NHTSA Complaint #11620515 — 2023 NISSAN ROGUE

Our 2023 Nissan Rogue with only 15,000 miles suffered complete engine failure (engine seized) driving on busy [XXX] passing through Baltimore. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk, and if we hadn't been in the left lane (allowing rapid access to the breakdown lane) we would have been in a multi-car pile-up going at high speeds. Afterward, my safety was at risk waiting for 5h on the busy highway waiting for a tow truck. There was a slightly rough engine sound just 15-30 minutes prior to the engine seizure, but no warning messages. The only message that appeared was "Engine Failure" at the moment the engine seized. The car was towed to the local Firestone Service station where they confirmed engine seizure with normal oil levels. We do not know if the oil had been compromised by infusion of gasoline (as we have now discovered is a problem with the Nissan Rogue engine). The car was subsequently towed to Bob Bell Nissan in Baltimore, and they have yet to inform us of their conclusions after 5 days. Route 9 Nissan in Westborough (where we bought the care) did not inform us that this was a potential problem nor that it is under investigation by the NHTSA.
