On [XXX], on our 2023 Rogue with only 9100 miles on it suffered complete engine failure while driving the highway. The car had been operating for about 10 minutes, and we had just onboarded the freeway entrance and after about a mile at normal highway speeds, with no warning, the engine started making loud knocking sounds and there was a immediate loss of motive power. This occurred during heavy traffic and was a close call with drivers behind the car. If the car had been in the left most or middle lanes of the highway it is likely the car would have not made it off the middle of the highway and it likely could have caused a severe chain reaction accident, and it could have been life threatening as it was during rush hour with heavy rush traffic and lots of large trucks. Since we were still in the...
The 2023 Nissan Rogue we have as a lease with 9,000 miles on it. 10 minutes after driving it and going on the highway with in 1 minutes the engine abruptly started knocking and stuttering and immediate loss of motive power. Fortunately the car was in the left most lane and an exist was able to enter the exit ramp but the vehicle started sputtering and stalled and would not restart. Restart attempts resulted in engine stuttering and it the engine shutting off. We think this is the exact symptoms as described in PE23023 with these Nissan engine failures. Reporting since this should be recalled for safty and because we had a 3 year old child in the card and we fear that this could have caused risk of death by loss of motive power on the highway and if the car was in the fast or middle lanes could...
Purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue in May 2023 with less than 10 miles on it. Shortly after purchase myself and my family noticed the smell of gas fumes in the cabin, which I initially ignored. I took the car back to the dealership in August 2023 at 4,700 miles due to the noxious fumes/smell. The car’s PCV valve was replaced for the first time. I again took the vehicle into the dealership in December 2023 at 12,900 miles due to the extremely strong smell of gas fumes coming into the cabin but also radiating throughout my entire garage. These fumes burn my eyes, throat, make me nauseous, and cause headaches. My heated garage has an open flame heater and I became worried that the potentially uncombusted gas products leaking into the air could cause an explosion or fire. The dealership replaced my PCV hose a second time, but this did...
This has been a big safety issue for my wife and 10 month old daughter. Randomly while driving on highway or in residential roads, our 2023 nissan rogue will start revving hard. The rpm shoots up to around 5000 and the engine starts to lose power resulting in rapid de-acceleration. As of recent, my wife would have to restart the car to go back to normal functioning mode. This also almost caused her accidents on multiple occasions. We contacted Nissan, opened a case, and they refused to repurchase it or replace it. We are stuck with this car hoping nothing bad happens.
I was driving on the interstate with heavy traffic with family in the car. The car engine suddenly lost power and suddenly started making a metal on metal banging noise. The check engine light didn't come on for a few minutes after but it was obvious something was wrong. We were able to get over to the side of the road a few feet out of traffic. We had it towed to the Nissan dealer. We were told it was an issue with the engine block/cylinder #2 failed. This is a 2023 3 cylinder Rogue that has been maintained properly. There was no warning at all. The engine light did not come on until well after the engine failed. We were told an "Nissan Investigator" has to come inspect our car??
Nissan installed plastic oil plugs which when reinstalled can fail. This despite the fact the entire oil pan is aluminum. This can occur after the 2 or 3rd oil change causing the car to lose the plug, overheat due to oil loss or have to be towed because plug falls out or becomes easily stripped. Many place such as Jiffy Lube will refuse to service the cars because they may require a tow to the dealer.
Cabin often smells like gasoline, seems like there is a leak somewhere. Dealer told me there is no fix, and that the vehicle is under "Engineering Review".
Vehicle is emitting a gas smell after it runs. Smells like gasoline.
There is a strong gasoline odor in and around the car after driving
When car is sitting idle I can smell gas inside the car. Took car to dealership and was told there was a whole in a hose and they would replace the hose. Hose has been replaced and fumes still come into car when idle. The cars was bought new with 117 miles on it. It now has 5072 miles on it. I have been contacting them for the last two months as it took about three weeks for the hose to come in. When I discussed with the dealership I could still smell gas I was told they have had this issue with several of these cars but the hose usually fixes the problem. The smell is so bad that it now makes me sick to my stomach. I tell them I here a rattle in the engine that was not there before. They say the rattle is no more...
My New 2023 Nissan Rogue encountered a warning "Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service Now" after the car was driven 4600 miles in July 28th 2023. The car did not accelerate higher than 15 miles/ hr with the warning and it was difficult to change lanes while driving the vehicle to Nissan Service at Jeff Wyler Nissan, Eastgate, Ohio - 45103. The warning light went off after the car was restarted a couple of times and the technicians at Nissan service did not find any issue. The issue again resurfaced in 02 Dec 2023, and the car was not running higher than 15 miles/hr. The warning went off after the car was restarted a couple of times. Jeff Wyler Nissan Service again did not found any issue upon inspection. Reached out to Nissan Motors Customer Service and they did'nt give any solution and asked me to report the issue to the...
My car was purchased in June 2023 and currently has 2,785 miles. I turned my car on and the engine light came on. As I was driving, it was hard to accelerate and my car was not driving properly. I received an email from Nissan Connect stating: Hi [XXX] , Your Rogue's engine may have an emission control system malfunction. If the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is blinking, you may have a misfire or other component malfunction. To reduce or avoid emission control system damage: Do not drive at speeds above 45 MPH (72 km/h). Avoid hard acceleration or deceleration. Avoid steep uphill grades. If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled or towed. I took my car to the Nissan dealer, and they said the engine failed. They don’t know how long it will take to repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5...
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle independently decelerated. The contact stated that there was traffic behind, and the vehicle decelerated to 10 MPH. The contact stated that drivers were honking their horns for her to speed up. The check engine warning light and a message stated, “Do Not Drive” was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed EGR module. The contact was informed that the EGR module needed to be replaced and reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,169.
I SMELL A GAS ODOR INSIDE OF MY CLOSE GARAGE AND INSIDE THE CABIN OF MY VEHICLE. I OBSERVED THIS SMELL TODAY. MY VEHICLE 5400 MILES ON IT.
As I was accelerating to merge onto the toll way from 45 mph to 70 mph, I switched to sports mode and reached almost 74 mph. At that point white smoke started coming from the exhaust and the engine started to severely knock. After a few minutes the check engine, oil and high temperature lights came on, on the dash. The vehicle indicated that I pull over and stopped driving. After towing into the dealership, I was told the engine and turbo system had to be changed. After 2 business days I was informed the engine is on back order and I have been on a loaner for a month as of this report. I escalated the issue to Nissan but I have not got any resolution yet. I drove the vehicle for around 12000 miles for since April this year. Glad it is still under warranty. I asked for...
Vehicle just turned 11,000 miles. As I was accelerating up a hill, the RPM’s were extremely high and then I heard an awful noise in the engine. The car immediately shut down and overheated. It was determined the turbo chip blew apart causing catastrophic damage to the engine. I ended up needing to hire a lemon law attorney and Nissan bought the vehicle back from me. Nissan refused to compensate me for any inconveniences I incurred during the time. I had to pay out of pocket for a tow truck to come get the vehicle off the road because I was stuck on a dangerous corner and the police officers said the car needed to be moved ASAP. I had a trip planned with the vehicle in 2 weeks and ended up having to buy plane tickets instead because the loaner vehicle I had to fight the dealership for said...
I was stop at a light and I turned off the radio is here when I noticed my engine shut off. I had to place the vehicle on park to start the vehicle again, this has happen twice already. I am concerned with this issue.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Emissions Leak" message was displayed, and the contact heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact also stated that the failure occurred immediately after having the A/C module replaced by the dealer. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, who diagnosed a failure with unknown clamps within the engine compartment. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 100.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle in the garage and later returning to the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside the garage. Also, while driving there was a mild odor of fuel present inside the vehicle. The message "Engine Oil, Service Required" was displayed even though the vehicle was recently purchased as a new vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 1,000.
I bought my first brand new 2023 Nissan Rogue SV Oct 29th 2022. I noticed a weird acceleration at times. Nissan said nothing wrong. Then I believe in spring time.. maybe April that I started noticing my garage smell of gas, the inside of car smells like gas. Nissan fixes it and said part is on backorder but they were going to use a temporary fix that may or may not hold up. October 30 2023 I brought it back in to have same issued fixed. Week of Nov 27 2023 my garage smelt the worst it has ever smelt. Like gas was spilled all over. It was that strong. Inside of car smelt of gas. I had a headache all week. My son did for 3 days. Id come out of work and I could smell the gas before I even got to my vehicle that has been sitting...
Purchased brand new in January of 2023, engine problems, engine knocks while driving or idle, hesitates when accelerating. stalling when driving, heavy gas smell, bad plastic oil pan, breaks during oil change, cause oil leaks, and engine failure. Vehicle vibrates when braking, bad lower fuel pump.
Severe Oil dilution with gasoline and heavy gas smell.
At about 17900 miles on my 2023 Rogue I got a engine malfunction warning the vehicle speed was reduced to 10pm on the freeway. Luckily I was able to pull over immediately. I had it towed to the Nissan dealer. They informed me it was a foot pedal issue and said the car was fixed. I drove it home fine however the following day the vehicle engine started to smoke and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and it needs a new engine and turbo. They are trying not to assume responsibility saying lack of maintenance. I had the full service done literally 3 weeks before the incident. There seems to be several people dealing with the same issue.
There is a strong smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the vehicle when it's running. The smell is absolutely nauseating. I've been told that at this point Nissan is aware of the issue and there is no fix as of yet. Now I'm stuck driving a brand new car that is making me and my family ill.
Cabin smells strongly of gasoline. Gives us major headaches and sick feeling when inside car. Dealer has car now, says smell is strong and oil dipstick smells of gasoline. No warning of problem. Car is new, under 3000 miles.
Random and recurring Warning light error ‘Engine Malfunction Reduced Power Service Now’ corresponding with reduced acceleration while actively driving. It has been attributed to a Turbo engine malfunction
On July 21,2023 while driving at highway speeds the engine started to sputter. Multiple engine failure lights came on. The engine died and I had 1-2 seconds to get the vehicle out of the highway onto the shoulder. I was told the by the dealer that part of the fuel injector may have come loose and damaged the cylinder. The vehicle had only 562 miles on it. I do not have any paperwork on it because almost 2 months later the car is still at the dealer. Today I was informed the new engine they installed also failed because of a bad cylinder.
While driving down the highway the engine started to shake violently. Barely got the vehicle pulled over before the engine locked up tight. Had we not been in the right line and close to the soft shoulder, the vehicle could have locked up and stopped in the middle of the highway with cars doing 70mph behind us. Vehicle was towed to dealer and main bearing/rod bearing material was found in the oil and oil filter. In the time the vehicle has been in the dealer waiting for a new engine to come off back order, 2 more of the same year make, model and engine configuration has come into the dealer with the same problem. This is information obtain from the dealer. Nissan is not telling the dealer the cause of the problem.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while starting and driving the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the "Power Reduced", "Malfunction", and "Service Now", messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where a diagnostic test was performed but the cause of the failure could not be determined. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred while entering traffic. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 951.
After driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue for approximately 1.5 months (1700 miles) I started smelling a gas odor inside the cabin while driving and while parked. The smell is causing my eyes and throat to burn and occasional nausea. While parked in my garage the smell becomes so overwhelming that I must remove the vehicle from the garage to "air out" for a few hours. Since I have an attached garage the smell is also permeating the house. My husband checked the oil dipstick and found it to have a very strong gasoline odor. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer. I was told the smell is normal since this is a new turbo engine, it should be expected. I have contacted Nissan corporate regarding a fix or buyback and was told that I do not qualify. I have concerns regarding my health due to long term exposure to...
On May 10, 2023 my 2023 Nissan Rogue with 16,633 miles on it suffered an engine malfunction and completely stalled unexpectedly on an off-ramp of State Route 28. There were no warning lights or indicators that flashed. My car would not restart. If this would have happened minutes if not seconds sooner while I was on the highway, no vehicle behind me would have been able to stop and someone would have been seriously injured. It was later determined the engine completely seized due to metal shavings being that were found in it. The engine was replaced under warranty at a dealership but given the newness of my car and the fact that I drive more miles to work and back than most people, I worry that this could happen to other 2023 Nissan Rogues that have not been driven that much. A cause was never relayed to me as...
When driving in stop and go traffic, the cabin of my Nissan Rogue gets a strong smell of fuel. After driving it, I park in my garage and the entire garage smells like gasoline as well. There is no other source for this smell in my garage. I have taken it to the dealership looking for a gasoline leak and they said it is not leaking, yet I smell gasoline while driving as well as when it is parked inside the garage and outside in parking lots.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the message "Engine Failure, No Power, Service Immediately" was displayed and the vehicle stalled. Moments later, the vehicle restarted, and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the forward distance sensor had failed which caused the vehicle to stall and the sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,200. The consumer stated the dealer will not inform her if the part is available.
Friday, March 24, 2023 AM: Returned to parked Rogue after an 1.25 hr appt and found the cabin reeking of a fuel smell. No fuel leaks under vehicle to explain smell. Smell dissipated some after driving for 10 mins at low speeds with outside air circulation on. Smell fully left cabin while driving at highway speeds for 15 mins with outside air circulation on. Sunday, March 26, 2023 AM: Returned to parked Rogue after 2 hr Church to find cabin filled with a fuel smell. Again, no leaks noted under vehicle. Drive home decreased the smell at highway speeds with outside air circulation on, but this was after the entire family had already become ill from the smell while driving through town at lower speeds. Stopped at parent's house briefly and left engine running; husband had to turn engine off and roll windows down, as the fuel smell entering the...
While attempting to accelerate up a hill the vehicle's engine rapidly increased RPM to 3500 and then down to 2000 and back up to 3500 repeatedly with no increase in speed or change of pressure on the gas pedal. Also, from a stopped position at a red light, the vehicle would shudder/shake when the tachometer reported between 1500 and 2000 RPM, while attempting to accelerate. Finally when shifting from reverse to drive, the vehicle would shake/shudder while the RPM would increase to 4000 all while the car did not accelerate at all, and with no increase in pressure on the gas pedal.
My 4.5 month old Rogue, with a little over 3000 miles on it, stopped dead from at 55 mph on a highway at night. The battery started but the engine would not engage or start. At the start of the drive the fuel gauge registered about 1/2 tank, but after driving only a relatively short distance, it suddenly went to just above the 'red warning zone' and showed about 157 driving miles left in the tank. I believe that the tank was actually empty and the gauge was faulty, because on a hunch the tow guy added some gas and the car started! I was in danger because I was stranded in the left lane of a highway at night and even with my hazard lights on, cars were barely missing me. One could easily have rammed into me - especially waiting over 2 hours for a tow with my...
Within a week of driving the vehicle, I began to notice a strong gasoline smell when I parked the car. The issue became even more evident when I parked the car in my garage, as the garage would quickly fill with the unmistakable odor of gasoline. The smell is so persistent that it remains in the garage even the following morning. Due to concerns about the accumulation of gas fumes and the potential risk of ignition, I have resorted to parking the car outside. However, the issue extends beyond just parking; when I am stuck in traffic or idling, the gas fumes infiltrate the cabin of the vehicle, producing a strong and overpowering odor. The intensity of the fumes is such that it induces feelings of nausea, and I am deeply concerned about the health and safety implications for both me and my family. Despite being aware of the severity...
The smell of gas fumes was inside and outside of the car. I took a CO2 blood test and the CO2 levels came back high. The dealership said a recall was coming out soon. The vehicle supposedly was looked over by the dealership service manager. This began shortly after I bought the vehicle. Didn’t know it was an issue until I saw a lawsuit against the company regarding this matter.
After driving the inside cabin smells like fuel along motor area and around front of car. No noticeable leaks. Dealer said no noticeable leaks, called Nissan Tech line, tech line had them check a few specific areas believe some pressurized fuel lines. Service manager said it is a known issue with no current fix although Nissan engineers are working on it. Both service manager and service advisor recommended calling Nissan of North America. Issue started Feb 2023. Motor air filter smells like gas along with the oil in the motor when smelled from dipstick.
Strong smell of gasoline in our garage, coming from the 2023 Nissan Rogue everytime we park the car. Fumes/vapors fill the garage, and then into the house.
After driving the car and parking it in the garage we notice a "raw gasoline" smell. If we are driving and idle at a stop sign the heater (heating the interior) picks up the gasoline smell and the fumes come inside the car. We have to open the windows to air it out once moving. The problem appears to be getting worse, meaning the smell is getting stronger. We have contacted Nissan and they gave me a case number #48234302, but no progress. The dealer says Nissan is working on the issue, but there is no fix. I have call both Nissan and the dealer since 1-18-2023, but for the most part no one will respond anymore. We find the smell a health concern.
SMELLS strongly of GAS. Location of smell is strongest on driver side closest to windshield under the hood. Vehicle is currently with 2280 miles. Purchased in December of 2022. Smell began mid January 2023 with mileage approximately at 1700.
After 3000 miles on my car I noticed a gasoline smell in my garage after driving it. Now I have 5000 miles and the gasoline smell is so strong I have to park it outside my garage since my garage is attached to my house and the smell enters my house and makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache. I have made an appointment with 2 Nissan dealers who state it is a known problem but there is nothing they can do about it at this time and are waiting to hear from Nissan. There are no warning lights on in my car.
Strong smell of raw gasoline coming from the front of the vehicle after driving and while driving. If parked in garage entire garage has strong odor that penetrates into attached house. Very hazardous to health and emissions.
On November 12, 2022, I purchased a brand new Nissan Rogue 2023. Within a few weeks of driving this brand new car, the check engine light came on. A few days after the check engine light appeared, the car almost shut down while I was making a left turn at a light. I called the Nissan dealership where I purchased the car and they told me to bring the car in for inspection. While driving on the interstate highway to get to the dealership, the check engine light changed to "Engine malfunction." Immediately, the car stopped functioning. The gas pedal became flat, and I could not get the car to accelerate no matter how hard I tried. The vehicle essentially stopped in the middle of the highway with me and my two children in it. This incident posed a significant risk to me and my children, as well as to...
Known issue, fuel smell inside cabin after initial start up and after parking in garage. Fuel/exhaust smells are persistent while initially driving off as well, significant safety risk as we are not certain where this is emanating (or originating) from. This is a health hazard and could potentially lead to engine fire, etc.
There is a constant strong fuel odor coming from the car, especially when it is parked inside the garage. It is most noticeable under the front hood as well as inside the cabin. The car has been inspected by the Nissan dealer and they have not found any leaks. They did confirm that this is a known concern, which is under engineering review and the dealership is working with a specialist to address this. They have also informed us the smell is caused by colder temperatures as more fuel needs to be injected than normal and thus causing the strong odor. However, the smell is constant even in worm temperatures. Also, a Nissan engineer has confirmed that this is caused by a design flaw, which only appears on cars with a turbo.
The Engine Malfunction power Reduced just pop up, and even i push the accelerator pedal to the floor, it almost dont run, I almost stuck in the center of the Traffic Crossing.
After about two months of driving our 2023 Nissan Rogue SV, a fuel odor emerged from the car. The odor is detected constantly in the car's interior and exterior. The fuel odor is so intense that we are concerned about the safety of parking the vehicle in our garage; we must park it outside. Due to the intensity of the fuel odor, we have purchased a fire extinguisher, as we are afraid of a car fire in the event of an accident/collision. Additionally, we are very concerned about our exposure to the gas fumes, and the health risk it may be causing. The dealership we bought the vehicle from evaluated the car, and informed us that the issue was that gas was sprayed accidentally on the hood liner during production. The dealership replaced the hood liner; however, upon returning the vehicle home the same day, the fuel odor persisted with...
