2023 NISSAN ROGUE Engine Problems

I hust bought a 2023 Nissan Roghe SV, Took it home next day Tried to start the vehicle but the dashboard display system was malfunctionig, tried to shft to reverse or drive and the vehicle wouldn't go foward or backwards.... It flashed all the icons on the dash board. In addition to this incedent the vehicle is making rattleing noices, knocking noices in the engine, it seems noices come specifically from around the timing change, the rattle is noticeable when accelerating and decelerating aorung 2000 rpms, when going up a hill the rattle is more louder.

While driving, the engine started making a loud rattling noise, as if there were loose parts inside. The noise increases when accelerating, and the vehicle has noticeably lost power, especially during gear shifts. It feels like the transmission is struggling or the engine isn’t delivering enough power. This issue raised safety concerns because the vehicle doesn’t respond properly when accelerating or merging into traffic.

The grommet that goes into the plastic oil pan failed and came out with the oil plug.

So my engine failed at 70K. Nissan replaced it with a remanufactured engine the is failing faster than the original engine. Currently at 112K, I have replaced the catalytic converter, muffler, Egr sensor twice, mass airflow sensor and oil changes at 3K just to have the vehicle in the shop for 6-7 months in 2025 alone. Do not buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue with the 1.5L. The reman engine is under a safety recall for bearing degradation, but the dealership won't even look at it unless I pay upfront for a full diag fee of 4500 dollars for a wiring harness that is a secondary condition. Apparently the remedy won't be out until late in Q4 of 2025. No rental or loaner assistance was offered at all. My mechanic has discovered metal shavings on my engine oil dipstick. This is a serious condition caused by defective engine bearings. This defects can cause engines to seize which can cause crashes, and injury/death. Nissan is aware of this manufacturing defect and has not provided me with a recall notice or a remedy.

the vehicle still hesitating, it has very poor acceleration, the car drinks, some more gas than usual, and the car also burns oil. Also, the transmission light comes on more than usual.

No incident yet but filing a complaint because the recall process is taking too long. I called the Nissan phone number on the recall site and the automated system stated letters will be sent out the end of December. My dealer offers a loaner car for repairs up to 36,000 miles and I will be beyond that by the end of December. Nissan is very ambiguous as to coverage for a rental car during the repair. My dealer has been very slow with repairs in the past and an engine replacement could take weeks. They had the vehicle 1 week just to replace a seat cushion. They had it 4 weeks to replace the PVC hose.

I bought a 2023 Nissan Rogue from a dealership. 3 hours after leaving the dealership, I was driving down the highway @ 65MPH & the vehicle started a knocking sound, and before I could pull over to the side of the road, the dash lights started illuminating, and the vehicle stalled, the exhaust was smoking and so was the motor. We had to tow the vehicle to the dealership, and now I am concerned to drive it after it gets fixed. If I wouldn’t have acted extremely fast, this could have hurt me or someone else. Oil pan plug damage when changing oil

The engine was replaced in this vehicle.Because it shut off while I was driving lost power and everything they replaced the engine.And then just for it to do it again, and a lady who was behind me had to kind of run herself off the road to avoid.Hitting me because she would have pushed me into another car.Hitting meSo she ran her car door but she didn't damage her car.

I started my vehicle, everything seemed fine, but once I reached my destination, the vehicles auto start/off activated which was normal. I was in a school line to pick up my child, once picked up my child and the auto start reactivated, that's when the problems be can. Once I exceeded 40 mph the car began to jerk violently, and as I tried to move over to the side of the road I couldn't fast enough the speed of the vehicle was locked at 5mph with the check engine light coming on and the "auto-start/off" indicator flashing, the violent jerking seemed to al so effect the vehicles air conditioning.

When I first purchased the vehicle I started to smell gasoline inside the vehicle and then it became worse and now I smell it outside and inside the vehicle my garage smells of gasoline. The engine on echo mode gets 35mpg which I was told it should be less than that. The engine loses power, it makes noises, is very rough felling when driving, it seems that the vehicle is getting worse by the day. All of the dashboard light turned on while deiving amd the engine started overheating, we had to stop the car for it too cool and then it cannot run faster than 30 miles because it will over heat and shakes we could of had a bad accident , we have tried to resolve this with tge dealership and they have failed multiple times to adress this saying its nothing wrong with the car when cleary there is!

My car just randomly started having issues. It will start one day then take forever to start the next day. I’ve experienced bad odor to the vehicle and also the vehicle jumps into gears instead of smoothly shifting into gear. There is a safety recall on my engine which can result in engine failure. There is no remedy for this major safety issue but my vehicle is my only means of transportation. Nissan issued the recall on my vehicle. I took it into the dealership to be inspected. Was informed my car was one that needed to be fixed because of metal fragments on the dipstick in the oil. Was told Nissan had no remedy for the situation yet and had no idea when it would be available to be fixed. So I am expected to continue to drive a car that could stop working while driving and potentially cause a crash. It is absolutely unacceptable for them not to have a remedy for the situation or even know when they will.

While driving, I suddenly saw the message "WARNING! MALFUNCTION. Refer to owner’s manual" display on my dashboard, which caused a loss of power and made it difficult to accelerate. When changing the engine oil, the oil pan drain plug and and the oil pan drain plug sleeve detached from the polymer oil pan assembly rendering the polymer oil pan unusable and the car undrivable. The polymer oil pan had to be replaced.

Since last November 2024 I have been trying to see what is wrong with my car. Previously I took it to Nissan for a thoroughly check just for them to tell me I went over my miles and they wasn’t able to fix my car with my warranty. I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue 4D 4Wd SI. The air conditioner went out. Took it to the shop and was told the coolant was low. No vehicle warning indicated. Made appointment with Nissan was advised the water pump malfunctioned. Internet inquiries resulted in multiple owners of this vehicle reporting catastrophic engine failures as a result of water pump failure. Some failures occurred suddenly with no warning lights from the vehicle. I contacted Nissan was advised no TSB’s at this time no recalls on this vehicle. Further advised they would inquire if the service tech will perform checks on the engine oil for metal debris and if they are checking the head gaskets for failure and warped heads. Very concerned this vehicle will fail and we will suffer a financial hardship. Nissan is aware of the issues reportedly involving 443,000 vehicles.

In April of this year my 2023 Nissan Rogue complete shut down while on the highway. Received a warning notification “Engine Malfunction Power Reduced Service Now”. The car would not drive over 10 miles per hour. The dealer claimed it was our error; stating we had hit a curb so not under warranty. We had not. We were charged approx $200 to fix. Now today, July, we have received the same warning and again it shut down. Had to have it towed to the dealer. They are saying it’s probably a sensor like last time. I asked about the current engine recall and was told they don’t have a fix and this would not cause these issues. These issues are a serious safety issue to just stop the car on the highway while diving!
