NHTSA Complaint #11463452 — 2016 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist and hill start assist warning lights illuminated. After the warning lights illuminated, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she informed the dealer of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. A diagnostic test was performed and she was informed that the steering gear was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and informed her that her vehicle was no longer under warranty. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
