My vehicle previously had recall work, including power steering, but now I’m experiencing: * ‘Steering Assist Required’ warning, and the electric power steering is intermittently failing * Traction control and hill assist turned off * Headlights (and other lights) staying on even when the car is off * The vehicle pulls sharply to the left when braking * Despite multiple alignments and suspension/tie rod replacements, my new tires are wearing out rapidly
The power steering suddenly stopped working while I was driving. The steering became extremely stiff and difficult to control. At one point, the power assist abruptly returned, causing the steering wheel to jerk, and I nearly hit a pedestrian. It was a frightening and extremely dangerous situation. Brought the car to my mechanic multiple times, but the issue kept coming back. After 3 times, I brought the car to the ford dealership/ford mechanics and they confirmed the issue with the power steering was the fault of the rack and pinion. There was no indication of an issue prior to the power steering going out, however, as the steering goes out the power steering alert comes up on the cars dashboard, as wall as the loss of traction power.

Steering losses power while driving. 2/24/24 Ford replaced steering gear, same problem reoccured 300 miles later on 3/14/24 If this had of happen while on the freeway it would of resulted in a horrific accident. Steering loss is a very serious problem.
I was driving on the highway and the steering wheel light with exclamation point came on along with flashing adaptive steering menu, traction control menu and up hill assistance menu came on the dash repeatedly, as I kept driving the steering got worse and I almost had an accident. I had no choice to get off at the next exit and was able to pull into a gas station at the end of the exit. I tried to google from my phone the warnings and saw there was over 86 complaints on the same issue. I turned off the car and waited for about 10 minutes before starting it again hpeing that maybe it would reset itself. When I started my car again, I had no steering. I was forced to be towed over an hour away and over $3500 to fix it
The vehicle had repeated failures of the electrical steering system. While driving, the failure occurred making it nearly impossible to steer. On certain occasions, the car stalled. If turned off, the error might clear, work for some time, then fail again. One morning, it came up with the failure codes before starting (16 degrees) even after working the night before. Then work later in afternoon after temperature had warmed up.
The contacts own a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing out of the garage, the contact attempted to turn the steering wheel, but the steering wheel failed to turn. I have a 2016 ford edge sport I bought from a ford dealer and I now have adaptive steering fault code that has popped up and now the steering wheel is turned 90 degrees to the left and the suv steering is not working correctly and is very dangerous to drive I called the dealership and was told I have to pay for them to look at and to fix it the is a major safty issue as it's not safe to drive and this suv had the airbag recall fixed and I have seen others have the same issue I am having now and it has to do with faulty parts in the steering wheel again is a major safety issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the contact lost control of the vehicle. The contact attempted to regain control of the vehicle but was unable to cause to and the vehicle struck the guard rails. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and the vehicle started to operate normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. MY VEHICLE HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT PURCHASED NEW AND ALWAYS MAINTAINED AT A CERTIFIED FORD DEALER. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AN ERROR CODE CAME UP ON THE DASH ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT. MY STEERING WHEEL WENT OFF CENTER TURNED TO THE LEFT. I HAVE LOOKED ON LINE AND THERE WAS A BULLETIN FROM FOR IN 2019 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OWNERS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE NOTIFIED AND WE WERE NOT. DELAERS WERE SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS IF LETTERS WERE NOT RECEIVED WHEN SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. I AM DOING ALOT OF READING AND DELAER SAYS COMPUTER MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED 2600.00. ON LINE FORUMS SAY STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT. VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE A CAR WITH LOW MILES WITH A DANGEROUS UNSAFE SITUATION AND DELAER SAYS REPAIR THROUGH FORD IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE THAT THE PROGRAM EXPIRED.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering intermittently failed to operate as needed with the “Adaptive Steering Fault - Service Required" message displayed. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
I was driving in a parking lot when it was snowing and the traction control and anti lock brakes went out. Due to that, the car locked up and I hit a curb. My tie rod is bent now on the passenger side of the cat.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning; however, the contact was able to coast the vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that approximately 3 years later, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while idling at a stop light, he depressed the accelerator pedal and the engine stalled without warning. The contact then stated that after approximately one hour, he was able to restart the vehicle; however, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired....
My parking brake, ABS, and Traction Control (ESC) warning lights all illuminate even when not engaged (Parking Brake states engaged even while driving.) Traction Control (ESC) on/off indicators illuminate opposite of engagement/unengagement (no correlation between.) Identical symptoms from NHTSA recall #16V733000. My car was manufactured right during that timeframe when my make/model/year were deemed loaded with improper ABS/ESC computer software. I brought it into Ford repeatedly and it was incorrectly diagnosed as a faulty E-Brake switch, only to give me my vehicle back and E-Brake could not be unengaged while they returned me the keys in the lot. They looked at it again and stated my ABS Module was broken causing my parking brake actuators to now be faulty resulting in my rear rotors to be worn down to unsafe driving levels. The best reason they could give me for a faulty ABS Module was "lightning strike." I called Ford...
Car was driving fine on 29th. Woke up on 7/30/22 and went out to get breakfast. As soon as I started the car this came up on the screen: HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE, ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED, STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. I tried to drive away but cannot move my steering wheel at all.
I just received this recall letter I’ve almost lost my life in this vehicle I need for someone to contact me as soon as possible [XXX] I had two other passengers in the car with me at the Time of the incident the brakes failed and the car spent out of control also the middle part we’re the gears are busted. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Power steering fault light comes on, steering wheel not centered.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist and hill start assist warning lights illuminated. After the warning lights illuminated, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she informed the dealer of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. A diagnostic test was performed and she was informed that the steering gear was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and informed her that her vehicle was no longer under warranty. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the power steering assist failed, causing the steering wheel to be difficult to maneuver. The power steering assist warning message was displayed. The contact pulled over several times and restarted the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
I had a Ford dealer diagnose an illuminated dash warning stating “Adaptive Steering Fault” along with a steering wheel that was turned 90 degrees to the right while the vehicle was tracking straight ahead. During this time, the vehicle's steering would also exhibit momentary losses of power assist accompanied by clicking noises coming from the steering wheel. The dealer’s diagnosis returned a faulty steering wheel with complete steering wheel replacement being the remedy. This was quoted as as a $2,500 repair!! Through manufacturer goodwill, I would be on the hook for 50% of that which is still ~$1,250 on a vehicle with only ~36K miles! Further, I quickly discovered that this issue is well-known for my model to the point that Ford has issued service documents to address complaints (Customer Satisfaction Program 19B04 - Supplement #1 and TSB# 16-2066, 03 November 2016). Customer Satisfaction Program 19B04 - Supplement #1 even...
PRIOR HISTORY- COUPLE TIMES THE ADAPTIVE STEERING LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO RIGHT BACK OUT. ON 12/14/2020 I WAS DRIVING AND IN A RIGHT HAND TURN WHEN I HEARD A POP ON MY STEERING WHEEL. I IMMEDIATELY GOT A 'ADAPTIVE STEERING SERVICE REQUIRED' LIGHT. I KNEW THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND DROVE TO THE NEXT TOWN WITH NO ISSUE TO WHERE I COULD SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD. WHEN I STOPPED THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN MY STEERING WAS LOCKED AND I HAD 4 MESSAGES ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES). I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A RACK AND PINION WHICH WILL COST $3400.00. (I DON'T CARE AS MUCH ABOUT THE COST, I WANT TO SEE AN ACTION BY FORD WHO IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WANTS TO SOAK UP THE $2000+ FOR THE PARTS) I'VE DONE SOME...
THE CAR BATTERY DIED AND AFTER I GOT IT JUMPED OFF AND TRIED TO DRIVE IT THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR HELP AS I REPORT THIS. IT LOOKS LIKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT COMPLAINT BUT THERE IS NO ANSWER AS TO WHAT CAUSES THIS.
I WENT TO START MY CAR AND FOUND MY BATTERY WAS LOW. I GOT THE CAR JUMP STARTED AND WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR THE POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. THIS IS ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 26,000 MILES. I AM TOLD THE WARRANTY IS 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. BASED ON MY RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. I DROVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THERE WAS NO HINT OF ANY PROBLEMS.
ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT IS ON. CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT EVER SINCE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT 37,000 MILES AND FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY MALFUNCTION UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY. I PURCHASED EXTENDED PLATINUM INSURANCE COVERAGE BECAUSE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED 1 YEAR AGO. LIGHT COMES ON EVERYTHING I TURN THE VEHICLE ON. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING MODULE INTEGRATED IN THE RACK AND PINION SHORTED AND ONE CAN NO LONGER USE THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FEATURE. THE NHTSA RECALLED THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE ELECTRIC ADAPTIVE STEERING MOTOR, HOWEVER NHTSA DID NOT RECALL THE RACK AND PINION WITH THE DEFECTIVE ADAPTIVE ELECTRONICS. I'M LUCKY MY STEERING WHEEL FAILED STRAIGHT AND DID NOT CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE COCKED. I WOULD LIKE TO PREVENT CAR MANUFACTURERS FROM INTEGRATING ELECTRONICS INTO NON-SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAILURE IS TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION. GOING FORWARD ALL AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO INTEGRATE NON-SERVICEABLE ELECTRONICS WITH MECHANICAL PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND I TRIED TO MODIFY THE SETTINGS FOR THE ADAPTIVE STEERING IN DRIVER ASSIST SETTINGS.THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FEATURE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE SINCE THE ELECTRONICS SHORTED. WHY RECALL THE STEERING WHEEL AND NOT THE ELECTRONICS IN THE...
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. WARNING CAME ON WITH : 1. STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED; 2. SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. MY 2016 NORMALLY IS USED ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT CITY. LOSS OF POWER PULLED VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD. 80K MILES ON EDGE. *TR
GOT CODES FOR NO STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND NO ADVANCE TRAC, MEANING NO POWER STEERING AND NO AWD. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS BUT WAS TOLD, MY CAR DIDN'T APPLY BECAUSE NOT MADE AT THE PLANTS THEY WERE MADE. TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, HAD THEM LOOK AT IT, AFTER DISCONNECTING BATTERY FOR 10 MINUTES, BOTH CAME BACK, BUT SAID RACK AND PINION WAS BAD? MY CAR JUST PAST THE 36,000 MILES IN GARAGE MILES WERE 38804. THIS CAR ONLY DRIVES ON PAVED ROADS, NOT ALL NEW PAVED BUT GOOD ROADS. 'HOW CAN THIS BE PART BE BAD WITH JUST 2000 MILES OVER COVERAGE? WHY IS IT BAD AT THIS MILEAGE? NOT HAPPY TO HAVE TO PAY $2600.00 TO REPLACE AT SUCH LOW MILLAGE? SOMETHING WAS BAD WITH THIS PART FROM THE START!!! IF I HAVE TO REPLACE THIS PART AND NOT COVERED BY FORD PLUS MY COST...
THIS IS REGARDING FORD'S SAFETY RECALL 19S26. MY CAR TOO SHOWED SIMILAR SYMPTOMS AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL NOTICE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING . GEAR AND THE BOLTS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR DOES NOT SHOW UP IN THE RECALL LIST EVEN THOUGH THE MAKE, MODEL AND THE MANUFACTURING PLANT MATCHES. THE REPAIRS COST ME A 100$ DEDUCTIBLE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND 60$ TO JUMP START THE CAR. OTHER COSTS INCLUDED HAVING TO DEPEND ON UBER FOR TRANSPORTATION. MY MOTIVE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT IS TO MAKE SURE THE RECALL VEHICLE LIST IS ACCURATE.
WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE 2016 EDGE. AT APPROXIMATELY 48,000 MILES, WE HEARD A POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHICH PROGRESSED TO A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND ON BUMPS AND TURNING. THE LOCAL DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AT 54,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE STARTED DARTING ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES (RAPID SHIFTS IN DIRECTIONAL STABILITY, OFTEN CHANGING LANES WITHOUT WARNING). THE LOCAL DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO TSB'S ON THAT PROBLEM AND DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM(!). I RAISED THE FRONT SUSPENSION MYSELF AND FOUND THE DRIVERS BALL JOINT ALMOST READY TO DISLODGE FROM THE CONTROL ARM. I REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MYSELF (I AM A RETIRED AUTO INSTRUCTOR) FOLLOWING FORD'S RECOMMENDATIONS. AFTER AN ALIGNMENT, THE VEHICLE DRIVES CONSIDERABLY BETTER BUT SOMEHOW NOT PERFECT. NOTE THAT THERE IS STILL A CLUNKING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION BUT THERE DOESNT APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING LOOSE, ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE...
WHILE DRIVING A MONTH AGO THE POWER STEERING FAULT WARNING LIGHT WENT ON& I LOST POWER STEERING. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED BACK ON I RECEIVED 3 WARNING LIGHTS: UPHILL START ASSIST DISABLED, POWER STEERING FAULT DISABLED & TRACTION CONTROL DISABLED. 6 STEERING GEARS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE & IT'S STILL AT THE DEALER NOT FIXED. VEHICLE IS UNDRIVEABLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND TWO UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT CALLED DON HINDS FORD INC (12610 FORD DR, FISHERS, IN 46038, (317) 849-9000) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-24406514K1H6S2. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY 2016 FORD EDGE SPORT WITH 35K MILES HAS AN ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT ON. THIS CAUSED THE WHEEL TO BECOME LOOSE OR COCKED AT AN ANGLE WHILE DRIVING, WHICH IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. AFTER RESEARCHING MORE, THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE MENTIONED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY RECALL AND NOT A TSB.
WHEN FLAT TOWING BEHIND RV VEHICLE GOES INTO A WOBBLE. ONLY WAY TO STOP THE WOBBLE IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HAPPENED WHEN ENTERING ROAD FROM SHOULDER ALSO ON A ROUGH UNEVEN ROAD. HAPPENED AT SLOW SPEED 10 TO 20 MPH.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THERE IS A TSB ON THIS AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL TO FIX IT. NOW IT IS COMING ON AGAIN WITH THE NEW STEERING WHEEL AND WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT CAME ON DURING A HIGHWAY TRIP FROM NEW ORLEANS TO DAYTONA AND HAS STAYED ON EVER SINCE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TILTED LEFT AS A RESULT.
THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE ADAPTIVE POWER STEERING ON MY 2016 EDGE SPORT WITH 22,500 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN THE CAR HAD 8800 MILES ON IT AND FORD WOUND UP REPLACING THE WHOLE STEERING WHEEL IN AUGUST OF 2017. THIS MORNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN ALMOST IDENTICALLY TO THE LAST TIME. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF NOWHERE TURNS 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT TO WHERE THE TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL NOW POINTS TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. I HAVE A APPOINTMENT TO BRING TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP ON 1/31/19.
LOST CONTROL ON MY STEARING DRIVING TO MY WORK THIS MORNING. I WAS DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROAD WHEN I STARTED EXPECTING LOST OF STEARING, CAR WAS ALMAST START DRIVING TO THE CURB. I PUT ON BREAKS AND CAR WOULDN'T STOP. TRYED TO MANEUVER CAR TO STOP FROM GOING ON CURB AND TURNING TO OPPOSITSIDE BUT THERE WAS OUTCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE TO CONTROL THAT IS WAS STILL DRIVING EVEN I WAS PUSHING ON THE BREAKS AND CAR WENT ALL THE WAY TO SIDE OF THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND FLUE TO THE FIELD AND DREW THERE FOR 100-200 FEET UNTILL IT IS STOPPED. I WAS LUCKY SURVIVE, BECAUSE THERE WAS ELECTRIC POLE AND SOME UNEVEN LAMDSCAPE THAT I CULD BEEN INJURED OR EVEN DEAD. DANGEROUS! CAN'T EXPLAIN FEAR I EXPERIENCED THIS MORNING. SCHEDULED TIME WITH FORD AT SAWMILL IN DUBLIN, OHIO TO CHECK WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR!
GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE: "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT, NEED SERVICE", JUST AFTER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY EXPIRED. NEED TO SPEND ABOUT 1.8K TO FIX THIS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR MANY 2016 FORD EDGE SPORT. REALLY CONCERN ABOUT THE QUALITY AND SAFETY OF FORD CARS. SO DISAPPOINTED.
I AM CONTINUING TO DOCUMENT EACH OCCURRENCE OF THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT. BY THE TIME I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT HOLD THE CODES. THE LIGHT GOES OUT. IT CAME ON OCTOBER 28, 2018 AT 9PM AT 21870 MILES. I WENT BACK TO MY VEHICLE FIVE MINUTES LATER AND IT WAS OUT. I DROVE TO WORK THIS MORNING AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 5/10 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TILTED TO THE RIGHT DESPITE THE WHEELS BEING STRAIGHT. IF I CAN'T TAKE IT DO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM ADDRESS IT, I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE TO DO. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS TO REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL BUT I AM TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WON'T RETAIN THE CODES WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT, THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING.
I PARKED MY CAR IN A LOT W/OUT ANY ISSUES. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND STARTED THE CAR AND PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE GEAR, A WARNING LIGHT "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAILURE" WAS DISPLAYED. THE WHEEL SEEMED TO NOT BE CENTERED WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. I EVEN TRIED SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING, BUT TO NO AVAIL. I PARKED IT AT HOME AND THE NEXT DAY STARTED IT TO SHOW MY HUSBAND AND THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. THE STEERING WHEEL STILL SEEMS OFF THOUGH. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND AM HOPING THE DEALERSHIP WILL BE THOROUGH IN INVESTIGATING THE REASON FOR THIS.
ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND TRANSMISSION IN PARK MILEAGE 33205.9. UPON STARTING, THE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. AFTER ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF MESSAGE, THE DASH LIGHT REMAINED ON. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND SHOWED WARNING TO SERVICE MANAGER. WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN REVIEW ISSUE AS TO LACK OF AVAILABILITY. SCHEDULED NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT, 6 DAYS LATER. ADVISED THAT SITUATION IS SAFE TO DRIVE. LIGHT WENT OFF UPON SHUTDOWN. WARNING APPEARED AGAIN AT 33324.1 MILES, STATIONARY IN PARK. RETURNED TO DEALER DURIN APPOINTMENT. ADVISED AFTER TECHNICIAN ASSESSMENT THAT I HAVE A FAULTY ADAPTIVE STEERING COMPONENT REQUIRE STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT. NEED TO HAVE FORD AUTHORIZATION FOR REPAIR, RESCHEDULED FOR SERVICE REPAIR. ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO VEHICLE LOANER FOR THIS SERVICE. ALSO, ADVISED THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THIS CONDITION. VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED A STIFFNESS IN STEERING SINCE THIS INCIDENT HAS STARTED. CONFIDENCE ON VEHICLE'S SAFETY...
