NHTSA Complaint #11667090 — 2014 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from under the floorboards. The contact stated that there was a pop and then a whining sound before the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to either first or second gear. The contact stated there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle, and had the vehicle towed to the local dealer. The dealer refused to service the vehicle and the contact had the vehicle towed to a second dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The contact was informed that the recall repair was performed; however, the transmission had been damaged and needed to be replaced and was not covered under the recall. The contact had notified the manufacturer and was also informed that replacing the transmission was not covered under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000.
