Engine shuts off then restarts after you put it in park been doing it for over a year been to many mechanics but it never reads a code , head rest deployed on passenger side and will not stay when pushed back in
I own a 2013 Chrysler 200. While parked at a gas station the front driver’s headrest deployed without warning. I contacted a dealer where I was informed that the headrest needed to be replaced out of pocket. I was informed that the vehicle no longer qualified to be serviced under the recall. Mileage was around 135,000 when this occurred.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the front driver’s and front passenger’s side headrests deployed without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V640000 (Seats, Air Bags). The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the headrest needed to be replaced out of pocket. The contact was informed that the vehicle no longer qualified to be serviced under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 97,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the front driver's side headrest deployed, and there was no impact to the vehicle. The contact stated that the headrest struck the back of her head, but there was no injury sustained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the headrest needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V640000 (Seats, Air Bags); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Adjusting the headrest up some and the headrest popped out and want go back in i know that it pops out durning a collision so im wondering why is it popped out now the airbag light is on
Drivers seat headrest popped open and cannot be reset. This thankfully occurred while the vehicle was stopped.
Headrest popped out Radio goes blank or completely then comes back on Throttle body light comes on and stalks car after being replaced 2 times Gas cap light comes on after being replaced 4 times
Active Headrest system deployed without collision on the passenger side. Could have impacted passenger and caused serious head injury. Vehicle was taken to dealer and directed me to Chryslers customer hotline. They were reluctant to do anything and were trying to put the blame on me. They said they would call back in the next 2-3 business days to examine the vehicle after much back and forth. There were no warning signs that the headrest would deploy and no prior notice from the manufacture.
Headrest exploded while my wife was driving home yesterday. It is definitely broke.
The driver side head rest popped out and is unable to be reset.
Multiple issues, passenger window is a very common issue, looked on YouTube and found many videos for it was able to jump with direct power to the pigtail using wires and a battery and was able to roll it up but no explanation for why it ends up having this issue, heater core also a consistent issue, it is obvious with passenger side goes cold and 95% of the fix is a new heater core. Headrests popping, had the safety recall done 02chz28 (Recall S61) and never was mentioned or brought up by local dealer, both seatbelts are not functioning properly, passenger side is the worst, locks up and both are running along the plastic causing it to become deformed and wearing on the edges of the belts. Vehicle has obvious replacements on the front but no accident history. Hood is a different vin number and grill is not original...
While driving, the safety mechanism on my driver's seat headrest malfunctioned and launched forward. I was distracted for a minute after while I tried to figure out what just happened. At first I thought someone rear ended me until I saw there was no one behind me. I saw what happened to the headrest after I pulled into a gas station. I didn't take it to a mechanic because they would've wanted over $700 to replace it, which I can't afford. I replaced it myself with a headrest I bought on EBay. I still have the malfunctioned headrest because I'm not sure at this point what to do with it. There was no prior warning of any kind.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off the contact heard a loud explosion coming from the vehicle. The contact noticed that the front passenger's side headrest had exploded and separated with no warning light illuminated. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Occupant Restraint Control failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
3 months ago my passanger head rest popped open. Tried to close but couldnt. Today my driver seat head rest popped open as I was driving
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the front passenger's side seat headrest deployed and struck the back of the head of the front passenger seat occupant. Additionally, the contact stated that the front driver's side seat headrest deployed while the contact was occupying the seat on another occasion. There were no injuries sustained by the driver or passenger seat occupant. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The dealer was charging a fee for the headrests replacement, but the contact declined to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V640000 (Seats, Air Bags); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage...
Broken active head restraint while placing the passenger seat in a slight reclining position. It broke the rod and plastic in the head rest so that it separates (no support for the head). Meaning there is a chance of possible injury to the head and neck of the passenger in the event of an accident.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the front driver's side seat headrest exploded without impact. The contact drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact's husband purchased the headrest from the dealer and replaced the headrest. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer denied reimbursement. The failure mileage was approximately 40,300.
While driving, my driver seat headrest deployed. There was no collision to activate the headrest to deploy. It did so spontaneously. This could have caused a major accident due to me being startled. I am concerned for my daughter’s safety and mine. There were no recalls for the headrests reported in my vehicle. There was no indication that the headrests in my vehicle would be an issue. I will be taking the vehicle to CarMax, where I purchased it and to the Chrysler dealership to seek a solution
When my son was adjusting the seat to his height and reach, the headrest (commonly known as an AHR from my research) popped open. I was not hurt but could have been if I wasn't leaning forward at the time. I understand Fiat Chrysler is under a class action lawsuit for this very defect, yet my car is not part of the recall. Does this mean they are not liable? Do I have to join the class action lawsuit to get them to repair my headrest at no cost to me? I can take photos but I'm using an i-phone and my computer does not recognize the file extension. Thank you for your guidance in this matter, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The driver head rest deployed while sitting and turned off. The safety pin sheared off.
The passenger side headrest airbag deployed while driving. No accident and was not hit by anything.
was driving home with my kids when all of sudden the passenger front seat headrest popped
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the driver’s and passenger’s seat headrests were deployed without warning. The contact called the dealer and was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V640000 (Seats, Air Bags) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
Active safety restraint head rests have exploded. It is not possible to sit in seat correctly as they push head forward into airbag now. Dealer says it is not possible to obtain repair parts as they are on back order indefinitely. Vehicle Mileage 19,000
Drivers side headrest deployed while driving the car. No collisions just regular driving. Dealership says I have to pay to have it repaired. This is a safety issue that I should not have to pay for. Apparently it has happened to a lot of Chrysler cars. The headrest is not fixed and is available for inspection if needed.
I was driving and I went over a speed bump. The driver's side headrest exploded outward and hit my head very hard. Upon inspection, it looks like a plastic brace failed. The dealer says there is no recall. They say it will cost $700. There were no warnings.
THE HEADREST OF MY SEAT POPPED OUT WHILE DRIVING AND FORCEFULLY HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD. THE OCCURRENCE WAS RANDOM AND HAPPENED DANGEROUSLY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. LUCKILY I WASN'T SEVERELY HARMED IN THE PROCESS HOWEVER I DO IMAGINE THAT A DRIVER CAN POTENTIALLY BE HARMED SEVERELY WITHIN THIS OCCURRENCE. I FELT AS IF I WAS PUNCHED IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITH BRUTE FORCE
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SAFETY HEADREST SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD CAUSE THIS. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE HEADREST I NOTICED BROKEN PIECES OF PLASTIC IN THE MECHANISM.
DRIVER 1 PARKED CAR IN GARAGE AFTER 2 HOUR DRIVE. DRIVER 2 ENTERED CAR ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER AND FOUND DRIVER HEADREST HAD EXPLODED IN CAR. HEADREST WAS RAISED SEVERAL INCHES HIGHER. THE PADDED PORTION WAS PUSHED FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES AND WAS SEPARATED INTO 2 PIECES EXPOSING INTERIOR OF HEADREST EXPOSED. RESETTING ONLINE STEPS FAILED - BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE EXPOSED. DEALER REPAIR ESTIMATE IS PENDING. VEHICLE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT WORKING SAFETY DEVICES. AFRAID PASSENGER SIDE WILL DO THE SAME. MY CAR WAS NOT RECALLED TO FIX THIS ISSUE IN 2017. WHY? THANKFULLY WE WEREN'T IN THE CAR WHEN THIS THING WENT OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING IN HER MOTHERS 2013 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING IN A PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEN THE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT AN IMPACT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS INJURED TO THE BACK OF HER HEAD CAUSING A CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION AT A HOSPITAL. THE CONTACT CALLED DAVE DENNIS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 4232 COLONEL GLENN HWY, DAYTON, OH 45431, AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE AND WAS QUOTED WITH A FEE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.*DT *JB
THE ACTIVE HEAD REST DEPLOYED. THE CAR WAS PARKED ALMOST A MONTH AGO IN PERFECT CONDITION, I CAME OUT TO START THE CAR AND BEFORE STARTING THE CAR I NOTICED IT WAS DEPLOYED. THE CAR WAS IN NO ACCIDENT AND WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME. UPON INSPECTION THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE ROD BROKE INSIDE THE ACTIVE HEAD REST. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. IT IS HIGHLY CONCERNING THAT THE HEAD REST COULD GO OFF AT ANY MINUTE DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN AND QUALITY OF THE HEADREST. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND TURNED OFF.
THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET, THEN RANDOMLY THE PASSENGER HEADREST AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE HEADREST EXPLODED ON THE BACK OF THE PASSENGERS HEAD AND NECK. THE DRIVER HEADREST AIR BAG AND ALL OTHER AIR BAG/ SAFETY FEATURES APPEAR TO BE INTACT AND DID NOT DEPLOY.
THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT (AHR) DEPLOYED DESPITE THE CAR BEING PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED. THE HEADREST WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED AS A PLASTIC PIECE INSIDE THE HEADREST CRACKED AND THEREFORE JOLTED FORWARD THE HEADREST ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR WAS OTHERWISE IN GOOD CONDITION BUT THE FAULTY HEADREST PRESENTS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS IT COULD DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR COULD HAVE CAUSED NECK/HEAD TRAUMA IF A PASSENGER HAD BEEN IN THE CAR.
MY CAR WAS PARKED AND AS I WAS ENTERING MY CAR IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND LEANED MY BACK AGAINST THE SEAT TO ADJUST MY POSITION IN THE CAR SEAT, THE HEADREST AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY TO BE TOLD THE PART WAS DISCONTINUED AND NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED AS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, SO I HAD TO PUT ZIP STRIPS ON IT SO I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE PART TO HAVE IT REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR EXTERNAL FORCE FROM A COLLISION, AND FORCEFULLY HIT ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD.*DT CONSUMER HAD A WHIPLASH AND HAS CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER.*JB
MY CHRYSLER 200'S HEADREST "SAFETY FEATURE" EXPLODED INTO THE BACK OF MY HEAD AS THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THIS WAS ENOUGH FORCE TO STUN AND CONCUSS ME, I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING CAUSING A DEADLY ACCIDENT. *TR
THE HEADREST ON DRIVERS SIDE HAS DEPLOYED TWICE IN 7 YRS WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT INVOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE IDLING, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST IMPACT UNIT DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER ARRIGO DODGE LOCATED AT (2250 STATE RD. 7, MARGATE FL. 33063) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
WHILE SITTING IN MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE CAR IN PARK, THE DRIVER HEADREST POPPED OPEN AND STRUCK THE BACK OF MY HEAD.
HEADREST POPPED OUT WHILE DRIVING
WHILE I WAS SITTING IN MY PARKED VEHICLE, ENGINE OFF, LEANING TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE CAR TO ADJUST SOMETHING THE HEADREST OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY. IT IS UNABLE TO BE RE-ATTACHED, AND I FOUND A SMALL PIECE OF BROKEN PLASTIC IN THE REAR SEAT THAT HADN'T BEEN THERE BEFORE. HAVING LOOKED AT RECALL INFORMATION AND OTHER INCIDENT REPORTS, I BELIEVE THIS TO BE IN THE SAME CATEGORY OF SOME OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING HEADREST FAILURES. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY DEALER TO GET THIS REPAIRED. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2013.
DRIVER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING ON SMOOTH HIGHWAY SURFACE AT 70MPH MAKING A LARGE NOISE AND HITTING HARD THE BACK OF DRIVER'S HEAD. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS OR INDICATION OF PROBLEMS ON THE DASH BOARD. AFTER I EXAMINED THE HEADREST THE PLASTIC HOLDING THE METAL BAR HAD DETERIORATED SO THAT THE BAR COULD NOT BE PLACED BACK IN ITS ORIGINAL SPOT, AND THE BAR WAS FOUND IN THE CLAMP BELOW. THE CLAMP WAS STILL LOCKED. THE HEADREST COULD NOT BE RESET SINCE THE PLASTIC WAS BROKEN. THE HEADREST IN THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD 3 RECALLS FOR NOT DEPLOYING IN AN ACCIDENT AND ALL HAVE BEEN SERVICED ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS HAD NO REASON TO DEPLOY. THE FORCE WHEN DEPLOYING CAN CAUSE NECK OR HEAD INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANT AND THEREFORE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE COMPANY WOULD NOT COVER...
AT APPROXIMATELY 3:10PM ON 8/29/19, THE CAR WAS ON AND IN PARK WITH THE AC TURNED ON, AS MY SON IN LAW WAS PLACING HIS 33-MONTH BABY IN THE CAR SEAT, LOCATED BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. MY SON IN LAW SAT DOWN IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND WAS PULLING HIS FEET INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD BLAST AND FELT THE SEAT HEADREST EXPLODE AGAINST HIS NECK AND BACK. HE STATES HE MAY HAVE BLACKED OUT FOR AN UNDETERMINED TIME. ALTHOUGH HE WAS DISORIENTED, HE THEN TURNED AROUND IN THE SEAT TO CHECK ON HIS SON, WHO WAS CRYING. HE NOTED THAT THE HEADREST WAS SPLIT APART. NO NOTATION OF ANY DUST OR PARTICLES WERE NOTED. HE THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY AT OUR HOME. MY SON IN LAW HAD BAD HEADACHES THAT NIGHT, SO I ENCOURAGED HIM TO GO TO THE...
"TAKATA RECALL" MY FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST OPENED UP AND CAN NOT BE PUT BACK TOGETHER. I CAME OUT TO GET IN AND IT WAS OPEN. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE. THE CAR WAS SETTING STILL.
ON AUGUST 20TH I NOTICED THE HEADREST ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD DEPLOYED. THE HEADREST MECHANISM DEPLOYED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I NOTICED SEVERAL SMALL PIECES OF BLACK PLASTIC ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. UPON EXAMINING THE HEADREST, I SAW THAT THE PLASTIC WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD A SPRING MECHANISM HAD FAILED. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT WAS ALLEGEDLY FIXED DURING AN EARLIER CHRYSLER RECALL, AS THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE ARH NOT DEPLOYING. IT NOW APPEARS THAT THE FIX MAY BE CALIBRATED TOO SENSITIVE AND THE AHR DEPLOYS WITH NO TRIGGER EVENT. MY CHRYSLER 200 HAD 51,000 MILES WHEN THIS OCCURRED; IT IS STILL COVER BY A PLATINUM SERVICE CONTRACT ALTHOUGH THE DEALER IS BALKING AT ALLOWING THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEFECTIVE HEADREST IS STILL INSTALLED IN THE CAR. I AM CONTACTING CHRYSLER TO MAKE THE NEEDED REPAIRS AS WELL.
DRIVER'S HEAD RESTRAINT WAS ACTIVATED WITHOUT CAUSE. DEALER REPLACEMENT COSTS $390.00, NOT INCLUDING SERVICE AND INSTALLATION CHARGES. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN AN AREA OUTSIDE A MEETING PLACE AND THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT AND HIS SPOUSE WERE INVOLVED IN A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S WIFE SUSTAINED SEVERE WHIPLASH, AND INJURIES TO THE BACK AND HEAD. THE CONTACT INJURED HIS CHEST ON THE STEERING WHEEL. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A NEW GRILL, BUMPER, PAINT AND DOORS WERE ADDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRASH WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (SEATS AND AIR BAGS). THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,066.
WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKED VEHICLE AT A GAS STATION, THE HEADREST POP OPEN BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE BACK OF THE HEADREST CAUSING MY HEAD TO HURT FOR HOURS. UNFORTUNATELY, I'VE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON MY OWN.
I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN A CHRYSLER 200 2013. WE WERE ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING A VIOLENT JOLT AND INJURIES TO MYSELF. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO DEPLOY. THE ROAD WAS SMOOTH..NO POT HOLES. NOTHING HIT THE CAR. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. IT WAS SUDDEN,LOUD AND ABRUPT.*DT*JB*DT *TP
IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER THE DRIVERS SEAT HEADREST ANTI WHIPLASH RESTRAINT DEPLOYED
