More than an incident, I’m concerned it might turn into one. For the past few days, I’ve noticed something unusual (nothing serious for now) with the engine/transmission. When I shift to Drive, the engine seems to jerk a bit or takes a moment to engage the gear. There’s a slight delay, but it doesn’t feel normal. I’m worried because a friend who owns a Rogue had a similar issue, his car wouldn’t start, he took it to the shop, and they told him the engine needed to be replaced. My fear is that this might be the same issue and that it’s related to this recall. I just spoke to Nissan America, and they told me there’s still no solution and that I should call back between August 15 and 18 to check for updates. That seems like a long time for something that could potentially be serious.

My vehicle abruptly went from 65 to 30 while driving with my children on the expressway. The check engine light and three other lights came on, and the car wouldn't start for an hr or so, and then it wouldn't accelerate past 25-30 miles, while all the check engine light and the other lights continued to stay on.

when getting an oil change. I was told buy the technician the oil pan bolt is defective due to a screw being stripped. This has been a known issue with the Nissan Rogue. Many complaints have been listed online with this particular issue. I was told by the technician the oils pan is made of hard plastic and is a common problem

Motor blew. No warning no nothing. Nissan will not do anything about it.

On the morning of 6/18/2025 approximately at 545 am central time my 2023 Nissan Rogue SV lost complete power on Interstate 59 South in Alabama near Gadsden just past the one lane construction zone. No warning lights or check engine lights just had sudden engine noise and seen my rpm’s were holding at 3000 and not accelerating anymore. The noise stopped when the car went into limp mode. I was able to pull over onto shoulder and turned off vehicle. There were no visible leaks or signs of overheating. So called a tow truck to take me to nearest Nissan dealership. After several attempts of trying to crank my engine technicians discover a blown head gasket. Also note since owning vehicle there has been issues with engine misfiring and a spark plug blowing on cylinder 3 around 20k miles.

I am reporting a serious safety issue after three service visits to Star Nissan. Most recently, on July 8, 2025, they performed a full transmission replacement under warranty (see invoice attached). Since receiving the car back, it now makes creaking noises, vibrates severely under acceleration and deceleration, and is completely unsafe to drive. The shaking is so bad I can feel it under my feet and seat, especially at highway speeds (40–50 mph). The car did not have these symptoms before the transmission repair. They claimed they did a test drive, but that is obviously false. This is now the third time I’ve had to return this vehicle for drivetrain-related issues, and I’ve been told to “wait until July 15th” with no resolution while my car is dangerous and undrivable. I’m reporting this as a potential safety risk, negligent repair, and breach of warranty, and I want Nissan investigated for...

The vehicle a Nissan Rogue SV 2023, with a turbo engine constantly decelerated a number of times. sometimes it gave a warning and other times it does not. The first time it happened I started the engine, and the car crawled like a turtle. Even while pressing the gas pedal, it did not go any faster. I stopped the car very perturbed of what to do. I turned the engine on and tried again, and it accelerated as it normally does. This occurred multiple times on different occasions. Vehicle was taken to the dealership on multiple occasions with no solution being offered. I got really frustrated at the dealership because you are the makers of this vehicle which is decelerating for no reason and continues to do so and you claim the reports you run are showing nothing to resolve the issue. I should not be scared of driving my...

I HAVE THE SMELL OF RAW FUEL COMING ENGINE AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF . THE IS VERY NOTICEABLE INSIDE CABIN AREA, AND OUTSIDE OF CAR IF IT IS IN GARAGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP TO MY NISSAN DEALER EACH TIME I BRING IT IN FOR SEVICE. I RECIEVE THE SAME ANSWER EACH TIME THERE NOTHING FROM NISSAN ON THIS ISSUE. THE SMELL OF GAS IS OVER BEARING AT TIMES , AND I'M AFRAID THAT IT MAY CATCH FIRE. THIS HAS BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHACED THE CAR NEW.

While on the highway heading to Florida....... all kinds of lights came on and reduced the speed. It was hard to understand what happened but I made it to the Nissan place halfway through the trip. They couldn't do much and had no loaners but the reset the codes in my car. As it was cleared..... everything went back to normal as of nothing happened. But on my way back home ..... it happened again. This time I couldn't make it to Nissan but I made it to auto zone and a local shop in Orangeburg. They received 13 different codes. Again.... there's was nothing they could do so they man reset the codes in my car. Clear the code n I made it home safely with my family.

Subject: 2023 Nissan Rogue SV – Thermostat and Oil Temperature Sensor Failure I am reporting a mechanical failure involving our 2023 Nissan Rogue SV that may represent a broader safety concern. We purchased the vehicle used, in excellent condition, with the goal of traveling safely with our two young sons. Just 31 days after purchase, and only 1,800 miles into ownership, the thermostat assembly and oil temperature sensor assembly failed without warning. The incident occurred over 900 miles from our home and 450 miles from our intended destination, leaving our family stranded far from support. We brought the vehicle to Windy Nissan for service, where we were told it was the third 2023 Rogue SV with under 70,000 miles to come in that week for the exact same failure. This strongly suggests a recurring issue that may affect a wider number of vehicles. Given the vehicle’s age and mileage, this...

Hi [XXX] , just wanted to let you know that the mount is approved through your warranty but you do have a $100 deductible from them. Tire and mount are here in stock. --Whitney Flanders Nissan of Orange Park When I was told two days ago by the service advisor that this has been a big issue with all Nissan rogue’s the transmission mounts having issues she said herself it’s a recall and now I am having to pay out of pocket ! Also this is the third time I have to have my tires replaced in 5 months of time this last one was brand new tire but dry rotted ! I will be getting a legal advisor involved as well as Better Business Bureau . I have missed work due to this issue where I have sat at the dealership for hours and they don’t carry the tires...

I was sold a 2023 Nissan Rogue last July From *** Nissan of Topsham ME. that had a faulty main seal/head gasket which allowed exhaust, coolant and freon vapors to be blown into the car effectively creating a gas chamber. 31 days after my purchase at service appointment to fix defroster I was told "all the coolant leaked out of the resevoir and we don't know where it went, you should keep an eye on it". I was never told further diagnostics were needed at that time however once I realized what was going on and decided to file a complaint with the Maine attorney general's office, I looked over paperwork from visit that day and mechanics notes stated "coolant may be leaking into engine further diagnostics are needed". Let me explain that I am a courier and drive my car all day every day staring and stopping it as I...

I am reporting a recurring issue related to the oil drain plug design on the 2023 Nissan Rogue. During a routine oil change service, the technician at Midas broke the oil pan drain plug, resulting in the need to replace the entire oil pan. This was not due to technician negligence, but rather a reflection of a poorly designed or overly fragile drain plug and oil pan combination that is prone to damage during standard maintenance. This is the second time this has occurred, and it has become clear that the design lacks durability and fails to withstand the basic functions required during oil changes. Although Midas covered the replacement this time, this is not a sustainable solution, as owners should not be expected to risk hundreds of dollars in damage during a basic service procedure. There are numerous reports online of similar issues affecting other 2023 Nissan Rogue owners....

Traveling on highway in Washington DC, cruise control shut off and powered down car, electrical warning for rear doors not closed, seat belt and airbag warnings. Engine lights came on by the time we got into NY, gas fumes in cabin, and oil was down 2 quarts. Car would not go over 40 at times. Car has been at dealership for over 65 days with work done to turbo, cvt transmission, bearings, leaks in headliner, oil consumption and electrical issues, etc. NCA and BBB claims filed, only given some of the work orders as dealership and NCA refuse to provide anything. Defect Form sent to NCA as well. Independent mechanic also reviewed car after it was initially returned to me for less than a week. Mechanic supplied a write up and pics confirming the transmission and oil leaks as well as leaks in engine and electrical issues were not resolved....

Having issues getting my oil changed....problems with drain plug and oil pan.....still having issues recently, no Nissan or Walmart mechanics won't touch my car. They all would tell me to take it back to dealership

The issue began [xxx]. I drove to Napa, stayed for about 20 minutes. When I started the vehicle again and started driving on the highway it was revving but not going above about 10 mph. Had to pull off the road. I waited a few minutes turned it off and back on and it drove normally and I got back home. It's been doing the same thing intermittently since then but more often and throughout the day or drive. When I come to a stop at a stop sign or light and start driving again it will get stuck in 1st gear and not switch out until I turn the vehicle off and on again. This has happened in traffic several times. The dealership has not been able to diagnose it or fix it since they have not been able to reproduce it. They have kept it overnight three times...

There is an intermittent smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the cabin since purchasing the car. Nissan says there is no issue and offers no fix but I have never owned a car that had this type of smell in the cabin unless there was something wrong. The smell can be so bad as to cause nausea and headaches.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35-40 MPH, the vehicle started lagging and lost motive power as if the vehicle would shut off. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) code was displayed on the instrument panel with an engine malfunction. The failure occurred the following morning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the dealer could not retrieve the CVT code to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer stated that the transmission fluid would be flushed and refilled as a temporary repair until the vehicle could be diagnosed and CVT code had been retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

• "2023 Rogue, 24,000 miles, coolant in engine (2024), new engine delayed six months (Nov 2024), broke down two weeks later (chip), broke again Feb 2025 (ECM, hose hole). Nissan promised buyback three times in mediation but hasn't acted." This is one letter out of two promising they will buy back our vehicle insinuating we refusing to provide any additional paperwork. Why would we? We have been giving them everything to get this buyback. Letter below promising still nothing Good morning, Please provide me with an updated payoff letter and payment history. I have gotten approval to waive the documents I typically need to proceed since you are refusing to provide the correct documentation. I have begun the calculations. Once you provide me the updated payoff and payment history(detailed with principle and interest separated), I will draft your repurchase agreement based off the BBB program summary. Please be advised that...

Component/System Malfunction: I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue and have experienced excessive engine vibrations since the beginning. Despite multiple service visits, the issue persisted, ultimately leading to a complete engine failure at 64,000 miles. Safety Concerns: The vibrations and power reduction warnings compromised safety. My car eventually broke down in Vail, CO, leaving me stranded in freezing weather for four hours while waiting for assistance. Dealer/Service Center Findings: At my first service visit, the dealership diagnosed a transmission mount issue and claimed to have fixed it, but the problem remained. The check engine light appeared twice, along with an “Engine Power Reduced” warning. The dealership found no immediate issues. At 64,000 miles, my car broke down, and the check engine light reappeared. The dealership initially couldn’t find the problem but later performed a compression test and quoted a $10,000 repair estimate. Manufacturer/Inspection History: I reported the issue multiple times before...

I took my car to the Nissan dealer because sometimes when I am stopped with my foot on the brake the engine will start to accelerate trying to overcome the brake. The only thing I can do to stop this is turn off the engine. This has happened 4 times in the last month and not before. The dealer was unable to find anything wrong and could not duplicate this action. I have now been referred to Nissan consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automobile Repair, New Motor Vehicle Board and now your agency, I feel that this vehicle to drive because it could cause damage to me, my car and the the public. The last time this occurred I was stopped coming out of shopping center waiting for the traffic to clear when the car started accelerating which would have pushed me into the oncoming traffic. Hopefully, you'll be able to...

On December 31st, 2024, we came out from the grocery store to our 2023 Rogue which we had been running errands in all day and the car wouldn’t start. We then tried to give it a jump, replaced the battery, and checked fuses. None of these helped so we had it towed to Firestone. The tech there stated he found coolant in the spark plug wells and told us we needed to have it sent to the local Nissan dealer we bought it brand new from. After the Nissan techs inspected the car, we were told it needs a whole new engine. The car has had proper maintenance and oil changes its entire life and only has 61,000 miles and now it needs a new engine due to premature engine failure.

While driving down the highway going approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle lost power in the middle of the highway and shut off completely, with a sudden warning that said “Engine Malfunction.” The vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway and smoke began filling the cabin, leaving me to believe there was a fire under the hood. I evacuated the kids out of my car and pushed it off to the side of the road, then called the fire department. When the vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealership they discovered that there were many large metal chunks in the oil pan and the engine needed to be completely replaced. The vehicle only has 50,000 miles on it and is technically covered under powertrain, however Nissan is trying to get out of covering the replacement of the engine. There have been many documented cases of this exact thing happening to...

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change and was informed that the oil pan drain plug was made of metal; however, the oil pan threads were made of plastic. As a result, oil was leaking from the oil pan due to the threads being stripped. The contact was referred to the dealer who acknowledged the failure and agreed to replace to oil pan under warranty; however, the oil pan was replaced with another oil pan with the same issue. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 19,990.

I'm seeking reimbursement for purchase of new oil pan, $618.99 plus tax. From further investigating, the main issue is Nissan chose to use plastic oil pans in this vehicle. I took my vehicle to Walmart for oil change and company would not complete due to they reporting previous issues with Nissan Rogue oil system. They told me there was a recall. I called Carmax, place of purchase, and was told no recalls. I called Nissan dealership and was told no recalls. I then took my vehicles to Suns Auto and reported what was told to me by Walmart. Suns Auto said soon as they touched the oil plug it exploded off and they were unable to replace. This caused all of the oil to drain out annd therefore making car undriveable. At that point, if I wanted to drive my vehicle, I had to pay for replacing oil pan which...

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon beginning to accelerate from a green light, the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact was able to get off an exit to stop and park the vehicle safely on the side of the road; however, upon attempting to restart the vehicle the vehicle would not restart. The contact stated that the message "Power Failure - Vehicle Stalled - Please See Service". The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

I have only owned this vehicle 7 days and am returning it. After receiving this car and driving to 35 miles I noticed an intense smell of gasoline in the cabin of the vehicle. I at first assumed it could be exhaust from other cars. I stopped and waited a moment began to drive again and the smell permeated the cabin. The smell made me nauseous. I got home and called my local Nissan dealership and read online to check the dip stick for a smell of gasoline. Pulled the oil dip stick and the oil was diluted the viscosity was extremely runny and smelled strongly of gas. After reading of similar issues with this product I explained to the dealership I no longer wanted this vehicle and have sent it back because of this issue. In the week I attempted to drive the car the fumes did not stop...

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while having a routine oil change by an independent mechanic, it was determined that there were metal shavings inside the oil filter. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: PE23023 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Engine). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined there was metal shavings inside the oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 10,187.

There is a problem with a tapping noise from the engine. It normally happens when lightly accelerating. “Nissan Rogue 2023, with 3 Cylinder, 1.5L DOCH 12-valve Super Charged, 201 hp, 225 lb-ft torque, XTRONIC CVT”. It started at about 11,000 miles but has continued and is now about 23,000 miles. I had the car in for a part replacement under warranty November 18, 2024 and asked for a test drive with a technician to observe for noise with me. We both heard the noise and the technician said it could be a couple of things. 1. Something could be loose in the engine linkage. 2. Could have something to do with the Turbocharger linkage or activator. 3. Could be just because it is a 3 Cylinder engine it is just a little more noisy (don’t by that). 4. I asked if it was possibly that the timing was slightly off....

Vehicle was brought in for an oil change and service appointment at the Nissan dealership the day before and was then driven 300 miles. The following day, it was being driven at 40-50mph in residential area when suddenly the gas pedal became unresponsive and the vehicle slowed down on its own in traffic. The message appeared on the screen "Engine Malfunction, Power Reduced, Service Now" and the car would no long go faster than 12 mph. The car had to be turned off and on 4 times before the error cleared and was then able to be driven again.

In September 2024 I too my car to Bedford Nissan in Ohio. They did an oil change and since then my car has been having issues. When reversing and switching into drive my car jerks extremely hard. I contacted them to let them know and they advised me to bring the car in to get it looked at. Due to my life situations, I was unable to do so at that time. In the beginning of October 2024 my car completely shut down. I was unable to shut it off with the push button or change gears. All of the lights on the dashboard came up. It took me almost 20 minutes for it to finally restart. I contacted Nissan immediately and they advised to bring it back to them. My 2023 brand new car already had a dead battery, faulty wires in the car, the screen goes in and...

Major engine problems. The engine has loud knocking noise. While driving the car it shakes badly. When the hood is open you can see the engine jumping and it’s not properly secured. The engine can fall out causing a safety hazard and accident. Vehicle is not safe to drive. When driving the car loses speed immediately going over 55 mph.

Our 2023 Nissan Rogue with only 15,000 miles suffered complete engine failure (engine seized) driving on busy [XXX] passing through Baltimore. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk, and if we hadn't been in the left lane (allowing rapid access to the breakdown lane) we would have been in a multi-car pile-up going at high speeds. Afterward, my safety was at risk waiting for 5h on the busy highway waiting for a tow truck. There was a slightly rough engine sound just 15-30 minutes prior to the engine seizure, but no warning messages. The only message that appeared was "Engine Failure" at the moment the engine seized. The car was towed to the local Firestone Service station where they confirmed engine seizure with normal oil levels. We do not know if the oil had been compromised by infusion of gasoline (as we have now discovered is...

engine "spun a bearing" while driving on highway, car began shaking and was very unresponsive. This is the 1.5l, turbo 3 cylinder engine that appears to have had reported issues before. Would like to have documented in case of future recall or class action lawsuit.

I purchased the car used 3 weeks ago, still under full Nissan Warranty. 10 days ago, while driving, unexpectedly, engine started knocking loudly and then shut down. My granddaughter was driving, and was unable to restart. The Nissan dealer had performed a "health check" of the car a week prior and noted no concerns. And the dealer who sold me the car did the same, before selling it to me. Car was towed to the Nissan dealership. The engine is completely blown and there were metal chips in the oil pan. The Nissan dealership is awaiting authorization from Nissan to replace the engine and any other system impacted. It's going to take weeks to repair.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, there was white smoke entering inside the cabin of the vehicle from the exhaust pipes. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and exited the vehicle safely. In addition, the vehicle would not crank or restart. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,850.

At 8:00 PM, driving 70 MPH on [XXX] from Dallas to Houston, Texas, multiple warning lights and messages illuminated on the dash. Other than a low fuel warning, there were no other warnings or messages at the time of the incident. The warnings and messages displayed were "AWD Error", AEB system OFF, RAB system OFF, slip indicator or VDC OFF, master warning light, and "Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service now." When this occurred, the vehicle began decelerating, and I was unable to accelerate and return to highway speeds. I was driving in the left lane and had to make my way to the shoulder on the right of the highway. Fortunately, I came to a stop approximately two miles from the [XXX] exit for Centerville, Texas. It would have been extremely dangerous to remain on the shoulder, especially after sunset, so after reading the owner's manual, I decided to travel...

While driving severe shuddering and knocking of the engine occurred rendering vehicle undriveable. Car was towed to Nissan dealership resulting in the entire engine and turbocharger needing to be replaced. Technician reported needing excessive force to move the crankshaft, high gasoline scent from oil, and metal/bearing in oil pan.

While I was driving out of state on [XXX], 2024, the engine light came on and stated "engine malfunction power reduced." Immediately the acceleration to the car was out. I was barely able to go 50 or 60 mph on the highway where everyone else was going 70 or 80 mph. Additionally the AWD light came on saying it was disabled as well. We were able to make it to safety, get a rental car, and then take my car to the nearest Nissan dealership in LaCrosse WI. I left my car there and waited to hear back about what was needed to repair the car. After talking to the service manager, Mike, he indicated he would talk to Nissan Corporate and let me know. Nissan Corporate advise the service team to clean the part in the car (the actuator?) and put it back in and that would fix it....

I can smell fuel inside my vehicle after my vehicle idles for 15-20 minutes. No visible leak on the ground, but fumes permeate my vehicle and have caused headaches to begin with my vehicle occupants and myself. I have noticed after driving and I park inside my garage, I can smell fuel as well, but no visible leak anywhere. The smell lasts for a good while after being parked, but eventually goes away. I made an appointment for December 22nd, 2023 to have it looked at, showed up Riverside Auto Mall of Marquette, MI and was turned away because if the vehicle isn't replicating what I am experiencing, they could not do anything about it because they don't know why its happening. I was told by the service manager to contact her if anyone began experiencing headaches. We did experience headaches at a later date this happened, had an appointment...

Owned the car since 1/23. Within a few months car died on the interstate due to a hole in the fuel tank. Nissan repaired. Prior to that I took the car in because it always smells of gas. Especially when the car is running. You could smell inside and outside of cabin. People walking by noticed. Dealership couldn’t figure it out. Googled this myself and there are multiple complaints of the gas smell. On 5/2/24, I wasn’t able to start my car. Had it towed. Took Nissan one week to run diagnostics. On 5/9 they confirmed there was coolant in my oil and cylinders. Covered by warranty. They told me parts would be in this week but they wouldn’t be able to repair the car for another 2 to 3 weeks. Said they were down personnel.

The vehicle had a no-start case. It wouldn't catch while turning over. It tried, it had sufficient battery and all operations were done properly like putting break pedal all the way down. Let car sit, opened the door, shut it and hit some other stuff and it started fine. Other people online seem to report similar cases where just leaving the vehicle makes it start.

Twice while driving my Rogue it has gone into a limp mode. First time car was towed to Ted Russell Nissan and they found no code for problem ,an update was installed. Second time I drove car to same dealership and again no code was found. The have now had my car for 8 days and can’t get car to duplicate problem. I have to take grandchildren to daycare and pick them up. Both times the problem occurred I had just dropped off 1 year old. My safety was impacted because of the amount of traffic in the hours of dropping off and picking them up. The only ones who have checked vehicle is the dealership. There were no warning or any indication it was going to happen. The first date was [XXX] and the second was [XXX]. Car is still in shop. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF...

On March 13, 2023 I purchased a new Crown Nissan Rogue. For the most part, the car has performed well up until this year when I have had issues with the Engine Malfunction light coming on. Specifically, I get the message:” Engine Malfunction. Power reduced, Service now”. The car then goes into a slow decline of power and the speed reduces significantly at which point I will pull over to a safe spot and turn off the engine. Typically, after waiting a few minutes, I am able to start car without the engine coming on and will proceed home. This is the third such incident of this occurring this year (January, February and now March). I brought the vehicle in for service in February and noted this dilemma. The service personnel did address the issue but could not find anything that they could attribute it to. This latest episode occurred...
