The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under Emissions Recall U90; however, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds or while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle violently downshifted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that a software update was needed. The vehicle was not repaired and was left at the local dealer. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
November 20 I took my car to Seattle jeep to comply with a NHTSA recall (U90).Few days latter when they finish the repair they created a new problem with the transmission. Now I have a rough or abrupt transmission shifting like being rear ended. The dealer told me: the manufacturer need to fix it because of some flaws in the software calibration or it’s internal components. Seattle jeep it won’t take responsibility for
I purchased this 2014 Jeep Cherokee from Taverna Collection in Feb 2025 and received it in March 2025. The selling dealer was required to inspect the vehicle before delivery and did not report any transmission or valve-body issues. On June 25, 2025, the vehicle received a multipoint inspection at Auto Angel in Santa Fe. No transmission failure, shifting issues, or valve-body concerns were found. The Jeep was not showing symptoms related to Recall U90 at that time. After this, I attempted to have Recall U90 (PCM/TCM reprogramming) performed. Lithia Chrysler in Santa Fe confirmed the recall by email and scheduled an appointment, but after towing the vehicle to them they refused to perform the recall and repeatedly stated “there is no recall,” forcing me to tow the vehicle home and then again two days later to a dealership in Albuquerque. At the Albuquerque dealership, I gave clear instructions not to...
Car keeps shutting off and the acceleration is bad and transmission doesn’t work as well when i shift gears
Battery drains when vehicle is off and not running. If not fully charged the alternator will overwork and not be able to charge the battery for the length of the drive causing the battery to go dead while driving.
While driving through a local street the car stopped and the message on dash board would inform the driver to put the car in park, turn off the car, and start again. This happened approximately 15 times when approaching stop lights, stop signs or going lowered that 20 miles per hour. This also suggested that battery was low. However, the battery level read normal every time.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle jerked while the accelerator was depressed, and the vehicle lunged forward while depressing the brake pedal. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers were inoperable and failed to function while activating the windshield wipers. The contact also stated that the rearview camera inadvertently activated while driving at undisclosed speeds, and the instrument panel failed to function properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer was where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module and windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Body control module had a recall I had to get it fixed for the 2nd time and it’s giving us issues again, jeep has 46k miles and steering column control module is faulty and unconnect dash/radio/ac temp is also faulty, replaced blower motor and still having ac issues only mechanic has been Jim Browne dealer since we have had this jeep for a year .Jeep jerks when braking and does not brake it goes faster.when pressing gas to drive jeep goes slower.jeep dash of connect is blue screen and when reversing rear camera appears and does Not disappear not even when in drive or park must turn off jeep for camera to turnoff
Approximately 2'years.ago I was on my way home from work around 10:30 pm. I was in moderate to heavy traffic and the jeep threw a code saying service transmission. I wasn't able to accelerate. I had to navigate carefully through traffic with my hazards on to get to a safe place to stop. I was finally able to and turned off my car. I let it sit for a few minutes then I try to restart it again. The check engine light was still on it still said service transmission. I tried to put the vehicle in reverse, and it jumped so hard I thought that I had hit something. I turn it back off again and left it off for approximately 20 minutes. I finally tried to restart it and it started fine put it in reverse and it was able to go in reverse and I was able...
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 30 MPH, the vehicle began to jerk, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle stalled. The shift key inoperable message was displayed. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the PTU was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, where it was determined that the transfer case, PTU, and rear differential were leaking. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
Follow up of complaint tracking # 11665800 and 11667793. My Cherokee 2014 has DTC U0402 since 2018. Jeep does not want to do a recall for change of transmission for my car. Jeep wants to charge me $11000 for this repair, despite DTC was evident when the car was under warranty, and Jeep told me not to worry about it. Delaware Motor vehicle has given me a tag that will expire on 07/24/25, and DMV does not want to give me more extensions, DMV has told me clearly that IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIR. If NHTSA is not able to get a recall for my car before 07/19/25, I will have to sell my car for a very low price to Jeep, despite that my car is in very good condition and 27,509 miles. Jeep has not been honest with me since 2018...
Failed Power Transfer Unit. Unable to shift to 4WD because system is not recognizing. Service engine light has come on. This is a widely known issue with the Jeep vehicles and so far there is no warranty extension covering my 2014 vehicle.
The 4WD system is no longer working. Put in park and tried to shift and now I have an error warning light. 4WS system unavailable. Service required. The PTU seems to be the issue but the open recalls I have found do not cover this issue for my vehicle.
This is an addendum to complain number 11665800 I would like NHTSA do a recall for the transmission of my Jeep Cherokee 2014. I read an Article by Clifford Atiyeh, published on 07/08/2019 titled: Jeep recalls 2014 Cherokee again as ZF Nine-Speed Transmission Problems continue. I did not get this recall. 1-I bought the car new on 05/2014 2-Meggee Service Advisor Thomas Heck (phone 302-856-0064, Georgetown, Delaware) knew that my car was showing engine light on and code U0402, receipt dated 09/04/2018. At this time my car was under warranty, and technician did not do anything about it, despite DTC was there after performing recall U63. The Jeep technician told me not to worry about it. 3-Receipt dated 08/23/2019, , got recall V69. DTC U0402 was there. 4-Receipt dated 09/30/2022, my car got replacement of primary fuel pump. Car showed DTC U0402 again, and technician wrote "unrelated code", and told...
I was on my way home from Alpharetta from a business meeting and my car started to shake really bad on the front. I thought it might have been something my tire caught. But I just put 4 brand new tires and not one light was on on my dash board there have never been any lights come on my dash board since I've had the vehicle. I drove about 10 more mins and it got worse so I pulled over and parked. I couldn't see anything. I was an hour away from home. The next day after getting my vehicle home. I was told that the ignition coil was catching fire as i was driving it. I also have the video in my phone. The car was literally trying to catch on fire and I was told if I would have kept driving it and not pulled over my...

I bought this new and when I had 99k miles, the transmission went out. I received a notice that this transmission had a class action lawsuit against Chrysler. I took it to Southpoint Dodge in Austin Texas. Where I purchased it. They argued with me for weeks but finally agreed to replace the transmission. The new transmission only has 27k miles and is having the same transmission problem again.
While driving, the transmission goes into neutral. This happens at any speed. It won't go into gear at all. The local Jeep dealer said they could replace my transmission that I pay for. There was an initial lawsuit on these. But, any owner after the first one doesn't get help. I am disabled and on a limited income. I am stuck at home because I never know when the vehicle will go into neutral. I don't know what to do. This has happened every time I drive it. I have had to risk it to drive to the doctor and to get my prescriptions. If I can get it off of the road, I cut it off. It usually goes back into gear. But, when it goes into neutral, my complex PTSD and my anxiety disorder goes into overdrive. I feel absolutely hopeless about this. I would appreciate any help...
The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while her grand-son was driving 50-55 MPH, the driver noticed that there was smoke inside the cabin and outside the vehicle. The driver pulled to the side of the road. The driver opened the hood and noticed that the underhood had caught on fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. The fire department informed the driver that the fire originated behind the engine. The contact was unsure whether a fire department report was filed. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle was significantly burned. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
When I made an appointment at an authorized dealer and took it in they said I must wait for parts. They put me on a waiting list. During the waiting period my car started to get a check engine light and over heating warnings which the recall clearly states it’s been recalled from over heating. I contacted the dealer who said they didn’t have a loaner for me and they will contact me when the parts come in. All of a sudden the check engine light went off and the car was ok. Finally the parts came on and we took it right away to be serviced. A week after picking it up it started doing the same thing. I had emails going back and forth with service who claims it wasn’t due to the recall. During this I had a salesman call me to ask me to trade it...

When tank is filled up, my car stall or jumps and losses power when in drive and come to a stop, it tells me to put in park. But has done it while driving and just died, but it happens every time I fill up my tank, but it’s bad when I get to a red light and it jumps or when I come to crossing and just jumps in traffic or stops

I honestly have no idea what system failed but I was doing 80 on the interstate and my car shifted into nuetral . All of the lights came on parking brake , brake and then my car would not drive any longer , luckily I was able to coast onto the shoulder but I literally could have been killed. I had just passed road construction that went from 4 lanes to 2 barracaded lanes. i waited 30 minutes and my car restarted like nothing . So I thought maybe it was a glitch until I was driving again and it did it again. I had to keep putting my car in park and then shifting it back to drive . It has not been inspected yet as i'm trying to get it to the dealership without it cutting off .
Check engine light keeps coming on, then I loose power.
I was pulling out into a busy road and the clutch stuck and caused the transmission to drop into neutral. I couldn’t move or get the car in gear for 30 seconds while traffic was coming my way. I had to turn the car on and put it back in drive and it slowly pulled away
there is currently a recall, U90, on my jeep. this recall causes high emissions. my vehicle will not pass department of motor vehicles with high emissions. there is a back order for the part that will fix the recall. the recall has also caused codes to come on, which can lead to other malfunctions. if malfunctions due to this recall while i am driving it can be harmful to myself and others.

The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The dealer informed the contact that the electrical wiring harness was the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the electrical wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he purchased the parts for the electrical wiring harness replacement. The contact stated that the dealer then informed...
Car stopped without warning in middle of road. Would not start. NO Warning lights on dash. Answer: Low oil level, car just turned engine off. NO dash warning for low oil. Happened multiple times. Now: After filling with gas, stopped at light, warning messages "Put Car in park" then drive. When put in Drive, rough and huge thunk. Almost got hit, but was able to pulled over. Called AAA., waited 45, and he drove it up onto bed to bring to mechanic. No problem. They did an oil change. Drove for days then very rough idle and driving. Each time, I was able to pull over w/o being hit. Now sometimes running sluggish going down road and almost hit again. This car is not even 10 years old, but I've lost count how many close calls my family has had. If you go on any of the Jeep forums, many,...
replaced the oil filter housing unit and filter cap because of oil leak, for the last couple of months, it’s been feeling very rough switching gears, especially when turning from a stop, and now it won’t start, at all. We tried jumping it and let it sit for a little bit and nothing changed. It’s not ticking or trying to start or anything, just the dash lights up with all the lights and the brake pedal is locked, it won’t move at all
There is 3 things going on with this Jeep. First thing the service shifter is on. Second the power steering will go out and come back on at different times. Lastly if you shut the car off it may not start again for awhile and you will get a message on the dash that says engine to warm to start. I contacted Jeep they said to take it in. We aren’t in a position to just Let them keep running diagnostics on our car we have a code reader and it is not throwing any codes. Our Jeep started acting up after they did the one recall On it.
The engine lifters are tapping, The wiper switch goes out and the windshield wipers stays on and will not turn off and signal light’s doesn’t work neither the cruise controls, the transmission gears gets stuck in between gears and jerk off really fast
My 2014 Jeep Cherokee Impreza is stalling and lurching from a stop position as I press the excelerator to enter a street. This is especially problematic since I have to enter a Highway ( Oregon Coastal Highway 101) from a stop position turning right to go into town. This has been a problem for approximately 1.5 years and is a safety issue that could result in a fatal accident and is becoming more frequent.
Vehicle stalls/doesn’t start when gas tank is full. This has happened while driving.
Car has broken down multiple times. Most recent issue: 1car stalled while trying to make a left turn on highway, would not drive forward -dashboard sign said to put car in park -when trying to put it in drive it went into neutral and rolled back -car would not turn off, kept running when we tried to turn it on and off -“battery voltage low”warning signal came on -engine warning signal came on -got it to drive again after a few minutes and parked the car -tried driving it home, same thing happened all over again when were at a light after about 5 minutes -went to parking lot, hood of car was burning hot
Check engine light came on, so I took it to my mechanic. Cylinder 1 is bad. The vehicle has 75000 miles and the engine needs to be replaced or at minimum cylinder one has to be repaired. Very expensive repair. I have done regular maintenance and still have an engine problem. I thought the engine would be good for at least 300000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at various speeds, the vehicle was sputtering and then stalled. The "Shift to Park" message was displayed. The battery warning light was illuminated. The failure recurred after refueling. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was later diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, vapor canister, spark plugs, charcoal canister, and filter. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,366.
I get error messages that say stop to shift. My car is an automatic, brake comes on when I haven’t touched it, it won’t drive sometime Won’t go forward or backwards, tire pressure errors, check engine light comes on when nothing is wrong now it won’t always start. The battery is at 14.2 I want a new car this one is crap
When I fill up my car completely the car will sputter and turn off when idling at a stop. Then it may turn off and says to put in park. This has happened several times and in intersections which one incident almost caused an accident. Only happens when car gas tank is completely full. Please advise. Thank you
On March 7th 2023, I was driving my Jeep Cherokee on NY 96A in 55 mpa traffic, saw the check engine light turn on briefly, the engine seized at this speed, started chugging, and nearly had a traffic accident given the abrupt engine failure. In addition, while I was able to get to the side of the road, the car was stuck protruding off from the shoulder into the lane, the engine would not start to move the car, and it was a very unsafe situation given poor visibility at dusk. At 91,000 miles, it seems very strange to have experienced engine failure that ultimately resulted in a $6,785 repair bill at Maguire Jeep/Chrysler dealer in Ithaca, NY (VVA assembly needed to be replaced, broken valve spring in cylinder 4, roller spun and wedged in camshaft causing lobe damage, VVAA collapsed causing loose rocker and damaging head, valve and camshaft....
My car is a 2014 jeep cherokee TRAILHAWK the I bought a few mint ago at a keep dealer and after I bought the car 1000 miles later the car broke down due to a problem with the transmission, I took it back to the dealer and they didn’t wanted to fix it at first … after arguing with them for a couple of hours they resided to fix it and only made me pay for the part … after they supposedly fix it the car started giving me more problems and the dealer and the dealer didn’t wanted to fix it anymore
The contact owns 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH the electronic parking brake suddenly activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who informed the contact of water intrusion into the electronic braking system which caused the electronic braking system to malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle restarted and operated normally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000.
For the last 12-months I have been dealing with the vehicle stalling after filling it up. It first started a year ago and was sporadic but for the last 6-months it has been happening every time I fill up. This is a very dangerous situation to be driving down the road to have the vehicle suddenly stall out. The last time this happened was on Saturday, 2/11/23 and I spent the day fighting a stalling vehicle. Since 2020 the check engine light sporadically comes on. Supposedly there is a small evap leak. After looking into this earlier today I discovered this is a well known issue with all Jeep vehicles. Seeing how this seems to be a manufacturer issue the consumer should not have to keep paying out to fix what was not done right to begin with. Please look into both of these concerns.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would lose motive power and stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was initially informed that the vehicle needed a new battery; however, despite a battery replacement, the failure persisted. The contact returned to the dealer and was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 700.
Similar to NTSB 11504810, when I fill up with gas, my jeep stalls out and dies. I don't lose accessories or anything, I lose engine power. My battery like comes on and my dash says "battery voltage low" "put car into park and then desired gear" it takes a few tries to get it started again and it will buck like it wants to stall out or it dies again completely while I'm driving. Also there are times it is rough changing gears (jerky).
It started when I was trying to leave a Walmart parking lot back in October of 2022. I put my Jeep in reverse and it wouldn't backup. There was no car in front of me so I tried to drive forward and I couldn't. After several attempts I finally called AAA and had my car towed to my house till I could find a local mechanic to look at it. I then had it towed again to CS Auto Services in Leominster, MA and he ultimately had to disconnect the emergency brake because he determined the parking brake module was corroded and the only way for me to be able to drive it was to disconnect the emergency brake until one could be ordered and installed by a Jeep dealer. I thought he was ordering the module but I was supposed to so a few months later on Dec 27th...
