The cam phasers in the engine have a failure/malfunction and risk of engine damage and performance. No warning lamps are on for the this failure yet, only a very noticeable noise on startups. It has been to a dealership to be confirmed. This is the same known issue as the other 3.5 ecoboost F-150 engines in the 2017 -2018 years, I am not sure what made my VIN not fit the requirements. Bulletins 21B10,21N03,21N08 I believe are all related.

This vehicle started rattling upon cold start. It has only 43K miles on it. When looking into the situation it has been a defect of this vehicle as well as many other years that Ford has failed to own up to. This rattle is due to a cam phaser pin that breaks loose and can dislodge at any time and cause the vehicle to seize up. Another owner had this happen on the freeway at 70 mph. Ford claims it is “not dangerous” but obviously it is. It costs the owners anywhere from $4500-$6500 to fix. Our local service department advised us they have “fixed hundreds of these”. PLEASE STEP IN AND HAVE FORD ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT AND CORRECT IT VIA RECALL. This is dangerous and expensive for owners. Thank you!

In November, dealership sends out a tech to perform a PCM Recall on my truck. 110,000 miles and never had a problem with it. After recall, check engine light comes on after less than 10 miles of driving. Tech returns, runs his program and says maybe this will fix it. Less than 200 miles of driving, check engine light comes on again. Third attempt with tech, runs program, says there is nothing he can do. Dealership says there is nothing they can do except run diagnostics for a fee. Contact Ford corporate, they give the same nothing they can do except run diagnostics for a fee. I refuse. No problems at all with my truck until they performed the PCM recall issued by Ford. Just so happens this problem is being reported on Reddit app by several other Ford owners, but “there’s nothing Ford can do.”

Plastic two piece oil pan installed by factory with insufficient RTV resulting in a significant oil leak and possible fire potential as run back of oil reaches exhaust components. Vehicle is well kept and serviced regularly with less than 100k miles. Vehicle is out of warranty and down time is several days for a fix that results in using the same plastic oil pan with an estimate of $1200. Unfortunately this same oil pan will result in a similar leak in the future if fixed. Aftermarket aluminum options are available which result in a much better sealing surface. FORD please fix this issue. Oil leaking from pan first noticed during stops at red lights while idling and smelling burning oil thru vents. Ford dealer confirmed oil pan leak and suggested immediate replacement.

The car has very bad cam phasers that are a manufacturing issue from ford. This is causing a lot of damage to the engine and also it has put me in very dangerous situations because of the huge decrease in power when I am exiting into a highway or changing lanes. I have spoke to ford and they did not want to help me especially when they have had multiple recalls for this in the past and even extended recalls. Please help me with this, because it's a big issue and it's a manufacturing problem from ford.

The 2018 F-150 has a huge oil consumption problem, constantly having to add oil after several hundred miles driving the truck, at a minimum a qt at a time. The F-150 10speed transmisson also has a hard shift and jerks while shifting gears, after it warms up it the harshness of the hard shift goes away but still has the hard shifts. There is no warning lights on the dash, and it can be reproduced. Have on several occasions with the hard shifting almost caused several accidents being rear ended due to the truck not shifting out of gears as it should. Along with several times on the interstate after having to stop for other accidents and the truck not getting back up up to speed as it should.

Formal Complaint Regarding Recall 24E12 and Related Emissions System Failure I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my recent experience related to Ford Recall 24E12 Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Reprogramming for Emissions Compliance, and the subsequent failure of my vehicle's emissions system immediately following this recall service. The work was performed at Donley Ford 702 Charles St, Galion, OH 44833. On March 12, 2025, I took my vehicle in for the mandated Recall 24E12, which involves reprogramming the PCM to improve emissions component monitoring. Prior to this service, my vehicle exhibited no issues whatsoever, the check engine light was not on, and the vehicle operated perfectly. However, just a few days after the recall service (and with fewer than 5 miles driven post-service), I started my vehicle and was immediately met with a check engine light. I contacted the dealership service department and spoke with a representative who...

The engine system on this vehicle experienced multiple failures, including severe knocking, power loss, and potential oil-related malfunctions. Despite repeated service visits to the authorized Ford dealership, the problem persisted. The dealership performed multiple repairs, but the issue was never fully resolved. The vehicle has been undrivable for over a year, during which I have had to rely on rental cars, borrowed vehicles, and eventually purchased cash vehicles to commute — all while continuing to pay for the truck. This is a severe financial and safety burden for a vehicle sold as reliable. To this day, no clear resolution has been offered, and Ford’s internal support has repeatedly deflected responsibility or referred me to scripted call center processes. The vehicle remains parked, unable to be driven due to fear of catastrophic failure or causing harm to myself or others on the road. The engine should be fully inspected, and the...

I was stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded to press the gas and turn into the far lane. A quarter to halfway through the turn the engine shut off and I got the message “ Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine”. Had to put the vehicle in park in the middle of the road and restart the engine. Luckily no one was coming but if there had been I could have been hit.

Sudden down shift at highway speeds while pulling a trailer followed by immediate engine oil pressure loss. I got out and checked engine oil level and it was okay also there was no oil leaks. I tried to restart engine and it would not restart.
#11653032 |
I had repeated issues with sudden downshifts while driving starting around 80,000 miles. By 83,000 miles it was doing it weekly or more frequently. It would shift down to first gear no matter what gear it was in. I would have trouble getting it to shift back even if I stopped and turned it off or tried the manual’s “fix” of pressing the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time for at least 30 seconds. I paid $2300 to fix a transmission barely past 80,000 miles. Besides the safety issue, the impact on daily life in general is a mess. Ford should have to recall all recent years and fix or repay the customers like me who had to pay Ford to fix their defects.

Hello, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to follow up on an ongoing issue with my vehicle related to the recall 21B10. I recently purchased a 2018 F150 in November 2024, and I’ve encountered significant problems with the vehicle that I believe are tied to the recall. Specifically, the vehicle is experiencing issues with acceleration, which has made it unsafe to drive, especially on the interstate. When I took my vehicle to Ford in Mooresville, NC, they diagnosed the problem as an error code 21B10. Upon contacting Ford on March 28, 2025, I was informed that the recall had been addressed in February 2022. However, I was advised that the case cannot be reopened, and that it would need to go for review. Given the critical nature of the issue I am experiencing, I am concerned about my safety while driving the vehicle. The acceleration problems...

My cam phasers are always burning and consuming a lot of oil it also has a ticking sound coming from the engine which Ford says is normal but I don't think it's normal because it gets louder and it happens as I drive all the time. My transmission will automatically slam into a higher gear while trying to accelerate on the highway. Oil is constantly getting into the spark plug chamber even after replacement of seals.
#11651297 |
When accelerating to highway speeds, my truck downshifts a gear or 2. This has been happening for the past year since I purchased the truck. When I try to accelerate to 60 MPH from 50 it is really hesitant after downshifting.
#11651115 |
Upon cranking the truck the cam phasers make a rattling noise. The issue is the same as it is in the recall 21B10 that affects the F-150's but excludes the Raptor.
