SMOKE APPEARED COMING FROM THE LEFT TAIL PIPE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.*DT*JB
STARTED TO PULL THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AFTER MOVING ABOUT 5 FEET PULLING INTO THE INTERSECTION. A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH SCREEN ABOUT AUTO STARTSTOP AND THAT I NEEDED TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I SLOWLY ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THERE WERE NO MORE ISSUES ON THE REMAINING 25 MILE DRIVE. THE AUTOSTOP FEATURE HAD BEEN DISABLED VIA THE DASH SWITCH BEFORE EVER LEAVING HOME. THE SWITCH WAS STILL ILLUMINATED AMBER SHOWING THAT AUTOSTOP HAD IN FACT BEEN TURNED OFF MANUALLY BEFORE IT HAPPENED ON ITS OWN, WHILE UNDER POWER. WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING, THE POWER STEERING IS ALSO DISABLED. AFTER A BIT OF INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND VIA...
THE FIRST TIME THE ACCELERATION ON MY F150 STUCK, I WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD. I WAS BRAKING ON A DOWN HILL TO A STOP SIGN. I MADE SURE I WAS NOT DOUBLE PEDDLING AND THEN SLAMED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE. I HAD PLENTY OF SPACE BEFORE THE STOP SIGN AND SLAMMING THE BRAKE REGAINED THE CONTROL. I DID NOT REPORT THIS TO MY FORD DEALER. I DID NOT KNOW THAT IT WOULD BE AN ISSUE. APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS LATER THE TRUCK DID IT AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS BACKING UP AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE AGAIN. I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME OR SPACE TO REGAIN CONTROL AND I STRUCK A TREE, WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. IT CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE TAILGATE, BUMPER, LIGHT ASSEMBLY, AND PASSENGER SIDE BED FENDER. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND WALKED AWAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WHEN MY HUSBAND WENT...
FORD AUTOMATIC ENGINE OFF AT IDLE FEATURE CAUSES POWER STEERING FAILURE WHEN ACTIVE. WHEN ENGINE REACTIVATED UPON HITTING GAS THE POWER STEERING IS DELAYED. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN WAITING AT STOPLIGHTS FOR A TURN., ESPECIALLY A LEFT TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. REQUESTS TO FORD TO ALLOW DEACTIVATION OF THE FEATURE AS OPPOSED TO HAVING TO MANUALLY DISABLE IT EVERY TIME I ENTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IGNORED. THIS FEATURE CAN BE DANGEROUS AND THERE IS NO REASON FORD CAN'T REPROGRAM THE BYPASS. INSTEAD THEY CHOOSE TO IGNORE WHILE ALLOWING THIS DANGEROUS FEATURE TO REMAIN ACTIVE BY DEFAULT.
WHEN STARTING ENGINE IT WILL HIT VERY HARD SOUND LIKE THE TRANSMISSION BUT IN FACT IS CHAIN TENSIONER. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE SEEING A LOT OF THESE ISSUES WITH THE 5.0 THIS NEEDS ADDRESSED AS I'M LUCK ENOUGH THAT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (DIFFERENT TRIPS) WHILE PULLING A 21' CAMPER ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60-65 MPH, MY TRUCK WOULD IMMEDIATELY STALL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START IT AFTER GETTING GAS. I WOULD HAVE TO REV THE ENGINE IN ORDER TO KEEP IT RUNNING AND THEN A PROMINENT "CLUNK" WOULD SOUND WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE. IT RAN ROUGH INITIALLY BUT SEEMED TO OPERATE OKAY ONCE MOVING AND WOULD ONCE AGAIN DIE OUT IF THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RE-STARTED. LET IT SET FOR AN HOUR WHILE EATING AND IT'S OKAY.

THE TRUCKED SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND HAD TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN, WHEN IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND FELT LIKE WE HIT SOMETHING WHEN GOING 55 MPH,THE TRUCK JOLTED WE AGAIN GOT IN THE SLOW LANE. THEN WHEN SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MOTOR STARTED RACING ON ITS OWN NOT TOUCHING THE EXCELERATOR. HAD TO TURN OFF TRUCK. WE ARE AFRAID TO TAKE OUR GRANDKIDS IN OUR NEW 2018 TRUCK WE ARE PAYING...

MY TRUCK'S FUEL ECONOMY IN ANY DRIVING CONDITIONS IS NEVER BETTER THAN 11.9 MPG'S WHICH SHOULD BE AND WAS MUCH BETTER THAN THIS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. MY ENGINE KNOCKS. MY ENGINES WHINES AND WHISTLES. MY ENGINE IS DOWN ON POWER NOTICEABLY ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH MAKES DRIVING THE TRUCK DANGEROUS. ALL OF THIS FORD SAYS IS NORMAL. NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL UNLESS IT WAS A 1976 PINTO. THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD PERMANENTLY

THE FAILURE ALSO CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO SEIZE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000. *TT*JB
THIS NEW TRUCK'S, WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY OF 2019, 5.0 LITER ENGINE USED 2.5 QUARTS OF ENGINE OIL IN THE FIRST 3500 MILES. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT MY EXPENSE.
MY TRUCK HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE ACCELERATION WILL RUN AWAY FREQUENTLY (PRESS THE PEDAL AND THERE IS A SEVERE LAG AND LACK OF POWER). THERE WILL BE RANDOM ENGINE NOISE WHEN DECELERATING AROUND 45 MILES PER HOUR. ALSO, ACCELERATION WILL BE ROUGH WHEN GOING FROM 20-30 MILES PER HOUR JUST BEFORE THE IT SHIFTS INTO A HIGHER GEAR. I TOOK THIS TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES ON THE TRUCKS COMPUTER SYSTEM. ALSO, THE STEERING WILL BE STIFF OR UNALIGNED AT RANDOM TIMES. PLEASE ASSIST IN GETTING THESE ISSUES CORRECTED.
THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUT OFF ENGAGE. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS RELEASE THE ENGINE DID NOT START AND A MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE INFORMATION CENTER. CAN NOT QUOTE YOU THE EXACT MESSAGE BECAUSE IT WAS MORNING RUSH HOUR AND A LINE OF VEHICLES WERE BEHIND ME ANXIOUS TO MOVE. THE MESSAGE WAS INSTRUCTIONS WAS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS RESOLVED THE SITUATION BUT THE ENGINE SHOULD HAVE RESTARTED WITHOUT HAVING TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK.
ELECTRICAL WIRING. KNOW PROBLEM WITH RODENT (RATS) BEING ATTRACTED TO ALL CRITICAL WIRING AND DESTROYING. THIS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES AS WELL AS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO PAY MORE THAT $2000. IN DAMAGES ON A NEW (2018) VEHICLE. DAMAGE OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A NORMAL MANNER.
THERE IS AN ABNORMAL ENGINE "RATTLE" NOISE WHEN DECELERATING (LETTING OFF THROTTLE) BETWEEN 1000 AND 2000 RPMS. THIS HAS BEEN A FREQUENT COMPLAINT FROM 2018 FORD F-150 OWNERS WITH V8 5.0L ENGINES. RESPONSES FROM F150 OWNERS ON VARIOUS FORUMS ALL INDICATE VARIOUS EXPLANATIONS FROM FORD AS TO THE CAUSE FROM NORMAL ENGINE CHARACTERISTICS, REPLACING CAM PHASERS, REPLACING SOLENOIDS, AND BUYBACKS. A TSB WAS RELEASED IN NOVEMBER 2018 WITH NO KNOWN CASES ON ANY RELATED FORUMS OF THE TSB CORRECTING THE ABNORMAL ENGINE RATTLE NOISE. I HAVE HJAD THE TSB PERFORMED AND THE NOISE WAS CONTINUED TO BE PRESENT. THE CONCERN FROM MYSELF AND OTHER OWNERS IS THE UNKNOWN LONG TERM EFFECTS ON THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND/OR LIFE AND A CONTINUED LACK OF RESPONSE FROM FORD AS TO THE CAUSE OR RELEASE OF ANY FIXES. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK ON NOVEMBER 21, 2018.
USING THE AUTO START SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF NORMALLY AT A STOP LIGHT BUT DID NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE DIED AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED MANUALLY, CAUSING VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO SUDDENLY BRAKE IN ANTICIPATION OF ME GOING FORWARD.
AFTER TOWING A TRAILER FOR SOME MILES (130 OR SO IN THIS CASE) THE VEHICLE STALLS/DIES AFTER PULLING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THIS REPEATED ITSELF MULTIPLE TIMES (7 IN ONE TOWN) AND TWICE IN ANOTHER TOWN BEFORE GETTING HOME. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE AUTO STOP FEATURE ENABLED AND DISABLED. SYSTEM CHIMED AT EACH OCCURENCE AND INDICATED THAT DRIVER SHOULD PUT TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN IGNITION KEY.
VEHICLE IS A 2018 F-150 WITH THE 5.0 V-8. WHEN THE ENGINE IS FIRST STARTED AFTER A LONG PERIOD, IT WILL EXHIBIT AN ENGINE RATTLE NOISE WHEN LETTING OF THE GAS PEDAL BETWEEN 1500 RPM TO 800 RPM AND SOMETIMES WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING. ONCE THE ENGINE GETS TO OPERATING TEMP, THE NOISE GOES AWAY. THE TRUCK MUST BE IN GEAR AND UNDER LOAD, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE TSB 18-2354 PREFORMED WITH NO SUCCESS.
AFTER A PERIOD OF TOWING A 5200# TRAILER THE 2.7L ECOBOOST ENGINE WOULD STALL WHEN NOT THROTTLING. MEANING, ANYTIME SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING THE ENGINE WOULD CUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, FORCING A MANUAL RESTART. THE TRUCK DID RESTART IF THE THROTTLE WAS HELD IN PUSHING GAS AND THEN THROWING THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE GEAR TO MOVE, HOWEVER THE THROTTLE WOULD HAVE TO CONTINUE TO BE PUSHING IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN POWER. THIS OCCURRED AT 30+ MPH IN SLOWING DOWN FOR ACCIDENT/CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC AS WELL AS EVERY TIME STOPPING FOR LIGHTS OR GAS. ISSUE OCCURRED MANY TIMES DURING TRIP, BUT ONLY WHILE TOWING. AFTER DISCONNECTING TRAILER AND ALLOWING VEHICLE TO COOL/REST FOR AN HOUR ISSUE DID NOT RETURN UNTIL AFTER RUNNING WITH TRAILER BEING TOWED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AGAIN.
5.0 HAS A DISTINCT RATTLING NOISE AT LOWER RPM'S. THE ENGINE ALSO HAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHICH IS DIFFERENT FROM THE RATTLING NOISE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE GAS PEDAL TEMPORARILY STICKING AND THE ENGINE HAS A MISS. ALSO WAY DOWN ON FUEL ECONOMY AT 11MPG'S. THIS VEHICLE IS 3 MONTHS OLD AND DEALERSHIP SAYS AND (FORD CORPORATE SUPPORTS DEALERSHIP) THAT I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANY ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS REGARDING MY 5.0 ENGINE PROBLEMS
TRUCK SHUTS OFF WHEN PULLING A CAMPER AND WILL NOT RUN AFTER RESTART UNLESS YOU REV THE ENGINE AND QUICKLY PULL THE SHIFTER INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWS 'AUTO STARTSTOP SHIFT TO P, THEM RESTART ENGINE.' THIS HAS CAUSED MANY NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WHEN YOU TRY TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION OR PULL AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN.
