The door has separated and will not close properly. I’m concerned the door could potentially open while in operation. My wife should not have to climb through the passenger side of the car to drive somewhere because the driver door has come apart.
Driver door pops loudly opening and closing and one of the weld spots on the door closing plate is broken off inside the door. Also, the cover over the closing arm is broken and won’t stay in place. I have read others reporting door not properly closing because of these welds breaking down. The contact stated all of the welds have broken loose and the vehicle door won’t close properly.
The front passenger side door hinge welds have failed, and the middle door hinge is loose, making the door very difficult to open or close, causing a safety problem if I had to exit the car in case of an emergency. This is due defective welds on the car door/hinge attach point. My safety is at risk due the defective welds. This just appeared with no warning one day ago. The car is available for inspection, and the problem is very obvious. The repair should be covered completely by Ford Motor Company. I have a service appointment with Heritage Ford of Modesto Ca, on [XXX], to assess the problem. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle's door hinges seem to have faulty welds on the front drivers side door specifically where the check arm connects with the rest of the door assembly. It feels like the door is going to fall off while driving. I am just over the warranty mileage for repair according to kindle ford dealership.
Pop welds at front passenger door failing where check arm is attached. Dealer offered to sell us a $3000 door.
Driver side door hinge failure, dealer said driver side door needs to be replaced and passenger side needs pins. Hard to accept this isn’t a recall based on all the occurrences I’ve read on various ford blogs. Would have expected it would be. Disappointed in NHTSA, not looking after the consumer. I’ve been a life long Ford customer, but not anymore. Disappointed beyond belief
Front driver side door check arm weld failed. Door is hard to close and window will no longer lower.
Driver door welds broke / window will not roll down and brakes make noise/scrubbing when in reverse, have already took vehicle into local dealership...no warnings of said issues. Purchased vehicle in December of 2023....welds broke in February of 2024 and took vehicle in when first occurred., was told i would receive letter from Ford Motor Company when parts came available/ letter to bring it in. Still waiting on letter.... sincerely [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Drivers side door weld problem that could cause drivers side door to come open. My drivers side front door makes a creaky sound when I open it. It seems the internal weld to the door has failed. During my research to determine, if this was a national concern, I read internet articles stating this appears to be a faulty spot weld in the Drivers' side door check arm. For me, this started on [XXX], 2024. I reported the issue, to my local Ford Dealerships auto repair department, Gary Crossley Ford, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, [XXX]. It told me Ford had not notified it of a recall, nor has it provided repair instructions. I spoke to Jennifer in Houston, TX, at the Customer Support Line 1.800.392.3673 on Friday, [XXX]. She stated parts and repair instructions were available and she was placing an order for them while, we spoke. This turned...
Front door started making noises about 1 week ago.05/10/2024 Door is hard to close and it seem like it is not latched or closed properly. I don't let window down because its hard to get it closed. I took car to Ford Auto Body Shop, they stated door needed to be replaced , because of broken check arm reinforcement welds. Car is 3.6 years old and has 20,000 miles on it. Ford told me to wait for recall to be initated, or I could pay about $5000 to have door replaced. No warning sign before at all. I have extended warranty but it doesn't cover body.
Loud cracking noise in driver side door. Door does not close properly. Can not lower window.
Door chuck broke and door would not fully open had to get repaired I went to my car mechanic as I would have had to pay because I am no longer under warranty
Driver side door hinge is broken and it had to be replaced at a cost to me. Also the passenger side is doing the exact same thing as the driver side. Safety is at risk because doors will not close properly. Vehicle was taken back to dealership when it the driver side hinge malfunctioned and passenger side door was inspected by a body shop. There was not any warning signs that the hinge was broken on either door.
- My vehicle is affected by the "Broken Spot Welds In The Left Front Door At The Check Arm Attachment Points In The Door Assembly" issue. The damage in the door is becoming more significant with the normal use of the door, to the point that the cracks on the door are now visible and they are also evolving towards becoming holes. - The reference of Special Message Service (SSM) describing this issue and its resolution is: SSM 50150. - According to the ODI Resume from the NHTSA, dated 01/24/2024: "... Ford has provided details on a one-time-repair customer satisfaction (23B56), stating that they will provide customers with a letter, currently targeted for March 2024, to bring the vehicle to a Ford dealership for a proactive repair...". - Today, 05/09/2024, the Ford dealer in our city rejected to provide any service or repairs for this issue, arguing that they have...
Ford C.S.P. #23B56. The three spot welds on the drivers side door check arm broke out. We have problems opening and closing the door as the check arm sometimes gets stuck inside the panel.
Drivers door is popping. The arm attachment in the door is broken. I am told this is a known issue with the 2020 Ford Escapes. This will be costly to fix and should be recalled. If the door does not close properly, there is risk it may open when I am driving.
Front driver door spot welds failed for the restrictor arm. Ability to open drivers door and window affected.
Swing arm hinge spot weld has broken loose. Cannot roll the window down, hard to shut.
The driver and passenger only open all the way now. When the doors are opened it sounds like they are breaking or going to fall off. It is the mechanism that holds the door to the car when the doors are open.
Door makes a loud clanging noise when open and does not stay open
The drivers door has a loud popping cracking like the door is going to break. It won’t shut properly. This is the 2020 escape.
The piece that keeps my driver side door from opening to the point of breaking has broken from the door, and in turn is preventing my driver side window from opening/closing. The cause of this problem is that the solder came loose from the inside of the door. If the wind catches my door, I risk the chance of it buckling at the hinge of the driver door. I have taken it to the dealership in my area and they have reported it to Ford, who states that they are aware of the problem and are trying to find a solution. I am being told that it is going to be a recall, but it is not ready yet? It has been this way for almost 2 months. I took it to the dealership the first time on 3/5/24. Still nothing. This is unacceptable. If anything they can put on...
Left front door has a broken spot weld at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly, occurring on 04/23/24. The weld has completely separated from door component, causing the door to open too wide & barely close completely. This has also caused the sensors in the window to malfunction and the window will not open at all. Has been brought to a dealership and inspected to determine the broken weld is the cause of these problems, and that they have been widely reported by other drivers of this make and model Ford Escape. There were no prior warning lights before breakage, the left front door started making a snapping sound 1 day (04/22/24) before the door weld fully snapped and detached.
Drivers door popping won’t close all the way window hitting something when you try to roll it down spot welds broken in door
Front passenger door is coming apart - literally the inside structure is separating from the frame of the car. The driver door is automatically locking even when key fob is in the car. When rolling up windows- the Automatic windows continue to roll up and down without touching the buttons. Engine is puttering upon start up- low idling. The engine cuts out when pressing gas upon driving.
Door making popping noise, window won't go down. sometimes won't open easily. control arm problem.
Driver side door is literally falling off. The hinge is broken and the dealer says although it is a known issue Ford will not cover it. I cannot open the door or else will not be able to close it again. It took two men to close it once it broke and I've been using the passenger side door to enter and exit. I have 2 small children. All electronics inside of door are now non-functioning. Dealer wants $3,000 to repair. Not sure how a non-functioning door is not a safety issue. There are times when you may have to exit a vehicle in an emergency situation (like when it's on fire, in an accident, etc.) not to mention when you're driving down the highway and the door flies off.
The door hinge limiter bracket on the drivers front door has a broken weld and has becomes detached. This also interferes with the window being able to open and close.
Driver side door makes loud noise when opening and closing. Warning messages: car not in drive or park when in the correct gear; door open; and battery saver on in morning. Driver side power window not working properly. Took to dealer for service on 4/15/25. Was informed there is a door issue not recall and no repairs at this time. Cost: $70 to check door. Have not received any notification from Ford about Customer Satisfaction Program 23B56.
There has been a cracking noise when opening my passenger front door. Heard a POP and notice three small holes on the side of door. I can barely open my door and can’t let down the window. Called ford and of course the famous line, “Since your car is not under warranty, we cannot fix the problem.” Shouldn’t this problem be a recall? I’ve been researching and noticed many Ford Escapes are dealing with the same issue. I feel like I’m driving a Build-A-Car. Come on Ford you have to do better.
Driver's door when opening would make a clunking sound. After opening it a couple times door would not shut. Finally getting it to shut, the door now will not open all the way. Also since this happening the window on that door will not roll down. Safety issue is that I'm afraid the door won't stay closed or it may fall off. Also the gas cap light is on, always been a problem even when the cap door is completely closed.
I have already put in a complaint about the broken spots welds, I am now adding to that complaint. I had the window fixed but because the door is broken I cannot roll down the window. My door is now not locking so stays open even when engaging the locks. The electrical system is giving me errors telling me that there is no key detected and so the engine won't start right away. The radio screen blacks out and doesn't work right, won't keep my settings anymore. This all has been happening since my door broke. I am sick of this car. Casa Ford says that my door is not covered by my extended warranty, but my window was, which was broken because of the broken spot welds in the door. This makes no sense since I am not able to use the window because of the door being broken.
The driver’s side front door mades a creaking/popping sound when opening, hard to open drivers door due to an issue with the welding First noticed when getting into the car where car was parked
My 2020 SEL Ford Escape has faulty spot welds on the drivers side door hinge. All three spot welds have broken and has caused the door to make metal scraping noise and is hard to shut. Also, I can not longer roll down my drivers side window because the hinge is blocking the window from rolling down.
2020 Ford Escape has an failure of spot welds in the vehicle's doors, causing the door check arm to break off. Unable to open window all the way or open door all the way. Having repaired before I'm unable to close door or it falls off.
Door hinge on front driver's side door is broken and door swings open hard (especially in wind). It has knocked people (myself, my wife) over and has hit vehicles parked next to it. Took it in to Ford and they said things like this break. Now the same thing happened to the passenger side front door. This seems to be a manufacturing issue.
Driver's door safety check arm spot welds broke
Front driver door has a loud pop when opening and not opening and closing correctly. Per body shop appears to be a defect with the door's check arm which from our research is a known issue by Ford but no recalls have been issued.
Left broken spot weld on Driver's side door. Without accident, the driver's side window stopped working and the driver's door no longer has any traction once opened. This happened spontaneously without any warning or other symptoms. This first appeared [XXX]. Once the door is opened, it flies open nearly hitting other cars or people that are nearby if I'm not holding on firmly, and the window does not roll down. I brought this to Superior Ford Collision [XXX] and they confirmed it was a broken spot weld. I contacted Ford and this was no longer under warranty so they will not offer any assistance in replacing the door. I was quoted at $5000-$6000 for a new door by Lucas Stauffacher at Superior Ford Collision. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I bought the car from Davidson Ford dealer in watertown, Ny on [XXX] less then 3 months later the drivers side door bracket has broke/ snapped and now the window cannot be rolled down. It sounds like the door is going to fall off. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The drivers side door made a popping and cracking sound like the hinge broke off when I went to open it, it sounds like the door is going to fall off,the car has 37000 miles on it bought it from a certified ford dealer in watertown, NY and less than 90 days later it is broke. The drivers window will not go down and the arm bracket/ hinge is broke . I took the car to the ford dealer where I purchased it less then 90 days ago and bought and extended warranty was told that it does not cover the door. Now the door is still broke and window cant be used. This is the first Ford I have purchased I should have stuck with Nissan. very unhappy especially since I bought an extended 5 year warranty.
The left-hand side on the door all automatically just stopped working properly. It makes a popping cracking noise when you open the door all the way. The car is a 2020 it is under 40,000 miles. The window does not roll down all the way due this malfunction. It’s been going on for a while and the car dealership says that i am responsible for paying for it even though it’s a defect. It should be under warranty from Ford. It’s a mechanical issue. The door should open and close properly if I have never been in an accident. I have had many problems with this car since i bought it brand new such as getting new brakes at 1000 miles (they claim because the car was sitting there), a new reservoir because of the windshield wiper fluid was leaking, my headlamp needed to be fixed amongst other things. I...
The driver's side door hinge has broken. I can't open the door wide or it won't shut. The gentleman at the dealership said it may need welding. Whatever has happened is affecting the operation of that door's window as well. I have read that there have been complaints/concerns of this from others yet no recall has been considered.
Weld spots on inside of driver's door are broken.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on several occasions while exiting and entering the driver's door, there was an abnormally loud popping sound coming from the door. Additionally, while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to roll down the driver's window, but the window would not roll down. The vehicle was taken to two body shops where it was diagnosed that the pressure and or friction caused an unknown part to fracture, and the window motor failed. The contact was informed that the driver's door needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the driver's side door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired
one day suddenly with no warning or alerts, or messages of the problem to alert me, the driver's door began making horrible noises when opening or shutting. I have extended warranty and contacted them, took it to the Ford dealership for inspection where it was determined the internal welds in door are broken, also causing problems with the electric window of that door. the window will only go down about an inch or so and the entire door needs to be replaced which is not covered under the warranty and I'm told it needs to go to a body shop to replace the door!
the driver door it makes noice and gets stuck when try to opening it up.
The door welds (arm check) have broken. I took it a ford dealer and have been told there is no recall. When I took it to a body shop, they told me all of the door welds are weak and need replacement. I was quoted $6500. For a new vehicle (2020) it seems like a manufacturing defect and there are no recalls and it is too expensive for me to fix. Please help.
Driver door makes a popping noise. It is hard to open, other times hard to close. Does not stay open sometimes and will fling closed, which has hit my arm and shin. Since this started, the window does not roll down all of the way. When it does roll down, it does not roll up.
Both front doors have broken spot welds. The driver’s side window will not function properly— it only goes 1/3 of the way up and down when the vehicle is in use. There is also a loud popping sound when the door is opened.
