Crank but no start. Found fuse 27 melted. This fuse supplies power to the fuel pump relay which gives the fuel pump power to run. The melted fuse had lost its connectivity. The fuse is a 20 amp. The fuse was not blown. Unable to determine the cause of the heat to melt the fuse. I searched YouTube and found that this is a common problem with the f150 with the range of 2010 to 2014. Also found that several parts dealers offer a F27 fuse relocation kit as a work around for the problem. The incident happened at home where I was able to research the problem. What if I got stranded in the middle of nowhere, no cell service, and 25 below zero? Worse yet, could this hot spot start a fire under the hood? Why there has not been a recall on this fuse is beyond reasoning...
WHILE TRAVELING ON I 75 TO FLORIDA ENGINE CK LIGHT ACTIVATED. WAS A CAUTIONARY LIGHT. UPON GETTING TO FL TOOK MY TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER WHO FOUND THAT BOTH FUEL PUMPS HAD FAILED. I NOW SEE FORD IS RECALLING F-150 TRUCKS DUE TO FAULTY FUEL PUMPS. I BELIEVE ALL F-150 TRUCKS SHOULD BE UNDER THE RECALL. DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND HAVING THE ENGINE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEED IS DANGEROUS AND VERY NERVE WRACKING.
First occurrence with my F-150 STX driving home from work. Started my truck and got a block and a half away and the truck stopped accelerating and completely shut off. All the lights and engine was off. I drifted to the side of the road to avoid traffic causing a traffic pile up and confusion. Being overwhelmed I waited for about 20 minutes then started it and drove home. No lights or check engine lamps on. Having a couple days of normal driving and normal function. I drove again but this time I was going into the freeway halfway up the onramp the truck dies again! This time making it completely unsafe and potentially fatal. Fuse 27, a known problem with the 12th generation F150, manufactured from 2009-2014, burned through in my truck melting the fuse block in the process. The fuse block in question is the main fuse block located toward the front of the engine bay near the radiator. This resulted in a no start condition while parked in a parking lot. I was required to purchase Ford’s repair kit for their engineering problem and relocate the fuse to a new spot in the fuse block. If this had happened while driving, I fear my truck could have resulted in an electrical fire with my family inside. Please consider requiring Ford to issue a safety recall for this incredibly dangerous situation.
It shifts weird but it’s still unsafe
Reference Tracking # 11622306. I purchased my used F150 with 52,956 miles on 1/3/2020. Shortly after, I would occasionally notice an unusual gear downshift. Upon receiving Ford Recall 24S37 (NHTSA 24V444000) update for the powertrain control module, the check engine lite (CEL) came on. I called the Ford Recall ph#, and they told me to continue to work with the dealership that performed the update. Several times I returned to the dealership, they would reset it with diagnostics, yet repeatedly the P0299 code would return each time. Prior to the CEL coming on, the CEL was preceded by a stall on acceleration on small hill inclines, and worsened fuel mileage, and typically after towing my trailer. These things didn't occur before the update was installed. (Attachments)
Throttle Body has failed 3 times. I am on my 4th one. 1st at 28k, 2nd 59k, 3rd 100k. Engine completely shuts down at high speed. Extremely dangerous, especially when towing. No warning given. Just stops running . Wrench icon appears on dash. Then engine shuts down immediately.
OK, the first problem would be that there was a fuse, apparently, that was engineered too small and eventually would burn up, making a bad connection, which would. all of a sudden shut your engine off. Mel, I was at highway speed, doing 6570 miles an hour, and all of a sudden my engine just cut right out. no power steering, no nothing. just shut right off wouldn't exactly call that a safe situation. Poor engineering second issue would be the fact that you have obvious engineering problems with the fact that they're putting carbon based steel parts or studs in the exhaust manifold that are obviously just going to rot away and it costs thousands to have that problem taken care of. Obviously you don't put that type of steel in an aluminum product because it's not going to last. It's everyone. Everyone knows this. So that's about about...
Two issues. The first issue arose due to a leak in the "y" pipe under the air box. Upon replacing that connector, the throttle body had to be removed to get room to reinstall. Upon reinstallation of the throttle body, the truck falls into limp mode unexpectedly during normal driving, in traffic. Installed ned throttle body from parts store and still throws the p2112 code.
My truck stalled and died while entering an intersection. I was nearly broadsided by another vehicle. We both could have been KILLED. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE. Ford is well aware issue and has issued a TSB about it to their dealers. It is called a FUSE 27 in the Ford f150’s and it causes IMMEDIATE LOSS of power and potentially control. The power steering and brakes are effected. Someone is or more likely has been killed because of this. Please do your job. Events like this that are KNOWN by the manufacture should be IMMEDIATELY addressed.
Critical failure of the 6R80 transmission oil cooler lines causing rapid loss of control of speed and drivability.
Vehicle will go into limp mode as if the throttle body is not working properly. I have to coast to the side of the road ,turn off engine and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes before restarting.
This has happened twice now. Driving to work accelerating after a red light and the truck losses all power, but stays running. To get it to operate normal you have to pull over shift into park, turn the truck off and wait a couple of moments. The truck will retire and drive like nothing happened. Trick has 78k miles and always maintained at local ford dealer
Vehicle got stuck in the snow. Tried getting vehicle out and almost had it free when I noticed the temperature gauge rising. I then shut the vehicle down and was calling for help for 10 minutes then noticed a flame come out of the engine bay. Yelled for my family to get out. Me and my wife rushed to get our kids out of the vehicle and down the road. The cab and engine bay are gone. I don’t know what caused the fire but it needs to be figured out my family was endangered.

AAA, did not get a tow, a nice Samaritan called the police to which we had to pay out of pocket for a tow which showed up in 10 minutes. (sent receipt for tow to AAA reimbursement 30 - 60 days). Dealership indicated this was in the mechanic notes, known problem for this FORD 150 ENGINE. Found in above url's Describing everything to a t of what the mechanics did to fix it. Truck turn over no start. Ford forum fuse 27 issue. My fuse 27 melted, replaced and truck started. Tsb 15-137. Fuse 27 relocation kit. Forum stated dealer install is $400. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
On 12-26-21 tried to start truck, It cranked but did not start. called for a tow to the dealer. while waiting on tow I looked up fuse information to the fuel pump. after locating fuse that controls power to fuel pump relay I pulled fuse and it was burnt on one side of the prong. I called off tow and got home and did some research for this problem seems 09 thru 14 this particular 20amp fuse is being over heated. I also found a service bulletin 15-0137 on a ford site, and its stating that a ( Fuel Pump Fuse Relocation Kit ) in which I have to pay $270 for. I believe this is fire hazard and a safety because if this fuse is blown while driving it will shut down the vehicle. When driving, twice power has cut out with the vehicle without warning. I was also unable to start the vehicle on one occasion - it cranked but did not fire. Traced the problem to a melted #27 fuse in the engine bay, which is a known issue with these vehicles apparently.
Truck looses power and throttle response when accelerating into traffic or driving on the highway. My vehicle was nearly hit from behind when faster moving vehicles came upon it. And almost caused a head on collision do to vehicles driving around me. This has happened several times. Vehicle has a pending code p2112 but if ignition is turned off code does not store in vehicle computer. Took vehicle to Ford dealership but was told nothing could be done to repair the vehicle since the code wasn’t stored in the computer
I WAS PULLING A EMPTY TRAILER AND IT STARTED DOWN SHIFTING AT 35-45 MPH I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING THEN BACK TO DRIVE TO GEAR UP IT DID IT AROUND 75 MPH THE FIRST TIME AND WI5H A TRAILER HAD TO COME TO A HAUNTING STOP ON A HIGHWAY IT'S IN THE PAST HOUR DONE IT 5 TIMES .... THERE'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FUSE #27 OVERHEATING AND CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO STOP WORKING. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH. IT AFFECTS MANY YEARS PRIOR TO 2014. THIS IS SERIOUS AS IT CAN LEAVE PEOPLE STRANDED. WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD, THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND SERVICE WRENCH CAME ON. I PULLED TO SIDE OF A 2 LANE RD AND COASTED TO A STOP. TURNED THE CR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND CODE WAS GONE. I DROVE FOR ABOUT 4 MINUTES AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER AGAIN. THIS REPEATED ABOUT 4 TIMES AS I WAS IN A MOUNTAIN AREA WITH NO CELL SERVICE. I HAD TO TO KEEP TRYING TO COAST AS FAR AS I COULD TO FIND SERVICE. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF STALLING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO GET CELL SERVICE AND CONTACT HELP. AT 1AM WE GOT A TOW TO THE DEALER THAT JUST REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED TO THE SERVICE JUST PERFORMED AND WE HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY. THE ITEM WAS REPLACED.

IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN ON 06/25/20 WITH 47.5K MILES WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO MAIN ROAD ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT AND SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. THROUGH ADVICE WE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD KNOWLEDGE AND ADMITTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WE HAD SOLD THE HOUSE AND WERE MOVING. TRUCK WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF HOUSE WITH TRAVEL TRAILER ATTACHED TO HITCH. PREPARING TO DRIVE AWAY, AND HAD NO BRAKES. CHECKED BRAKE FLUID AND HAD NONE. DUE TO THE FUSE BOX BEING IS LOCATED ABOVE THE RADIATOR, IT IS EXPOSED TO DIRECT HEAT, AND CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FUSE TO COMPLETELY MELT. THIS CAUSED MY TRUCK TO COMPLETELY DIE TWICE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I DROVE MY F-150 ECCOBOOST TRUCK TO THE SNOW, SAME AREA I HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND SUDDENLY SMOKE BURST FROM THE ENGINE, THEN FLAMES SHOT OUT AROUND THE HOOD, POPPED THE HOOD AND FOUGHT THE FIRE FOR HALF AN HOUR, IT KEPT RESTATING. IT STRANDED MYSELF AND CHILDREN, AND WE HAD A HARROWING EXPERIENCE THAT WAS PRETTY DICEY. FORD HAD JUST PUT IN A NEW ENGINE, AT MY COST, +14,000.00, AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED, SHUT OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND OIL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO AUFFENBERG FORD (115 REGENCY PARK, O'FALLON, IL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, A FUSE NEEDED TO BE RELOCATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. THIS HAPPENED ON A BACK ROAD BUT IF IT HAD OCCURRED ON A TWO LANE ROAD WHILE PASSING IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. A TROUBLE LIGHT CAME ON BUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN THE TROUBLE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE TRUCK WOULD DRIVE NORMALLY. THE CODE WAS NOT HELD IN THE MEMORY SO THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT CHANGE IT UNDER WARRANTY. I KNOW OF ONE OTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME YEAR AND POWER TRAIN THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.

MY VEHICLE FAILED TO START. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY DEALER, I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS A BLOWN FUSE. I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE AND WAS TOLD THE ACTUAL FIX IS TO RELOCATE THE FUSE LOCATION BASED ON A SAFETY BULLETIN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS BELIEVE SOMEONE SHOULD TAKE A CLOSER LOOK. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS KNOWN FUSE ISSUE HAPPENED I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY LOST POWER UNEXPECTEDLY POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED (35-45 MPH) 4X4 WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER ON COUNTY ROAD WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC. STOPPED VEHICLE AND TURNED IGNITION OFF/ON. BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN AND FAILURE RE-OCCURRED WITH ADDITION OF "CHECK ENIGNE" LIGHT (ERROR CODE P2112). FIRST FAILURE HAPPENED ON 25AUG16 ~26000 MILES ON VEHICLE WHILE STILL UNDER INITIAL WARRANTY WHILE ENTERING 70 MPH HIGHWAY. SECOND FAILURE HAPPENED ON 8AUG19 ~67000 MILES ON VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY WHILE ON 45 MPH COUNTY ROAD. EACH TIME THROTTLE BODY (BL3Z-9E926-B) WAS REPLACED BY A FORD MECHANIC AT A DEALERSHIP.
3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS THE ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY AND WITHOUT WARNING. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY COULD NOT DETECT A PROBLEM. WE THEN TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT ASA MASTER CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN WITH 38 YEARS EXPERIENCE. HE INFORMED US THAT FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND WILL NOT ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THROTTLE SYSTEM WAS CLEANED AND WE WILL SEE IF THIS CORRECTS ISSUE. MY PROBLEM IS WITH FORD AND DEALERSHIP THAT DOES NOT EXPLAIN THIS TO THE CUSTOMER. JANUARY 11, 2019 MY ECO BOOST FX4 WAS JUST AT 65K ON THE ODOMETER EXPERIENCED A HARD SHUTTER LIKE MANY ON THE FORUMS SAY AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ON THE INTERSTATE. CODE CAME UP MISFIRE. REPLACED ALL MY SPARK PLUGS, THAT AREN'T SUGGESTED FOR CHANGE FOR CHANGE UNTIL 100K. GAP OPENED FROM .28 TO .45. INTERCOOLER HAD A GOOD BIT OF OILY RESIDUE IN IT. I ALSO SINCE THEN INSTALLED A VAPOR CATCH CAN FOR OVER 400$. IT'S A SHAME YOU HAVE TO DO THAT. ALSO I RECENTLY HAD MY REAR DEFROST ON THE STOP WORKING ON THE MODEL WITH THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW. WHILE TRAVELING EASTBOUND DOING 65 MPH AND TOWING A TRAVEL TRAILER ON I-10 (FL PANHANDLE), THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE RIGHT LANE. AFTER GETTING TO A REPAIR GARAGE, WE WERE TOLD BY A FORMER FORD MECHANIC THAT THERE HAD BEEN A TSB ISSUED FOR MICRO FUSE #27 WHICH CONTROLS FUEL PUMP RELAY. FORD HAS ISSUED A REPAIR KIT TO REPLACE THE FUSE WITH A CARTRIDGE MAXI FUSE IN THE #70 EMPTY SPOT ON THE FUSE PANEL. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED THIS FUSE REPLACEMENT AND THE TRUCK IS NOW RUNNING FINE FOR 400 MILES. THE MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY KNEW THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT HE HAD PERFORMED THIS REPAIR "SEVERAL TIMES" WHILE WORKING FOR A FORD DEALER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SILL-TERHAR MOTORS (LOCATED AT 150 ALTER ST, BROOMFIELD, CO 80020, (303) 469-1801) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
GOT OFF THE FREEWAY, STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN PROCEEDED TO TURN LEFT, JUST AS I WAS ENTERING THE INTERSECTION TRUCK LOST POWER AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WOULD HARDLY MOVE. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF AN APPROACHING SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER BEFORE HE WENT FLYING BY. I WAS TOLD LATER BY THE FORD DEALER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, THE SAME THROTTLE BODY THAT FORD REPLACED 1 YR AND 4 MONTHS EARLIER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT HE WAS AMAZED THAT FORD HAD NOT DONE A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY, BECAUSE THEY CHANGE ROUGHLY A FEW EVERYDAY THAT HAVE FAILED, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD F-150 MOTOR 5.0 I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH ALL MY FAMILY ABOARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND 18 WHEELS SPEED CLOSE BY MY SIDE . WHEN I AM DRIVING,AND I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE(PRESS GAS PEDAL) THE ENGINE LOSES POWER. I THEN HAVE TO COAST TO A STOP AND PUT VEHICLE IN PARK,TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART, AND DRIVE ON. SOMETIMES IT DOES IT AGAIN.SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. IT'S DOES IT WHEN I'M ON ROAD WAYS. DANGEROUS IT HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC.
TRUCK HAS 46665 MILES. WHEN DRIVING FIRST 10 MINUTES (CITY DRIVING) VEHICLE SHUDDERS, SHOWS WRENCH INDICATOR AND GOES INTO LIMP HOME MODE (NO ACCELERATOR). HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF IGNITION AND RESTART ENGINE. PROBLEM CODE SHOWS P2112 (THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM...STUCK CLOSED). THIS MAY HAPPEN 3 TIMES IN FIRST 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING, BUT THEN GOES AWAY WHEN CAR WARMS UP. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED ABNORMAL EXHAUST SMOKE AND BAD GAS MILEAGE. HAVING TRUCK GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS.
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH NOWHERE TO PULL OVER - TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING
2014 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST. ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND GO INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH ORANGE WRENCH. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT RETRIEVE PROBLEM CODE SO I BOUGHT A OBD SCANNER AND DTC CODE READS AS P2112. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WILL HAVE TO GET THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME THE TRUCK HAD APPROX. 62,000 MILES ON IT, THIS TIME IT HAS APPROX. 111,000. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. BOTH TIMES THIS PART HAS FAILED I HAVE HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE TRUCK AND HAVE HAD TO LITERALLY DODGE SEMI TRUCKS AND OTHER CARS NEARLY CAUSING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS TO MAKE IT TO A SAFE SHOULDER. WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN ANY ROAD THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY WILL STOP WORKING PUTTING THE TRUCK INTO A "LIMP HOME MODE." FORD HAS DONE A "CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03" FOR PREVIOUS VEHICLES TO THE TONE OF 1.6 MILLION VEHICLES. THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM AT THIS POINT AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.
3 TIMES WITHIN A 2 MONTH PERIOD WHILE DRIVING, MY TRUCK DISPLAYED THE WRENCH SYMBOL IN THE EVIC SCREEN AND IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE.(THE MOST RECENT WAS 2-28-18) PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTARTED.
