Service electronic braking system message came on along with the traction control light
Exhaust manifold bolts on the passenger side of the vehicle (2019, 5.7 Hemi, Larami version) have broken. The exhaust system is leaking. An exhaust smell and taste is readily detectable when standing near the cab doors of the vehicle. There is an unknown, regarding if any amount of the exhaust is being drawn into the cab air intake.
When I attempted to suddenly brake once I saw the car in front of me braking, my brakes locked and the truck slid into the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the ESC system did not allow the expected intervention that is relied upon to avoid a vehicle crash without prior warning. I was in the deceleration phase of braking quickly, but the brakes did not respond in a timely manner. I was not made aware of the recall of the ABS control module software until after the accident took place. If I would have been made aware of such a defect I would have taken the precautions and action to repair or remedy the failed system to avoid unnecessary risk to both myself and others. Quick hard accel (less than 5 seconds), followed by emergency braking, caused the brakes to not respond for more than one second. Brakes would not emergency brake, only had minor stopping force. This occurs on the first time, so brake fade is ruled out. Starting the vehicle, than rapidly putting into gear D or R, while brakes are applied causes vehicle to lurch forward or backward depending on the gear chosen. Movement of over a full truck length is possible. I suspect it's a problem with the logic in the electronic braking. I can reproduce it whenever I'd like, but no accidents have occurred yet.
This incident has happened several times. As I back out of my garage, the brakes are violently slammed on and the truck bounces on the springs. It's stops so fast, it alarms me and my passangers. When it brakes, it also makes a loud long screeching noise. There is a TSB out for this issue: 08-076-18. As I back out of the garage, there is no obstacles in the path, I do hear the normal beeping noises as my garage has about 8 to 12 inches clearance on each side of the mirror. I feel like this shouldn't be a TSB, it should be a recall as this could be a safety issue.
The component lights came on advising they cannot be used along with a check engine light. I took it to the dealership, which I have the Mopar lifetime warranty. They hooked it up to the computer and charged 800 dollars for a software update and said it is not covered under warranty unless its a safety issue. All of these systems are safety items installed in the vehicle which I rely upon. It is a safety issue when not in use because of a software update that one must pay for.
The truck has problems with electrical on and off. Today because driver assistance sensors did not work I got into a wreck.
Digital dash display very seldom lights up so I can't track tire pressure, mileage and warning lights It should light up when the door opens
PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD INNER END OUTER SEPARATED AND UPON INSPECTION THREADS HAD RUSTED AND THEY PULLED APART IN A SIMPLE LEFT TURN. LUCKILY IT AS AT LOW SPEED, BUT HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT HAD IT HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE. DEALERSHIP AND TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS ON A 2019 VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES.
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK. THE PARKING SENSORS DATA DOES NOT DISPLAY. THE MILEAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY. THE TEMPERATURE AND OIL PRESSURE DO NOT DISPLAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FORWARD COLLISION AUTOMATIC BRAKING ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF WARWICK (185 NY-94, WARWICK, NY 10990 (845) 986-2021) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
