2019 RAM 1500 Back Over Prevention Warnings Problems

Unkown, but while driving, I got these alarms all of sudden at the same time.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The issue involved the truck’s parking and collision avoidance systems, which suddenly shut off. A warning message appeared on the dashboard stating "Service Shifter." This issue may be related to the electronic shifter module or associated control systems. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -The sudden deactivation of both the parking and collision systems while the vehicle was in motion created a serious safety hazard. Without collision avoidance functionality and the ability to securely park the vehicle, there was increased risk of unintentional vehicle movement or inability to avoid obstacles, which could have led to a crash or injury. The star connector on the CAN C BUS will start to have communication problems with the all the systems on that star connector approximately after about 15 to 20 min after driving. Systems that were constantly going in and out were the front and rear parking sense, ABS and traction would go out. Service shifter message, caused the transmission to up shift while driving at a constant speed. After getting a check engine light, I hooked up my code reader and had a code for the park sense control module. I proceeded to replace that module and was unable to get the code to go away. The issues started with the sunroof not closing. And the uconnect touch screen inoperable ( it went black and no options available ) It seemed to be a fluke and resolved itself. But within a few weeks the icons for the driver and passenger seat heaters were no longer on the screen. Now that the season has changed and temps have dropped, the drivers side heater will automatically come on when the truck is started and it’s below a certain degree outside. It gets crazy hot and will only shut off when the truck is turned off. This was followed by the icons for the radio options resorting themselves and the one for USB disappearing as well. To whom it may concern, I am making a safety complaint on a component that failed while operating the vehicle. My vehicle is a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn DT. The component that failed and almost cost me to crash my truck while in reverse and parking is called The Park Sense and The Rear Parking Assist . I started to have this problem back in the Summer around August 2024. I have brought the vehicle in to my dealer ( CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PARAMUS N. J.) several times already, the first time they replaced the Park Sense Sensor Module and reset the computer. Collision sensors stoped vehicle approx.15 feet short when backing into my carport.

I am receiving a warning light that reads: Service Shifter, Park sense not available, warning with no display, and the vehicle shifts from drive to neutral with a display message to put the truck in Park then shift to Drive while in motion. My safety is put at risk because when driving I have no warning the vehicle is going to shift itself into neutral and vehicles are driving behind me. I have to make a complete stop because I cannot accelerate in neutral. It has happened twice on a busy street in my city. I took the truck to Sierra RAM and they had the vehicle for 4-days and advised they could not replicate the issue. I drove off and immediately the Service Shifter warning came on. Wire harness is available for inspection Wire harness for rear parking sensors needed to be replaced. Sensors not active which could have caused a collision. Service tech at dealership says they have seen many wire harness failures. Parts have NOT been inspected by any party Dashboard showed need to take front and rear parking sensors in for service

The radio system Uconnect the backup camera screen freezes in position causing confusion while backing up. My truck has 22,000 miles on it they say it's not covered under warranty and they cannot fix the problem the screen is also delaminating on the radio which causes function of the controls to network and very distracting while driving down the road. Difficulty changing radio stations and the system automatically changes and does things for you it even tries to call SOS for you for no reason at all.

The dashboard cluster frequently goes blank. This is where I can see the speed I’m driving, if my oil needs to be changed, my backup camera and warning messages etc. this is a complete safety hazard. I went to get my inspection and emissions done and they couldn’t complete it because they couldn’t gather the information needed because the dash was blank. I also see that this an ongoing problem with rams and I’m not the only one, there have been 100s of people stating the same thing. I feel like this is something that needs to be rectified. My car is only 2 years old it shouldn’t be having these major issues already.

The instrument cluster often does not illuminate upon startup and as a result, the odometer, speed, parking sensors among other things do not alert me in the display. Some times upon starting the vehicle it starts up fine, other times it does not light up for a few minutes/miles than turns on, or does not turn on at all. There is currently a recall for this same issue "V83" for 2019 Ram 1500's, which is what I own, but I am told that my VIN was not listed in the recall. There is a lot of chatter online with others describing the same issue. I have not taken it to the dealer or had it inspected yet. This issue started a few months ago, is intermittent, but seems to now be happening every few startups.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SCREEN IS BLANK THIS SCREEN DISPLAYS BASICALLY EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF. WHEN IT'S BLANK YOU'RE DRIVING BLIND. IT HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BECAUSE IT IS BLANK. HAVE FILED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH FCA. NO WARNING MESSAGES------IT JUST SIMPLY QUIT WORKING.

THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK. THE PARKING SENSORS DATA DOES NOT DISPLAY. THE MILEAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY. THE TEMPERATURE AND OIL PRESSURE DO NOT DISPLAY.
