The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (POWER TRAIN) as possibly related to the failure. The vehicle was driven to a local dealer for a recall repair. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven back to the residence, but the failure worsened. The vehicle was driven back to the dealer. The dealer denied the repair and stated that there were no issues with the vehicle. The contact stated that the additional issues were associated with the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 264,711.
My 2014 F-150 with the 5.0 is currently at the ford dealership getting the output speed sensor replaced in the transmission. This is already a recall item on the vehicle, however it is not showing up as a recall fix. This will send your truck into “limp mode” causing you to have to pull over in unsafe spots on the road in order to shut the vehicle off. And back on to get the truck to drive correctly. I am now responsible for paying for this replacement, when it’s clearly a manufactured error
I had the factory recall done at a local dealership. The ensured me the programming was completed to solve the down shifting of gears while driving. It’s been a couple years since the reprogramming and I still have problems with the truck downshifting at different speeds. It also indicates the wrench on the screen and makes all the gauges including the screen, stop working. During acceleration, if you are merging and need extra speed, the truck stops accelerating and slows down. The only way to reset the wrench on the screen is to stop the vehicle immediately and shut it off until the mileage indicator shows the mileage the vehicle has. Several posts online indicate the same issues for those who own the F150. Driving on the freeway at freeway speeds the truck shifted into first gear while traveling at 75 mph. The tires skidded and the truck jerked hard...
When driving, the truck will down shift or won’t to shift up at all. After turning the vehicle off, it seems to resolve itself after you turn it back on. Unless the orange light to indicate gear won’t appear. Then vehicle won’t start when the gear can’t be indicated, leaving myself or family members stranded. It refuses to start in neutral as well. I took the vehicle to Car x. I have no check engine nor do I have any transmission codes. I was told it may be a pcm to transmission problem and to check for recalls. My vehicle doesn’t show on the recall list but is showing symptoms of a recall listed.
NHTSA Investigation PE24010 (or related transmission downshift probes.. Safety Risk: the vehicle unexpectedly downshifts and locks rear wheels, creating an immediate life-threatening risk on the highway. Dealer Response: dealer claimed their "computer doesn't pick up anything," as this helps investigators understand that the diagnostic tools are failing to detect the fault. VIN Number: [XXX] Dealer Record: that Grieco Ford performed the recall update and that the issue persists. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving, the truck suddenly shifted into 3rd gear. I stopped the vehicle, put it into park, shut the engine off, restarted the truck, put it back into drive and it immediately went into 3rd gear. I was unable to get the transmission to work properly so I had it towed to the dealership where I bought it.
When driving 2014 Ford F-150 STX crew cab 4 door 4wd in either 2WD or 4WD at cruising speed on highway 55 mph to 65 mph either in cruise control or not with gas pedal steady the vehicle randomly drops from 6th gear to 3rd gear. I had the local Ford Dealer already perform the software update from the recall but it did not resolve the issue. After a few months of driving with this problem continuing I left the vehicle with the Ford Dealer to see if they could reproduce the problem. They claimed they never could reproduce the problem and that the vehicle never generated any fault codes.
My 2014 Ford F150 has a safety recall 24s37 due to the transmission violently down shifting the truck had the reprogram done in 24 that supposively would fix the issue now the truck has code p0720 and is violently downshifting on interstate almost causing accidents and need the ledframe replaced attached to this safety recall and known issue. F0rd told me since it had reprogram done even though part is failing they can't fix the issue. That is insane since it's a huge safety issue and the reprogram was definitely not a long term fix it needs to be fixed before this causes me to have a accident. This is my only means of vehicle and needs to be fixed right .
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while shifting into reverse or drive, the vehicle seemed to be in neutral and failed to move. The vehicle failed to shift into gear. The wrench symbol was displayed. After resetting the codes, there was an abnormal squealing sound. The engine light was illuminated. The vehicle went into safe mode. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that a diagnostic test was needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was previously reprogrammed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was contacted and was referred to the local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 220,288.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the remedy failed to fix the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after the recall repair was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 191,000.
Transmission would downshift unexpectedly causing me to brake and panic, the tool icon will come on dash, speedometer stops working and backup camaras failed, transmission locked up on highway and caused driveshaft to lock back tires. All around dangerous situation
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light, the wrench warning light, and the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the speedometer failed to function as intended. The speedometer indicated 0 MPH while driving. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. After the vehicle was restarted, the wrench warning light was no longer illuminated. The contact continued to drive, and while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The wrench warning light intermittently illuminated, and the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond as needed while driving. The vehicle was taken to a collision center. The contact was provided the following codes: P1500-00, P0722-00, P0721-00, P0304-00, and P0151-00. The contact stated...
I had the OSS software recall completed a few months ago. Software fix is suppose to prevent automatic downshifting to 1st gear when traveling in higher gears. I am now having slipping/engine shudder when accelerating in higher gears. More than likely the lead frame will need to be replaced and my independent mechanic has said this should have been the fix initially, not just a software update. (Same models from 2011-2013 have had this recall implemented, but the 2014 has not been included for some reason.)
I experienced an abrupt downshift while driving ~60 mph and the speedometer/odometer quit working, an orange wrench light appeared, and the engine light came on. My vehicle had Ford recall 24S37 open, which relates to the OSS and a symptom is an abrupt downshift. I took the truck to the local Ford dealer. They indicated that there were no codes showing- which I am suspicious of given the issues I experienced and I had a private reader read the truck after the recall programming and it did show an O2 sensor code- P0131 and at one point a P0722 code. The Ford dealer performed only the programming as part of the recall. After the recall programming, the truck experienced additional abrupt downshifts. I had to take the truck in again and pay for them to read the code even though I had the codes. After reading the code they indicated...
Took in my vehicle to my local Ford Dealership after I experineced sudden downshift of the transmission and getting stuck in 1st gear. I asked for a reantal vehicle or a loaner to which they said, it would depend whether or not there would be any PCM related codes that came back after connecting the car. According to them no codes came back, and explained to me that, that being the case that they would just need to reprogram my PCM. The next day I went and picked up my truck, and after just about roughly 7 miles into driving, I started experiencing sudden downshift again and my truck started slowing down rapidly almost causing an accident and getting rear ended. I was able to pull over and noticed this time my truck had gotten stuck in 4th gear. I was able to drive it back to the dealership and...
There was a sudden downshift at 50mph and a wrench icon showed up on my truck. I used on OBDII scanner and the codes p0706 and p0707 showed up. My safety was put at risk because I could have been hit in the rear and my rear tire locked up. I got the repairs done for a leadframe install. Is there any way I can get reimbursed for the repairs made, because this was once a recalled issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and the rear wheels locked up. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train); however, the recall repair failed to prevent the failure from occurring. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately 8 months after the recall repair. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not identified. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 6th to 4th gear. The contact stated that there was a screeching sound coming from underneath the vehicle. Additionally, the power train warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle spun out of control; however, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and then pulled over to the side of the road. The contact attempted to shift the gear lever, and the gear shifter failed to function as intended. The contact switched to manual mode and was able to use the first, second, and third gears, and the vehicle limped to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician performed the powertrain control module software update. The contact asked the dealer if the transmission was repaired, and the dealer refused to repair the transmission, stating that the...
My truck was recalled. Software updated to correct a sudden downshift to 1st. The software update did not correct the problem. The software update was done TWICE. The Dealer said: "Software update doesn't always fix the sudden downshift problem, unfortunately. You will have to pay to correct the sudden downshift problem. Replacing the rails should fix it. Estimate repair would be about 1300.00 " It ended up costing me $1246.79 to repair the "sudden downshift" (which was the reason for the Safety Recall Notice 24S37 / NHTSA Recall 24V444, in the first place) Ford should be forced to reimburse me for paying for the powertrain Safety Recall 24V444, as the software download didn't work and doesn't always work, despite Ford's knowledge of this issue. Their responsibility doesn't end there. I called Ford Customer Service, and they were not helpful.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The contact stated that the RPM was raised above 3,000 RPM. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission lead frame module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
While driving the 2014 F150, it will down to randomly into first and then also lose power while accelerating between second and third or second and fourth for a brief period of time.
I recieved a Text message months after this happened. They knew about it a month prior. I could have saved alot if they had done there job. Nit following procedures. It says in writing. I was coming to a intersection, proceeding to stop, and it would not let me. I was standing on the brake peddle with both feet( I am 275lb, 6'7 ,) I ran into back of van, was Sued, and my insurance went up. I lost not one but 2 raptors to the same issue. The second one I rolled. 2012

After receiving a call from Mullinax Ford in Mobile, AL regarding a recall for our 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor (recall related to unexpected downshifting), I brought the vehicle to my workplace on [XXX], where a technician performed the software update (flash) on-site. Before the update, the vehicle was functioning without issue. That same evening while driving home, I experienced extremely hard downshifting, initially in lower gears, and worsening over time. The truck now violently downshifts, primarily into 4th gear, and sounds as if the transmission is slipping. I drove the truck again the next morning and the symptoms persisted. I contacted Zachary, the original representative at the dealership, who said it may be part of the “relearning” process. My husband drove it a week later after returning from a business trip and he confirmed the issue. It has progressively worsened to the point of being undrivable. We returned the truck...
I was driving about 75mph when my 2014 Ford F150 suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 2nd. As a result of the unexpected downshift, my body was pushed into the steering wheel, and the rear end of the truck slid sideways as it slowed down to 65mph. The truck had a loss of power and I couldn’t accelerate. When I pulled over on the side of the highway, I used my code reader to read the codes that came up. The codes that came up pointed to Powertrain Control Module. When I looked at the PCM, it said P0720, Output Speed Sensor. I looked up the issue online and found that there is an open recall on the 2014 Ford F150 with the 6R80 transmission, and the recall is the issue I stated above. I went to two different Ford dealerships and they said that my vin isn’t listed under...

Transmission shutter around 45 mph
Ford supposedly repaired my truck via recall 24S37 on June 6 2025. However, while driving at approx 65 mph 2 days later, my truck downshifted again to first gear. This went on for another 2 weeks until I took it back to Crossroads Ford in Henderson NC again and they notated that I have a code P1500 AND CODE p0722 WHICH IS A LEAD FRAME IN TRANSMISSION ISSUE but they did not repair it..AGAIN. It is currently at the same dealership and they called me from Dearborn MI to inform me that I am not covered. It is a 2014 with 308,000 miles. I am relegated to driving 30 mph if I am to drive it as shifting down is unsafe. The issue is that it is a Ford defect even if I am at 308k and they refuse to rectify my issue so that my family can ride safely....
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his daughter-in-law was driving at undisclosed speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and caused the rear wheels to lock up. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The dealer completed the software update. The contact stated that the failure persisted after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My 2014 F150 XLT experienced recall S4S37. I brought the truck in for the recall after experience a sudden downshift into 1st gear while driving at 70mph. The PCM software update was installed during my first visit to my local Ford Dealership (Team Fod in Steubenville, OH). The issue occurred once more after the PCM update and team ford dismissed me after they could not replicate the issue. The sudden downshift happened twice more and I was again dismissed as team ford could not replicate the issue. After the downshift had occurred 4-6x, team ford reached out to Ford Support AT MY REQUEST to resolve the issue. They informed me I should consider replacing the lead frame. With the ongoing recall issues of the 2011-2013 F150s (which included a lead frame replacement as part of the recall), this should have been recommended at my first appointment. The sudden downshift continued...

Me and my wife was going 45 mph down the road and it downshift to 1s 2nd gear out the blue almost causing a driver to almost rear end us scared us to death so we pulled over when we could, no lights on dash nothing once we stopped it will be good for awhile then happen again. The dealer said he took it to the Ford dealership he couldn't have cause it's still do say he couldn't recreate what is was doing, but the dealer drove it and it did it to him.

The contact was informed that the recall repair was performed; however, the transmission had been damaged and needed to be replaced and was not...
There is a serious issue with what Ford is doing to fix a known problem with their transmissions shifting into 1st gear while at highway speed. This happened to me after they put in their software "Patch" that was their idea of how to fix the problem. I have up loaded a detailed explanation of what happened to me with Ford and their safety recall. I also have any bills and cost to me to fix Ford's safety recall.

The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and regained normal transmission operation. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who advised the contact that the PCM software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was downshifting unexpectedly but was only downshifting to third gear. The contact stated that the "WRENCH" symbol was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and DTC P0722 (Output Shaft Speed Sensor, No Signal) was retrieved. The contact was advised that the leadframe on the transmission...
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the transmission remained stuck in first gear. The contact stated that the service vehicle warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train); but the failed to fix the vehicle. The vehicle was currently in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part needed to repair the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 120,787.
Major transmission failure that causes sudden unintended downshift to first gear, even at high speeds. This occurs often and randomly without warning, causing the engine to "redline", rear tires to slide and the vehicle to come to a near sudden stop. This is an extreme safety concern, especially in slippery road conditions as the vehicle could overturn or slide off the road or at a minimum be rear-ended for suddenly stopping unexpectedly on a freeway. This is a widely known problem by Ford. The local Ford service manager admitted that his 2013 F150 has the same issue and he continues to drive it because he tried fixing it by replacing the Molded Lead Plate in the transmission and that didn't resolve the problem. Remember, I noted this is a Ford Service Manager! Ford has issued a recall (24S37); however, the prescribed solution is to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)...
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure was acknowledged, and the dealer performed a software update that the contact was informed would solve the failure. Despite the software update, the failure worsened upon return of the vehicle. The contact then reached out to another dealer that stated that the software update was no longer performed due to the update worsening the failure. The dealer refused to service the vehicle and directed the contact back to the original dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.

After recall 24S37 was performed on my Ford F-150 to address potential sudden downshifting to first gear, my truck began experiencing serious transmission issues that had never occurred prior. The recall required PCM reprogramming, and immediately afterward, the vehicle started hard shifting and unexpectedly downshifting at highway speeds (one example 5th to 3rd gear and also while passing or decelerating). This was alarming and unsafe. Before this recall, the transmission operated perfectly with no symptoms, warning lights, or signs of malfunction. I returned the truck to the Ford dealership that performed the recall. Their road test confirmed the issue, and they diagnosed it as damage to the overdrive clutch. However, they stated the damage was “likely present before” the recall work—despite no prior symptoms—and recommended full transmission replacement at a cost of nearly $10,000, which I declined. The issue clearly began immediately after Ford’s recall remedy and fits the exact...
On July of 2024 I received a Safety Recall notice 24S37/NHTSA Recall 24V444. I had no issues but I went to have my vehicle verified for recall and Duval Ford said I did. After I had the recall repair was done my truck began acting erratic so I took it back to Duval Ford three times before my truck became undrivable. On 1/10/2025 Duval Ford Could not dispute my Claim. They repaired my transmission and every time I drive my truck i feel that I may have the same issues as stated in the recall letter. The didn't want to give me a warranty I only got a 12 month or 12 k miles warranty. I feel that they did not see the seriousness of the situation and I want other to know the impact that this could have on their lives.Thank you for being there for the consumer.
[XXX] was driving the 2014 F150 on a multi lane state road in the afternoon on a sunny and dry afternoon. The vehicle was traveling straight with steady traffic at an intense rate of speed (approximately 45-50 mph) when it all of a changed gears and became difficult for the [XXX] to control, causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail. There was no contributing factors to the accident other than the vehicle's malfunction (i.e. no negative weather, road signals, other vehicles, animal or plant obstructions, intersections, driver error, etc.). At the time of the impact, all of the vehicle's airbags deployed and the driver's seatbelt locked in place. There were no personal injuries - only property damage to the outside of the vehicle, the airbags and seatbelt. Thus far, Ford has refused to replace the airbags, seatbelt/repair the vehicle's property damage despite repeated requests. Ford only fixed the software...

Just seen about recall of f150 shifting problem. On a recent trip my 2014 f150 did exactly that. While making an right turn onto a street as it shifted it jerked pretty bad, scared the heck out of me. as I drove it would not shift out of 3rd gear. I had to drive several miles before I could pull over, My display showed a wrench on the screen. I turned off the engine and let it cool down, started it again. The wrench icon did not come on. It seemed to drive normal after that. I'm not sure this problem is with this year as well. I have not had it looked at by any shop.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150.
