I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED 2016 HONDA PILOT TOURING FROM A DEALERSHIP IN OCTOBER OF 2018 THAT HAD ABOUT 25,000 MILES ON IT. THERE WERE NO ISSUES UNTIL ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE CAR DIED AT A COMPLETE STOP WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. ON 5/25/2020, AT ABOUT 42,690 MILES, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AT AN INTERSECTION BEHIND 4 CARS, WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE THE AUTO IDLE STOP KICKED IN. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CARS AHEAD OF ME STARTED TO MOVE, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THEN IMMEDIATELY, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE ENGINE DIED. THE IDLE START/STOP FEATURE CAUSES THE CAR TO STALL WHEN STOPPED. WHEN THE AT A FULL STOP AND THE IDLE/STOP KICKS IN THE CAR DOES NOT COME BACK ON AND SHUTS OFF WITH ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE CONSOLE LIGHTING UP AND MUST BE COMPLETELY SHUT-OFF AND RESTARTED, "STALL OUT" AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN I WAS IN "AUTO IDLE-STOP" AND PRESSED ON THE GAS. I FIRST NOTICED THAT THE AUTO IDLE-STOP WAS HESITATING WHEN IT WOULD START UP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE RADIO WOULD "CUT OUT". WE OWN A 2016 HONDA PILOT ELITE WITH AUTO START/STOP FEATURE. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000 MILES AND BEGAN EXHIBITING ISSUES WITH THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE. WHEN STOPPED AT ANY LOCATION, THE AUTO STOP ENGAGES AND TURNS OFF THE ENGINE AND SHOULD RESTART WHEN YOU LIFT YOUR FOOT OF THE BRAKE; BUT IT IS NOW TURNING ALL THE POWER TO THE VEHICLE OFF (RADIO OFF, A/C OFF, DASH LIGHTS OFF). IN SOME CASES THE DASH WILL FLICKER WITH AND DASH LIGHTS WILL ELIMINATE FOR A SECOND. AS A RESULT YOU CANNOT MOVE THE VEHICLE AND ARE STUCK IN A DANGEROUS PLACE (CAN'T PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, NO POWER). THIS IS A 2016 HONDA PILOT AND THE ENGINE STUTTERS/JUDDER BETWEEN 30-50 MILES PER HOUR APPARENTLY IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM, WENT TO THE DEALER FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOOD FOR 6 MONTHS THEN BACK, I THINK THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM AS MANY ARE DESCRIBING SAME PROBLEM
CAR STALLS AND DOES NOT RESTART. CAR HAS AUTO IDLE STOP FEATURE. WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR COMPLETELY DIES AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED. NO EMERGENCY LIGHT, NO LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD, CANNOT LOCK CAR, CANNOT PUT INTO NEUTRAL, MUST BE TOWED. CAR FIRST STARTED STOPPING AT STOP LIGHTS IN CITY STREETS IN 2017. WOULD TAKE A FEW ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. BROUGHT TO DEALER TO STATE MY CONCERN THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN IN THE FREEWAY AND THEY CHECKED AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. ON 3/19/20, DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY, I HAD TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC. CAR DIED COMPLETELY. I COULDN'T EVEN TURN ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHT. I HAD TO OPEN MY DOOR A LITTLE BIT, STICK MY ARM OUT AND WAVE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. SEMI TRUCKS WERE QUICKLY CHANGING LANES TO AVOID REAR-ENDING ME. IT WAS THE MOST FRIGHTENING INCIDENT THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME....
EMISSION SYSTEMS PROBLEM
I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THE IDLE START/STOP KICKED IN. WHEN I WENT TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS TO GO ACROSS THE BUSY INTERSECTION, MY PILOT COMPLETELY DIED. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED AT A STOP SIGN AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION FOR OVER 2 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID IT WAS 'JUST A SOFTWARE UPDATE'. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEY ARE ONLY FIXING IT WHEN IT AFFECTS A VEHICLE. NO RECALL??!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO UPLOAD MY VIDEO THAT I TOOK WHEN THIS ALL HAPPENED SO YOU COULD SEE WHAT MY DASH LOOKED LIKE WHEN I KEPT TRYING TO START MY CAR BACK UP. THE WEEK PRIOR TO THIS, THE PHOTO SHOWS WHAT NOTICE POPPED UP ON MY DASH.
ON FRIDAY, 2/21, THE 'EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM' CAME ON MY DASH (AGAIN). DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER ON MONDAY, 2/24. WE WERE TOLD THE FUEL INJECTORS ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEN WE GOT A CALL BACK THAT AFTER THEY GOT IN THERE, ALL THE SEALS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TOO. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS BRAND NEW CAR FOR 4 YEARS & 4 MONTHS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA.
DURING IDLE (SUCH AS AT A RED LIGHT), THE AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP FUNCTION CAUSES THE ENGINE TO CUT OUT (THIS IS NORMAL) AND THE ENGINE IS SUPPOSED TO COME BACK TO LIFE WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED. HOWEVER, SOMETIMES THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CUT OUT COMPLETELY (MOST EASILY IDENTIFIED BY THE RADIO CUTTING OUT) AND THE ENGINE DOES NOT COME BACK ON WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED AND THE CAR MUST BE PUT INTO PARK AND RESTARTED, WHICH CAN TAKE QUITE A BIT OF TIME - IT OFTEN HAS TROUBLE RESTARTING WHEN THIS OCCURS. THERE IS USUALLY SOME KIND OF ERROR CODE WHEN THIS OCCURS; THE CODE VARIES BUT IS MOST OFTEN "COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM'. THIS CONDITION CAN BE QUITE HAZARDOUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IN AN INTERSECTION. THERE IS AN OVERRIDE OF THE ENGINE IDLE STOP, BUT IT MUST BE ACTIVATED EACH TIME THE CAR IS RESTARTED, WHICH...
WHILE STOPPED AT A FREEWAY OFF RAMP. THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE PER THE START/STOP FEATURE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE CAR DID NOT RESTART AND INSTEAD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND PUT ITSELF INTO PARK. I HAD TROUBLE RESTARTING WHILE TRAFFIC BUILT UP BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES BUT THE MOST PRESSING IS THAT THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY STOP RESPONDING UNDER ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ONCE VERY NEARLY CAUSED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT WITH A BIG RIG WHILST WE WERE ENTERING A FREEWAY. ON JANUARY 13TH, I LEFT MY HOME TO PICK UP MY SON, JULIAN, 3 YEARS OLD, AT PRESCHOOL. HIS PRESCHOOL IS APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES FROM OUR HOME. I PICKED HIM UP, AND DROVE THE SAME DISTANCE BACK TO OUR HOUSE, ARRIVING HOME AROUND 4:45PM. I HAD NO UNUSUAL WARNING NOTIFICATIONS OR ANY UNUSUAL EXPERIENCE DRIVING TO AND FROM THE PRESCHOOL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HEATHER CANNON HONDA (3415 N 14TH ST., PONCA CITY, OK) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN EMISSIONS SYSTEM UPGRADE WAS NEEDED AND FIVE OF THE SIX FUEL INJECTORS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES INCLUDING FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS, FAULTY COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM, FAULTY HOMELINK TRANSMITTER, AUDIO BLUETOOTH THAT RESETS ON ITS OWN AND NOW THE LATEST ONE IS A KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR SENSE SOMETHING IN FRONT (WHERE THERE IS NOTHING) AND IT BREAKS, ALSO DRIVING IN HIGHWAY OR ABOVE 50 AND TRY TO PRESS BREAKS, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. MY CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 36K MILES AND ALL THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED SINCE 34K MILES.

WE BOUGHT A 2016 HONDA PILOT EX AWD FROM A DEALER A MONTH AGO WITH 62K MILES ON IT. THREE DAYS AGO AN EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THE CODES WERE P0430 AND P219B. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT ONE OF THE CYLINDERS WAS RUNNING RICH AND MISFIRING. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR PUT ITSELF INTO PARK WITHOUT MY (THE DRIVER) KNOWLEDGE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE HOWEVER THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT DO SO. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON IN ORDER TO PLACE THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION.
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT ON. NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS OR WHAT TRIGGERED.
MY 2016 HONDA ELITE PILOT RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD THE ENGINE IDLE STOP FEATURE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON AND THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. THE DASH SAID TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND HIT THE IGNITION BUTTON WHICH I HAD TO DO SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE TURNED ON ALL WHILE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 39,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
2016 PILOT DOES AT RED LIGHTS WHEN IT GOES INTO HYBRID/IDLE MODE. CAR TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES TO RESTART.
THIS VEHICLE STALLS WHEN THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. THE ENGINE SHOULD RESTART WHEN YOUR FOOT COMES OFF THE BRAKE. IT DOES NOT RESTART. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE PUT IN PARK POSITION, PUT FOOT BACK ON BRAKE, & HOLD THE START BUTTON UNTIL THE VEHICLE RESTARTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN TRAFFIC.
PREVIOUS COMPLAINT SUBMITTED 06/20/2019 COMPLAINT # 11221559 THIS IS THE 5TH TIME I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. CAR HAS ENGINE IDLE WHEN VEHICLE COMES TO HALT, BUT WHAT IT KEEPS DOING IS THE ENGINE COMPLETLY SHUTS DOWN AND GOS INTO PARK AND THEN THE ENGINE TURNS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FREEWAYS.AND REGULAR STREETS. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. IN JUNE HONDA KEPT MY CAR FOR 5 DAYS AND UPDATED SOFTWARE SO THEY CAN SEE PROBLEM AS THEY CAN NOT RELPICATE. THIS CAR ONCE AGAIN IS NOT SAFE AND I FELL I WILL BE KILLED IN IT.
OUR HONDA PILOT SHUTS DOWN WHILE BEING OPERATED, TYPICALLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESUME DRIVING AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED AT INTERSECTIONS, MAKING TURNS, RED LIGHTS, ETC. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BECOME UNRESPONSIVE, INCLUDING STARTER, SHIFT CONTROLLER, HAZARD LIGHTS, ETC. TYPICALLY TAKES TO 5 MINUTES TO RESTART, LEAVING US STRANDED IN TRAFFIC; AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAS OCCURRED (5 TIMES SO FAR) WITH THE "AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP" ENGAGED AND IS SUSPECT. 1ST ATTEMPT BY DEALER TO DIAGNOSE & REPAIR INVOLVED REPLACING THE BATTERY DESPITE TESTING "GOOD". SHUTDOWNS CONTINUED; THE LAST OCCURRED IN A 5-LANE HIGHWAY WITH MY WIFE AND 3-YEAR OLD CHILD ON BOARD. 2ND ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE & REPAIR, TOOK 4 WEEKS AND A SUGGESTED REPAIR OF REPLACING THE BATTERY (PREVIOUS BATTERY LESS THAN A YEAR OLD) AND A NEW STARTER @ $1,600; EVEN THOUGH THE TECHNICIAN STATED BOTH WERE "GOOD". CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEALERSHIP/TECHNICIANS ACKNOWLEDGE THE SUSPECTED PROBLEM ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER...
WHEN DRIVING IN ECO MODE THE CAR SHUTS PARTIALLY DOWN AT RED LIGHTS AND OTHER STOPS AS IS EXPECTED, BUT LIGHTS, RADIO, AC., ETC STILL FUNCTION. EVERY 5 OR 6TH TIME MY CAR NOW SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND REQUIRES ME TO RESTART IT.
CAR TURNS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING, DOES NOT RESPOND TO ATTEMPTS TO RESTART RIGHT AWAY
THE HONDA PILOT HAS A FEATURE CALLED AUTO ENGINE IDLE STOP. TO MEET EMISSION STANDARDS, THIS FEATURE PUTS THE ENGINE INTO A STOP/OFF MODE WHEN YOU BRAKE FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS. HOWEVER, THIS FEATURE SOMETIMES CAUSES THE CAR BATTERY TO FAIL AND THE CAR TO STALL. THIS COULD HAPPEN WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR ON A HIGHWAY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. IF THE BATTERY HASN'T HAD ENOUGH TIME TO RECHARGE, THE CAR MIGHT STALL AND NEED TO BE COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN, WAIT A WHILE AND MAYBE WILL RESTART. WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IN LATE 2015. THE ISSUE PRESENTED ITSELF BY 2016/2017, MOSTLY AS BRIEF BLIPS AND THE CAR WOULD RESTART. IN SUMMER 2018, AFTER REPEATED VISITS TO HONDA AND NUMEROUS TIMES OF THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, WE CHOSE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. OUR HONDA SERVICE CENTERS KEPT TELLING US THAT THE BATTERY TESTS SHOWED IT WAS...
SEEING AN ISSUE WITH FUEL INJECTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED FOR IT.
WHEN ENGINE AUTO IDLE IS ENGAGED, INSTEAD OF RE-ENGAGING WHEN FOOT REMOVED FROM BRAKE, THE CAR STALLS IN ONE OF THREE WAYS. GRADE 1, THE FAN AND RADIO SHUT OFF BUT THE ENGINE ENGAGES ONCE GAS IS APPLIED. GRADE 2, THE FAN, RADIO AND ENGINE SHUT OFF BUT RESTART ONCE GAS IS APPLIED. VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS THEN APPEAR ON THE DASH. GRADE 3, EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL YOU SHIFT INTO PARK AND PRESS THE START BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN CARS EXPECT YOU TO BE MOVING AND YOU'RE STALLED OUT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THESE INCIDENTS AND HAVE PROVIDED THEM TO THE HONDA DEALER.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESTART AFTER AUTO IDLE STOP ENGAGES WHEN IN STOP-GO TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY OR WHEN STOPPED AT INTERSECTION, RESULTING IN A STALLED VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY OR INTERSECTION. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AS A "CERTIFIED PRE OWNED BY HONDA" AND FOUR DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, IN "PARK" WHEN I HIT THE START/STOP ENGINE BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START. ALARMS STARTED TO GO OFF SO I ASSUMED IT WAS THE KEY WAS STILL INSIDE THE HOUSE. AS I WENT INSIDE TO CHECK, MAYBE A FEW SECONDS, WHEN I WENT BACK OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WAS GONE. I FOUND IT IN MY FRONT YARD. IT HAD ROLLED OFF WHILE IN PARK WITHOUT ENGINE ON. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED TO HONDA, DAYS LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE START/STOP ENGINE SYSTEM AND THAT IT ALSO NEEDED THE ENTIRE A/C SYSTEM REPLACED. ATTACHED YOU WILL FIND THE PHOTO I TOOK OF THE VEHICLE STILL IN PARK WHEN I FOUND IT IN MY FRONT YARD.
IT ENGINE IS IDLE ALL THE TIME WHEN THE AC IS ON

WHILE IDOL AT RED LIGHT, THE AUTOMATIC IDOL KICKED IN FOR POWER SAVE YET JERKED AND ALL RED LIGHT INDICATORS TURNED ON, INCLUDING PARKING BREAKS, AND CAR SEIZED UP. NO POWER, NO ABILITY PUT CAR IN PARK OR DRIVE. ON/OFF SWITCH NO REACTION TO TURN CAR ON OR OFF. NO BRAKE FUNCTION. I SAT IN AN UNRESPONSIVE VEHICLE AT VERY BUSY INTERCETION. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME WAS STOPPED AND ONLY LAID ON THEIR HORN FOR 2 RED LIGHT CYCLES RATHER THAN HITTING ME. I ACTIVATED MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS YET OTHER DRIVER DID NOT RESPOND. I REPETITIVELY KEPT PUSHING POWER BUTTON IN EFFORT FOR CAR TO RESPOND AND RESTART, EVENTUALLY DID AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF. HAVE APPT WITH DEALERSHIP IN AM.
WHEN MY CAR STOPS WHILE APPLYING THE BREAK PADDLE COMPLETELY, THE CAR MAY START 'IDLE STOP' WHICH TURNS OFF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE MAY RESTART EITHER BY RELEASING THE BREAK PADDLE OR WHEN AC OR BATTERY NEEDS THE ENGINE TO TURN BACK ON. WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES WHERE THE CAR WILL COMPLETELY RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN ALL THE LIGHTS, DISPLAYS, RADIO AND ENGINE, AND IT MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES, IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE PRESSES OF THE ENGINE START BUTTON WHICH MAY TAKE MULTIPLE SECONDS AT A STOP. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHERE CARS BEHIND MAY REAR END US WHILE WE TRY TO RESTART. TODAY, IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE IN MOTION AFTER THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I WONDER IF THIS COULD EVEN HAPPEN ON A RAILWAY... WE REPORTED IT TWICE AND TRIED FIXING IT AT...
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ENGINE STOP FEATURE HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF COMPLETELY AND DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESTART. THE SUV HAS TO BE PLACED IN PARK AND RESTARTED MANUALLY. I PLAN ON BRINGING IT IN NEXT WEEK TO HAVE THEM LOOK INTO IT.
THE ENGINE IDLE STOP FEATURE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP THE ENGINE TURNS OFF LIKE INTENDED. SOMETIMES THE RADIO TURNS OFF AND RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE MOST RECENT TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT A CREST. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE.
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND HONDA HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND MY CAR HAS AN ENGINE IDLE SO THAT WHEN TRAFFIC COMES TO A HALT THE ENGINE CUTS OUT TO CONSERVE GAS. ON MANY A OCCASION IT WILL NOT JUST AUTOMATICALLY START BUT WILL INSTEAD KICK THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY AS IT WILL THEN NOT START AS IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD BUT THE BATTERY IF FINE AND HAS BEEN REPLACED AS HONDA THOUGHT THAT WOULD RESOLVE IT. CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES THAT THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO GET RIGHT. IMAGINE IF YOU HAD TO PAY FOR EVERY UPDATE THAT MICROSOFT ISSUES? CAR WAS ENGAGED IN "IDLE-STOP" AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. FOLLOWING DRIVER'S LIFTING OF FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. (IN OTHER WORDS, CAR WAS NOT STARTING DESPITE DRIVER'S COMPLYING WITH INSTRUCTIONS. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, CAR HAD IN SOME INSTANCES VERY MOMENTARILY "CUT OUT" FOLLOWING AN "IDLE-START." DRIVER NOTICED A "POPPING" AT THIS TIME.
