2020 FORD ESCAPE Structurebody Problems

Took my 2020 Escape into dealer due to recall #23B56/23V502 . Dealer stated that the door needs replacement , this was on Oct 22 ,2025. As of Jan 30 , 2026 Ford has yet to send part. I contacted Ford Customer Service on Jan 26 , 2026 and again on Feb 2, 2026 . They can't give me a date as to when part will arrive .

Windshield glass on lift gate shattered spontaneously. Car was not on, windshield had no previous notable cracks or damage. Weather was fair, not extremely hot or cold when incident occurred.

The driver side door is popping and cracking when I open it. It literally sounds like it's going to break and fall off at any moment.

My vehicle was subject to Ford Campaign 23B56 (front door check-arm reinforcement spot weld inspection). The dealership marked the campaign as completed and claimed the left front door failed inspection and was replaced. However, the door still does not close properly, and the check-arm area appears unchanged or improperly repaired. I believe the recall repair was not performed correctly or was misrepresented as completed. This is a safety concern because the door does not operate properly. I am requesting investigation of improper recall completion.

there was a door weld recall on my vehicles' door. I took it to the service shop. Was told Ford had no doors for replacement and to check back. i checked back after almost a year. service shop said Ford had indefinitely suspended fixing the door. Meanwhile, i am unable to roll down the drivers side window more than 2 inches. The recall does not show up as unrepaired, yet the door is broken. I don't know the next steps to take.

I exited my 2020 Escape and as I walked around the car to go into my house, as ai was passing the back of my car the Liftgate glass completely shattered. In the days prior I noticed the defroster was not defrosting all the way. I just got this car a month ago. Glass was everywhere thankfully no one was hurt nor were any of my kids in or around the vehicle at the time the window shattered.

My front driver door started making a loud noise. And every time I would open and close the door I would get resistance. Until it really didn’t want to open or close anymore. It even started to affect my window. It wouldn’t roll down anymore.

In my Ford 2020 Escape Hybrid Titanium AWD car, Sunroof shade got misaligned and not closing anymore, resulting in more heat flowing into the car creating impacts inside. Also, as per others comments and online forums, there is a chance that this shade would fall on the passengers during the drive if not taken care quickly, resulting in injuries in adults and deaths in infants. Reached to a Ford dealership to fix this issue and its costing me close to $3000. As its a design flaw from Ford, I request Ford to do a fix for free of charge or recall and fix it for their customers and address their safety concerns immediately. In August 2025, the plastic cover in between the two pieces of glass on the panoramic sunroof unknowingly fell off when the shade liner was closed due to ineffective glue/sticky tabs that failed to keep the plastic cover on safely. When I went to open the liner, the plastic cover got trapped in the shade/roller housing, broke, and then the shade got completely sucked up into the housing where I can’t get it back out. Quotes to fix this range in the thousands of dollars due to the intensive labor replacing the shade requires. I have seen this happen to multiple owners, especially on the 2020 model. I’m hearing a popping or snapping noise when I open and close my drivers side door. I also noticed a leak on the right upper side of the engine.

The trim piece located between the sunroof and moonroof is secured only with double-sided tape, which is inadequate. As a result, the trim becomes detached and falls onto the sunroof shade. Front passenger side door is making a popping noise upon opening and closing. The door is difficult to close. This problem occurred suddenly. I am taking the car to the dealership.

The headliner has come loose and is drooping. So when I open it my back window is covered completely and I can’t see behind me in my windshield mirror. I think this is a big safety hazard.

My door start making a crunching noise i looked it up on YouTube and learned its called the door check bracket it looks like the dealership i bought it off put rivets in to band aid it up the window won't go down either very upset about this situation as it is my first purchase from a dealership

Door Hing has a bad weld and causes a loud noise and resistance when closing the Driver's door.

Inner shade visor for sun roof has become detached from rail mechanism, causing material to sag and bunch up and get stuck when retracting sunroof. Visibility issues caused could cause safety hazard.

Dislodged Door Check NHTSA Action #PE23013 All 6 rivets broke off when the wind caught the door. The door was uncontrolled by opening it and would fly open and stress the hinges. The door check fell into the door therefore I couldn't open my window. I had a body shop repair the problem for $1476.12. I was unaware of the service bulletin. There was no recall. It was not inspected by authorities. No warning lamps were available for this problem. I did have my Ford dealership inspect it after the repair on May 21, 2025

Door check Bracket Getting Stuck and Don't Close

Sunroof/Sunshade - Plastic trim piece approximately 28"x5" in between the Sunroof and Shade across the middle is held in by double face tape. Tape weakens and piece falls down potentially striking a rear passenger. In addition it can get caught in the shade fabric dislodging it and falling potentially obstructing the drivers rear view. Mine has been repaired once by Ford already but has failed again. Estimated cost is approximately $2000 plus labor. This is a known defect by the Ford Motor Company and they claim it out of warranty. Basic internet search revealed it is a common problem for more that one years models.

The door weld just broke.

My drivers door started 2days ago, April 11, 2025 to make loud cracking noise when opening and closing out of no where. Then on April 12 while out running errands the door became detached. After several attempts to close I was able to close it but I'm having to get in and out from passenger side.

Front Drivers door became hard to open and close. Loud popping noise heard while opening and closing. Window also will not roll down. Inspected door check and discovered spot welds holding internal bracing broke loose. Due to difficulty closing the door, I believe the door may not latch properly. Doing research, I discovered that this is a common problem on 2020 Ford Escape models.

Faulty welds on door hinges, particularly where the check arm connects. This happened yesterday, loud cracking and grinding noise when the front driver door is opened or closed. Ford has known about this issue and refuses to issue a recall. And getting in touch with my local Ford dealer's service department is difficult.

I reported my 2020 Ford Escape last year. It went into the shop for inspection at Cook ford in Texas City after the ford recall for the doors. I also had reported it here. Kyle at Cook ford did a thorough inspection but advised me that their dealership did not have a paint and body shop and referred me to other dealerships with the ability to fix my car. After going to two dealerships, I ended up at Maik Haik in Pasadena Texas. They said they had two doors in stock and three months later my car was still in the shop and not fixed. They had put me in a rental and said in early December that the rental was not being covered by Ford and they were having to "eat" the expense. My wife and I bought our 2020 Ford Escape new from a dealer in 2020. We are the first owners of this vehicle. In the time that we have had it, we have experienced the following issues: 1- the forward camera module that provides collision prevention, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc has failed. The dealer claims that the unit “overheated”. The module is no longer covered under warranty due to mileage. The result is that our vehicle no longer has the safety features that we paid extra for upon initial purchase. 2- the evaporative canister purge valve failed, causing difficult starts after refueling. Driver door hinges are loose. Door makes loud cracking noise when opening and closing. It’s very hard to close. My window will not go down either.

Went to open the drivers side left front door and heard a loud clunk, now door isn't opening or shutting properly and we can't use the drivers window either. I've heard of peoples doors falling off while driving because of this and we just bought the car at the end of October. We have yet to get it looked at, but it's not a cheap fix. I have a Ford recall notice 23B56. I have been waiting three months for replacement parts. Ford provides dealership NO status on parts to repair the recall.

One of the spot welds near the door check has torn through the metal frame, and is causing the window to not roll up or down. When driving over any small bump or uneven road, door cracks loudly, and twice has popped open in transit, then would not close until I pulled over, stopped, and manhandled the door to a close.

Dashboard message indicates the left front door is open although the door is properly closed and locked. I'm still able to lock and unlock the door using the lock switch on the inside door panel while sitting in the driver's seat. I can also lock and unlock the door using my key fob.

On the door, the brace to control the stability of the door has broken off on the inside of the door. This is very annoying that this is not considered a recall as this is something that can only be fix by replacing the entire door. That is not a convenient amount of money to just spend.

The Passenger door Check assembly is making alot of noise. I see there is a problem with the weld of the bracket to the door which could cause the door to fall off the vehicle
