On Jan 2nd 2023 I just left the grocery store with my youngest daughter and heading home. While on the freeway my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie stopped accelerating even with my foot on the gas and my head lights shut off and dash lights were flickering and I lost complete power while making it to the next exit barely able to turn the wheel since no power steering was available and we made it about half way up the ramp and stalled completely. Yes I said up the off ramp and check the date it was SNOWING! WITH MY CHILD IN THE TRUCK. No power, no hazard lights NOTHING to keep us from getting hit. I was able to get it jumped went bought a AGM battery and by the time I drove back home which is about 2 miles the new BATTERY WAS DEAD. Bring it to the dealership...

We bought this truck used around September of last year and it took a couple of months to start having issues. First, when we would turn the truck on and it would crank, we would hear an occasional knock in the rear end. Like something being reemed out. Recently, one two separate occasions, two separate days, we were going to town and all of a sudden the A/C stopped working and extremely hot air started blowing through the vents and we couldn't turn it off or anything. The knobs to turn off the AC didn't turn it off. The only solution was to pull over on the side of the road and kill the truck and then crank it again. I can only imagine if someone else has this truck and a baby or even elderly was sitting in the vehicle and it changed over like this, it would've suffocated...

The power steering went out during a left turn and as I parked I couldn’t turn the truck off with the push start I had to disconnect both battery terminals in order to shut the truck off with the push start the power steering light has continuously been on and flashes on the display whenever you make a turn According to the manufacturers books provide it with the truck it says that if you shut the truck off it will reset when you restart that has not happened Spoke with the Dodge dealer and since there’s no recall he advised me that I would have to bring it in for diagnostics and have it repaired myself

Bought 2019 RAM used in March 2020, had 22,500 miles. One morning the radio display began flickering and jumping around to different screens or settings as if someone was controlling it or logged into the control unit. This happened a few times. I videoed some of this going on with my phone. Then called the dealer. They said they would need it to happen while at the shop to determine the problem. Of course it stopped before I made it to the dealer. Dealer looked into it but could not determine an issue or problem. However it appeared to be fixed after that visit. There have be occasions that I’ve had problems starting the truck. It’s almost as if the truck does not sync with key. After removing key, open and shut door or flipping key over, turn key it cranks. January 10, while at work, everything was working fine...

The power steering light came on, then the steering wheel began to move in a short abruption manner. Afterwards it was difficult to turn while driving and impossible while in park or at a stop. Vehicle was built in Oct 17, 2018 which there was a recall on other trucks but not this one. Once I went to the dealership and was informed that in fact it was not on the recall, I left. On the way home the steering wheel began the abrupt movement again while I was driving, I lost control of the vehicle for about 5-10 seconds swerving all over the road putting myself and everyone around me at risk. Once I gained full control it went back to normal, steering wheel had full range of motion with no needed of excessive force. “Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module "A"-” was what was presented as the...

My power steering is not functioning properly. I have to let my truck warm up for an extended amount of time otherwise it doesn't function. There is a malfunction indicator light that comes in and tells me the power steering needs serviced. Sometimes, even after 30 minutes of warming up, it still doesn't work. I have had it cut out and stop working while I'm driving and been forced to drive it without the power steering working. There is no indication when it will cut on or shut off. It has abruptly started working in the middle of driving and nearly caused me to be in several accidents and almost caused me to run off the road twice. This is a known issue by the manufacturer for the same year, make and model as mine, but for some reason I'm told my vehicle is not included in the recall. This...

Experience: Ongoing issue and reproducible each time driving. Notice "stuck" feeling in steering at speeds over 45mph. "Stuck" feeling consistently reproduced while at highway speeds making left bend, left lane change, or slight left turn. Problem consistently occurs between 10 and 11 o'clock angle. Problem occurs occasionally with right bends, lane changes, and turns. Problem was experienced immediately at purchase of the vehicle (34K miles) but not fixed until 47k miles. Safety Concern: Problem occurs at high speeds and jerking the steering wheel to correct for the "stick" could lead to overcorrection or slippage, especially in poor weather conditions. Unsafe in dense traffic. Dealer: Dealer identified the issue with the rack and pinion. Dealer said "found rack to have internal fault replaced and set toe cn". Dealer mentioned there was an electrical short in the rack and pinion causing the "stick". Inspection: No inspection made by anyone other than the...

While driving, the truck lost power steering and the EPS light came on.

When driving the truck at times the steering sticks to the left when making a left turn. The steering sticks around the 9-11 o'clock position on the steering wheel and will not return to center unless you turn the wheel yourself. You can feel the sticking when you bump the wheel toward 12 o'clock to return to center. It is definitely a safety issue and makes me extremely nervous while it is occurring. What if it will not allow me to correct the turning at some point it will cause an accident. I've had it at the garage and they said they could not reproduce the sticking when they were driving it. It does not occur at all times typically only happens after driving the truck for a little while >30 minutes or so. I purchased the truck in April 2022 and it has been occurring off and on since.

Went for routine maintenance and was told a front axle shaft retainer clip had failed allowing axle to move away from differential. This was at the Dodge RAM dealer. Car is a 2019. I called to speak to Dodge representative and was told this was a recall issue but not for my VIN. I find it hard to believe that this failure on a 3 year old truck would not be due to a similar issue.

I was pulling out of my work parking lot and right as soon as I’m trying to make the turn out of the parking lot my steering wheel would not turn. Thank God I was still in the parking lot, but I was not able to move my steering wheel at all, the dealer said that it was a full painting rack failure in the steering column itself along with the power steering. I have to get my whole fuse and everything replaced, including the whole front end pin rack.

My vehicle is experiencing electrical issues that cause major systems to stop working while driving. This includes internal messaging screens, blind spot warning and various other systems failing. The most serious of which is the electronic power steering. It went out several times while driving and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. The first time it happened I was traveling and had to take the vehicle to a non dealer repair shop where they replaced the alternator. This initially appeared to resolve the issue but ultimately the problem returned with a few days. FCA has been unable to determine the cause and my truck remains at a local dealership.
#11490395 |
I had a failed 48v battery for the etourque system so the 12v battery was no longer being charged. I had a dispute with the dealer so I picked up the truck and began to drive home. As the generator/alternator for the etourque system was not able to charge the 48v and 12v batteries due to the 48v battery fault, the engine and all systems were running on whatever charge was left in the 12v battery. When the battery began to completely discharge, systems began to fail/go offline. Though the engine was still running as I tried to find a safe spot to pull off the road, the electric power steering failed. Unlike a traditional hydraulic power steering system failure where the wheel can be turned easily at speed and with effort at minimal speed, I was almost unable to turn the wheel at all at over 30 miles per...

Electronic Power Steering Failed, Rack and Pinion was replaced and dealer kept the failed component , Was impossible to safely steer the vehicle and maintain control the vehicle, luckily it failed at a location that didn't result in a crash! Failure was confirmed by Dealer and Rack and Pinion had to be replaced. Happened without any prior warnings or symptoms

Three weeks ago, my electrical power steering failed in a parking lot. This locked up the steering wheel going 10 mph. After this, the steering wheel was extremely difficult to move and almost resulted in a collision. I then restarted my truck and the issue went away; however, my steeirng wheel continued to drift and not maintain a straight direction. Two weeks later, roughly 700 miles, the same issue happened again. This time, however, I was travelling roughly 65 mph when the steering failed. A warning popped up on the dashboard only after the steering system failed. This was extremely dangerous because had I not been on a straight road this would have certainly caused my vehicle to crash. This issue was confirmed yesterday by my local Ram dealership. They told me and quoted me that I need to have my "Electric Power Steering Module (Rack)" replaced. The vehicle has...

The contact's son owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, and the dealer informed the contact's son that he needed to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic test. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at 45-60 MPH, the steering warning light was illuminated. The contact did not experience any mechanical failures and continued driving. However, the failure reoccurred and the steering wheel lost power steering intermittently while driving the next day. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) as the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,010.
#11477385 |

When traveling at low speeds when turning right the power steering feels like it is going to go out. I noticed that there have been recalls on the 2019 Ram 1500 due to power steering problems. I believe there is something wrong with my vehicle and should be included with the other 2019 Ram 1500's that were recalled for power steering failure. I'm voicing my concern because it is probably only a matter of time before I have a major issue with the power steering.

I was driving on I-75 at approximately 73 mph when my instrument panel lights blinked and then turned off. My vehicle lost all power, I turned the steering wheel about 5-10 degrees to the right and my steering wheel locked. I could not press the brake pedal because it was stuck. I was able to get on the side of the highway where vehicle stopped. Hazard lights did not work, I could not unlock doors, start, or stop the car. When the tow truck came, they checked the battery and it had good voltage. The truck was towed to Feldman Ram dealership since 16 June 2022. I am being told that Mechanics are having difficulty figuring out the problem to this day.

- There's a malfunction with the rack and pinion resulting in the steering wheel to get stuck in a position while traveling at highway speeds. When making a lane change or a left bend at speeds above 45mph, the steering wheel is sticking at about 20-30 degrees from the top. This results in jolting to overcorrect the steering and get the steering components unstuck. - The component is available for inspection upon request. - The problem is currently being looked at by the dealer, but I have not sought for them to reproduce the problem. - No official inspection has been performed, yet. - No.

My steering wheel, at high speeds of 60+ mph, would "stick" when turning left, at approximately the 11 to 10 o-clock positions. This stickiness meant the wheel would not return back to center when releasing left turn pressure on its own. It would actually require small amount of force back the other way in which it would "pop" out of the sticky position, causing some very unsafe and scary jerk of the wheels. Both my wife and I experienced it every time the truck was driven on the freeway until we parked the truck due to it being unsafe to drive. I sent the vehicle to the local RAM dealership and they diagnosed it to be an entire "steering rack failure" that would need to be replaced at my cost because the factory warranty time period of 36 months ended, though the mileage period did NOT end as the truck...

Driving home from work , as I slowed to turn on to the road that takes me home , I lost power steering, for a brief second I thought I was gonna crash into a on coming vehicle. It then came back and I was able to regain control. The power steering in getting increasingly worse and is happening all the time .there are no service lights displayed, but I am nervous to drive the vehicle. I have taken it to the dealership where the truck was purchased but they have directed me to an actual ram dealership, they said it will be covered under my manufacturer's warranty being that it only has 26,000 miles . This issue is becoming increasingly problematic and stressful since this is the only vehicle I have to drive . I work 1 hour away from home and I am becoming scared to drive it...

when driving and having to turn my truck gets really hard to turn and gets stuck while turning making me stay in on coming lane for a bit
#11461790 |
Power steering went out. Night of 4/7 I got a notice on the dash saying service power steering as I parked my truck. Morning of 4/8 I went out to take my truck to the dealership to have it looked at and power steering was completely gone. There is an open recall for the exact year model of my make and model however mine is not listed under the recall. After speaking with a Ram customer care rep they advised I reach out here and make an incident report as this may possibly fall under the recall however it was possibly a mistake made given my vehicle is somehow not covered.

Lost power steering- got it back. Had some warnings lights come up then went away. Power steering went on and off while driving. Dealer working on repair said it’s not warrantied. $4500 repair. Dealer claims electrical connection to power steering rack failed from corrosion. How can a sealed connection corrode. Need help.

When turning at low speeds to the right the steering will make a vibration and shake a little. At firts I thought was the abs or traction control acting up but now you can definitely feel the vibration coming from the electric assist.
#11455517 | Crash
my power steering doesn't work properly on my 2019 Ram 1500 classic. when i drive it goes in and out of power steering. i see there is a recall for FCA US has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Electric Power Steering (EPS) gears intended for use on 2013 – 2019 Model Year (DS) Ram 1500 pickup trucks. Some EPS gear assemblies may have been built with a contaminated circuit card assembly that may short circuit. A short in the control circuit components may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist which may cause an inconsistent steering effort, especially during lower speed maneuvers. Inconsistent steering effort can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning but both FCA and Duluth dodge refuse to inspected the vehicle because they say its not part of the recall.... but it was manufactured in 11/18 which...

Vehicle makes a noise similar to the antilock braking sound when making right turns. Ram does not have a fix for the issue. The issue is happening more frequently.

On October 27, 2021 I was pulling into a parking lot at extremely low speed and upon turning heard a pop noise and felt a minimal jolt in the steering wheel. Letter in the day as I was leaving I turned right to come home and had the same experience. The next morning same thing at slow speed turning either left or right. Made appointment at dealer for first available date which was November 1, 2021. I received this from the dealer service team: Concern Critical Customer States There’S A Popping In The Front End Wall Turning Issue TEST DRIVE AND INSPECT FRONT SUSPENSION - PASSENGER FRONT SWAY BAR LINK WORN/SEPARATED DRIVER SIDE ALSO SHOWING SIGNS OF FAILING NEEDS BOTH REPLACED AND ALIGHNMENT Recommendation REPLACE SWAY BAR LINKS AND ALIGNMENT with an almost $1,300.00 repair bill. Steering control While driving higher then 40 MPH the steering stick both right and left when going around a bend. This has caused 2 oversteering events with out accidents or injuries. This will be much more dangerous during inclement weather, especially snow. The dealer or service has not been contacted as of yet, nor have the parts been inspected. No working lamps were illuminated. This vehicle is a Certified Preowned that was purchased out of state. The problem was noted during the ride home after picking up then vehicle. Originally I thought it was the tires, it was not.

5.7 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel with MDS engine stop with low MPH and turning onto oncoming traffic. I was not accelerating, nor applying the brake. Just slowly rolling into a left turn. It has happened about 4 times and usually during a U-turn. Only two options to get it out of condition during oncoming traffic!!! 1) Engine dies, apply the brake, shift to park, release the parking brake, shift to drive 2) While still rolling in turn, engage/turn the shifter to neutral and lightly touch the brake pedal, the engine will start, then shift into drive
