Air suspension keeps failing in cold weather.
I have what seems to a manufacturing issue with my ram 1500. The air suspension will not stay inflated after taking it to the dealership. They cited no issues but the problem continues to take place.
De breakes light its somethimes flashing in the panel and my suspensionsistem i pay tochange because its was damage and the garanted didnt apicate
I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 in November and have since been unable to pass state inspection due to several issues with the vehicle. I have contacted the dealership three times to request repairs, but they have repeatedly told me there is nothing they can do. I reached out to the Massachusetts Lemon Law, and they advised me to contact a lawyer immediately. The problems preventing my vehicle from passing inspection include excessive play in the bushing of the right front upper control arm, excessive play in the ball joint of the right front lower control arm, issues with both front struts, and excessive wear on the stub shafts of the front differential assembly, necessitating a front axle replacement since a kit is unavailable. Additionally, both front axle shafts need attention, and I require four-wheel spacers to prevent tire rubbing, as well as four fender flares. Within the first 30...
Had my truck in for service and they found a cracked right front CV axle and carrier joint. I was told that this is a safety issue and could lead to uncontrolled steering, but then was told by two different dealers that the part is on national backorder with no time frame for availability. I was also told that this is a common issue and other RAM1500 models have had warranty repair or recalls, but none seems to be available for mine.
Air suspension failure on front drivers side 2019 Ram Rebel. When it was below freezing outside, a warning message flashed across the screen saying service air suspension immediately. Went home and got up later to drive again and the warning message was gone, never to be seen again. Fast forward and it was extremely hot out. Noticed the truck was leaning to one side. Jumped in, started it, and the height recentered. Got out and could hear an active air leak. Drove for a while and would always raise and lower as normal. Issue seemed to go away. Finally, it came back. When trying to change the heights, a message flashed that said “Air suspension system overheating. Ride height safe to maintain.” Sent to dealership. Took 2 days to find issue. My 2019 Ram 1500 is experiencing the exact same issues listed in recall 75B but my VIN number is not part of the recall. The symptoms that it is having are the exact ones listed in your recall from 9/11/24 concerning the ABS and stability control issues. It is very disheartening that there wasn’t a better investigation done on this issue either on your end or on Ram’s end. I’m sure there are plenty more vehicles that are affected that aren’t in this recall. My truck did it as I was going highway speeds (70mph) and the abs and stability control issues also disengaged my speed control as I was on the highway. It was a good thing there wasn’t another car behind me or I would have been struck from behind.
Chime comes on. Then displays parksense temporarily unavailable. Then a few seconds later another chime and a display come on and reads service shifter. And if my cruise control is on the vehicle disengages the cruise control. When this happens occasionally will disengage the transmission and I will have to pull over and shut the vehicle off then start it back off. Then it will let me put it back in gear. When the vehicle will also start up sometimes and the shifter will not let me put it in gear. Then I’ll shut it down. Restart it then it will be ok. The vehicle has been in Ram service department 4 times. Twice in Nevada and twice in California. They haven’t been able to rectify the problem. The first time in the shop was back in May. The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with alternator, tension belt, torque sensor, and CV axle shaft failure. The contact was informed that the alternator, tension belt, torque sensor, and CV axle shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 82,032.
The steering rack overheated causing the vehicle to lock up while being driven. Looked issue up online and see this has been an issue and recall for other Ram pickups but Dodge Ram says my truck not covered under recall. I do not drive aggressive nor has this vehicle been used to haul anything heavy. It has 81000 miles on it. Dodge dealership says the electric power steering module has a fault and needs to be replaced but says the module can't be replaced without replacing full rack and pinion steering as well as module for $3000.
This truck as well as multiple others I have seen complaints on multiple dodge ram forums where something is causing the battery to die then the stability control light comes on and the the truck will not change gears until the battery is completely disconnected to "reset" the computer and then it's like the battery never died. It works great with no issues for months then out of nowhere the exact same issue happens once again. We have spent thousands of dollars fixing this issue to no avail just keep replacing parts that apparently aren't the fix. So far we have replaced the torque converter, the battery as well as paying for multiple diagnostics to which they keep replacing the battery saying that is the issue but obviously it can't be the battery when it's getting replaced over and over SOMETHING is causing this draw making the battery die. The 4wd has never worked in my 2019 Ram 1500. I bought the truck in November of the same year, I tried to engage the 4wd with the snow that year and it would not engage. Notification showed service 4wd, I took it to a ram dealer in South Carolina where I worked out of town they had it for two days and they informed me they didn't know what was wrong with it. I then took it to the dealer at home they kept it overnight and installed a new actuator. It engaged the first time and then back to service 4wd. This time was different it stayed in neutral, I turned the emergency brake on and turned the truck off. The contact stated that the vehicle had seized in the middle of the road. The contact was able to safely get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed rear suspension and a failed rear differential axle and that the rear suspension and rear differential axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear suspension axle seized again. I am not sure if this issue is electrical or suspension or even computer related. My car battery was dead after just driving it a few hours ago. I came out and heard a noise coming from the truck that sounded strange coming from under the hood, like something was trying to start or like a long delayed switching sound or airpump (I'm not sure). When starting the vehicle it only clicked and the battery showed low, the air suspension, airbags, safety systems and a lot more all lit up on my dashboard. Left rear shock absorber reservoir broke and fell from the vehicle. It appears the weldment is defective. Had this happened while traveling at highspeed the reservoir tank could have caused serious damage, injury or death. The uploaded picture shows the left shock above with the missing reservoir tank. The right shock has the mfg information.
2019 ram 1500 bighorn 5.7 slowed down truck started shaking really bad , throttle actuator mass airflow, stability control come on. Tried to start it quit and tried again engine started to turn over and stopped no lights nothing local shop said cylinder #8 gone engine locked needs engine 76,844 miles not under warranty had 2 other rams up to almost 150k no problems
The sway bar bushings failed under 36000 miles. I had been hearing a clunk since 25000k, and it was only diagnosed at 35000 miles. The issue started in Feb 2022, fixed in July 2022 under warranty. Initially looked at by Lindsay CDJR in Manassas VA. Second look by Farrish CDJR in Fairfax. June 2022. Repaired by Lindsay CDJR in Manassas VA.
On October 27, 2021 I was pulling into a parking lot at extremely low speed and upon turning heard a pop noise and felt a minimal jolt in the steering wheel. Letter in the day as I was leaving I turned right to come home and had the same experience. The next morning same thing at slow speed turning either left or right. Made appointment at dealer for first available date which was November 1, 2021. ALSO TRUCK LURCHES, GRINDS AND RATTLES THE ENTIRE FRONT END SLOWING DOWN OR BACKING UP AT SLOW SPEEDS....THIS HAPPENS WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT BEING APPLIED. MILD TO EXTREME VIBRATION FROM REAR OF THE VEHICLE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE STEERING WHEEL SEATS AND GAS PEDAL AT ANY SPEED BUT WORSENS AS SPEED INCREASES. I LET MY SON OFF AT TSC DOOR, TURNED TO PARK, AND BAM!!, LOUD NOISE AS IF I HIT CONCRETE. I PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD, TO ONLY HAVE MY TRUCK VEER TO THE LEFT, BUMPING UP NEXT TO POLE. WHILE DRIVING, POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE CAUTION FOLLOWED BY SERVICE SUSPENSION IMMEDIATELY. POWER STEERING IS LOST WHILE DRIVING AND INTERMITTENTLY COMES BACK OR IS LOST. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY 'CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG'. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AT 50-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATE.
THE VEHICLE INITIALLY HAD A REPORTED STEERING FAILURE TWICE ON DECEMBER 19TH. THIS WAS REPORTED TO NHTSA UNDER FILE 1162423. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE SAME DAY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THIS OCCURRED. THEN, AGAIN ON DECEMBER 30TH THIS OCCURRED AGAIN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN AND THE DEALER WAS CONCERNED OVER SAFETY ISSUE AND OFFERED A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING, THE POWER STEERING TURN OFF AND AGAIN THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED IN RED " POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED".. THIS WAS DISPLAYED ON THE PRIOR OCCASIONS.... WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY TO THE DEALER THIS LOSS OF STEERING OCCURRED ANOTHER 3 TIMES INTERMITTENTLY WITH ANOTHER WARNING "SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION IMMEDITALEY"....
