The driver's side door is making noise upon opening and closing. It is also getting progressively more difficult to get it to close securely. The Ford dealership took pictures and submitted the issue to Ford but today, October 18, 2023, Ford has refused to cover the cost to repair the door. Info sent to Ford is attached. I purchased this new 2020 Ford Escape on March 31, 2021. It has not been in any type of accident. I couldn't believe the door was defective so I googled it and found many articles on the potential recall due to the incorrect spot welds in the door. I went to the dealer and was told that unless there is a recall, chances are this won't be covered because I have 50,000 miles on the odometer. I drive to Florida, and make lots of long highway trips in my retirement so these are...
Drivers door spot welds damaged. Door creeks, window does not go down.
The weld spots in the driver side door came loose
Driver door starting making a noise and had trouble closing. And then the window wouldn’t go down all the way. Took it to the dealership and they said that the spot welds failed in the door.
Drivers door spot welds damaged. Door creeks, window does not go down.
Front driver door makes popping sound and window won’t work. Car is 2020 and dealership is telling me that it’s not covered.
The vehicle's driver's door malfunctioned. It is available for inspection, but I paid to fix it earlier this week out of my pocket. It was confirmed by an auto body repair shop.It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. There was no warning lamps' messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The first time it occurred was early last year. It was fixed under the warranty manufacturer twice. The last time it was a week ago, but it was outside the warranty when that occurred. So I paid to fix.
Driver's door, left front, check strap broke at weld inside of door. Door pops real loud when you open it. The door came open today driving down the road I couldn't get it to shut.
The left front door spot welds broke. Car is under 40,000 miles. This is NOT a high usage fleet vehicle, but a personal vehicle. Safety issue: The door does not open properly. I can no longer get into or out of the car through the left driver door. In an emergency, it may be impossible to exit the vehicle quickly. The door does not close properly to lock it. The repair will cost thousands; to replace the entire door and check arm. The local Ford dealer and an auto body repair shop have confirmed the problem. The Ford Dealership told me that this was a known issue. No prior warning symptoms. Opened the door one day and it broke.
WELDING CONNECTION ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HAS COME UNDONE CAUSING A POPPING NOISE AND NOW DAMAGED THE DOOR.
It started with a creaking sound in the drivers door. Then three days later the door became very difficult to close. Took the car to the dealer service department and was told it has a broken spot weld failure that causes the door to be difficult to close and and the window to nor open fully. It is my understanding that this is a known safety problem with other vehicles reporting the same issue. My vehicle has only 18472 miles on it and is 3 years, 3 months old, so no longer covered by the warranty.
The driver's side door has a broke weld - there is an issue that it will not open and close correctly. Also due to the issue the window can not be rolled down which can causes visibility issues when rain or fog conditions are present. The door can sometimes be latched closed and other times will unlatch on its own. I tried to resolve with Ford but they indicate it is a known issue and will not cover the repair, leaving me to not be able to afford the repair but still in need of using the vehicle.
from online research, seems to be a common problem with the ford escape. while in normal use the front driver side door check rod failed. the door was very difficult to open after the failure and now no longer closes
Driver's side door the spot welds broke off, door was making a popping sound whenever opened. Driver's side window also wouldn't go down all the way. Took to dealer to check on it and they knew about this issue right away, advised us to take the car to a body shop because we would need a new Driver's side door put on.
Drivers door one day made a popping noise and then was unable to close. Door hinge issues and ford will not repair without cost although the door has not had any impact, collision or trauma, it just stopped working one day.
The front driver door started to make large popping sounds and becoming difficult to close. The arm inside the door is now loose, grinding, and visibly not connected to the door. The drive window can also not be lowered now.
Driver side Door hinge of my 2020 ford escape is starting to pull off the door spot welds
Pop weld on drivers side door broke. Ford is refusing to fix it or pay for the replacement parts even though there is an active investigation about this problem on multiple 2020 escapes... Hoping the investigation is wrapped up soon and a recall is ordered
The spot welds on the check hinge for the driver door are broken. Door is having issues opening and closing and the glass window will not come down.
A weld in the driver-side door failed rendering the door nonfunctional and making it difficult to safely exit the car and creating a concern that the door may not provide proper protection. The weld failure was not due to an accident for any misuse. Personnel in the Ford service department and body shop were very familiar with this problem due to other similar cases. Ford corporate is reluctant to acknowledge or address the problem, stating that the NHTSA has not required a recall. As a senior citizen I should not be expected to climb through my vehicle to exit my vehicle safely and I should have confidence that the door will protect me. The failure of the weld requires the entire door to be replaced at a cost of $2000. Welding is the basic blocking and tackling of car building and Ford has been welding car bodies for over 100...
The spot welds on the driver's side door check are broken. The window will go down. Door is hard to shut.
Driver Side Door when opened makes loud Popping noise and doesn't want to shut properly and doesn't latch completely. It appears that the spot welds in the check arm for the front doors are failing.
On the 19th of September, 2023 I took my 2020 Ford Escape SE FWD 4-door, 3.1 into Zeck Ford, 4501 4th Trafficway, Leavenworth 66048 to have my driver’s door fixed that was making the Snaping, Popping and Snaping sounds. Also, the driver’s door window would not roll-up or roll-down. Escape vehicles exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly and the cost was $2,515.94 to repair my Escape by replacing the whole driver’s door.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR MAKING A CLUNKING/ POPPING SOUND WHEN OPENED AND CLOSED AND WINDOW NOT OPERATING NORMALLY. THE HINGE IS VERY LOOSE. IT SOUND LIKE THE DOOR IS GOING TO FALL OFF BECAUSE IT DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD FIX THIS AT THEIR EXPENSE. NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS ISSUE BEFORE
The driver's side door spot weld failure in the door's arm. Unable to close the door.
Driver side door henge is making a loud popish / clicking noise. Driver window is extremely slow to roll down / up
The driver side door hinge has separated/ broken away from the door frame. The damage has also caused internal issues with the working mechanisms inside the door such as the window not going down fully.
There is a popping noise when the door opens and you can see the metal flexing where arm is connected to. If that fails the door could possibly fly open or fail to open altogether.
There was a popping noise when opening the door. Dealer said it was a weld crack on the door plate.
heard a small popping noise when i opened the door. the next day i heard a louder pop and the driver door no longer would hold open. the door check bracket separated from the door.
After experiencing cracking and popping noises I took car to dealer and was told the welds on driver door are cracked. The window will not roll down. The door swings open and I fear it will brake off. Occurred at 34000 but 6 months after warranty ended. Over $2500 to repair and was told no recall and it is a common problem. Long wait for doors due to so many customers needing doors replaced.
My Ford Escape driver's door is getting worse. The weld is broken, and my window only goes down about one-half inch. Sometimes when I'm driving it makes a loud noise and I'm afraid it may open by itself. It's getting worse as time goes on. I've taken it into a ford repair shop, and they have checked it out. They are contacting FORD to see if they will cover the cost. I cannot afford $2500 for this repair and frankly, I'm starting to worry about my safety while driving it.
spot weld failure in doors arm. a loud popping noise when comes open or closed. sometimes doesn't want to close.
Door was creaking and making several popping noises when opening and closing. That went on for about a month, going from just a creak, to a pop, to several pops. Now there is very little sound, but the door occasionally resists closing completely. Took it in, and was told a piece inside had popped away from the door. They said it would require body work, but the warranty had run out to cover it. They will reach out to Ford for assistance. They stated that Ford has been "really good" about covering the repair, but could take up to 3 weeks to hear back from Ford. I was told it was ok to keep driving it in this condition, but to not roll the window down. Several articles I've found indicate this is a known problem, and that there's a possibility the door could open while driving. Please push Ford...
My drivers door arm receptor has broken free of its spot weld inside the door, causing severe safety issues. [see Car and Driver article BY ALESSANDRA KAESTNER PUBLISHED: JUL 14, 2023] Same issue. This happened to me today 09/20/2023. * I cannot fully open drivers window because of this defect. Major safety issue if my vehicle goes into water. * I cannot open the door from outside, if locked. Major issue to persons with disabilities who can't climb across the console or back seats. I pulled a leg muscle today doing so. My back hurts also. Ford spot-welded the door arm receptor on a piece of metal that is too thin to provide support. <I PICTURES IF NEEDED> This is enough for a recall. When will you do this? What is taking so long? Already tired of not being able to use drive thru because my window will not lower....
Left front door hinge failure and door was unable to be closed. $2278 in repairs to resolve the door and damge caused to the left fender.
SPOT WELDS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR ARE BROKEN.
The pop weld on drivers side door is broken, door makes a cracking, popping sound when opening and closing. Window will not roll down on this door. Door opened during driving but no damage or injury occurred. Ford is refusing to fix problem due to being 4 months outside of warranty even though I am under 36,000 miles. Will cost upwards of 3,000 to fix
Cracked or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point, popping noise” when the door comes open and the door can be unable to latch when closed or can suddenly come open when it had been closed. Window would not go completely down
The driver door began making a loud popping noise when I would open and close it. About a week after I noticed the popping sound, the driver door wouldn’t close. Upon further inspection I realized that the spot welds on the door assembly bracket have broken. I had to position it carefully so that I could close my door all the way. My driver side window will only go down about 4 inches now. There were no lights indicating any issues with my door. If I open my door all the way then it won’t close again, the broken door assembly bracket prevents it from closing. As it is a Sunday morning, I have not had this issue inspected at the dealership yet, but I plan to call first thing in the morning to have it looked at.
On my 2020 Ford escape the drivers door pops when I open and close the door. It is at the point right now I must pull the door in very hard and push it out very hard to open.
Okay so on the first of September I noticed my driver's side door was squeaking and this thing you know couldn't shut it and my spot welds were gone and pretty much my doors just hang in there and I'm going to send pictures for you I can't drive my car I had to drive from south Carolina to West Virginia
Driver door hinge arm started cracking and popping when opened fully. Automatic window will not roll down. Car was a lease still under 36000 miles when reported. Purchased vehicle with knowledge that other of the same make model and year were recalled.
The weld that holds a mechanism for the door has broken loose. Making cracking sounds and hindering the door to close properly. Also the windows will not go down.
The drivers door made a loud pop when opening and it is now difficult to close and to open. it scrapes and pops out of place along the hinge and on the inside of the door. at one time it was not shutting at all. Hopefully it will not do this again, but something is broken. I was travelling when this happened with a passenger in my car and if m y door would not have shut at all i was far away from home and it would have been a huge inconvenience! I took my car to the dealer i bought it from in my town and he took a video of the noise it makes and the difficulty shutting and opening. He then called me the next day after talking to the techs that they are aware of this happening to some of the Escapes and i will...
Welds holding door check to inside of the front driver side door broke.
spot welds on door check arm pulled out. is affecting operation of window.
On Sept.3, 2023 I went to my car and opened the driver's door, there was a creaking sound I never heard before, I thought someone had hit it in the parking lot but there was zero damage to the outside of the door. As I opened and closed it a few times, the sound got worse and after a few times, it hardly closed. When I went to shut it, I had to almost force it to close. This is a problem, and it came out of, nowhere. It is certainly a safety concern. On the morning of Sept. 4, 2023 I had my boyfriend look at it and he could see where the problem is, it's the hinge area on the driver's side towards the front of the door, where it attaches to the car.
There is a popping sound when opening and closing driver door. It appears some spot welding has broken. Also driver door window will not roll down all the way.
Opening driver side door heard a pop, door hinge sprung causing door to open and driver side window stuck Ford will not take responsibility and fix it. The whole door needs to be replaced and they're quoting me $3000.
