AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS IT WILL HESITATE AND STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT TELLS YOU TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN YOU HAVE TO RE CRANK IT TO SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE. AFTER THE TANK IS ABOUT 3/4 FULL IT STOPS STALLING.
ENGINE OIL COOLER DRIPPING OIL ONTO EXHAUST CREATING (POSSIBLE) FIRE HAZARD. THE LOCAL DEALER HAD THIS PART IN STOCK. I KNOW OTHER OWNERS OF 2014 CHEROKEES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM.
EVERY TIME GAS IS ADDED TO THE TANK THE JEEP STALLS OUT AT STOP LIGHTS. A MESSAGE APPEARS ABOUT PUTTING IT IN PARK AND THEN PICKING A GEAR. IT IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AGAIN. THE HAPPENED ON A BUSY ROAD AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION AND AT EVERY STOP SIGN AND EVEN WHILE SLOWING TO MAKE A TURN.*DT *LN CONSUMER STATED MANUFACTURE HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE SUDDEN STALL ISSUE AT LEAST 2 YEARS BUT DID NOT NOTIFY THE OWNER AND RECALLED NUMEROUS TIMES.*JB *LN*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED. WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH, VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING AND LOST MOTIVE POWER. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE AT A LIGHT THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JAKE SWEENEY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT (85 W KEMPER RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45246, 513) 782-1000) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. *BF*JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY ROUGH. WHETHER ON THE INTERSTATE OR JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN. IT ALSO IDLES VERY HIGH, AND USES A LOT OF EXCESS GAS. ALSO, WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON THERE ARE TIMES THAT NOTHING WILL APPEAR ON THE LCD SCREEN, SO I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL ANYTHING IN THE CAR AS FAR AS ELECTRONICS, CLIMATE, RADIO, PHONE ETC. EVEN TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON DOES NOT WORK. EVENTUALLY IT JUST TURNS BACK ON, WHILE DRIVING. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE A MESSAGE WILL COME ACROSS THE SCREEN STATING THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PHONE IN THE CAR AND TO CONTACT THE DEALER.
NOTICED OIL DRIPPING SO TOOK JEEP (2014 JEEP CHEROKEE) IN TO LOOK TO SEE IF OIL FILTER WAS PUT ON CORRECTLY. MECHANIC SAID OIL EVERYWHERE, SHOWED ME POOL OF OIL SITTING UNDER FILTER ALL OVER ENGINE PARTS. HE DE-GREASED ENGINE AND FOUND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAD I NOT NOTICED, ENGINE COULD HAVE HEATED UP AND CAUSED ENGINE FIRE! ONE JEEP BLOGS, MANY EPLE INDICATE SAME ISSUE WITH POOR PART. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HOUSING CRACKING EVEN ON 5 YEAR OLD CAR THAT WAS $35K.
CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. LEAVING ME STUCK IN MIDDLE OF ROAD AND WILL NOT TURN ON FOR PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME.
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY BOGS DOWN AND SOMETIMES STALLS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. SOMETIMES THIS WILL OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW AND SOMETIMES IT WILL GO DAYS, EVEN WEEKS WITHOUT REOCCURRING. THE JEEP DEALER KEPT CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS SAID SEVERAL TEST DRIVES FOUND NO PROBLEM AND THE DIAGNOSTICS AND ONBOARD COMPUTER CODES WERE NORMAL. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VARY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IF TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE OR TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE. THE PROBLEM IS REPORTED ALL THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET BUT NOTHING IN RECALLS. ALL RECALLS ON THIS VIN HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MPH MY CAR STARTED BEEPING AND SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION. RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE SPEED AT ZERO. ONCE IS GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE IT WAS AS IF MY CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME SPEED UP OR ANYTHING NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED ON THE GAS. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND MY SPEED KEPT DECREASING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT 3 TIMES TRYING TO GET OVER TO RESTART MY CAR. ONCE I FINALLY GOT OVER I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE AND I'M TERRIFIED I'M GOING TO BE IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT.

MY JEEP SPUTTERS AND DIES AFTER GAS FILL UP. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM AND HAS SCARED MY FAMILY AS TRUCKS BARE DOWN ON US AS WE ARE STALLED IN THE ROAD UNABLE TO GET CAR TO RESTART. ABOUT 1 TO 3 MILES AFTER FILL UP THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS UNTIL NEXT GAS FILL. PLEASE ISSUE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. IN MOTION CAR IS SPUTTERING AND UNABLE TO GAIN SPEED. ONCE AT A STOP CAR IMMEDIATELY DIES LOCKING ALL POWER FUNCTIONS AND IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.

I PURCHASED MY CAR ON 10/1/19 WITH 98,000 MILES. A FEW SHORT DAYS LATER MY CAR STARTED DRIVING HORRIBLE. SHAKING,BUCKING, JERKING, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE AND SHIFT AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, SCANNED IT AND WAS SHOWING P0520 OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THAT WAS REPLACED. CAR WAS STILL DRIVING THE SAME AND 3 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC WHERE HE HAD IT 3 WEEK. MY OIL PUMP WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW OEM PUMP. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, THROWING THE SAME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE MY CAR WAS LOW 2 QUARTS OF OIL. WAS TOLD TO BRING IT TO JEEP FOR RECALL AND DIAGNOSIS. JEEP HAS MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS, COMPLETED THE RECALL BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE MY CAR. UPON...
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, JEEP WILL UNEXPECTEDLY LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES. ACCELERATING AND PUMPING GAS TO KEEP IT RUNNING WILL SPEED THE PROCESS OF RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION. GAS IS NEVER OVERFILLED. ONCE PUMP SHUTS OFF NO ADDITIONAL FUEL IS ADDED AT PUMP. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED OVER 900 TO REPLACE THE ECM. PROBLEM REPEATED ON NEXT FILL UP. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET EVEN THOUGH DEALERSHIP DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM
WHILE DRIVING ON 2 OCCASIONS THIS WEEK MY CAR STALLED OUT OF THE BLUE AND I LOST POWER. ADDITIONALLY MY CAR ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL ON IT OWNS WHILE DRIVING. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEMS I FOUND THAT SOME 2014 JEEP CHEROKEES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT MY CAR WAS NOT IN THE RECALL.
WHEN WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE JEEP JERKED INTO GEAR. WE STARTED TO HEAR A CLANKING NOISE AND SOUNDED LIKE A PART WAS RATTLING. SINCE IT DID NOT SOUND GOOD WE PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NEAREST TO US. AFTER THE INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THE PTU ON OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WAS BUSTED AND THE CAR IS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT WE TOOK THE JEEP INTO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TELLING THEM THAT WHEN WE ACCELERATE IT JERKS INTO GEAR. THEY TOLD US THAT THREE UPDATES NEED TO BE DONE ON THE SOFTWARE OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE UPDATES HAS TO DO WITH THE COMMUNICATION OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THE PARTS THAT ARE INVOLVED WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. AFTER WE COMPLETED THE UPDATES THE JEEP DROVE SMOOTH BUT THEN...

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT OIL LEAKED ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ANCHORAGE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 2601 E 5TH AVE, ANCHORAGE, AK 99501, PHONE NUMBER: 907-276-1331) WAS CONTACTED IN AN ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,600.

WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS AND SUDDENLY ITS STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO STEER . THE DASH COMES ON WITH AN ERROR ON SCREEN SAYING, "CAR MUST BE IN PARK IN ORDER TO SHIFT." TURNING THE KEY DOES NOTHING UNTIL WE TRY MULTIPLE TIMES.
AFTER REFUELING, MY WIFE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUTOFF WITH OUT WARNING. THE SCREEN IN THE CAR SAID TO PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN IN DRIVE. THE CAR THEN START WITH OUT PUSHING THE START BUTTON. THIS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE SAME DAY SO SHE DROVE TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP. JEEP SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS OVER FILLED. MY WIFE ALWAYS STOPS PUTTING WHEN THE PUMP HANDLE CLICKS OFF. THEY HAVE HAD HER CAR FOR OVER 30 DAYS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO NEW PUMPS AVAILABLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME. HER CAR HAS ONLY 36,500 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND JEEP IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT.
ENGINE OIL COOLER LEAKING. CAR HAS 69000 MILES AND THE PLASTIC ENGINE OIL COOLER MOUNTED ON THE ENGINE BLOCK IS LEAKING. SEALS ARE BAD BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE PART. MULTIPLE 2014 CHEROKEES HAVE THIS ISSUE. KNOWN ISSUE FOR LOCAL DEALER. SIGNIFICANT FLUID BUILDUP UNDER THE CAR AND MONTHLY NEED TO REFILL OIL WITH ISSUE.

THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER LEAKS OIL, CAUSING IT TO POOL ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. FIRE HAZARD! THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR ME, AND A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS MANY CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES.
MY VEHICLE BETWEEN 50,000 TO 62500 MILES HAVE BEEN SHUTTING DOWN WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS STOPPED ENTERING HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. WITHIN TWO MINUTES OF STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING IT ON THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WAS STALL MID-TRAFFIC AND BECOME INOPERABLE. THE BATTERY LIGHT THEN COMES ON WITH AN ERROR ON SCREEN WITH SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF, "CAR MUST BE IN PARK IN ORDER TO SHIFT." TURNING THE KEY DOES NOTHING UNTIL 3 MINUTES OF CAUSING A TRAFFIC HAZARD WHEN THE ENGINE FINALLY TURNS OVER. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAS ROUGH SHIFTS AT SLOW SPEEDS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY JERK FORWARD AS IF THE GAS WAS AGGRESSIVELY PUSHED DOWN. THIS JERKINESS TO THE TRANSMISSION AND SPEED HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT PARKED VEHICLES WHEN TRYING TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT AREA.

I BOUGHT THE JEEP 8/2017 AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MID 2018 AND COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE JEEP ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHILE I'M DRIVING THAT I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT IN THE BREAK TO SLOW THE JEEP DOWN. RIGHT AFTER THE DEALERSHIP FINISHED THEIR TESTING THEY STATED THAT THEY DIDN'T NOTICE ANY ACCELERATION WITH THE JEEP WAS FINE BUT IT WAS STILL ACCELERATING WHILE I DRIVE IT AND RIGHT AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING MAKING A TICKING SOUND AND HAD BEEN DOING IT A YEAR AFTER I BROUGHT IT. I'M SCARED I WILL GET IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO SPEED UP (ACCELERATES) ON ITS OWN. I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN 2014.JEEP CHANGED THIS PART FROM METAL TO PLASTIC ON THE3 .3 V6 ENGIN I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON 11/26/2019 AT ISLAND JEEP ON STATEN ISLAND N.Y AT 10 AM THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR AROUND 800 DOLLARS MY ISSUE IS AFTER FIXING IT IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN . BECAUSE THE PLASTIC MATERIAL USED TO MAKE PART IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE HIGH TEMP ON MANIFOLD WHEAR IT ATTACHES TO ENGIN .

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME STUCK IN SAFE MODE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE CODE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,200.
THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN DRIVE AND RESULTS IN HARD START WITH ROUGH IDLE. THE VEHICLE SAYS THAT IT IS IN PARK AND NEEDS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO MOVE. THIS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, TURNING, AND BRAKING. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FATAL CRASH FOR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. ECU TCU ECM ARE BELIEVED TO BE AT FAULT FOR THIS PER JEEP. THE JEEP IS IN SHOP AND AWAITING INVOICES TO SEE IF THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE IT IS THE SAME RECALL AS THE V6 VERSION.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT TO HAVE A OIL LEAK CHECKED OUT. WAS SHOWN THE PROBLEM AND WAS QUOTED A REPAIR PRICE OF $850. I LATER BEGAN INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM WHEN THE TECHNICIAN STATED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE NHTSA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE ISSUE; SB-10058301-5939. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE RISK, WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED.
AS I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION AND PUSHED ON THE BREAKS THE CAR STALLED OUT. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR IT STALLED OUT AGAIN WHEN I TRIED TO BREAK A SECOND TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROADWAY AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT; I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR. ONCE I GOT IT RESTARTED I TRIED TO PUT IT IN GEAR AND THE CAR BUCKET AND STALLED OUT AGAIN. I TRIED A NUMBER OF TIMES TO RESTART THE CAR AND EVENTUALLY GOT IT STARTED. I EVENTUALLY GOT IT INTO GEAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CAR DROVE VERY JITTERY AND WITH LITTLE TO NO POWER. MOST WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON - 4WD INOPERABLE; PUT CAR INTO GEAR AND RESTART, SERVICE...
MY CAR DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK, SLOW BUT STEADY, AND AFTER TAKING IT IN TO BE CHECKED WE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK IN THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY. THIS ALONG WITH UPPER AND LOWER GASKETS, WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $500-900. THIS PIECE IS PLASTIC, SO IS EASY TO CRACK IF THE FILTER IS OVER TIGHTENED. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING STURDIER.
MY CAR STARTS AND WILL DRIVE THEN RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE I'M SLOWING DOWN OR WAITING TO TURN. IT SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHT COME ON. I WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP. IT DOES IT AT LEAST ONCE A DAY BUT WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE AUTO SHOP THEY CAN'T IDENTIFY ANY CODES OR ANYTHING THAT'S WRONG.
MY CAR STARTS TO STALL, SLOW DOWN THEN JERKS AND DOESN'T MOVE AFTERWARDS. THEN A MESSAGE COMES UP SAYING 'SHIFT TO P, THEN DESIRED GEAR' AND I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF ABOUT 4 TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS IS WHILE I WAS DRIVING HEADING TO WORK, WHILE AT A GREEN LIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STALLS OUT. IT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM BUT A GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE LEAVING PEOPLE STRANDED IN DANGEROUS PLACES.
EVERY FEW WEEKS, I WILL GET A WARNING THAT FLASHING ON MY DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING SAYING "SHIFT INTO P BEFORE SHIFTING TO DESIRED GEAR", AND THE ENGINE DIES A COUPLE SECONDS LATER. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON COLD DAYS, WARM DAYS, FLAT ROADS, HILLS, AND TURNS. RURAL ROADS WITH LOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS THE INTERSTATE AT 60+ MPH. TAKES ABOUT 2 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WILL RESTART AND HAS LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, CAUSING A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. MOST COMMONLY HAPPENS WHEN MY OIL LIFE IS BELOW 30%, BUT HAS OCCURRED AT OTHER TIMES AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND SHUDDERED. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 700 FEET, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FREEDOM CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM BY ED MORSE (815 E CAMP WISDOM RD, DUNCANVILLE, TX 75116) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE STILL COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,700.
VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHT IN TRAFFIC, LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LUNGE FORWARD AS IF I WAS ACCELERATING THEN VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENGINE STOPPED. VEHICLE MESSAGE STATED TO 'SHIFT TO PARK AND THAN SELECT DESIRED GEAR.' ONCE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO PARK AND THEN TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY WENT INTO 'LIMP MODE' NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I MADE THE 5 MILE JOURNEY BACK HOME WITH THE VEHICLE LOSING POWER WHILE SLOWING OR LUNGING WHILE STOPPING. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AS THIS IS ALMOST GRANTEES THAT THERE WILL BE AN ACCIDENT. PRIOR TO THIS DAY NO SIGNS OF FAILING COMPONENTS.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE~50K MILES: BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM DEALERSHIP AND EXCLUSIVELY DEALER MAINTAINED...A YEAR AGO 2 THINGS SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED HAPPENING TO MY JEEP. 1-AS I WOULD SLOW DOWN AND COME TO A STOP MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF, STALL OUT. 2-AS I WAS DRIVING MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WOULD START FLASHING AND THE JEEP WOULD NOT RUN RIGHT. I WOULD PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WOULD HAPPEN AFTER 5 MILES OF DRIVING, OTHER TIMES I WOULD GO OVER 100 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. I HAD APPROXIMATELY 25% REMAINING ON MY OIL LIFE CYCLE-LAST OIL CHANGE LESS THAN 6MONTHS/5000 MILES. I TESTED THE BATTERY AND A FEW THINGS BEFORE I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER SAID MY OIL LEVEL WAS DANGEROUSLY LOW AND...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND THE "FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE" MESSAGE APPEARED. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REEDMAN TOLL CHRYSLER (300 BALTIMORE PIKE, SPRINGFIELD, PA) AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. LATER, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. LATER, THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SWITCH INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
ON SOME OCCASIONS WHEN I GET GAS MY VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY STOP AND TURN OFF RIGHT BEFORE I DRIVE OUT OF THE GAS STATION. ONCE RESTART IT TAKES A FEW TIMES AND THEN I AM ABLE TO DRIVE. ONCE ON THE ROAD IT CHUGS FOR MILES. ONCE THE GAS SETS IT'S BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN. THE FUEL PRESSURE GAGE WAS ALREADY REPLACED A FEW YEARS AGO. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG AND IT WOULD COST A LOT TO FIND OUT THE SOURCE SO I JUST DEAL WITH IT UNTIL I CAN SELL THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE 2017 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EVEN THREE YEARS OLD.
THE VEHICLE HAS A CONSISTENT ISSUE OF SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AFTER REFUELING. ISSUE USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN A MILE OF THE GAS STATION. THE CAR WILL BEGIN STUTTERING AND LUNGING AND WILL SHUT OFF STOPPED OR EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE PANEL SHOWS A TRANSMISSION LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT AND WILL NOT FUNCTION AGAIN UNTIL AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK, TURNING OFF THE ACCESSORIES AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RUNS FINE AFTER RESTARTING, AND WILL NOT HAVE THE ISSUE AGAIN UNTIL REFUELING. THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF ON THE HIGHWAY IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND NERVE-RACKING EXPERIENCE.*DT
ENGINE SEEMS TO BUDGE THE CAR ALONG WITH A POPPING NOISE WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTS. ICONS APPEAR ON MY DASH, GEAR BLINKS ON DASHBOARD AND GEAR SHIFTER, STIFF STEERING WHEEL, HARD TIME STARTING UP AND AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED ON THE ENGINE SOMETIMES CUTS OFF.
BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND TOOK IT IN AND THEY TOLD ME ALL IT NEEDED WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND STILL TO THIS DAY I HAVE EVEN MORE ISSUES CAR DON'T START AT TIME AND THEN WHEN IT DOES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND WHEN I TRY TO PUT IT ON DRIVE I BIG A BIG CLUB I NOISE AND YOU CAN REALLY FEEL THE CAR SHAKE FROM THE SHIFT AND AND SAYS SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE SERVICE LIGHT COME OF BY FAR THE WORSE CAR I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!! AND TELL THIS DAY I STILL HAVE THOSE ISSUES
GEAR BECOMES STUCK IN THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROCK AS IF IT WAS HIT FROM THE BACK, TOOK IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE NEED CALIBRATED BUT I SUSPECT IT IS DUE TO UNEXPECTED SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF DRIVE WHICH MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO COME TO THE SCENE. THE MECHANIC LOCATED FAILURE CODE NUMBER: P1D73 (ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER). THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LIFTED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT TWO PLASTIC PIECES OF GRILL SHUTTER WERE DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 512,000.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. TWO CASES IN WHICH THIS OCCURS: 1) AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, IF "TOPPED OFF", THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHEN DRIVING RESUMES. 2) RANDOM TIMES, DRIVING THE CAR...WHEN STOPPED, THEN TURNING LEFT, THE ENGINE WILL STALL IN TRAFFIC (ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON). ABLE TO RESTART, BUT ENGINE MAKES TERRIBLE NOISE (WHINING) ON FIRST RESTART ATTEMPT. THE ENGINE STALL ISSUE APPEARS COMMON TO THIS VEHICLE (PER INTERNET SEARCH). STALLING IN TRAFFIC OR DURING TURNS CREATES SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS IN THE AREA.
