2023 NISSAN ROGUE Fuelpropulsion System Problems

Was driving this morning 2/5/2026 to work when I noticed a very strong gas smell in my cabin. The smell make me light headed and nauseous after a few minutes of driving and I am concerned for my safety.

Jc Billon supposedly fixed the gas line recall but unfortunately my car still smells like gas from time to time and I have reached out numerous times with no call backs and they still have not reached out about the engine recall

While driving 40-50 mph, my vehicle abruptly dropped to a speed of below 20 mph without warning, scaring me to the point of nearly driving off the side of the road, almost getting rear-ended, and catapulting me forcefully toward my windshield. Simultaneously, this warning light and exact message appeared with a very loud alarm/chime - ⚠️ Warning Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service Engine Now The initial occurrence happened on 07/03/2024 with my vehicle having only 10,208 miles. The same issue has occurred several times since. My vehicle has been inspected by the dealership/manufacturer where they have been unable to reproduce or replicate the problem. My rogue is smelling like gas almost all the time and I am only getting 225-250 miles a full tank.

Dear Sir or Madam, I purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue for $24,510.00 from a New Jersey Nissan dealership. Only 45 days after the purchase, Nissan issued two separate safety recalls involving a risk of crash. Nissan failed to provide the necessary parts for months and did not remedy the safety defects within a reasonable time, as required under the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. Chapter 301). I repeatedly contacted Nissan asking for: 1.a buyback at fair market value, and 2.a rental/loaner vehicle until the recall repairs were completed. Nissan refused both requests, which violates the New Jersey Lemon Law, the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, and the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. Because the vehicle was unsafe to drive and Nissan offered no solution, I was forced to sell it for $16,600.00. My financial loss is $7,910.00. I was driving home at night when my car broke down on the highway. I had to leave the car there and take an Uber home. The next day, I had the car towed to the nearest Nissan Service Center to have it check/repair. They did the diagnostic and they didn't know what's going on with the car, a few days later they told me that the Engine was damaged and needed to be replaced but they were waiting for Nissan to approve it. It took 2 and a half weeks to get the car repair. After the repair, I still have the engine lights come up and the car jerks when accelerating; I reported these issues to Customer Affairs and they didn't do anything about it; they also told me that there is another recall pending and will be taken care of in January. Engine Malfunction Power Reduce Service Now Wed Aug 20. My 2023 Rogue was at the dealership debating that thye can fix the recall because there is no remedy for the inspection for the recall. My truck stayed at the shop until October.This passed Friday October 31 while driving and picking up donations I began to get on the freeway and the same message happened. I couldn't go over 25mph the dealership was 28 minutes away. My safety was a risk it was the on ramp of the freeway and it was all Freeway to get to the dealership. There is an odd engine 'rattling', 'guzzling', 'slurping', type noise coming from the engine and the engine has begun to idle very rough even after fresh oil change. This is directly the issue cited from Nissan as recall with no current solution - which is unacceptable. We are not interested in waiting until the car malfunctions worse and in a dangerous way in order to get this recall addressed.

So my engine failed at 70K. Nissan replaced it with a remanufactured engine the is failing faster than the original engine. Currently at 112K, I have replaced the catalytic converter, muffler, Egr sensor twice, mass airflow sensor and oil changes at 3K just to have the vehicle in the shop for 6-7 months in 2025 alone. Do not buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue with the 1.5L. The reman engine is under a safety recall for bearing degradation, but the dealership won't even look at it unless I pay upfront for a full diag fee of 4500 dollars for a wiring harness that is a secondary condition. Apparently the remedy won't be out until late in Q4 of 2025. No rental or loaner assistance was offered at all. When I first purchased the vehicle I started to smell gasoline inside the vehicle and then it became worse and now I smell it outside and inside the vehicle my garage smells of gasoline. The engine on echo mode gets 35mpg which I was told it should be less than that. The engine loses power, it makes noises, is very rough felling when driving, it seems that the vehicle is getting worse by the day. The gasoline smell is so bad I have to get out of the vehicle because it starts burning my eyes and then I get chest pain/burning.

Vehicle start/stop feature causes the vehicle to “jump” forward and shutter upon engine engagement. Transmission replaced and a rattling occurring.

My 2023 Nissan Rogue is currently at the Avondale Nissan Dealership in Avondale, AZ. I have been taking it between service appointments and the check engine and recall for the pass 4 Months then a week ago it stop while driving to my mailbox and acted like it was in an accident. Each time I have taken to the dealership they stated it unfortunate would have to wait until something worse happen because they couldn’t see it in the codes. Now that what was described has happened the dealership is stating I have to pay 3500 to determine if it is the engine. Before they can determine if it’s part of the recall after 4 months of me asking for the help and describing how the car was running.

I HAVE THE SMELL OF RAW FUEL COMING ENGINE AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF . THE IS VERY NOTICEABLE INSIDE CABIN AREA, AND OUTSIDE OF CAR IF IT IS IN GARAGE. I had my vehicle repaired in March 2025 due to significant gas fumes in the cabin while driving. I had it repaired three months after purchasing it. I am now have concerns about the gas fumes in the cabin while the air conditioning is on to the extent that it caused me to physically get sick. each and every time my windows are completely closed and I have the air conditioning on. It can smell significant amount of gas fumes in the vehicle. If I’m at a drive up window, I open my window. It increases the smell while idling

2023 Nissan Rogue constantly smells of gas fumes on the interior. I have had my vehicle in numerous times over the last few months because the fumes are making me lightheaded to the point that I need to pull over and I constantly have headaches. I have a complaint filed with Nissan and their "fix" is to compensate me for my inconvenience with no genuine concern over the fact that this is causing health issues. They released a new supposed fix which is a replacement of another hose. I'm concerned about my health but also the safety of myself and others while I'm driving due to feeling so lightheaded.

There is an intermittent smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the cabin since purchasing the car. Nissan says there is no issue and offers no fix but I have never owned a car that had this type of smell in the cabin unless there was something wrong. The smell can be so bad as to cause nausea and headaches.

Very strong fuel smell comes from the engine compartment after driving. When I am in stop start driving it enters through the vent and the smell is strong in the cabin. Had it to the dealer two times. They attempted a fix which did not work the first time. I brought it in again today and they stated this is a known problem and that it is under engineering review and there is no fix for it currently.

while driving on the expressway, the car started to slow down, a AWD error came on dashboard, driver proceeded to emergency lane, car came to complete stop and would not restart. had car towed to nissan auto service department. I have only owned this vehicle 7 days and am returning it. After receiving this car and driving to 35 miles I noticed an intense smell of gasoline in the cabin of the vehicle. I at first assumed it could be exhaust from other cars. I stopped and waited a moment began to drive again and the smell permeated the cabin. The smell made me nauseous. There is a problem with a tapping noise from the engine. It normally happens when lightly accelerating. “Nissan Rogue 2023, with 3 Cylinder, 1.5L DOCH 12-valve Super Charged, 201 hp, 225 lb-ft torque, XTRONIC CVT”. It started at about 11,000 miles but has continued and is now about 23,000 miles. I had the car in for a part replacement under warranty November 18, 2024 and asked for a test drive with a technician to observe for noise with me. We both heard the noise and the technician said it could be a couple of things. 1. Something could be loose in the engine linkage. 2. Could have something to do with the Turbocharger linkage or activator. 3. Could be just because it is a 3 Cylinder engine it is just a little more noisy (don’t by that). 4. Owned the car since 1/23. Within a few months car died on the interstate due to a hole in the fuel tank. Nissan repaired. Prior to that I took the car in because it always smells of gas. Especially when the car is running. You could smell inside and outside of cabin. People walking by noticed. Dealership couldn’t figure it out. Googled this myself and there are multiple complaints of the gas smell. On 5/2/24, I wasn’t able to start my car. Had it towed. Took Nissan one week to run diagnostics. On 5/9 they confirmed there was coolant in my oil and cylinders. Covered by warranty. They told me parts would be in this week but they wouldn’t be able to repair the car for another 2 to 3 weeks. My vehicle cabin smells like gas after driving for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. I took it back to the dealership in January 10, 2024 where they changed hose assembly blow by PVC hose. This did not resolve the issue. The fuel smell is very strong inside the cab as will as standing outside the vehicle

I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue SV, I have a consistant odor problem, I have talk to corporate, and my dealer and neither will take responsiblity for the problem. The odor of gasoline smell is both outside and inside of the vehicle. I am going tomorrow (again) to the dealer to get some computer update and will again ask why they cannot fix this problem.

My car has a horrible gas oder, at first only noticed it in the garage but the more I drive it the more I can smell it. Cannot put windows down while driving or you just smell gas. If you run lots of errands in a day you can start to smell it as you approach your car in the parking lot. I have had it in to nissan twice and all they do is replace a hose. Bought a new 2023 Nissan Rogue last week with 8 miles on it. Drove the vehicle on a 12 hour trip. Filled up the gas tank and gasoline smells were terrible inside the vehicle. Went on the internet to research this and found there are many who have this problem and Nissan is doing NOTHING to fix it. To make matters worse, it appears that John Deery Motors, Cedar Falls, Iowa just committed "Consumer Fraud"..........they knew that this problem existed and they continue to sell the vehicles WITHOUT telling the consumer.

RAW Fuel smell at random times in car, sickness causing fuel smells where vehicle garaged.

The car often emits a strong gasoline odor. When I enter my garage, and the doors are closed, I often smell a strong odor of gas coming from the car. On occasion I have turned on the fan for the heater and I get the odor of gasoline inside the cabin of the car. There have been no visible leaks that I can see but I am very concerned about breathing these fumes and about the risk of a fire. This issue has been going on for at least two months. I called the dealer and they advised they are aware of an issue but stated there are no recalls and nothing they can do at this time.

There is a strong gasoline odor in and around the car after driving

When the heat is turned on there’s a strong gas/smoke odor that fills the cabin and it’s very irritating. It irritates my throat and eyes and also I feel light headed if I drive for a long period of time. I have a 9 month old baby that I take to the daycare and this is very concerning to me. I have heard this problem is common among 2021 and newer Nissan rogues.

When car is sitting idle I can smell gas inside the car. Took car to dealership and was told there was a whole in a hose and they would replace the hose. Hose has been replaced and fumes still come into car when idle. The cars was bought new with 117 miles on it. It now has 5072 miles on it. Check light comes on. Vehicle unexpectedly looses engine power while driving. Very dangerous situation as you don’t have time to pull over. Vehicle restarts then it happens again. Nissan dealership has no fix for the problem and gave us the car back. The vehicle has been to the dealership twice already. This is urgent and very dangerous.

When driving it has a fuel odor in the cab of the vehicle. Also when the vehicle is in the garage (inclosed space) the entire garage smells of fuel. I have had this to the Nissan Dealership and they claim they can't recreate the issue.

Purchased brand new in January of 2023, engine problems, engine knocks while driving or idle, hesitates when accelerating. stalling when driving, heavy gas smell, bad plastic oil pan, breaks during oil change, cause oil leaks, and engine failure. Vehicle vibrates when braking, bad lower fuel pump.

While on the road the check engine light came on. Immediately took said vehicle to the dealership to discover at under 6k miles and only 1 year old, the fuel pump had already gone bad. It was brought to my attention by an associate of said dealership that this has become a common occurrence, and they were surprised that a recall had not been issued.

No component had failed. I feel me and my childrens safety is at risk because when I start my car each time I smell fuel. Most of the time it will eventually dissipate, but sometimes it takes a while. The issue has not been figured out. The vehicle has been inspected. My vehicle isn’t showing any warning signs.
